AI can write ideas that seem creative, and that's enough to entertain you for a bit, but not nearly enough to create any meaningful works at scale.

If you think your favorite media's writers could be replaced by ai, either your favorites are trash or you're vastly overestimating the abilities of robots.

Ai are terrible writers. They cannot long term plan, they cannot fact check, they cannot keep up with changes to modern culture, they cannot keep consistent details, and they cannot do nuance. Why? Because they do not know what they're writing.

They recite mish-mashes of connecting words and structures from the giant libraries of text they've been trained on, but it's only that: A recital. Speaking without understanding.

Think about how bad autocorrect can be. Now imagine it predicting pages instead of singular words.

The real risk here is the flood of trash works they'll add to the world clogging up the market, and humanities ever-growing carbon footprint.

so im working on a painting of Scarland atm based on one of Scar's screenshots, and there was something bothering me about this bench

i was struggling to draw it because it wasn't aligning with the minecraft logic within my brain!! and i suddenly realized what was wrong- why was a TRAPDOOR, which can only be at the top or bottom of a block, IN THE MIDDLE??

(reference vs my 4th attempt, oh my god it wasnt going well i even gave up and made them full blocks)

and then it hit me. the entire sidewalk is raised one slab, and the sides of the bench are not upside down trapdoors but rather a NORMAL stair with a SLAB ON TOP!!

which allows scar to place the trapdoors at a PERFECT height, not on the ground, not an entire meter up, but a perfect 3/4 of a meter up where it ACTUALLY LOOKS COMFORTABLE TO SIT ON???? and also making the sides of the bench stick up without sticking OUT from its height??????

Goodtimeswithscar is an absolute master of his craft i swear to god this is just ONE DETAIL that he somehow made work SO PERFECTLY GOOD AAAAAAAAAARGH

for those of you unaware: there’s a website called hermitcraft.com! hypno maintains it, it’s a feed of hermitcraft videos, albeit normally a bit behind the youtube sub box. it’s also particularly great if, for example, the youtube ui is really distracting to you and makes it hard to tell if there’s new hermitcraft videos, if you want to see if a hermitcraft event has started posting, or if you just want to get to the hermits in specific. I recommend using the hermitcraft tab on the website, solely because the all videos tab sometimes misses some videos for some reason but the hermitcraft tab pretty reliably shows any video with hermitcraft in the title.

anyway I don’t bring it up this time just to tell you the website exists I bring it up because well,
