Warner Bros will keep making Harry Potter media but not renew Sesame Street, a franchise that has done more public good than HP ever did. We are in hell.
As people continue to argue that intimacy isn’t necessary on TV, we’ll keep championing more of it. Intimacy matters. Romance matters. Consensual sex scenes that, yes, elevate the plot (and even if they didn’t) matter. We wrote about it for Severance’s “Attila,” and now it’s important to address it in School Spirits‘ “Anatomy of a Fallout Shelter.”

“They only used AI for like, two minutes in The Brutalist 🙄”
I DON’T FUCKING CARE THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE USED IT AT ALL
AI is never necessary, ESPECIALLY not in creative spaces, and what you lot aren’t getting is that this sets a precedent, if The Brutalist can get away with it, what’s to stop other films using it and in larger ways
What’s to stop films from using AI for writing and reciting lines, for generating background characters, for creating music and animation
Stop defending AI, I don’t care if they used it for two seconds or two hours, I don’t want it in media at all
my uni is like "80% of students already use ai like chatgpt so we're going to offer all our students access to ai for educational purposes!" like yall are a bunch of fucking dumbasses. students use chatgpt to CHEAT and have it do their essays for them. you are literally saying that cheating and plagiarism are okay now.
A single prompt uses about 500ml of water... with thousands of new prompts made every second... holy fucking shit.
It doesn't follow a single rule of art. No rule of thirds, no guiding lines, no colour theory... it's uncomfortable because lacks any kind of human perspective on what constitutes art & connection.
About 20% or more of your daily feed includes some kind of AI garbage that doesn't do anything to improve your experience. It doesn't need to be there.
It fuckin' sucks.
Can’t say I can trust any online communists who go out of their way to devalue the concept of labour.
Imagine a world where we use AI, not to make the rich even richer, but to smash the whole system that keeps us stuck in this endless cycle of pointless work. A world where AI takes over the boring, soul-destroying jobs we’re forced to do just to survive—jobs that the wealthy created to keep us tired, distracted, and always working for them. Instead of AI being used to track us, control us, and make money off our every move, it could be used to give us the basics that everyone deserves—food, housing, healthcare—all for free. We could finally live a life that isn’t just about working to survive, where we can actually focus on things that matter: art, creativity, connection—all the stuff that makes us human. We could escape the grind and the greed that keeps us trapped in a system built to exploit us. The problem is, right now, AI is just another tool for the rich to control us. They use it to track everything we do, make us buy stuff we don’t need, and keep us working longer hours for less. The people in power want a world where only they win, even if the rest of us suffer. That’s the AI they’re pushing—the cold, calculating kind that’s all about keeping us in line. But it doesn’t have to be like that. The kind of AI we need is decentralised, open, and accountable to us, not the greedy few. It should work for us, not the systems that abuse us. And if we want this future, we need to face it head-on: sustainability is the bottom line. Whether we stick with this capitalist nightmare or move toward an AI-driven utopia, AI will play a part in it. But if it’s going to be in our world, it has to be sustainable—because if we don’t make it that way, the planet itself will pay the price for the greed of a few. We need to make sure we have a world worth living in, and that starts with taking the power back from the ones who’ve sold us out.
I am fuming. My blood is boiling, omg.
I'm from the Netherlands, and a woman has just come forward that her likeness was used in making fake commercials. Y'all. This woman used to have a gambling problem, and since then has been giving interviews and warning people about the dangers of gambling.
A gambling website took one of these interviews about the dangers of gambling and used AI to instead have this woman say that she got this app recommended by a friend and that she won 12 million euros.
They took this woman's interview and twisted it until it's against everything she stands for. She has of course sought legal action and the case is being investigated.
I fucking hate AI so much!!! Fuck you, how DARE you?!
Writing using genAI is a special kind of lazy. You couldn't even be bothered to plagiarize the old fashioned way, noooooo, you had to use the Planet Killing Water Waster 3000 to do it for you. Incredible. Truly.
HELP MY BOSS IS TELLING US TO USE CHATGPT
FOR STUFF THAT IS GOOGLEABLE
SHE SAID AI IS A TOOL WE CAN USE IN OUR CLASSROOMS
EXCUSE ME WHAT
"It would make my heart happy if yall used ChatGPT" - boss
KILL ME
really really hate having to explain to people why relying on generative ai to do anything is bad. water consumption in a world thats already dying of thirst in places. the mental degradation it causes. the unavoidable capitalist exploitation of the weakness and reliance it builds.
"oh i just used it for a paragraph, and i cleaned it up and made sure it looked good."
you couldn't write a fucking paragraph on your own? there is literally no way you could say what you just said that would make me feel anything remotely positive.
That's not an ad, that's a threat, and a scary one by the way
Those who avoid anti-AI discourse are the ones who don't like getting exposed or called-out as lazy or brain-dead.
