Sanders Sides in my style (including FANMADE Orange Side and Character!Thomas), where I mashed up Thomas's appearance in golden-age SS, modern-day SS and my personal artistic liberties!

Rambling commentary on design choices under the cut...

Love it when people take design inspo from his dyed hair era and make it color-coded to the other sides through the power of artistic magic

Gave stubble and ear piercings so he looks closer to his current appearance

Decided to give Character!Thomas that one jacket he really seems to like rather than the popular Steven Universe shirt bc it reflects his current style more

LOVE it when people give Roman scars- also gave Remus one across his eye to make him similar to Roman

Speaking of Remus... I removed the silver streak bc it's kinda a hassle to draw and doesn't really unify him with the others (also clutters his design) + just gave him heavier facial hair rather than a full-mustache

Janus's snake-side is usually a washed-out green when Thomas has his make-up so I made it more vibrant! I usually hate drawing Janus bc bowler hat + snake scales is a STRUGGLE but I like how he turned out

His hair is spiked and swooped back to make him 'disheveled', 100% believe Thomas will wear orange contacts so he has those, and gave him short-sleeved leather jacket to relate him to Logan's short-sleeves

I was asked this and I chuckled because in the scheme of things the only thing that looks the same is that they are in my style. XD

an analogical analysis from an intrulogical idiot

as a newly converted analogical enjoyer and orange side/dark side logan truther i feel the need to mention that their arcs FUCKING MIRROR EACHOTHER. I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT THEM. so because i have absolutely nNO life i am going to give you, unlucky scroller, unwitting follower or one of the folks who followed me for invader zim, the play-by-play of these emo nerds.

so

in the beginning (only going from the start of the series) they were admittedly at odds, but not as much as say, virgil and princey or logan and patton. the first time (to my recollection) that they interact outside of the group setting is the negative thinking episode where they debate, in which virgil (to my recollection) receives the first positive feedback from any of the lightsides. now, at this point in the series, logan is still relatively respected and listened to by the lightsides and thomas while virgil isnt, given he's a darkside its not that surprising. in this period logan gets progressively more and more ignored and brushed off, slowly but still, an important piece in this timeline that i dont think is recognized enough is mind vs heart in which is the first of MANY times he is forced to compromise or back down to keep the peace. in the same time however, more and more virgils points are heard out and taken into account and compromised with (dark side of disney, alone on valentines day, etc) for virgil being compromised with is a step towards being heard, for logan being forced to compromise is a means to shut him up.

then excepting/accepting anxiety happens. OH BOY! i feel the need to point out that our bespectacled boy very much does his best to help the situation by providing hard facts that "no anxiety=bad". but the consequences of this episode should also be mentioned, that being, when virgil gains a seat at the metaphorical-but-also-probably-literal-given-this-series table, logan's is all but ripped out from under him. this is shown in the episodes immediately following, in which patton copies logans logo (minor but should still be said), being forced to be stage hand in can lying be good, etc BUT something i skipped over on purpose so i could talk about it here

THE FUCKING NOSTALGIA 2 PARTER (aka 38:33 seconds of why patton is my 2nd least favourite side) now before i continue, do note i am relentlessly biased about how based logan is in this episode because his advice in it prevented my own anxiety spiral SO BE WARNED. so, in this episode logan suggests that partaking in recreational nostalgia could help thomas cope with being reminded of his breakup, this leads to the whole crew (+ janus who was probably in disguise as roman but i digress) going on a field trip to pattons room. this causes virgil to freak out and logan likely blaming himself for hurting his anxious associate because of his mistake (likely associating this with his other mistake of misdefining infinitesimal and that might be why he doesnt like to be reminded of it but thats just a theory A FILM THEO-) so logan leaves and lets everyone else sort shit out, starting a pattern in which instead of causing what he perceives as unnecessary conflict logan attempts to remove himself from the situation at all costs, while virgil becomes more vocal when he's uncomfortable with an idea or plan.

then a bit later things continue going downhill for logan with his contributions being more ignored and solutions dismissed, becoming more vocal, confrontational, aggressive and frustrated when he is pushed aside (sound like a certain early arc anxious side anyone?) this period also features an odd 2 episode alliance between logan and roman that i still dont quite understand but feel like it is worth noting. also during this time virgil generally doesnt show up in an imprtant role for a while for whatever reason (truly the episodes, why do we wake up through learning about ourselves fundamentally confound me) also during the period of crofters the musical going forward logan fixates on being taken seriously more than usual. now one of my least favourite and simultaneously favourite episode.....

