MY NAME IS PERCY ATREDIES, DUKE OF ARAKIS
He's an overlander, so he probably knows a bit of science stuff the underlanders have no clue about, but he's also literally just a high school student
Bloodball cannons are broken? Get Gregor.
Currents are acting up? Ask Gregor.
Ate a weird looking mushroom and now you're foaming at the mouth and seeing pink, flying leviathans? Just ask Gregor for some medicine. He's an overlander, they've got all kinds of weird medical shit up there.
Could you just imagine Top Gear, but with Gregor, Ares and Ripred?
Ripred: How, in the name of all that is holy, did you manage to do that
Gregor, holding a baby Bane: ...well it's quite interesting, isn't it?
Ares, looking on with a look of mild apprehension/fear: Yes, it is
An actual transcript from last night's dnd session:
A: Can you add Divine Smite to Soup?
I don't wanna be a downer, but it's pretty much inevitable at this point.
Well. My dash is starting to get empty because I’ve unfollowed so many people recently, so I guess I’m doing one of these?
(Also mutuals please reblog this so people see it? Thank you ily)
Writing (esp. writing fantasy, memes, etc. I follow a few writing tips type blogs but would love to get some writing mutuals!)
Fantasy books in general, especially adult fantasy
The Underland Chronicles (please)
Mistborn (okay so I’m not done reading it yet but I’m WORKING ON IT and I’m chewing on these books, you might’ve noticed from My Entire Blog)
The Adventure Zone: Balance
TTRPGs
Original art! Especially fantasy OCs!
Crochet
Worldbuilding (This mostly ties into writing and TTRPGs I think, but wanted to add it anyway)
Harry Potter
MCYT
Any sort of hate speech (reclaimed slurs are fine!)
A lot of politics (occasional posts are fine, but I’m not on Tumblr to be reminded how many people want me dead, y’know?)
Shipping/fandom discourse (I’m too old for this)
Untagged gore
There is a good chance I will not follow everyone who reblogs this, as I am very picky about curating my dashboard. It’s nothing personal if I don’t follow you!
Another way to think of show don’t tell is to describe the symptoms rather than tell the affliction. You could say someone was close to fainting—or you could describe their symptoms and trust the readers to understand what they mean: the world swirled around her head, her ears beginning to hum lowly, then louder, increasing into a high-pitched ring. She took a deep breath, her stomach turning over itself. Etc.
Symptoms can also mean the lump in your throat as a “symptom” of being sad enough to cry, or the warmth of your face as a “symptom” of embarrassment.
That might sound a bit silly, but I find it really helpful when I’m reading over mine or others work and looking for those places where showing would be better than telling. Have you described the symptoms, or just told the affliction?
Here’s a short list of “afflictions” and their associated “symptoms” to get you started (but make sure to explore how different characters express different afflictions, even in more odd or unusual ways!)
Any symptoms I missed?
It's fucked up, but it fits in with the repeated theme of scapegoats in TUC. Gregor, Nevee, and even the Bane are all arguably scapegoats and political pawns for the people pulling the strings (Sandwich, Solovet, Twirltounge), who are used and thrown under the bus when no longer of any use or when they need a scapegoat. None of them really seemed to understand what they were doing or who they were fighting for. Gregor didn't know about the whole "killer" thing until book 4, Nevee was just following orders, and the Bane was basically an insane 1 year old. Sure, some people might care about these guys, but at the end of the day, they're just tools to the people in charge. Even Luxa and Ripred aren't above just assuming Gregor will side with them because "they're right and the other guys are wrong". And I've probably missed half of the pawns in this series.
There's something called a KOSA Bill in the US. It's a project planning to cut off internet access to ALL CHILDREN WORLDWIDE. This means they are banning Chai/C.AI, Wattpad, AO3, Discord, Tumblr, Tiktok, etc.
To make matters worse, parents will have access to their children's internet activity, meaning chats, websites visited, apps opened, etc. Giving them NO privacy whatsoever. Esp. children who are LGBTQIA+, because in the US, it is deemed "inappropriate".
There is a solution to this, however only to people who have Tiktok, there is a user named omarsbigsister, if you check their profile, you can see in their bio it says "STOP KOSA!! ⬇️⬇️"
Below the text, there's a link. Now before you click on the link, there's a video you need to see, giving you instructions on what to do.

Recently, I've been having a lot of fun with Character AI and making stories and stuff, but I wanted some outside opinions on my idea. Plotting and true depth aren't really feasible for my stories rn (though I do wanna develop those skill in the future), so for now I was thinking of turning conversations with Character AI into stories with OCs and putting them on AO3 to develop my general writing style. And I'm just curious, is this cool with y'all? Am I just being lazy, or do I just wanna write without the the inconvenience of having to plot stuff?
