Summary
You were conditioned to obey from your youngest age, despite being in line for the throne. As the thirteenth born, you were always treated as the spare one.
Who will you be loyal to, when fate makes you choose? The family who raised and abused you, or the Emperor/Empress you are left to as part of a bargain?
Features
Customise your gender, appearance and sexuality.
Play as a feline shifter or as a normal human.
Play as a secret informant or completely break the ties that bind you to your birth family.
Find romance where you least expect it.
Love Interests
The Servant [M/F]: one of the servants employed in the castle. Every time you see them, they seem more exhausted and worn than the last. There can be a small, tiny spark inside them to be light up if only you take the first step.
The Emperor/Empress [M/F]: known as a tyrannical warbringer, their name preceeds them. And yet, why do you feel less threatened in their presence than you felt in your own home? Why do they look at you with wonder and softness?
The Imperial Servant [NB]: widely considered the Emperor/Empress’s left hand (fitting, considered the Emperor/Empress lacks one), they were chosen as their Imperial Majesty’s closest servant because they were born deaf. While seemingly innocuous at first glance, they hold great power within the palace walls. They love bargaining and could grant many of your wishes - for a price.
The Wanderer [M/F/NB]: a simple traveller, who seems to be unusually at peace with themselves and with the world around them. They would take their whole day just to save a wounded animal, or to practice a ballad by themselves. Their attention feels nurturing and healing, perhaps because of their older age, that makes them fit in the hole years of neglect left in you.

You never thought you'd go to college, due to your circumstances. But you especially didn't dream you'd be forced to attend the prestigious Vales Grove University after being attacked by wraiths in their library. What started as a visit to a long time friend, ended with your hands burned, your innocence questioned, and the startling realization magic is real. To apologize for what's happened to you, or more accurately, to keep an eye on you, the Headmaster himself offers you enrollment with all fees waived. With no real choice in the matter, you become a student, and try to ignore the suspicion everyone throws your way. Besides, you have worse things to deal with. Like how you've started to attract ghosts and other dead things, or the fact that there is a very living thing inside your head, waiting for you to lower guard and take control. And most pressing of all, managing your obligation to a family that hasn't been such a thing in years. Tread carefully, if the ghosts don't devour you, the university certainly might.
Customize the MC; gender, appearance, personality, etc!
Romance six questionable love interests, or not!
A morality system which changes how your story will go. Do you belong to the day, the night, or somewhere in between?
A complicated family, which you've been shackled to your whole life. Will you ever be able to escape them? Do you even want to?
Survive college, your job, and attempt to not have a quarter life crisis.
Avoid getting devoured by all the things that go bump in the night.
Retain your free will.
Rook Bellerose [M]: A "best friend" you've known for almost a decade now. He's never let you get close even after all this time. He's the king of jokes and immaturity, but after the events which led to your enrollment at Vales Grove, something's changed. Maybe it's the guilt, or maybe it's the mask finally slipping.
Beck Castro [M]: Rook's detested roommate, although you aren't sure why. He's the kind of guy who likes to hear himself talk, and he's pretty good at it. He can captivate a room or get himself out of any situation. For whatever reason, he's taken a keen interest in you, and has offered his help for whatever you might need.
Rhea Windsor [F]: The Headmaster's daughter. Everyone who talks about her often complains that she's the traditional prim and proper young woman one would expect from a Headmaster's daughter. However, the more you talk to her, the more you realize she's the exact opposite with a dorky personality and a streak of clumsiness.
Zoe Ripley [NB]: A loner who hides in the library to avoid people. They saw what went down the day you get forced to attend Vales Grove. Despite their prickly attitude, you get the sense they aren't a bad person, and despite how they act, they've never refused to help you. If anything, you seem to be the one person on campus who doesn't get on their nerves, professors included.
Lars Angel [M]: The most exhausted person you've ever seen, and that's saying something. He's a grad student, and one you keep running in to. He can't stand you, and you can only guess at why. With a sharp tongue and a bitter disposition, he tries his best to avoid you. Too bad you both keep running into each other. It looks like fate has other plans.
