Trevor knew he could hear the familiar voice of Isabelle Hughes, a voice he had grown accustomed to over the long years of knowing the Hughes family, a voice that he called to listen to when he was having a bad day or just needed his female best friend to talk to.

So, when he walked downstairs to see one of her Youtube videos playing on the large TV he and Jamie had mounted to the living room wall in their apartment with said male watching it with a glint in his eyes, Trevor couldn't help the smirk that appeared on his lips as he rested his arms on the back of the couch.

"Dude, you've watched almost all of her videos already, haven't you gotten tired of hearing her voice?" Trevor startles Jamie as he speaks up, causing his best friend to snap his head in her direction.

"I will never get tired of hearing an angel talk to me....even if it does happen to be through a screen." Jamie tells him with a shrug.

"I can't believe you haven't caught onto the fact that she's related to--,"

"For the last time, it's impossible for her to be related to Hughes's. It's a popular last time." Jamie rolls his eyes, eyes going back to the TV.

Trevor chuckles, "Whatever you say, Jamie."

"They're not related!"

Trevor's loud laughter can be heard as he makes his way back upstairs, pulling his phone out as he dials a familiar number and presses his phone up against his ear.

"Hello?"

"Belle! I have a serious question for you." Trevor closes his bedroom door behind him, throwing himself onto his bed, "Will you come to our game tonight? I'll leave a ticket at the front of you."

"Yeah, sure, I don't have any plans."

"Great! I'll see you after! Love you, bye!" Trevor quickly hangs up, a smirk making its way onto his face, "They'll thank me at the wedding."

Belle looks down at her phone screen as she answers a few text messages while she waits for the Ducks players to leave the locker room after their showers.

"Princess Belle!"

The blonde doesn't have the chance to even look up from her phone as arms wrap around her waist and picks her up from the ground, "Trevor!"

The two best friends hug each other tightly as he sways them side to side.

Of course the two only lived thirty minutes away from each other, but usually one of them was always busy so they didn't really get together as often as either of them would've liked.

"Don't kill me, but I made you come for a reason." Trevor mumbles into her ear as he slowly lowers her to the ground, "I'm playing matchmaker again."

"Trev, last time you tried to play matchmaker with me, I had to pretend that Quinn fell down a flight of stairs to get out of the date."

"I know, I know. But I promise, Jamie is a nice guy." Trevor grinned, wrapping an arm around her shoulder to drag her with him,

"Jamie!"

Jamie turns around from where he was talking to Mason, eyes going wide at the blonde tucked into Trevors side.

"Meet Belle, Jamie." Trevor smirks with his arm still around Isabelle, "Belle, Jamie is a big fan of yours."

"Thank you." Belle smiled, holding her hand out, "I'm a fan of you guys. Kinda have to be since Trev forces me."

"I do not." Trevor looks down at her offended.

"So, uh, how do you know Trevor?" Jamie asks as he shakes her hand, nervous to be around the girl whose videos he always watches.

"Oh, Quinn, Jack and Luke are my brothers." Belle says, "I met Trevor around the same time that Jack did."

"She's been my best friend ever since." Trevor grinned, shooting Jamie an 'i told you so' look.

"It was nice meeting you, but I have a meeting in the morning, so I should make the 30 minute trip back to my apartment.” Belle smiled at the hockey player before turning to Trevor, “Don’t be a stranger.”

“Uh, Belle!” Trevor calls out to the blonde as she walks away, noticing the deflated look on Jamie’s face, “Are you sure you can’t come out to eat dinner with us? Please?”

Belle squints her eyes at Trevor as she glances over his shoulder to see Jamie pretending not be listening.

A sigh leaves her lips before she nods her, “Okay. But you’re paying for my gas.”

“Done!”

By the end of dinner, Belle and Jamie had really gotten to know each other, having spent the entire night talking to each other.

“Alright, I’ll talk to you later.” Belle wraps her arms around Trevor’s neck as they stood next to her car.

