"I don’t wanna tell him!” Luke stops as the hushed voiced of Emersyn and Jack through the locked door of Jack’s bedroom.

"Why not?! This could be a good thing, and you could end up being my sister in the far future!” The youngest of the Hughes clan tilts his head to the side, face scrunched up in confusion as he walks closer to the door to hear better.

“No, Jack. Quinn is never going to know about my crush on him.”

“Alright! Fine! Your secret is safe with me.”

Hours later, Jack and Emersyn had joined their brother’s and the boys' friends, and everyone had begun to notice how weird Luke was being.

“Luke!” Jack snaps over at his little brother, who was shaking the entire table they were all sat at, a deck of cards passed around all of them.

“Stop shaking the tab—,”

"Emmie has a crush on Quinn!”

Everything falls silent as Emersyn sits frozen in her spot, everyone looking between the girl and the oldest brother.

“Awe, Quinn!”

“The baby has a crush on you!”

Emerysn can feel the tears weld up in her eyes as Quinn’s friends started to tease her.

“Emmie, I don’t like you like that.” Quinn laughed in her direction. “I — You're like my sister. I would never like you as more than that.”

“Em, I’m sorry.” Luke frowns as she stands up and quickly rushes out of the room.

“Nice going, idiot.” Jack scoffed, rushing after his best friend, “Emmie! Emersyn!”

“What?!” Jack stares at his mom in disbelief as Luke and Quinn follow their dad into the lake house.

“What’s going on?” Quinn frowned at the upset look on his brother's face.

“This is your fault!” Jack spins around to look at his younger brother.

“What’s going on?” Jim looks at his wife for the answer to his and his son’s question.

“Claire just called; she says that Emmie decided she was going to California for the summer instead of joining us all here.” Ellen said, “She’s gonna spend the summer with her cousins.”

“If Luke wouldn’t have opened his big mouth last summer and Quinn wasn’t scared to admit that he liked her, then Emmie would be here!” Jack stomped up the stairs and slamming the door to his room shut.

“I’m sorry, Jack.” Emersyn frowns as she sits in the airport with her phone pressed against her ear. “I’m gonna spend another summer in Cali.”

“What? Emmie…is this about—,”

“Yeah.” She sighs, “I can avoid him at school, and around our houses, but I can’t avoid him for three months without thinking about him rejecting my feelings for him. Even if it did happen two years ago.”

Its Jacks turn to sigh, “No, I get it. At least keep me updated. And promise that you’ll call and text me.”

“I will.”

"Love you, Jackie.”

“Love you, Emmie."

“Have you heard from Emersyn?” Quinn leaned against Jack’s door in the lake house, arms crossed over his chest, “Is she coming this year?”

Jack scoffed, “No. She’s going back to Cali, again. Where she’s been going for the last couple of years.”

“Is she—,”

“No, okay. Don’t. This is your fault and Luke’s.” Jack tells his older brother.

“How is this our faults?”

“Because! It’s Luke’s fault for listening to something that didn’t concern him and telling you about it! And it’s your fault because you embarrassed her in front of all of your little friends you had over! And you know what? I wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t step another foot in this lake house.”

“Maybe I can call her—,”

“Don’t bother.” Jack mumbles as he brushed by him, “She changed her number a year ago.”

June 22, 2017

“Wait, Emmie’s calling me.” Jack pulls his phone out as he sits around a fire pit with a few friends, putting the phone on speaker. “Hey, Emmie!”

“Jack! You will never fucking believe what just happened the other night!” Emersyn’s excited squeal filled the night air.

Jack laughed at her excitement, “By the sound of it, something crazy happened.”

“Yes! So, Ava and some of her friends took me to this karaoke bar that lets teens in every now and then, and of course they forced me to get up and sing—.”

“As they should have.” Jack cuts her off, “You have the voice of a fucking angel!”

“Thank you! Anyway, so as we’re walking out, I bump into someone and it’s Justin fucking Bieber!” Another squeal leaves her lips, “He goes on about how he’s just walking and head me singing so he had to walk on and check out it. Then he tells me that he wants to sigh me to his label!”

“But, because I’m only 17, I had to call mom and dad! then yesterday, I called Justin, and he automatically signed me to his label!”

“Emmie! That’s amazing!” Jack is smiling so hard his face begins to hurt.

“But that means that I gotta move to California.”

The smile slowly begins to face from Jack’s face before he stands up, taking the phone off of speaker and walks towards the lake house, his voice fading as he talked, “What do you mean you’re moving to California?!”

