In a way, she said, mathematics research feels like writing a novel. “There are different characters, and you are getting to know them better,” she said. “Things evolve, and then you look back at a character, and it’s completely different from your first impression.”

For all lesbians anywhere,

You don’t need a girlfriend, partner or wife.

Girlfriends, partners and wives are (or should be) wonderful to have around but you are so far from needing one. So far.

Be an independent woman. Find the next step forward with your life and make it. Clap yourself. Take care of yourself, make friends, don’t starve yourself for love.

Do not for one second attach your worth to a woman that’s not there. Burn from your own need of you. Flare up under the magnificence of yourself in this terrifying and gorgeous world. Find your worth in your own work and beauty and strengths. Make them your own. Put all the pain and fear and sweat into this realisation.

Become a knight under your own banner. Not hers.

You do not need a girlfriend, partner or wife. Want is different from need. If you think you need a girlfriend, then you need yourself.

men’s loyalty to violence is disturbing.  when women want a life free of abuse, assault, threat, & coercion, men’s first suggestion is “learn to fight back. learn to defend yourself”.  i don’t want my life to be a fight.  i don’t want to “prove myself” through inflicting pain & fear.  i don’t find violence and physical conflict fulfilling or self-actualising.   they’re exhausting & dehumanizing

As a gnc woman and lesbian, the near complete lack of people like myself in media can be really alienating and disheartening. Whereas normally its pretty easy to find recommendations for helpful/enjoyable/interesting books of certain types,  i noticed tht i found it kinda difficult to get recommendations of books about being a gnc woman/ books with gnc lesbian protag/ lesbian fiction in general tht doesnt objectify Lesbian women etc, aside from constantly harassing friends for advice and scouring the corners of the internet/stalking people blogs.

Ive compiled a (somewhat short, but hopefully helpful!) list of books that deal with this subject matter, in hope that someone might find it helpful. Idk maybe this is stupid and nobody will even care but i know as a teenager i would have rly appreciated finding smth like this, so I’ve provided some recommendations for lesbian books, with an emphasis on butch/gnc representation, along with some notes n stuff.
