evil aside, the vinsmokes are so fucking cool đ
vinsmoke brothers, my beloveds
I will NEVER get over this official art of Kid
All of the jewelry??
The cunty nails???? He should have those all the time I stg. Gouge my eyes out, Queen â¨
As someone that loves ATLA and is recently getting back into the fandom and has also been spending alot of time in the One Piece fandom as off late
Luffy and Aang have a very similar energy that I enjoy. They are just both so precious oh my god đ. They are so different but they have very similar narrative functions in how they inspire the people around them to embrace silliness and childlike joy.
But also I love the way they move their powers are fun and they love using them. They are constantly using it's ungrained in the way they move Aang loves airbending he's never not jumping around with it and Luffy loves being rubber
Which makes their differences all the more exciting and seeing how that same scale of personality
they both deal with inherited will Aang more literally and directly that Luffy (as of yet) and they interact with that differently. Aang's inherited will is a weight on his shoulders a burden he has to bear while Luffy's is a pleasant surprise to those around, and the source of his desire for freedom. And this comes through in how they interact with the ultimate version of their powers the literal embodiment of these inherited wills. The avatar state and gear 5
The avatar state for Aang represents a destiny he is still to young to bear, it is unpredictable, overwhelming, uncontrollable, it is something to be feared and worried about, it represents a loss of control for him and he struggles to reconcile that kind of destructive power with himself and his values. It scares him, and Thatâs why it remains lost to him for much of the series till he makes it his own.
Meanwhile for Luffy Gear 5 represents freedom, he is literally being freed from the constraints of reality. It is the culmination of everything heâs ever been. Itâs everything we love about luffy turned up to a 100. Gear 5 is silly, goofy, cartoonish, unserious, fun loving, filled with laughter, insanely power and lowkey a little scary. Even tho Luffy is technically transforming into another person (or god) but god it is still him it is everything that has ever embodied him. And Luffy loves to be in it he has so much because as he said itâs him at his freest.
Aang and Luffy have very different character philosophies, priorities and move through the world differently. Aang is very much concern about the people in the general sense while Luffy is very much focused on helping his friends which then spirals to helping the general population, it just so happens that he is very good at making friends
But at their core they are just both fun loving little boys refusing to let their tragedies define them as they and their rag tag group of walking disasters rove the world like criminals, freeing the people from oppression.
thinking about newly dating kidlaw where law is tentative with physical affection at first but after the first few times kid loops an arm around him during movie nights or presses an embarrassed, too-hard kiss to his cheek before leaving for work, law deems it safe to get bold.
he starts craning up for a peck when kid drops his lunch off, stuffs a hand into kidâs back pocket to firmly grip his assets when he walks kid back home from work, even starts nuzzling him and brushing past him without any other word or acknowledgmentâ like a cat. on one night, two minutes into a lame action movie, law plops himself down into kidâs lap instead of the well-loved couch cushion next to him.
the sudden, violent weight makes kid jolt, landing a little too close to⌠precious things. he grabs for law, trying to shove him aside so he can reposition and ease his weight away with a âwhat the fuck,â but law simply fights back, twisting around to push him.
and they wrestle like that for a bit, nipping at each other and snarling and grunting without any real bite. a hand shoving at kidâs shoulder, elbow jabbing into lawâs side, tumbling pillows, spilled popcorn. eventually they wind up lying down, law flat on kidâs chest.
âbe careful,â kid grumbles lowly, narrowing his eyes at him. his mussed black hair and disheveled clothes are too attractive, but kidâs too appalled to say anything. âsince when were you this fucking annoying?â
law simply levels him with an unimpressed yet overwhelmingly fond look. âwhen have we ever been careful with each other?â
and kid canât help but bark out a laugh, smothering an exasperated grin into the crook of lawâs neck as he roots him to his body by the waist.
Ok so letâs talk about a fairly well known OP Theory,
Is Kid a Vegapunk Satellite?
(I like to believe he is but Iâm only 70% sure if this theory)
Now letâs talk (possible) history
So I believe Vegapunk made Kid to express all his anger so it wouldnât blind HIS work. So after he made him, he left him somewhere far far away from Egghead (like in the South Blue)
Why would Vegapunk choose to leave his anger satellite on a scrap heap, no government protection island? Because the constant stress of possible danger and rude islanders is a perfect place for Anger to fester and stress to build. (An unnecessary evil from Vegapunk) but Anger canât build and fester on a technical paradise.
Vegapunk probably never planned that Kid would ever even leave his island, nonetheless the South Blue itself to enter the Grand Line. When he first read about Kidâs atrocities, he was probably having a visceral reaction (not to the violence, Kidâs the anger part of the brain) but to the fact that he was making headway into the Grandline and became a Supernova.