“Drive safe, please. Text me the exact second you get home.” Trevor tells her, watching as she nods while grabbing her keys from her bag.

“Oh, Trev!” The blonde calls out causing him to turn around.

“Yeah?”

“Give Jamie my number.” She smiles as she opens the car door, “Tell him to call me sometime.”

Trevor laughs as he walks over to the car him, Jamie and Mason drove to the restaurant, pulling his phone out to text Jamie the Hughes sister’s phone number.

“What—,” Jamie looks wide eyed at Trevor, “Dude!”

“Belle says call her sometime.”

“You wanna talk about it?” Justin asked the younger girl sitting across from him in his and Hailey’s kitchen. “You’ve been in the clouds since getting here.”

Emersyn sighs, locking her phone and sitting it face down, ignoring the incoming messages from both Jack as Quinn. “I don’t know how to feel about any of this.”

“Emmie, you’ve been pinning for this guy since the day I met you. Even before then!”

“I’ve been waiting years for Quinn to tell me he loved me, for him to show me that he saw me as more than his little brother’s best friend.” Emersyn chips at the red nail polish on her nails, "And now that he has, I don't know how to feel."

"I'm not the best person to be getting advice from...but I think you just need to sit down and talk it out with him, see where it goes." Justin shrugged his shoulder, "...and thank me at the weeding in six years."

A playful glare is sent his way as the brunette sitting in front of him tosses one of her grapes in his direction, loud laughter filling the kitchen between the two non-biological siblings.

Quinn stares at the closed bedroom door, arms crossed over his chest as he pays attention to nothing around him but the door.

"Quinn! Dude!" Cole shoves the older boy, breaking him from his trance.

"What's up?"

"Everyone's downstairs. Emmies back."

"Okay, I'll be there in a minute."

Taking a moment as Cole walks back down the stairs, Quinn can't help the sigh that leaves his lips as he throws his head back.

“Why does the world fucking hate me today?” He mumbles as he makes his way down the stairs, smiling slightly at the sight of Emersyn and Jack clinging to each other as if their lives depended on it.

“Jack! Other people want a turn hugging her!” Luke is trying to pry his brother’s arms from around the brunette.

A laugh falls from Emersyn’s lips as Luke is finally successful, the singer falling back into Luke’s chest as they sway slightly, “Luke, I was gone for a couple of days.”

“I missed your pancakes.”

Quinn stands back as he watches all of his close friends hugging the girl, arms crossed over his chest as he’s unsure of what to do.

Emersyn laughs as she pats Luke on the back, "I told you that I could teach you how to make them."

"Yeah, but you make them the best." Luke pouts.

"Alright, I think we should all go out on the lake and let Quinn and Emmie talk." Jack sighs, glancing over at his brother with a frown. He pulls his best friend in a hug, "Text me if you need me and I'll come back."

"Okay."

Everyone piles out of the lake house, most of the glancing back at the two being left behind, Trevor shooting Emersyn an encouraging smile as he walked out.

It's quiet in the now empty lake house as Emersyn moves around Quinn to head towards the kitchen, the brunette moving around to clean up the mess the boys had made.

"Are we gonna talk about it or stay quiet the entire time?" Quinn breaks the silence

"You wanna talk, talk." She shrugged, "I'm not sure there is anything to talk about."

"I told you that I loved you, that's something to talk about."

"Is it? Because this is something that I could've heard nine years ago. Or back when I was 13 and my crush got spilled to you." Emersyn shrugged her shoulder as she loaded the dishwasher.

"What was I supposed to do? I was a dumb kid, Emmie!"

"And I was a stupid ass kid who had a crush on my best friends' older brother! A crush that he wasn't even supposed to about, that his little brother overheard!" She spun around to look at him. "You weren't supposed to know!"

"Why not? Why wasn't I supposed to know, Emmie?!"

"For this reason, right here! Because of this! Because of how embarrassed I was when all of your little jackass friends laughed at me, and you just let it happen!"