???: The thing which haunts you. You have no idea how the two of you got connected, but you can feel it in your blood, organs, neurons, synapses. You know it's evil, you know it wants to consume you, but tell me? Has anything ever cradled your soul so gently before?
CW: Gore, violence, parental neglect, alcoholism, mtc

Warnings: Witches of Ferngrove is aimed at 18+ audiences, and will contain graphic depictions of violence and gore, strong language, depictions of self-harm, abuse, torture, and mature content.
Summary: This is going to be an urban dark fantasy interactive fiction game targeted at adults and focused on romance. This means there won't be an option to not romance anyone, I know this might be disappointing but it's the game we want to make. It will be ran on ChoiceScript and the demo will be published here on our Tumblr when the first chapter is completed. It will be published through Dashingdon.
The game focuses on you, the eldest of a family of witches from the small, idyllic town of Ferngrove where nothing ever happens. Your family are witches in a town of humans, and as a result you grew up sheltered and unaware of the magical world, besides the little your parents deemed safe enough for you to know. Other than weak charms and potions of luck, you don't really know anything about the supernatural world. You left Ferngrove when you graduated from high school and never looked back, becoming a successful journalist at the Echo Gazette in a big city like you always dreamed. Depending on your choices, you have Skyped with your family and they might have taken trips out to see you in the city, but you have not stepped foot back in your hometown.
That is, until you get a call that changes your life forever. Your mother is dead. Aleia Craft. The woman you thought invincible. You must travel home for the funeral and contend with a darker conspiracy. As you begin to unravel the mystery of your mother's death and the secrets she left behind, you begin to realise she is a woman you didn't know at all. Soon, you see that there are things at play here bigger than you could have ever imagined. Dark forces conspire against you. It will be up to you whether you can withstand the storm brewing on the horizon. Make allies and enemies, fall in love, hone your magic, and discover your legacy. Be careful who you trust, even those closest to you are not what they seem.
Customizable MC - choose your gender (nb-inclusive), sexuality, name, appearance, skills, and personality.
Choose how you feel about magic and the supernatural world that had been hidden from you by your family. Choose whether you accept or reject your magical legacy.
Allow your unique experience to shape your skills.
Choose your magical specialty.
Investigate your mother's murder with a cast of interesting, and not-so-trustworthy characters.
Discover family secrets and navigate your family dynamics.
Gain allies and enemies.
Fall in love with 1 of 4 gender-selectable love interests.
CORA/COLTON CALLOWAY
Your childhood best friend that disappeared and cut contact with you seven years ago, right when you were both meant to move to the big city and chase your dreams together. Now, you're back in your hometown for your mother's funeral after swearing never to return. There is a reckoning coming, you can feel it in the air. But when it arrives can you forgive them after everything that happened?
"I can’t abandon them. I’m all they have left."
REN ASHIKAGA
The reclusive stranger that runs an Airbnb out of their mansion on the edge of Ferngrove. An Airbnb that you just so happen to rent out when you finally return home for the funeral. A mansion is the last thing you expect after your tumultuous journey, but Ren provides a welcome distraction. They are aloof, mysterious, and frustratingly, unnaturally attractive. But be wary of pretty faces that hide dark secrets.
"You do not choose when darkness takes hold of you. You won't even realise it's happened until someday, far in the future, someone holds up a light and you come face to face with the horror you have become."
WYATT/WILLOW KING
A witch you meet when you return to Ferngrove, who claims to want to help you find your mother's killer. Kind, enigmatic, and more secretive than they let on. W's coven sent them to investigate what happened and help the witch community in Ferngrove. Will you let them train you in the art of the arcane and teach you what your mother tried to forbid? Or will you keep them at arm's length?
"Compassion costs nothing and so many people still refuse to use it."
JULES ADDARIO
The private investigator that arrives just in time to help you with the case after you have been struggling with the bumbling human police. Jules is dark, haughty, and a little more than crazy. They're hiding something and you know it. The question is can you trust them long enough to help you find your mother's killer and uncover the secrets your family kept buried? After all, some coffins are better left unearthed.
