Dark times all around but there are still people out there who love you

Do not hurt yourself, do not hurt others, get help, talk to someone, anyone. Humanity has survived before and we can do it now if we all just support each other. My country and my people let me down and endangered my life but there’s nothing I or anyone else can do about that so let’s try to spread the love that is so clearly lacking.

I feel like there is a difference between Trump supporters and people who voted for him. I think he made a mockery of the presidential office, but I still voted for him, because under Biden, my family could have been severely negatively impacted, even more so than under Trump. It saddens me, because I always feel attacked that I voted for him, even though I think actual Trump supporters need an intervention. I just had to do what I felt was best for my family. I'd love your insights here.

There is a lot to unpack here and I do have a lot of insights into this so:

First I wanna say that the ironic thing is that while you feel that Tr*mp is going to be better for your family he is also at the very same time, severely negatively impacting mass groups of people, me and my family included, and when I say negatively impact I mean he puts people lives in my communities directly in danger

I’m genuinely curious as to what negative impact Biden would have caused for your family that pushed you to vote for the president again

I’m a black woman and a Latina and it’s really scary and mind boggling to me that for you and for many who voted for him the first time and this time around, his blatant racism and xenophobia and lying isn’t a dealbreaker for you

It’s a different kind of reality seeing and hearing him and his supporters vehemently agree that Mexico is crawling with murderers and bad people, separating children from their families and then failing to reunite them all even still, or to hear him use racist dog whistle terms about black people and back law enforcement and call us thugs and not address the root of our outrage, it makes my stomach hurt

As does hearing him speak about other countries, seeing his racism and xenophobia and hate shine through in his actions and policies from LGBTQ+ rights to women to quite literally everyone and every issue, that carries weight, that has consequences that will last far longer than you realize

If a man like that is someone you still vote for even if you think he’s a mockery, even with how terrible he is, even with right wing white supremacist groups supporting him, even with how many lives have been lost due to his negligence, that means the life/lifestyle, you lead really needs to be thought about and given a look at

Bc your words are telling me that you and your family walk through this world at the expense of a million others, what’s the price others will have to pay for the way your family will benefit off a white supremacist system of government held up not challenged by Tr*mp?

You can tell yourself you’re not like his supporters, you can say there is a difference between voters and supporters or his fanatics all you like but the truth is that they’re two sides of the same coin. I just think those who say they vote/voted for him but don’t like him as a person or don’t agree with him all the time are better at lying to themselves that they aren’t complicit or contributing to the hate he sows everywhere he goes

Many who have studied fascism or come from countries/been through periods of history where fascist governments and leaders were in power have said numerous times that we are already several stages into the process of becoming a fascist country under him and there is no amount of benefit to your family or any other group of people that man could provide that will make the choice of voting for him ever ok

Tr*mp is a symptom of a larger disease in American society and government and how its systems work since it was founded all the way to now, I am wary of Biden for many reasons and him taking office will not change the fact that behind the presidency the same sickness in how this country operates still remains, but Biden isn’t a fascist and can be reasoned with, he’s a million more times likely to actually listen and can begin to undo the damage Tr*mp has done and that is the only right choice for the greater good

There’s a reason you feel so attacked for voting for him and a reason why there’s such strong pushback and it’s because it’s not just a difference of opinion or party or policy, real people will suffer under him and they have been, we have been and I just can’t find room to feel sympathetic or play nice with those who vote for a man and an administration that don’t want people like me in their ideal world view

Excuse me wtf?!

I was do soft and then ...

okay so... when geralts on the road and doesn’t have a lot of money for a while, his hair grows right? so imagine this: geralt with shoulder length or longer hair, and it’s so long that his classic half down half up doesn’t keep it out of his face anymore. after watching him grumble about it for days, jaskier steps in. he had four sisters and can do hair pretty well, if he does say so himself.

jaskier, watching geralt rip tangles from his hair after a fight and cringing: come here

geralt: what

jaskier: just do it

geralt: fine but wtf

jaskier gently takes geralts hair and brushes through it with his fingers, undoing all the knots and smoothing it out. he then starts braiding it, a single, simple braid that goes down geralts back.

