A movie review or something idk

Watched Astérix & Obélix et le Royaume Milieu (or Asterix & Obelix and the Middle Kingdom in English) with my family a few nights ago, with original French audio and subtitles. Even though my sister and I didn't want to watch it at first, as we've only ever seen the animated movies, we were pleasantly surprised.

It was ridiculously funny, and even though most of the French jokes may have fell flat with dubbing, some of them still shone through in any language, like when Obélix ran so fast the cart went over a lake, or the montage where the boat kept hitting the sides of the Red Sea.

And even though most of the movie just looked like cosplayers or LARP-ers with too much budget, they still stuck true to the comic's roots, and kept some of the hilarious cartoon/comic physics.

"[actor name] does The Thing" What thing?

"Lights go on [actor name]" Where are they?

"[actor name] grabs prop" WHAT PROP!?!? WHERE IS IT??

Do you ever leave yourself a note

And go “This is going to be very unhelpful when I read it later”

…and then do it anyway???

I learned from a professional writing guide that in brackets and quotation marks to put the punctuation inside, and the heading of that section was, word for word:

Don't Leave the Croissant Out in the Cold!

I swear... I can't find it but I swear that was it...

list of writing pet peeves that will likely keep me from reading something entirely off the top of my head:

excessive use of italics to denote intensity

repetitive sentence structure pattern e.g. "sighing, she dropped the book. standing, she lamented over yet another literary disappointment."

it's instead of its

misuse of dialogue tags e.g. "yes, I'm smiling out this sentence," they smiled. "don't worry about it."

no commas in vocative cases e.g. "gege I'm bald," he murmured.

misplaced punctuation wrt dialogue. "this hurts my eyes", it moaned. "make it stop".

to be continued

Tumblr Porn Bots Back On The Rise

Hey, just so ya'll know, the porn bots are also adding videos and photos onto their account! Many of which are extremely sexual and highly disturbing! So, if you can tell they are a bot just from the name, BLOCK THEM THERE. Do not, I repeat do not, try to scroll to find more 'evidence,' or you'll probably regret it.

From one Asexual to another, this is a warning.

YESSSSSS THANK YOU! I got diagnosed with juvenile arthritis when I was 8, and only just now got a mobility aid to help me, because since i've been in remission (touch wood) for the last 4-5 years, whenever I tell people I'm disabled they act really surprised or just... don't believe me... (for some reason)

But I'm so happy that this post showed up for me!

Friendly reminder that:

Young people can have arthritis too.

There are hundreds of life long conditions and diseases out there that are typically diagnosed between 12 and 30.

There is a vast difference between being tired and having chronic fatigue.

Just because you can’t tell that someone is unwell from looking at them, doesn’t mean that you should assume that they are ok.

Many chronic illnesses are life long, and incurable. Many of them are potentially fatal.

If you have a disease like Lupus, on good days you still feel like you have a bad flu, 24/7.

Many of the medications used to treat chronic conditions have side effects that can really affect someone’s self esteem - like extreme weight gain, skin changes and hair loss.

Most chronic illnesses have very little awareness - its unlikely that you’ve heard of Sjogren’s Syndrome, Scleroderma, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or Fibromyalgia.

However these diseases can cause symptoms as varied as joint pain, fatigue, constant nausea, kidney failure, pneumonia, photo sensitivity, full body rashes, paralysis, strokes etc.

So please remember that invisible illnesses exist too :)

I Saw This On Facebook And I Really Did Make A Good Faith Effort To Find The Post To Reblog, But I Failed

This is a Joe/Nicky spy AU and I need it right now. (Nicky, of course, is the Michelin critic. Joe is the actual spy.) @raedear when I think “spy AU” I think of you. Are you open to bribes? Abject pleading? How do I make this happen?