"I am utterly unlovable. And because I am unlovable I am selfish enough to want you to love me anyway."

Reblogs are very much appreciated! Thank you so much for reading!
Three generations.
That's how long it's been since this kingdom was conquered. In a time of great upset, the First Queen led a rebellion against reviled rulers and oppressive laws. Waging war with unmatched cunning, she rallied many powerful soul mages, known as angels, to the cause. From that conflict, the kingdom of Calcherth was born, built on the bones of the old empire. The First Queen ruled with great compassion and wit, but not all sins are forgiven with time. For the deaths she had caused during the war, the First Queen was murdered by the very people she had endeavored to lead.
The loss of its ruler did not spell the end of Calcherth, however. The coup was quickly suppressed, and the First Queen's son took the throne in her place. Now, many years later, the scars on Calcherth's short history have faded, and advances in soul magic improve lives for many within its borders. However, those same advances are viewed as a threat by Calcherth's neighboring kingdom, and many fear war is on the horizon once more. To make matters even more dire, the Second King has suddenly passed away, leaving his youngest son to succeed the throne long before he is old enough.
The effects of these events are so far-reaching, than even you are beginning to feel them, far to the southwest in the remote town of Lest. You are the child of a retired knight of the kingdom, who traded in his sword for the deed to Lest's tavern. The Fool's March, your father has named it, and the humble, but beloved tavern has been the center point of your entire life. But now, with rumblings of war, your father plans to pick up a blade once again, heading to the capital to enlist and leaving you behind in your childhood home. With him no longer by your side, what will you do when a threat to the entire kingdom comes for you? What will you do when you find out you may be a soul mage, yourself?
Those Long Dead is rated 18+ for depictions of swearing, sexual themes, violence, and death. More warnings may be added as development goes on.
Features:
Medieval Fantasy setting with angelic imagery and themes, and a focus on romance.
Adult characters, with the main cast being mid twenties to early thirties.
Customizable MC. Select your first name, last name, pronouns, appearance, orientation and manifestation of powers.
Five romance options of varying gender and personality, who you can interact with as you choose.
More to come as development continues!
Romance Options:
Kaine Breckem (he/him) - The blacksmith's former apprentice, who your father took in and hired at the tavern a few years ago. A kind, but mischievous individual, Kaine cares about others a great deal, but that doesn't stop him from being full of snark. Kaine can be your closest childhood friend, or someone you unfortunately work with; the choice is yours to make. Regardless, he's rather protective of you... but who will protect him when he needs it?
Vermillion "Millie" Lousat (she/her) - A descendant of a noble family, Millie has extensive education and combat training... and is also quite the social butterfly. It doesn't matter if it's the docks or the Gilded District, if you want connections somewhere, Millie has them. She wears her heart on her sleeve and doesn't care about the consequences. Maybe you'll catch her eye, somewhere amidst the mass of other's trying for her affections?
Leon Calcherth (he/him) - Technically a prince, Leon is the standoffish older brother of the Young King, Caleb, but is no longer considered to be in line for the throne. He greatly regrets the situation this has put his younger brother in, as they're very close. Leon is not easy to get close to because of the way he acts, but maybe the prickly prince has a softer side underneath the thorns?
Milo Lance (they/them) - The commander of the Order of Light, and they absolutely live up to the position. Practically raised in Gilramore's guard barracks, Milo's personality tends to come across as stiff and business-like, but in actuality they simply enjoy being effective and to the point. A truly gentle soul in a warrior's suit of armor, if you can persuade them to let down their guard.
Clementene Fairwreight (she/her) - Celementene is a talented soul mage for the Order, but she is a researcher at her heart; field work isn't particularly for her. A slightly nervous disposition and bad eyesight really only add to her penchant to stay within Gilramore's white stone walls. Her surprisingly daring experiments with magic captivate most of her attention, but maybe she'll find something in you that can capture her focus as well?