LEARNING NEW THINGS ABOUT OURSELVES!!!! MY BELOATHED!!!!!! THIS IS THE EPISODE THAT STARTED MY 3 MONTH LONG PUPPET OBSESSION (DONT ASK)!!!!!!!!! now while i will gladly go into more detail about my thoughts on this episode at a later date i'll do a quick run down. thomas calls out that logan has a temper in the overlap bit (orange side probably= anger temper= logan therefore anger= logan and logan probably= orange), logan rebounds like a goddamn kickball from the prior episode into desperately trying to prove that he is serious, logan is a LOT more resistant to compromise than usual, while virgil just rolls with it when earlier in the series the opposite would be true, logan and roman are back to fighting as usual, and thomas says that virgil doesnt have to go puppet if he doesnt want to but literally everyone peer pressures logan to. i will go more in depth on this episode later, mark my words fam(ILY).

now, the next several episodes (besides are there healthy distractions, which has some adorable analogical btw) follow the format of "darkside pulls up/patton in the plushie episode, puts logan in their crosshairs, silences him for the episode, problem eventually fixes" (listen as much as i ADORE svs: redux, the amount of disrespect for logan in it is lethal to my system)

to summarize

1 for virgil being compromised with is a step towards being heard, for logan being forced to compromise is a means to shut him up.

2 when virgil gains a seat at the metaphorical-but-also-probably-literal-given-this-series table, logan's is all but ripped out from under him.

3 a pattern starts in which instead of causing what he perceives as unnecessary conflict logan attempts to remove himself from the situation at all costs, while virgil becomes more vocal when he's uncomfortable with an idea or plan.

4 logan becomes a LOT more resistant to compromise than usual, while virgil just rolls with it when earlier in the series the opposite would be true

5 thomas says that virgil doesnt have to go puppet if he doesnt want to but literally everyone peer pressures logan to

... am i the only one who sees this??? their character arcs are going in opposite directions!!!!!!!! if we analyze this trend, we might be able to gleam where logans arc is going next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a list of random headcanons I have involving the sides.

(All of them involve Virgil specifically because he’s the softest bean and I will admit that I kind of love him the most.)

Whenever Thomas has a nightmare, Virgil sneaks into his room to comfort him. Virgil tried to keep that a secret from Thomas but Thomas figured it out as soon as he properly met him and when he finally told Virgil that he’d known, Virgil actually shoved him(gently and in the direction of the couch) and screamed “YOU SAW NOTHING!” before sinking away and refusing to meet Thomas face to face for a week out of embarrassment. 

Sometimes a spider will appear in the house and Thomas(and sometimes Patton) will SCREAM and start shouting for Virgil who will instantly appear and sometimes straight up murder the spider(seriously messing up whatever was around it in the process) or take a moment to toss the spider outside of the house before taking whoever screamed away from where the spider had been and cuddling with them until they feel better.

Deceit likes to cuddle. He’s always cold so he tries to cuddle with one of the others whenever he can to keep himself warm. His favorite person to cuddle with is Virgil because the anxious side is always willing to cuddle and carry him, regardless of what he’s doing at the time, and doesn’t mind when Deceit’s cuddles include flopping on top of him, wrapping around his throat in his snake form, actually crawling into his clothes in both forms, and spontaneously jumping on him while he’s walking around.

Patton trips on air sometimes and almost everyone knows that he does it completely on purpose. The only one who doesn’t know is Virgil, which is good since Patton only trips so that Virgil can catch him.