Quinn stares out at the burning flames in the fire pit, a frown on his face and an unfamiliar feeling of dread deep in his stomach as his brother’s words circled around in his head.

Was Emersyn really going to move to California?

“Do you have everything that you’re taking with you?” Jack sits on the end of Emersyn’s bed as he looks around at the near empty room.

“Yeah, I think so.” The brunette nodded plopped down next to him, laying her head on his shoulder, “It’s weird.”

“Leaving?”

“Yeah, this is the only place I’ve known since I was eight. Now I’m moving out to California.” She sighs, “We haven’t been apart since I started going to California.”

“We’ll have FaceTime, text. And when I’m drafted for hockey, wherever I go, then we can fly to each other.” Jack smiles as he looks at the wall ahead of him. “Are you gonna say goodbye to Luke and Quinn?”

“Luke, yes. Quinn…. I don’t know.” Emersyn frowned. “I’m not embarrassed anymore that he rejected me in front of his friends, I think I’m more hurt over the fact that I’ve been in love with him since before I even knew what love was. And he laughed and brushed it away as if it meant absolutely nothing to him.”

“Emmie, everyone can see that Quinn looks at you more than just a sister. Even then, but he’s been quieter since you stopped coming to the lake house. I think you should say bye to him.”

“Okay.”

She never did.

When I first started writing Isabelle, she was originally Luke’s twin sister and on his wiki page/google it says that he was born in New Hamsphire so I just kept it like that🤷‍♀️.

✦ after taking a break from music & just the spotlight in general, grayson announced on instragram that she was putting out a new single which caught the attention of trevor. ✦ seeing that jamie was friends & commenting on her post, he begged his roommate to invite her to a game so that he could meet her. ✦ grayson and trevor met each other april 29, 2022 at a ducks vs. stars game. ✦ the two of them instantly hit it off with jamie telling them that he would make a good matchmaker if hockey didn't work out for him. ✦ the two go on a couple of dates before coming official on may 15, 2022 with both of them making the decision to keep it out of the spotlight for as long as they could. ✦ kylie is the very first person that grayson calls to tell her about trevor when they go on their first date, getting her mom to promise that she wouldn't say anything to her dad before she could sit him down and tell him herself. ✦ she mostly wants to make sure that the relationship is really going to go somewhere before she tells the rest of her family about trevor. ✦ july 21, 2022, during the summer in ohio with her family, on her birthday, two bouquets of flowers are sent to her grandparents' house from trevor & she has to tell her family about him. ✦ trevor meets jason and kylie july 24, 2022 when the invite him to stay with them in philadelphia to have dinner with them. ✦ jason is skeptical about trevor at first because he didn't really like her last two boyfriends, but he warms up to trevor quickly. ✦ the rest of her family absolutely adores trevor, especially her little sisters who always ask to talk to him whenever they call to talk to grayson. ✦ wyatt is absolutely smitten with trevor & whenever he's around the family, she's quick to cling to him, always getting him to play with her. ✦ trevor loves that her little sisters love him. ✦ they first say "i love you" on their eight-month anniversary. ✦ they soft launch their relationship on january 16, 2023. ✦ their relationship is revealed by travis on accident during an episode of his and jason's podcast. ✦ trevor and grayson switched between each other's apartments when trevor didn't have away games. ✦ after a year and six months together, grayson traded her small one bedroom apartment in los angeles for trevor's "bachelor pad" in anaheim. ✦ when they first start dating, and she meets trevor’s family, his sister is in shock because her brother is dating one of her favorite artists. ✦ trevor's parents loved the kelce girl, and his brother and sister took a quick liking to her. the three often find themselves on facetime with each other. ✦ the summer of '23, trevor is invited to the hughes lake house while grayson went to ohio to see her family, though for a week, she went to visit him & meets the hughes family, bringing wyatt along with her because she wanted to see her "brother". ✦ everyone ended up loving her, & she often found herself sitting with quinn & breaking him out of his shy shell. they also made fun of trevor a lot during that trip. ✦ on their second-year anniversary, trevor asks grayson to marry him in the privacy of their anaheim apartment. ✦ trevor flew all the way to philadelipha when travis was visiting and asked not only her parents and travis to marry her, but he also asked her sisters. ✦ they get married on their fourth anniversary. ✦ they don't hardly get into fights, but whenever they do, trevor is usually the first one to crack and apologize, bringing her flowers. ✦ during their wedding reception, trevor & grayson got 't' and 'g' tattooed on the outside of their wrist.

