Finally Perfect

Summary: The Good Hair Crew and Jonah meet up the next day at The Spoon. Cyrus has something he needs to tell them.

……

Ding!

Cyrus’ head immediately turned towards the door of The Spoon, hopeful. But, after seeing that it was just a pair of random girls, he simply sighed and turned back to the conversation at hand.

“… and we were texting until like 3 in the morning!” Buffy gushed next to him. “Honestly, I’m still kind of tired but every second was worth it!”

Across from them next to Jonah, Andi swooned. “Aww, Buffy, I’m so happy for you!”

Cyrus nodded in agreement. “You and Marty were a long time coming,” he added.

Buffy blushed, smiling dreamily.

Cyrus had never seen her like this before. So serene and content and just…happy.

Ahhh, the power of young love.

“So are you two like a thing now?” Jonah asked, ever so straightforward.

Buffy shrugged. “I guess? I mean, I know we kissed and all. But, we didn’t really… put a label on us yet. But, we’re willing to see where it goes. And he did ask me out on a date so…”

“Oohh, do you need help deciding what to wear?” Andi asked, immediately, giddy with excitement. “You know, I have amazing style!”

“Of course! I trust you to make me look prettier!”

“Bex can do your hair!”

At this point, Jonah turned to Cyrus shaking his head. “They lost me.”

Cyrus chuckled. “Let them have their fun. A date is exciting! I mean, I can’t wait for mine.”

Jonah’s eyes widened. “You have a date? With who?”

Whoops. Cyrus didn’t mean to reveal that. He hadn’t exactly told anyone yet what transpired the night before. It was a whirlwind of events, after all, with the news of Andi getting into SAVA and Buffy’s first kiss.

Cyrus felt like his news could wait, a little. Besides, he didn’t want to tell everyone without the one important person whom he felt should be there next to him when he told them.

That was why he had asked Andi if he could invite a plus one to their little lunch get together. And, naturally, Buffy had asked if Marty could join them as well. Amber was somehow mentioned and she was invited as well.

It was a large group of all their new friends and… significant others. Cyrus never really thought this day would come and right before they all headed to high school, too.

Before he could give Jonah an answer, though, the little bell rang out again.

Automatically, his head turned.

Standing at the door was the tall, blonde, and green-eyed jock he had been waiting for. And right next to him was Marty.

The two boys looked around before spotting them at the circular booth in the corner.

Marty pointed at them and they headed right over.

“Hey, guys,” he greeted, immediately sliding into the booth next to Buffy.

The others returned his greeting but Cyrus only had eyes for the blonde.

“Hey,” T.J. grinned as he took his place in the empty seat next to him.

Cyrus couldn’t help his own lips from smiling. “Hi.”

“Looks like we’re all here except for Amber,” Andi stated, looking towards the kitchen doors. “She said she’ll bring our food right out and take her break.”

Cyrus turned to T.J. “You don’t mind that I ordered for you, do you?”

T.J. playfully shrugged. “Depends. What did you get me?”

“Cheeseburger with a side of fries and a chocolate shake.”

Underneath the table, T.J. slid his hand into his and gave it a soft squeeze. “You know me so well.”

Warmth exploded in his chest while butterflies fluttered in his stomach

Holding hands was officially Cyrus’ favorite couple activity.

He and T.J. were a couple.

They were finally a couple.

“Uh, Cyrus?” Jonah’s voice broke through his giddy thoughts. “What was it you were saying before?”

“Huh.” He blinked, not comprehending the other brunette’s words at first.

Oh, right. His date.

“Well…” he cleared his throat, tightening his hold on T.J.’s hand. “That’s… kind of why I asked if T.J. could join us today.”

The whole table now had their eyes on him. Beside him, T.J. continued to smile rather playfully, amused as he waited for Cyrus to reveal the truth about what was going on between them.

When Cyrus still couldn’t find the right words to start with, T.J. asked, “Do you want me to say it?”

At this, both Andi and Buffy audibly gasped.

“Say what?” Jonah asked, sounding incredibly confused.

Marty just looked from Cyrus and T.J. to Buffy who was practically vibrating next to him then back to the Cyrus and T.J.

Cyrus cleared his throat. “T.J. and I… well… we’re…” He struggled to find the right words.

“Dating.”

Well, it looked like T.J. had the right word.

The blonde was looking at him, eyes practically sparkling with affection that Cyrus was sure were reflected in his own eyes. Sometimes, it felt like he and T.J. never needed words to talk.