it becomes a tradition. geralt keeps his hair longer, and jaskier does it for him. increasingly complex, multiple braids that end together, messy buns for when they’re camping. jaskier humming his newest song and braiding small strands all over geralts head while geralt sharpens his sword at his feet. it relaxes both of them, a moment of vulnerability after the excitement of the road every day.

heads turn while they walk down the town road and into the tavern because is that a Scary Witcher(™) with dandelions braided into his hair???? what the goddamn fuck. (geralt had been unsure but jaskier insisted he “needed some color contrast because all he wears is black leather honestly geralt” and geralt didn’t want to start that argument plus a part of him was glad, it made the children less scared of him)

geralts hair is always wavy when he takes the braids out at night (jaskier has yelled at him reminded him any many times that he can’t sleep in them because it’s bad for his hair)

and geralt gets used to it. (a part of him loves enjoys it)

and then one day jaskier leaves, and he doesn’t come back.

geralt cuts his hair with a sword and hates it almost as much as he hates himself.

Jaskier did not shiw his ankles?! 😲😲 The audacity, the indecorum!!

Geralt trying to be respectful but there's only so much a man can take

People call Geralt old fashioned, as if just because he’s nearly a century old he doesn’t understand modern sensibilities. But that’s not it. He understands perfectly well that the world changes, but he still thinks there’s some value in a certain sense of decorum.

Jaskier, however, has no decorum whatsoever.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that he goes around with his doublet undone, showing off a lacy undershirt beneath – because that’s the fashion now, apparently, and young people these days have no problem with that sort of thing – there are even times when he removes his doublet entirely, leaving Geralt to deal with a lot of billowy shirtsleeves and uncomfortably transparent fabric.

It’s hard not to look, okay, when there’s all of… that on display. (Broad shoulders, the firm swell of his chest muscles, a tangling of dark hair that you want to dig you fingers into -)

It’s even worse when Jaskier choose to roll his sleeves up past his elbows (revealing the soft, pale skin of his forearms which aches to be kissed). Worse still when Jaskier continues to gesture wildly as he talks, hands flicking back and forth in Geralt’s field of view, constantly flitting distractions of skin and joints and blue veins barely visible.

Geralt steels himself. It’s just Jaskier being Jaskier. It doesn’t mean anything. He ought to be ashamed of his… blatant ogling. It’s unbecoming of a man his age.

“… Geralt? are you listening?” Jaskier snaps his fingers in front of Geralt’s face and his attention is caught by the delicate lines of his wrist, the scent of lavender emanating from his pulse point, the faint, faint sound of blood throbbing beneath the skin.

He schools his face into a carefully neutral frown. “Hmm,” he says, hoping that will induce Jaskier to drop it.

Jaskier narrows his eyes but says nothing, soon distracted by throwing himself onto the room’s single bed. “My feet are killing me,” he complains, one hand pressed to his forehead dramatically. “And it’s all your fault for making me walk everywhere.”

Geralt averts his eyes as Jaskier removes his boots and peels off his socks, damn him. Some things were not meant to be done in company.

Jaskier thrusts one foot toward Geralt and wiggles his toes. “Give me a foot rub?” he says, as if that was something you casually asked your friends to do.

Geralt makes the mistake of glancing over and is greeted by not only the elegant arch of his foot, but also a shapely, fine-boned ankle and the soft, inviting swell of a calf.

He feels light headed. His heart is pounding. This is beyond the pale, even for Jaskier. His ankle is right there. It’s indecent. It’s scandalous. It’s downright shameful.

Geralt commits the sight to memory for… later consideration.

“Come on,” Jaskier wheedles. “Help a fellow traveller out. I’ll call for a bath and we can share the tub while you massage my toes.”

The… the audacity. The impropriety. The blood is roaring in his ears. He thinks he might faint.

He sets his face into his most intimidating grimace and growls, “Fuck off, bard.”

Jaskier just laughs, high and light. “Oh, Geralt, you really are too much fun.”

Geralt pouts. He doesn’t see what’s so damn funny.