"You stopped coming here! You ran away!"

"Yeah, I ran away. It's what I do best." She shrugged.

"What do you want me to do, Emersyn?! Huh, you want me to drop to my knees and confess my love for you?! I told you I loved you and you ran away!" Quinn throws his arms out, “You want an apology?! I’m so fucking sorry and I love you! I’m in love with and I have been for a couple of years now! My heart broke every single time you called and said that you weren’t coming back for the Summer! And it killed me when you decided that you were moving to California, which is on the other side of the map, by the way!”

“I have tried every single way that I possibly could get in contact with you! I asked Jack for your new number! I tried to talk the old one! I’m blocked from sending you a damn message on Instagram, and you took me off of Snapchat! I tried, Emersyn and you wouldn't let me!"

Emersyn shakes her head, looking up at him, "I wanted to hear you say you love me years ago! I've written so many songs, and I got into that toxic ass relationship that I was in to get you out of my fucking head, and nothing worked! Absolutely nothing because I'm still in love with you and I hate you for it!"

"You don't hate me." Quinn shakes his head, moving around the table so that he was standing in front of her, "We both know you don't."

A tear falls from one of her eyes, "I wanna hate you, I really do."

"I know, Ems." He presses his forehead against hers, using his thumb to wipe away at the tear, "I don't want you to hate me. I just want you to love me."

"I do love you, Quinn, but I. . .,"

Quinn shakes his head, "No. No, "buts', Emersyn. Just. . . just let me make it up to you, okay? Let me prove to you that I am still worth you loving."

"Okay, but don't make me regret it, Hughes."

"Never." The boy grinned before pressing his lips against hers.

"Where's Emmie?" Jack questions his older brother as him and the others had walked back into the lake house, all of them agreeing that the two had been left alone long enough on their own.

Quinn looks up from his phone from his place on the couch, "She left." He shrugged.

"What the hell do you mean she left?!" Jack exclaimed, looking at his brother with a look of disbelief on his face.

"We got into a fight when we were talking, and she just left." Quinn shrugs again, looking down at his phone to hide the smile that wanted to form on his lips.

"She just -- why the fuck did you just let her leave for?!" Jack exclaimed, racing up the stairs to find the bedroom that Emersyn usually stayed in was empty. "Seriously?!"

"I told you that she left." Quinn looks up at his little brother as Jack raced back down the stairs. "I tried to stop her, but she didn't listen to me, said she would call you later."

"Quinn!"

"Hey, guys." Emersyn walks down the stairs, a blanket wrapped around her shoulders.

"What? But Quinn said you left!" Luke's jaw drops, "Jack just went to check upstairs!"

"Seriously? You told him that I left?" Emersyn shakes her head as she takes her seat back next to Quinn, the boy wrapping his arm around her shoulders to pull her closer to him.

"Your stuff is gone! Where the hell is your stuff?" Jack has his hands on his hips like a mother scolding their child.

"I moved my stuff into Quinns room." She shrugged, bringing her knees up to her chest, moving the blanket around to cover her entire body as a chill ran down her spine.

Cole tilts his head to the side, "Why would you move your stuff into Quinn's room?"

Quinn and Emersyn turned their heads towards each other, having an entire conversation with their eyes.

"Well?"

"Emmie and I decided that we were going to give us a chance." Quinn tells them, "We're gonna test this summer out before we have to go back to Vancouver and California.

Jack squints his eyes as he looks down at his older brother, "Let me tell you something, buster, you do anything to hurt my girl, anything at all, if one little tear leaves her eye because of you and it's not a happy tear, I will make sure that you go missing. Capeesh, Quinton?"

"I promise that I will not hurt Emmie."

"I'll be watching."

"Mm-hmm."

"Legally, and with the remind of my brother, I am required to tell you that I have a sever peanut allergy and I do not have my Epipen on me." Kaelyn informs everyone at the table.