Everyone likes being carried by Virgil and Virgil is confused by the sentiment but doesn’t really have a problem with it. It all started with Patton who found out he enjoyed being carried by the stronger side early on in their friendship when Virgil had caught him the first few times he’d tripped near him. Deceit found out next when he was feeling particularly cuddly one day and pounced on Virgil for the first time. He’d been both surprised and pleased when Virgil had simply adjusted to carry him while he continued on with his day, not even bothering to question the reptilian side clinging to him. Thomas found out when he’d been particularly sleepy one day while returning home and had almost fallen flat on his face upon entering his front door. Virgil had swiftly caught him before he could and had easily carried him upstairs while quietly grumbling complaints about his lack of sleep, Thomas finding himself to be ridiculously comfortable in the arms of his Anxious protector to the point of falling asleep on the way up the stairs. Logan found out when he’d been overworking himself at his desk and Virgil had popped in, seen how tired and stressed he was, and had scooped him up without hesitation. Logan had complained at first but Virgil had given far too many solid arguments as he carried him to his bed and Logan was far too comfortable by the time they reached it to complain further. Roman found out when he’d dragged the others into a ‘Family Adventure’ and had ended up being flung into the air, only for Virgil to catch him on the way down. It had been quite a surprise but Roman had felt a little like a princess in the arms of a valiant knight and had discovered that he rather enjoyed playing that role when the knight was a slightly embarrassed and concerned Anxiety.

Virgil hangs out on the fridge sometimes and, surprisingly, Patton hates it. He doesn’t mind Virgil being up there in general but the same thing always happens whenever he walks by. Nobody ever really notices that Virgil is up there unless they actively look for him or he makes sure they notice him so whenever Patton goes into the kitchen without noticing him there Virgil just quickly grabs him by the shoulders and pulls him up with him. It always makes Patton scream and Virgil always ends up cackling and saying something ridiculous like “I have obtained my hostage!” or “The fridge goblin strikes again!” and yeah it’s funny but also terrifying and Patton was doing something when Virgil had picked him up and he wasn’t able to do that thing anymore because Virgil only ended up on the fridge when he was feeling particularly sleep deprived and loopy and that meant that the anxious side would not only drag him onto the fridge but would also usually end up sinking them away to a random location to cuddle and nap or to play some kind of slightly deranged game of tag or hide and seek that Patton couldn’t get out of without help from one of the others.

Sometimes, when Patton is in a particularly weird mood, he’ll climb onto the fridge and wait for Virgil to come by. Virgil always notices him as soon as he enters the room but doesn’t bother reacting until Patton pounces on him. Patton always says it’s revenge for all the times Virgil does something similar but the others aren’t entirely sure if he really means it or not because Virgil always seems pretty content with just catching Patton and carrying him around for the rest of the day afterwards.

Deceit will occasionally disappear and nobody but Virgil knows where he goes. Eventually tho, they all find out when they find him in the same place over and over again. It turns out that Deceit likes to take naps in Virgil’s hoodie pockets. Virgil doesn’t mind and Deceit finds it to be one of the most comfortable places for him to take naps.

Patton and Virgil started a boop war a year into their friendship and it’s been going strong ever since. Occasionally, it’ll get pretty intense and the two will end up booping each other repeatedly just rolling around while trying to boop the other until they both finally just collapse from exhaustion.

Out of curiosity, Logan once had Roman scream for Virgil while they were on a mini-adventure and the anxious side had popped in immediately and instantly went after the enemies nearby. When he’d finished he’d turned to the others and had frantically started patting them both down to make sure that they were alright and the other two had been unable to say anything while he did because they had just watched him gruesomely tear apart all of the enemies with his bare hands and it had been absolutely terrifying and also incredibly cool all at the same time.

It turns out that Virgil is weirdly good at cooking. This confuses everyone until he admits that he learned so that he could make sure there was someone around to feed them all if something happened to Patton or Thomas and they were unable to cook for a time. Logan and Roman both defended that they could also cook but were swiftly reminded that they usually messed up when they did it together and would almost always set something on fire when left to do so alone. And Deceit just admitted that he was really bad at it and agreed that Virgil’s back up plan was probably for the best.

If you start certain songs, Virgil is obligated to finish them. The best example is Welcome to the Black Parade but it is not the only one he does this with. Sometimes, Roman will mess with him by playing just the G-note and Virgil will SCREAM from wherever he is and stop whatever he is doing to run over and either make Roman finish playing the intro or will finish it himself before belting out the rest of the song. Once, he was having a perfectly normal conversation with Patton and Logan when Patton said “When I was a young boy” completely without meaning to start anything and Virgil just started screaming out the rest of lyrics seemingly without even meaning to either. Every once in a while, Deceit will just shout in the middle of the living room “TO CARRY ON” and Virgil will respond from wherever he is by continuing the song from there while making his way over to him. There are certain songs that Virgil hates but will still continue to sing without even meaning to. Once, and this is something that Roman will never let him live down, everyone was preparing to watch a movie after a particularly long day and Logan said “But first” and Virgil instantly replied by saying “Let me take a selfie” in a terrifically terrible valley girl voice without even seeming to realize what he’d done until it was too late.