What Vegapunk didnât know while Anger can blind you, spite is also a pretty big motivator for angry people. He didnât understand the idea that his satellite he made to seethe on an island somewhere would have goals and aspirations (like claiming the One Piece).
Now letâs move onto my other point, the number 7 on the Damned Punk
(Not to mention this is an actual Railgun, as in a FUTURE GUN)
Now why, why would Kid put a 07 there? There was no reason to add a 07 and yet he did, as if it was a type of instinct to put it on a creation he was proud of. Kinda like the Satellites
(Who also share the same Number system as Kid, 0 than a number.)
And while weâre on the topic of the other satellites, letâs draw some comparisons between Shaka and Killerâs mask.
Itâs (somewhat) safe to assume Kid mightâve designed Killerâs mask as it seems to fit almost perfectly on him and shows none of his face (the exact specifications that Killer would probably want). Itâs smooth and rounded kinda like Shakaâs and that beard sticking out almost resembles Shakaâs lower mask.
Now this point doesnât have much meaning but it is interesting how similar they are.
Now you may ask âwhat about child kid, weâve seen him and he was already on the island?â Well whose to say Vegapunk didnât drop him off on that island even younger?
(Look heâs even holding a wrench and a toy robot he probably built himself.)
Childhood is also a personâs most impressionable time, so placing him in a negative environment at a young age was crucial to making him a bitter and angry so the others donât feel that. (Seriously itâs unnecessarily cruel)
Now letâs talk about another point, Kidâs Face
Look at his face itâs got a sort of Perma-Malice to it, wouldnât you agree? Like his face was made to feel every bad emotion of a person. Now letâs take a look at his smile, clearly scary and kinda unnerving, as if heâs not supposed to smile. Now letâs compare that smile to the grimace on the right, it looks almost perfect, as if thatâs how his face should look. Iâm fact, I donât think Iâve ever seen Kid smile while he wasnât being malicious in some way.
Itâs like the only reason he smiles is to piss off his enemies and look smug, meanwhile that grimace is a fairly common face that weâve seen many a time whether pissed off or sad. Itâd make sense for the Satellite of Anger to have a face more inclined to make a resting bitch face.
Anyways I think if Kid had made it to Egghead, the Satellites would be very tense around him. Kinda like how youâd tense up if you donât want someone to figure out a secret but theyâre on the tip of figuring it out. Like âplease, please just leave. Donât make eye contact with usâ.
Also Kid looks vaguely like Lilith, what with the both of them having kinda defined chins. Kidâs chin is more square than Lilithâs but that smile is almost a dead ringer
(And you got to admit they look vaguely like siblings for some reason.)
Last point I have here is his devil fruit, we know Kid got it at a fairly young age and thatâs why heâs so adept at using it but we also can assume that Kid did a bunch of experimentation with it. Seeing what he could and couldnât do and all his limitations, just like a scientist would.
It got to the point where Kid was 100% confident in the idea that he could make his Punk Rotten
A giant robot made of magnetized metal (kinda like the fake sea kings of the Vegapunks). Kid was so confident in his abilities to make this thing because heâs tested himself multiple times and trained himself to the peak of his devil fruit.
(Idk I like this theory and I think Iâd be cool with it if it were true.)
While I do like some of the points you make, I can't say I really like this theory at all to be honest. It seems too coincidental and there's a fair amount of holes in it, the biggest of which being that the satellites were only conceptualized and created during the timeskip. Plus why would a perfectionist like Vegapunk pull a Star Wars and release a number 7 satellite decades before 1-6 were made? If we're talking about Kid representing spite, Atlas already covers that because a lot of her job is griping about her frustrations about not having enough resources to patent inventions and then take out those frustrations through violence. As for Kid not smiling in a way that doesn't look malicious, there's plenty of other characters who do that too, Doflamingo and Blackbeard being some of the most prominent.
You can also count Kaido in that, barring his goofy drunk expressions.
But the real reason why I'm not a fan of Kid being a Vegapunk is that a big part of his appeal lies in how he doesn't have some secret past. He's not related to anyone famous, he didn't have a mythical Devil Fruit or a warlord being an influential figure in his childhood. He was just a scrappy kid with a knack for robotics on some scrap island in the middle of nowhere who fought hard and viciously for everything he had and got to the top by his own merits. Vegapunk is far from the only genius in the One Piece world, Franky was an engineering prodigy long before he ever looked at Vegapunk's blueprints in Baltigo.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the South Blue had a reputation for being home to a lot of technicians and shipwrights.
One of my favorite details about Kid is how his nose is always scrunched. That man is snarling at all times he's so feral.
Current status
the grip kid would have on society if he actually had canines
I head a sudden itch to draw a bunch of Law and Sanji pics... Gladly I have number of ref pictures with couples saved on Pinterest...
Guess this is how my studies attempt look like.
