We may have a final design for these two :D
Their relationship
From twitter meme
Red.
The color of blood and fire. Wrath and violence. The color of Fervour. The color of Lamb's Crown.
Until it's not.
Cyan.
Otherwise known as "light blue". Taking up residence in the space between green and 'true' blue; opposite to red. Close cousin to turquoise...
Spirits are purple, Devotion is white, Corruption is black, and ill-intentions are green. Orange is... something. But we've yet to see cyan in action, what would be Fervour's counterpart. Which is odd for something that is the second-most present color on the tarot cards.
And it's clearly a color that's part of the Red Crown's toolkit, yet it's not one that manifests through the Lamb, while red and white do.
So... what is the opposite of Fervour? I suppose, first...
Fervour is the physical manifestation of the devotion directed towards rival Gods. It's likely the exact same as normal (white) devotion, Lamb just perceives it differently because it's not for them. And while it can't be used to trigger Divine Inspiration (a deity channeling itself through the vessel), it can be used for magic. Primarily curses, but it's also utilized in the Heavy Attacks and when healing using the Fleece of Fervour's Favor.
The only deity we know of that can use Fervour to trigger Divine Inspiration is the Great Fanatic, via the use of the Zealous Weapons. Which signals something about the deity he so fervently worships... but that's a topic for another time.
Fervour is: -harvested from slain enemies -the zeal of one's foes [Fervour's Harvest] -one's own malicious intent [Strength From Within] -resilience [Strength From Without] -representative of physical life (Bios/Shinzou) -the fire in Kudaai's forge -associated with the moon [Fervour's Host] -associated with the Fowler
Therefore, Fervour's opposite should be: -harvested from allies (slain? living?) -one's ally's apathy/insincerity -one's own benevolent intent -characterized by rigidity, fragility, and/or vulnerability -representative of spiritual life (Psuche/Kokoro) -associated with water -associated with the sun
Fervour's association with Righteousness would also mean that its opposite is associated with Sinfulness. (wink wink, nudge) What is apathetic devotion? Insincere devotion? After thinking it over for ages, I came to a conclusion.
Where there is passion, there is indifference. Where there is desire, there is disinterest. Where there is earnestness, there is indecision.
'Of or relating to the coexistence within an individual of positive and negative feelings toward the same person, object, or action, simultaneously drawing that individual in opposite directions.'
Blood vs. Water. The blood of the covenant vs the water of the womb. Fire vs. Ice. The Hearts vs. The Lovers. Hunger vs. Satiation. Damnation vs. Blessings.
What is taken vs. What is given.
An entity that, though kind, inspires mixed feelings. Feelings that likely stem directly from that entity's poor emotional/mental strength in the face of adversity. The physical manifestation of contradiction.
And while there is no weapon set that aligns with Ambivalence, the Curse of the Tundra and the Icegore seem to be where cyan lies.
I kinda wanna write a story where it follows Shamura’s train of thought for a day
Like what would that look like through their eyes?
It would be a fun exercise
Crown Au: What if aside from being bound down, Narinder was put to sleep, indefinitely? What if the crown was the vessel instead, and the Lamb became it's carrier? And WHAT if there was no prophecy but the Lamb carried on to free him anyway because true love reigns?
Crownrinder??? A crown cannot sit under two brows? NO PROBLEM. Become the crown instead.
I want to explore the idea of Sheep culture prior to the Old Faith’s culling of the sheep.
I can’t stop thinking about bells, especially because of the Weeping Shrine, so thoughts below!
Sheep-folk were a predominantly peaceful and unremarkable artisan nomadic people. What made them stand out, was their invention of bell metal, a bronze with a higher quantity of tin that increases the rigidity. This gives the bronze a particularly resonance and melodious sound when made into instruments, particularly, bells.
No one remembers who or how bell metal was originally created, but in the ages following bells became both sacred symbol and important tool to the Sheep folk. Due to their nomadic nature, the sounds of their bells would help flocks stay together and find each other. Each flock made their bells with differing styles and thicknesses, so the tone would be the same in one flock, and different in another. When flocks crossed paths and decided to merged together their craft in bell-making and bronze work would be transformed through generations to harmonize once again.
Family lines would pass down bells generation to generation, some sheep having bells hundreds of years old woven in cloths alongside new, shiny metal.
The type, number, and size of bells could show anything from the age, skillset, and status of a sheep.
The largest bells would always be found on young lambs and flock Shepards. The young so that worrisome lambs wandering in curiosity could be found easily by parents. Shepards, the leader of a flock, so that the members under their care could easily follow as they lead through tranquil and treacherous paths alike.
Come the time of the genocide of the sheep, Old Faith cultists would keep the bells of fallen sheep as a token of their metal, shown off to the gods and their peers alike. Bells hang in great clusters from the sides of high-ranking cultists. Those sheep who once owned and treasured the bells long gone. The mix and density of different toned bells makes a clattering mess of sound, crude, soulless imitations of what once was.
A certain vessel in red takes great pleasure in ending the lives of those sheep-slaughterers. Reclaiming the bells and laying them to rest draped along Weeping Shrines for the memory of Sheep-folk. Bells carefully rung to separate flocks and join them once again on woolen threads on the shrines.
I don't remember who gave me this idea (I think it was @minotaur-asterion) but there was a headcanon post about all the voices dancing, and now here I am with a shitpost I put way too much effort into because my animator brain couldn't resist. When you get a song stuck in your head and all the voices who live there have a dance party, and you just gotta deal with it
Do a crime!
Thank you to @personrebloggingurpost for the amazing idea! 💗