They could just look at each other and know.

“Oh my god!” Andi squealed.

“Finally!” Buffy exclaimed.

“Whoa, congrats, man!” Marty said, surprisingly accepting of the whole situation.

(Anddd Cyrus just realized that he accidentally came out to Marty. But, Buffy chose well and the outcome was just fine so he supposed he could roll with it.)

“So, T.J.’s the one you’re going on a date with?” Jonah continued to ask.

“Yes,” Cyrus answered, pressing a shoulder against the blonde next to him. “He asked me last night. And, naturally, I said, ‘yes’.”

“Cool! I’m happy for you, Cy! You, too, T.J.!”

“Thanks, man,” T.J. replied, releasing a breath. “Whoa… that kinda felt good. Just… having it out in the open.”

“Well, then! This calls for a double Good Hair Crew celebration! I got into SAVA and you, two, finally got boyfriends!

Marty turned to Buffy. “I’m your boyfriend?” he asked, playfully.

Buffy elbowed. “Shut up,” she said, blushing as her lips twitched into a soft smile.

Laughing, Andi stood up. “I’ll go and ask for another order of baby taters. On me! And I’ll check on Amber, too.”

“I’ll go with you!” Jonah also got to his feet, probably not wishing to be left behind with not one but two couples.

They flitted off towards the counter.

Marty and Buffy went right into bantering about who could eat the most baby taters in one sitting. Marty’s arm was over Buffy’s shoulder, fingers playing with a strand of curly hair.

Meanwhile, Cyrus could only feel T.J.’s thumb stroking the top of his hand.

“Is this okay?” the blonde asked, sounding a little apprehensive.

Cyrus smiled. “It’s perfect,” he whispered.

And, it truly was.

I’m- Crying

Married , engaged, parents (toddlers) Parents (teens)

TJ proposes to Cyrus on a bench after they graduate from college. When he gets down on one knee, Cyrus shrieks “yes!” before TJ can even ask him anything. 

Cyrus wants a big, extravagant wedding. He’s always the type to go way over the top with things. TJ wants a quiet wedding with their close friends and family. Cyrus caves because he remembers Bex and Bowie’s wedding and how special it was. 

They get two small wedding cakes, one blueberry and one double chocolate flavored. 

Buffy is TJ’s best man while Andi is Cyrus’s. Jonah is the ring bearer. 

They have a more Jewish wedding since Cyrus’s faith is so important to him. 

Their wedding takes place in the summer outside. It ends in a torrential downpour, which kind of sucks but also means that TJ and Cyrus get to live out their dream of kissing in the rain, this time as husbands. 

TJ takes Cyrus’s last name. Cyrus can’t stop calling him TJ Goodman.

After a couple years of work, they decide they want to start a family. Both are hesitant but ready to have kids of their own. The first girl they adopt is a dark haired sweetheart who reminds Cyrus of his Bubbe, so they name her Rose. They adopt another girl named Emily two years later. 

As toddlers, Emily and Rose are either best friends or complete enemies. They love to play together as well as torment each other. TJ and Cyrus get overwhelmed having two toddlers at once. At the end of the day, they’re both so exhausted they can barely move. However, it’s totally worth it. 

As Emily and Rose get a bit older, they adopt another younger boy. TJ says they should name him after their favorite artists like his parents did. It’s kind of a joke, but also he’s kind of being serious. Cyrus quickly rejects they idea, but comes up with a great homage to TJ’s real name. They name him Theo, as a shorter, improved alternative to Thelonious. 

Emily and Rose love taking care of their younger brother. They constantly bring him to tea parties. He slobbers all over everything, but they don’t seem to mind. 

Time goes by way too fast. Their kids start growing up, and before they know it, they’re teenagers. Cyrus and TJ quickly learn that teenagers are a whole new level of difficult to parent. Luckily, with Cyrus being a school psychologist, he is pretty good at talking and solving conflicts. 

Theo has problems with bullying at some point in time. TJ wants to march right up to the kid who had the audacity to bully his son and tell him off. Even though Cyrus also feels a strong urge to do that, he manages to hold himself back and talks to the principle instead. 

Rose and Emily fight with each other a lot as they become teenagers. There comes a point in time where they hardly even talk to each other. The two of them are so close that they always end up coming back together, though. 

The two girls constantly pester Theo, but they also are protective over him possibly even more than Cyrus and TJ themselves. No one messes with their little brother. 