"We made sure before we asked you on." James smirked at the blonde.

"I figured as much." She sighed.

"Niall, you're up first." James calls out the Irish man, "Niall, I am going to give you."

"Please don't do that. My acid reflex will freak out." Niall points to the hot sauce as James spins the trey around.

"Please, anything but the scorpion." Kaelyn whines, brushing her hair out of her face.

"The salmon smoothie.” The chunky pink drink stops in front of the two. “Here is your question. So if you answer the question you don’t have to eat. If you don’t answer the question, you both have to have a big glug of the salmon smoothie.”

“I don’t know what I’m more nervous about, the question or the smoothie.” Niall laughs.

James looks down at the flash card in his hands, “Well, I’ve just seen the question, I think it might be the question. Niall, who is your least favorite member of One Direction?”

“My Directioner heart can’t take it!” Kaelyn dramatically slaps a hand over her heart with a pout on her lips.

The audience screams out at the question while Niall gives off a nervous laugh.

Niall picks the drink off of the table, pushing it towards Kaelyn before sitting it back down as she reaches for it.

“Shit.” Niall laughs, “Um—,”

“As much as I hate this, I think you should drink.” Kaelyn reaches a hand out to touch Niall on the arm, “I am not your publicist. But I don’t know that you should.”

“Don’t think of your teammate, think of your life.” James tells the Irish singer.

“I think I might and just take the daily mail hit tomorrow, and throw out a crap answer.” Niall laughs, “I’m trying to help out Kaelyn.”

“I’ll drink it.” Kaelyn cringed at the thought of the thick substance as she used the green cloth to put around his neck.

“Are you gonna go salmon!”

“Yeah, for future life, yeah, I think I’ll go with this. Sorry, Kaelyn.” Niall picks up two glasses, handing one to the blonde next to him.

“Down the hatch!”

Kaelyn brings the cup up, tipping it but the drink is so thick that it doesn’t even move.

“Hang on, there you go.” James passed Niall a fork as Kaelyn grabs the one from next to her and dips it into the cup.

“No!” Kaelyn can’t help but to gag as she moves to spilt it out, reaching for the glass of water. “Oh, my gos! That’s just nasty!”

“It’s not so much of the taste, it’s the texture, it’s like having a salmon yogurt.” Niall explained the best he can.

“Right, so now is Kaelyn, you will ask your question to me.” James gestures to the singer. “Which would you like me and Ewan to have?”

“Hmm.” A smirk sets on her face as she looked at the question.

“Oh no. I don’t like the look on your face.” James laughs.

“I’m gonna give you guys the scorpion.” Kaelyn turned the table, the same smirk on her face, “James, name one artist you have turned down carpool karaoke.”

“How long have you got?” Niall laughs.

James picks the Scorpio up, “Cheers mate. Ewan, you question to Kaelyn.”

“I think I’m going for the tongue.”

“Fuck my life.”

The crowd and men at the table burst out laughing at the girl.

“Kaelyn, your brother is Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, who is your actual favorite football team?”

The crowed ‘oohs’ as the blonde bows her head, shoulders shaking in silent laughter.

“Aren’t you on a plane to Cincinnati when you leave here?” Niall questioned.

“Yes.” She groaned before looking up, her face twisted if false confusion, “Truthfully, I watch football a lot less than other sports. I love supporting Joe, but my heart is, and will always be, a die hard hockey fan.”

“Hockey?”

“Yes, and not just any hockey team, the New Jersey Devils.” Kaelyn says before looking straight at the camera, “Jack Hughes, if you are watching this, slide into my DM’s. I promise, I’ll reply.” She winks.

“Shoot your shot, girl!” Everyone laughs as someone from the audience yells it out.

“I am!”

James laughed, clapping his hands. “Unfortunately, that is all we have time for today! Kaelyn, I want a thank you at your wedding in a couple of years whenever you married this hockey player you’re obsessed with! Jack Hughes, DM her please!”