Patton knows how to play the kazoo shockingly well and sometimes he’ll try to sneak up on Virgil only to start playing random songs and memes. Once he started playing the John Cena theme and Roman appeared out of nowhere and tackled Virgil onto the couch. 

Patton quotes memes a lot and Virgil loves it. 

Sometimes, Logan quotes memes and Virgil and Patton both love it.

Logan and Virgil have a game similar to Virgil and Patton’s Boop War where the two will just dab when no one else is looking while making sure the other sees. They take turns to see who can get away with the most dabs at a time before someone else notices. One day, Roman found out what they were doing but when Logan and Virgil talked about it with him they said that it didn’t matter if he told the others about it and when he asked why they both looked him straight in the eye and said, terrifyingly in sync, “Because no one will ever believe you” and left. Roman was both terrified and impressed by how well they’d pulled off the reference.

Ok, real quick tho.

Virgil as Snape.

Patton as Dumbledore.

Thomas as Ron.

Logan as Hermione.

Roman as Harry.

And Deceit as Voldemort.

Suggested alternate ending: Patton decides to join in by throwing knives.

Logan opens his door to see what all the commotion is about and just sees Virgil sprinting down the hall past him with deceit in his arms, both of them screaming. Then Patton also sprints past, still throwing knives, cackling like a madman. Logan blinks and then just shuts his door and decides he needs to take a break or something from literally everything.

Roman eventually comes out to see what’s up and ends up having to join Virgil and deceit in sprinting away from Patton who remains delighted as he chases everyone around the house.

Then Virgil gets cornered, after valiantly saving the other two from the same fate by shoving them into a closet moments beforehand, and Patton just launches several knives at him at once and Virgil is pretty sure that Patton won’t kill him and that he can’t actually die from a physical injury but he’s also pretty sure that this is the moment when he dies and then he kind of just sits there for a moment in confusion when nothing actually happens to him. And then Patton is laughing even more than before and Virgil is confused for a second until he picks up one of the knives and realizes that they were actually just dull plastic knives that looked like real ones and Patton is just dying of laughter because Virgil just looks so incredibly confused and the others had been running so frantically for so long and this was a risky prank that totally paid off because Virgil hadn’t had a panic attack, nobody had gotten hurt, and this had been so much fun. And then Virgil starts laughing too and they’re both dying on the floor, leaning against each other and shaking from the force of their guffaws.

Then Roman and deceit come out of the closet(lol, *coughs* sorry. It’s a reflex.) to figure out why the two had been laughing so much for so long and Patton just looks at Virgil and Virgil instantly knows what he has to do.

So he stands up wielding a handful of knives and grins in the craziest way he can, which is absolutely terrifying because he’s anxiety and he knows how to look scary better than anyone else, and just says one thing in the scariest and most warped version of his voice possible.

“Run”

And they instantly scramble to escape as Patton starts cackling again and yelling for them to come back so they can play together and that was already scary before but now Virgil is also sprinting alongside him and booming with his own terrifying evil laughter and Logan is in the kitchen now as everyone just continues to run around the house frantically.

He ignores the screams of Roman and deceit as he makes some tea for himself and doesn’t even blink when all four of them scramble into the commons for a moment. He does, however, pull out his own little stash of plastic knives that he had simply picked up from where they were lying after Patton threw them earlier and wields them at the the two “victims” when they try to hide behind him.

The game lasts for a while after that until eventually deceit just gives up and throws himself at Virgil, who almost pokes him in the gut with some of the knives he’s holding as he catches him, and declares that he now owes him some cake and cuddles for being so terrifying the entire time(I headcanon that deceit is cold, like, all the time so he always wants cuddles and Virgil is both always warm from wearing a hoodie all the time, a very good cuddler that makes the others feel safe, and always down to cuddle so long as he’s not the one who has to initiate it. So deceit tends to just go and flop on him whenever he pleases and Virgil is totally ok with that cus deceit always knows when he is and isn’t ok with physical contact or anything beforehand so he only does it when Virgil is gonna be cool with it.) and Virgil just laughs and leaves Patton and Roman to finish the game themselves while he carries the danger noodle back to the common area to relax on the couch with Logan and watch some history channel shows.