Deep down, they already know that.
uh...yeah cause it's stealing from real actual humans who are good at it
wait whats wrong with chatgpt :(
just the minor little issue of it actively killing the planet, draining the creative marrow from everything it touches, and posing an existential threat to workers, responsibility, national security, and, oh yeah, privacy.
imagine a machine that not only guzzles electricity but also flattens human expression into soulless, regurgitated slop while quietly replacing entire industries. and let’s not forget. every word it generates is a tiny little middle finger to the concept of accountability. so, yeah. nothing major. just a slow-motion apocalypse wrapped in a shiny, user-friendly interface
What even. I’m just… it’s YOUR book. YOUR fantasy world. Aren’t you at least… interested in it?
Guys PLEAAAASSSSEEEEEEEE stop using AI for fanart. I know so many amazing people who literally spend HOURS creating art. HOURS. And they do it for free, or for very little. To use AI for fanart so incredibly insulting to them.
Want art? Find something that's created and boost their work by reblogging!
Better yet, commission an artist! So many of these people are using commissions to pay for rent, or other bills, or fucking top surgery. Don't take that from them.
Stop using fucking AI.
I'm a disabled and chronically ill writer. I can't write every time i want to. I can't use a keyboard or handwrite for disability reasons. The only way i can write is by typing in the notes app on my phone. This is also painful and i can write a few hundred words at most.
Isn't it interesting how i still wouldn't consider using AI to write my stories instead? If the only way for me to write my stories is by using voice to text and i can write only a single word everyday i still wouldn't choose AI
Fuck AI and fuck you for pretending to care about disability people just so you can steal art made by disabled people
Let me just remind you guys that...
"content creator" is a corporate word.
Hey writers!
As of January 16, 2025, Microsoft has decided to automatically enable their AI service, CoPilot, on Word - even if you've previously turned off the service. They've also changed the process to disable it.
If you want to disable it again, go to:
Options -> CoPilot -> Uncheck "Enable CoPilot"
Hope this helps!
Write it shitty, write it scared, write it without a clue but don't you be so spineless and have an AI write fanfic for you.
Your comments about AI users being talentless tells me you don't really understand art. It's about the product, not the tools. You can waste your life learning how to use a thousand of brushes and programs and you'll be easily outshone by someone who uses AI to draw what they want. The 'talentless' usually crow on about techniques and tools and miss the point of making art.
"You can waste your life learning how to use a thousand brushes and programs" And there, this is the attitude of the non-artists-AI-lovers in a nutshell. You see, drawing artists like using brushes. "Someone who uses AI to draw what they want."
No. If you instruct the AI to do something, you aren't 'drawing' anything. "The talentless" The 'talentless' is you. Telling an AI what image you want to be drawn doesn't require any talent.
Remember that whole strike thing? What the fuck was that for again?
There’s no going back once you open that gate. This is fucking depressing.
Several million real ass human occupations paying 3 crisp dollars and a pat on the ass to experience literal sisyphean torture and live in a cardboard box and you spent several small countries in money to build a robot that can shit out badly written books that nobody has the money to buy, the time to read, or the learned intellectual capacity to analyze critique and learn from
The next person who tells me to save time with an AI crapbasket is getting a Canon LS-100TS 10 digit calculator shoved up their ass
there's a lot to hate but i think my least favourite thing about AI generated images is that now every time i see a really cool artwork on the internet, instead of childlike wonder i experience suspicion
You know what, fuck everyone who hates AI "art" but still uses c.ai and other fuckeries. Would it be that hard to look up a fanfiction or a fanart? I have zero respect towards you. Even you could create what you can't find, but instead decide to chat 24/7 with a fucking bot and then not quit moaning about how short it's memory is. HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF JUST CREATNG SOMETHING YOURSELF? No, it won't look as goo as it does in your head, but my god, at least you didn't waste as much water in the meantime! Also, pls stop using chatgpt for every little inconvenience and homework, it really says more about you than the difficulty of the task in question. Aredhel out.
I think the best way to fight this AI shit is just to support actual creators. The cat's out of the bag with AI; our data's going to be taken and used without our consent whether we like it or not, so maybe we should put efforts into holding up those who create their own stuff. Comment/interact on people's writings and art. Make it worth them posting; make it clear that what the people are interested in isn't generated stuff, but things that people have actually done themselves. It's a drop in the ocean, but showing creators that it's them that deserve the support at least serves to cut off a tiny bit of oxygen to these AI hogs - and make a difference to creatives who are trying against hope to share with a community.
people using generative ai to write fanfiction for them is CRAZY. stay up until four in the morning hopping back and forth between your pinterest boards, a random synonyms website, and google docs where you’re stuck in the middle of a sentence deciding whether to refer to a character by their name or hair colour as the lord intended.
Appreciation post for all the beginner artists who work hard despite the AI looming over us. You are fabulous. You are precious. Keep up the hard work, you are needed.