Their favorite thing to do is outings as a family on the weekends when they can all be together. Even though as teenagers their kids are more embarrassed to be seen with them, they still always look forward to these outings.

New Beginnings (Ep 1): Andi begins her classes at SAVA and struggles to make friends on her first day. Meanwhile at Grant High, Buffy, Jonah and Cyrus attempt to navigate the school and it’s social structure. Bex and Bowie find out something shocking at a doctor’s appointment.

What I Was Born To Do (Ep 2): Andi tries out for the SAVA musical and is disappointed at her role. Buffy and Marty disagree over something for the first time. Cyrus is still trying to get over TJ who hasn’t spoken to him since summer break.

A Driscoll Family Reunion (Ep 3): Buffy’s family has its annual family reunion and her friends are invited. A massive secret is revealed and Buffy is left wondering why her parents never told her about it.

Some Secrets Are Worth Keeping (Ep 4): Buffy is still realing over what she found out in the previous episode, Marty tries to comfort her. Cyrus decides to come out to his parents but their reaction isn’t what he expected. Andi finds out that Bex may be pregnant, and that her parents don’t want her to know.

Party Through The Night (Ep 5): The gang is invited to their first high school party, and things get interesting when Marty’s older sister shows up.

I Put A Spell On You (Ep 6): Halloween is here, and the gang debates going trick or treating since they are high schoolers now. Marty’s sister Addie holds a haunted house that Bowie and Bex get lost in. Celia struggles to find candy at the last minute.

No Hablo Ingles (Ep 7): After witnessing ICE detain one of their classmates, Andi and Jonah decide to protest by refusing to speak English for an entire week. A new student who doesn’t speak English arrives and Buffy is the only one who speaks Spanish, so she’s asked to help them adjust.

It’s All Happening (Ep 8): It’s showtime for the SAVA musical, and Andi is nervous to perform. Bex and Bowie decide to come clean about the pregnancy to Andi - just before she goes on stage. The others get lost while trying to get to the school.

It’s My Marty And I’ll Cry If I Want To (Ep 9): Buffy is disgruntled when sophomore girls won’t stop flirting with Marty, and he doesn’t stop them. This leads to a massive fight between them, and Buffy realizes that she may like him more than she thought. Andi, Jonah, TJ, and Cyrus try not to interfere.

The L Word (Ep 10): Buffy struggles to deal with the previous episode’s relevation, and also finding out who her secret brother is. Andi meets someone new at SAVA, and finds herself falling head over heels. Cyrus realizes he may not be over TJ as much as he thought he was, and realizes that the new student is also catching his eye.

If That’s What It Is (Ep 11): Cyrus is shocked when the new student James asks him out. Buffy and Marty reconcile, after her meeting with her brother doesn’t go the way she wanted it to. Andi starts hanging out with Astoria more, and finds out something surprising about her.

Hold Up (Ep 12): The gang tries to entertain themselves when they get put on hold while trying to get concert tickets. Bex and Bowie find out something about the baby that could change everything.

SAVA or Nada (Ep 13): When her classmates find out that she was the result of a teen pregnancy, Andi is bullied relentlessly. She tries to stand up for herself, but the bullying just gets worse. Now, Andi must make a choice, continue going to SAVA even though she’s miserable there or transfer to Grant High and loose the opportunity of a lifetime.

This has to be the biggest stretch ever, but, what if tj is giving Cyrus a chocolate chocolate chip muffin and Cyrus is having some gay panic, and then tj asks what’s wrong and Cyrus runs away

um…. we are starved for content……. so i zoomed in on TJ and Cyrus in the Spoon scene in 2x21…….

TJ leaning in to tell Cyrus something?? Cyrus laughing at whatever he said????

TJ looking down at his phone to re-read Cyrus’s list????? and Cyrus’s face! he panics at the end like “oh no dont make me do all of those things just a somersault is fine”

ITS ONLY SEASON 2, SOMERSAULT HASN’T HAPPENED YET, THE LOOKBACK HASN’T HAPPENED YET, SWINGSET 2.0 HASN’T HAPPENED YET, COSTUME DAY PLAN HASN’T HAPPENED YET, “I’LL DRIVE YOU THERE” HASN’T HAPPENED YET, AND TJ’S ALREADY GOT THE INSTINCT TO WANT TO HOLD CYRUS’S FUCKING HAND I’M–

and one season later he’ll actually do it