Trevor knew he could hear the familiar voice of Isabelle Hughes, a voice he had grown accustomed to over the long years of knowing the Hughes family, a voice that he called to listen to when he was having a bad day or just needed his female best friend to talk to.

So, when he walked downstairs to see one of her Youtube videos playing on the large TV he and Jamie had mounted to the living room wall in their apartment with said male watching it with a glint in his eyes, Trevor couldn't help the smirk that appeared on his lips as he rested his arms on the back of the couch.

"Dude, you've watched almost all of her videos already, haven't you gotten tired of hearing her voice?" Trevor startles Jamie as he speaks up, causing his best friend to snap his head in her direction.

"I will never get tired of hearing an angel talk to me....even if it does happen to be through a screen." Jamie tells him with a shrug.

"I can't believe you haven't caught onto the fact that she's related to--,"

"For the last time, it's impossible for her to be related to Hughes's. It's a popular last time." Jamie rolls his eyes, eyes going back to the TV.

Trevor chuckles, "Whatever you say, Jamie."

"They're not related!"

Trevor's loud laughter can be heard as he makes his way back upstairs, pulling his phone out as he dials a familiar number and presses his phone up against his ear.

"Hello?"

"Belle! I have a serious question for you." Trevor closes his bedroom door behind him, throwing himself onto his bed, "Will you come to our game tonight? I'll leave a ticket at the front of you."

"Yeah, sure, I don't have any plans."

"Great! I'll see you after! Love you, bye!" Trevor quickly hangs up, a smirk making its way onto his face, "They'll thank me at the wedding."

Belle looks down at her phone screen as she answers a few text messages while she waits for the Ducks players to leave the locker room after their showers.

"Princess Belle!"

The blonde doesn't have the chance to even look up from her phone as arms wrap around her waist and picks her up from the ground, "Trevor!"

The two best friends hug each other tightly as he sways them side to side.

Of course the two only lived thirty minutes away from each other, but usually one of them was always busy so they didn't really get together as often as either of them would've liked.

"Don't kill me, but I made you come for a reason." Trevor mumbles into her ear as he slowly lowers her to the ground, "I'm playing matchmaker again."

"Trev, last time you tried to play matchmaker with me, I had to pretend that Quinn fell down a flight of stairs to get out of the date."

"I know, I know. But I promise, Jamie is a nice guy." Trevor grinned, wrapping an arm around her shoulder to drag her with him,

"Jamie!"

Jamie turns around from where he was talking to Mason, eyes going wide at the blonde tucked into Trevors side.

"Meet Belle, Jamie." Trevor smirks with his arm still around Isabelle, "Belle, Jamie is a big fan of yours."

"Thank you." Belle smiled, holding her hand out, "I'm a fan of you guys. Kinda have to be since Trev forces me."

"I do not." Trevor looks down at her offended.

"So, uh, how do you know Trevor?" Jamie asks as he shakes her hand, nervous to be around the girl whose videos he always watches.

"Oh, Quinn, Jack and Luke are my brothers." Belle says, "I met Trevor around the same time that Jack did."

"She's been my best friend ever since." Trevor grinned, shooting Jamie an 'i told you so' look.

"It was nice meeting you, but I have a meeting in the morning, so I should make the 30 minute trip back to my apartment.” Belle smiled at the hockey player before turning to Trevor, “Don’t be a stranger.”

“Uh, Belle!” Trevor calls out to the blonde as she walks away, noticing the deflated look on Jamie’s face, “Are you sure you can’t come out to eat dinner with us? Please?”

Belle squints her eyes at Trevor as she glances over his shoulder to see Jamie pretending not be listening.

A sigh leaves her lips before she nods her, “Okay. But you’re paying for my gas.”

“Done!”

By the end of dinner, Belle and Jamie had really gotten to know each other, having spent the entire night talking to each other.

“Alright, I’ll talk to you later.” Belle wraps her arms around Trevor’s neck as they stood next to her car.

“Drive safe, please. Text me the exact second you get home.” Trevor tells her, watching as she nods while grabbing her keys from her bag.

“Oh, Trev!” The blonde calls out causing him to turn around.

“Yeah?”

“Give Jamie my number.” She smiles as she opens the car door, “Tell him to call me sometime.”

Trevor laughs as he walks over to the car him, Jamie and Mason drove to the restaurant, pulling his phone out to text Jamie the Hughes sister’s phone number.

“What—,” Jamie looks wide eyed at Trevor, “Dude!”

“Belle says call her sometime.”