I'm feeling old... I only recognised like a third of them

Gen Z Slang (Steve Rogers)

Gen Z Slang (Steve Rogers)

Anonymous asked: Omg ur dream about teaching gen z slang…what if sam taught Steve “hip” phrases but misleads him into thinking they’re romantic even though they’re just straight up Pervy Rjxjdjdj

Thank you for sending this in lmao!! Masterlist linked in bio :)  Steve Rogers x Reader with Sam Wilson Warnings: sex jokes

Steve repeated what he read off the text Sam sent him, “I want to ram you.” He scrunched his nose up, not understanding how that sentence stood for asking someone out, in a romantic way. Sam was trying to teach him some gen z slang, so he could have the courage to ask you out, and flirt with you. Steve’s been crushing on you for a while now, and hopefully with the addition to his vocabulary, he’d go on a date with you.

“I bet you have a great WAP?” Steve tried out, saying it to himself in the mirror. He read a few more of the texts that Sam sent him, shaking his head in confusion. Sam texted him saying Steve needed to send a video of him saying it, so he pressed the camera app, sliding to the video.

He pressed record, facing it to the mirror, to see his whole body while he worked up the courage to say it in what he thought was a romantic way. “We should play strip Jenga together sometime.” He mumbled out, furrowing his eyebrows at the words. Jenga was a game that Sam told him about before, and it seemed fun, and saying “strip Jenga” was another way of saying he wanted to have a game night with you sometime.

“I’m a simp for you.” He pushed out, louder this time. Simp, by what Sam told him, was an admirer, someone that cared for another. And Steve smiled at that one, thinking it was a great way to start the conversation he wanted to have with you later.

“Hindsight is 2020 when I think about you.” That one sounded sweeter than the others to him, Sam told him that it was a very romantic statement. He shifted his hand through his hair, almost nervously as he thought of your smile.

“Wanted to let you know, you could hit it for free.” Hit what though? Steve wondered, shaking his head. He ended the video, pressing send. In the meantime, he saw that Sam sent more slang to use, and Steve walked out the bathroom, practicing them.

Steve groaned as he saw the long list, realizing that he needed to use at least a few of them to get your attention. “I’m baby, and I want to 69 you.” He said loudly, not caring that people gasped and stared at him as he walked through the hallway.

“Come and vibe check on this rocket ship.” He worded out, as he sat in the kitchen, looking up to see that Sam had arrived. He was laughing hard, replaying the video repeatedly, before he glanced back to Steve.

Sam grinned to him, wrapping his arm around his back as he laughed more. “Hey, these are good, you should go tell Y/n soon, I’ll take a video of it for you.” He encouraged Steve. He backed away before letting out another laugh, and Steve stood up with a beaming smile.

“Thanks, I’ll go do it now.”

Everyone always wants to talk about Hook or Pan. Everyone always wants to debate which one is good and which is evil - who we’re supposed to follow and who we aren’t. The Peter Pan mythos has pretty much shrunk down to nothing but Hook and Pan (Hook, SyFy’s Neverland, Pan, OUAT, etc). Occasionally Tinkerbell factors in (Hook, Disney’s Tinkerbell, OUAT, etc). There’s one character, however, that always gets sidelined - which is puzzling since they are the main character of both the play and the book. That character is, of course, Wendy Darling.

Peter Pan is Wendy’s coming of age story. Wendy who decides to run away from home. Wendy who realizes that she must grow up - and that there’s no shame in that. Wendy who sees Peter as deficient and sees Hook as empty and decides that, no, she doesn’t want to be a part of that. Wendy gets the adventure she’s always wanted and she turns away because she realizes that it’s lacking. She’s the only one who truly sees the hollowness of being young forever. Barrie even says “You need not be sorry for her. She was one of the kind that likes to grow up. In the end she grew up of her own free will a day quicker than other girls.”

People always debate on who the hero is. When they learn that Peter could be horrid they assume it has to be Hook. Of course, the answer is that neither of them are the hero. Wendy is the hero of the story. You’re not supposed to be like Peter, who kept every good and bad aspects of being a child and can’t tell right from wrong. You’re not supposed to be Hook, either. He let go of everything childish and loving about him and became bitter and evil. They’re both the extreme ends of the scale. You’re supposed to fall in the middle, to hold onto the things about childhood that make it beautiful - the wonder, the imagination, the innocence - while still growing up and learning morality and responsibility. You’re not supposed to be Hook. You’re not supposed to be Peter Pan.

You’re supposed to be Wendy Darling.