Eventually, Roman decides to end the game by dramatically dying in the common area while Patton tosses knives at him, giggling the entire time.(Roman and deceit had realized pretty quickly after Virgil also started throwing knives that they were fake because they knew that the anxious side would never do somethjng that could actually cause them harm and he had better aim than Patton so it was pretty easy to figure it out when the knives were just harmlessly pinging off of them)

And then everyone kind of just collapses into a pile on the couch and switches to watching lilo and stitch and Patton eventually makes a chocolate cake later that day for deceit and makes Romans favorite food for dinner while Virgil makes sure to visit Roman the next day to have a fun Disney marathon with just the two of them and gives deceit some extra affectionate cuddles for the rest of the day.

And when Thomas eventually finds out about the incident he asks why nobody tried to stop Patton when he suddenly started throwing knives at everyone and Roman, deceit, and Logan say that they just assumed Virgil would do somethjng if he thought it was actually too dangerous and Virgil just says that he assumed Patton wouldn’t actually kill them even if they were real knives. Patton finds this a sweet thing to say and gives his dark strange son a hug while Thomas wonders how he’s still alive if the embodiment of his survival instinct just assumes that he will be fine if someone aggressively throws knives at him, so long as they don’t mean to murder him directly.

And that’s my alternate ending to this spectacular tale of Virgil and deceit’s utensil war.

I ended up making this a bit longer than I’d intended but, whatever.

This was fun to think up and at least partially satisfied my need to have some fluffy sympathetic deceit stuff so I am content with that.

2 Virgil to Deceit

2: “Are you seriously throwing forks at me?”

Virgil jumped from his spot on the couch as something hard hit him in the side. He looked at the something. It was a fork.

He looked around the room before his eyes landed on a certain snake ducking behind the kitchen counter.

“Are you seriously throwing forks at me?”

Deceit chuckled. “No.” He said, throwing another fork at Virgil.

“Yes you are.”

“I most certainly am not.” Another fork.

“Can you stop?”

“Yes.” Another damn fork.

Virgil growled, storming towards the kitchen. “That’s it, loser. You’re on.”

It was at this point that Patton heard shouting coming from the kitchen.

“Guys, are you oh… kay…”He fought to keep himself from laughing at the scene he walked in on. This scene being Deceit holding a fistful of forks in one hand, the other holding a fork and reeled back, ready to throw, and Virgil on the other side of the room, standing on a chair, with a handful of spoons in his hand, more sticking out of his pockets, and also ready to throw. There were forks and spoons all over the floor.

They caught sight of Patton at the same time and dropped their ammunition, both pointing at the other with a shout of, “He started it!”

Patton had an amused smile on his face. “I’m sure one of you did.” He let the smile drop, serious Dad Face in its place, “Now clean this up, kiddos.”

I need the sleep that a cat gets and bonus of having warmth to soothe my joints? Hell yeah I’m sleeping on a warm surface

…let’s just say…it was a really tough time for me and my family… But one(maybe five o.o,) certain person(s) helped me through. Hey, it's me again and I wanted to share my theories about the final chapter of Raven Poetry au.

At some point, Roman will overwhelm his powers and when he finishes, he will faint and sleep for many days. Virgil will try to wake him up/save him with the poems given to him, but I don't know if they will work.

Shockwave turns out to be Adam's uncle.

Mark is Megatron.

I also can't wait to see Logan's reaction when he finds out who the real Poetry Prince is and that he's the last one in their circle of friends to know about it (not counting Adam's boyfriends).

Interesting theories. We'll see if any of them are true.

We've seen a couple of people suggesting about Mark being Mega. And hey, you guys were right now Angel and Vigorous. Who knows, maybe you're onto something.

But later Roman givs him an original one after he saw that Janus actualy make a nice card to Patton as a present.

Hc that Remus spends a lot of time around Logan because he’s trying to break his whole ‘im immune to chaos’ act, like dragging him to do stupid gross missions, batting away his pens from his hand, stealing his belongings and hiding them- just being a general nuisance.

And Logan just,,, assumes that means they’re friends?- like Roman and Patton annoy him a lot, Roman takes him in crazy nonsensical adventures, Virgil will steal his book occasionally. And it’s just.
