Imagine If One Of The Games Was Just One Of Those Large Inflatable Obstacle Courses That Some Pools

like these things???? but bigger. honestly the point isn't to kill players or twist their hearts and emotions or anything the point is just for the game masters to have a laugh at like 8 people rushing across this as it gradually gets wetter and wetter and more slippery and them screaming as they fall off.

Heavenly Tyrant Is Out Today! It's A Weird Feeling After So Many Years Of Losing Hair Over It. It Didn't

Heavenly Tyrant is out today! It's a weird feeling after so many years of losing hair over it. It didn't feel like I was capable of finishing the book until I wrote the last word. The publication process was not a happy one. I'm not doing any events for it, not even a launch. I'm typing this while lying in bed and thinking about what a terrible year it's been. We joked about 2020 being the worst year ever, yet every year since has been progressively worse. And the coming years do not show any indication of being better.

But a big theme in Heavenly Tyrant is that wherever there is oppression, there WILL be resistance. I have had as much heartwarming support from peers, friends, and readers as I've faced heinous shenanigans this year. When a very, very famous author I met this summer asked me "Are you a controversial person?" after I told him about the stuff I was going through, I answered "To many who hold power? Yes. To regular people? I don't think so."

I want to thank all of you who gave me the faith to say something like that. Most people I know are on the right side of history. If you aren't - I don't want to know you.

Anyway, the book. Heavenly Tyrant is SO different from Iron Widow that I'm pretty nervous about whether people would like it. I want to ask you all to adjust your expectations going in. You're not going to get another breakneck-paced story about a Girlboss Going Smash. The smashing was the easy part. Rebuilding what she broke into something better is much, much harder. The story is a lot slower by necessity, and the problems she faces are way more complicated to deal with. I also ask that you read until the end before making a judgement because, well, developments you don't like might not be endgame! And there's a book 3 coming! (This was always supposed to be a trilogy; it's just that my publisher was only willing to buy 2 books from me at first. They changed their minds after seeing the preorder numbers for IW.)

Finally, I want to bring everyone's attention to the five songs the Bookish Songs Collective wrote specifically for Iron Widow! They're now available to stream whenever you get your music. It blows my mind that MY book would get such epic music?! I can't thank or praise them enough. Seriously, CHECK THE EP OUT.

Incorrect Quote

Kuina: Everytime I hear someone talking about updog, I’m torn between not wanting to fall for it and wanting to help them complete their joke. Chishiya: Okay, but what is updog? Last Boss: Updog is a long sausage in a bun, often served with ketchup, mustard, onions, and/or relish. Arisu: Not, that’s a hot dog. An updog is when a new version or patch of an application is released. Niragi: No, that's an update. You’re thinking of the fourth largest city in Sweden. Usagi: Surely, that’s Uppsala, where’s updog is the giant spider in Harry Potter. Kuina: That’s Aragog. Updog is a symbol conventionally used for an arbitrarily small number in analysis proofs. Arisu: You’re thinking of epsilon. Updog is an upward-moving air current. Last Boss: No, that’s an updraft. An updog is the modern version of a henway. Chishiya: What’s a henway?? Kuina: Oh, about five pounds.

“Is katara the fire Lord since she’s the one that beat azula” no. Duh. Azula forfeited the agni Kai by shooting her lighting at katara, so by the time katara beat her the agni Kai was over.

The real question we should be asking is if using dynamite and other explosives in an Agni Kai is allowed and in turn if sokka and toph can become join fire Lord. (Sokka uses the explosives, toph blackmails him into a joint leadership)

you know Jenga boom? the game made to entice kids back into Jenga by adding explosions? yeah well imagine if that was a game. but instead of the small thing its massive blocks that they have to push out and stuff and all take goes. however there's a twist: its a team game. “ohh but Jenga isnt-” shut up. This aint Jenga this is murder. anyway more explanation  they gotta use the blocks they remove to build a stair case out of the room ( idk imagine there's a door high up). If one player knocks it down, boom boom boom not more living. It the timer runs out? boom boom boom no more living. So they gotta go together to take turns to push out the blocks. its pretty easy to win the hard part would just be working together when Jenga is so ingrained as like a solo game

the most unrealistic thing about this show is the lack of field trips. like where’s the geography kids going to visit some random ass gardens in London that apparently have fancy plants but you went during winter because your schools thick as shit so all your seeing is dead grass? where's the drama kids being taken to a play for their GCSE only to realise taking 30 kids on a train who all think they know better then you and probably do is actually hell on earth?  wheres the history students going to the britihs mueseum and laughing over the naked statues ( aka the genetalia because teens are dumb) and whining that their feet hurt and buying way to much gift shop items for students who refuse to pay for food in the diner? like okay no I get not showing the first two ideas but for a show that literally revolves around a history time period them NEVER visiting a museum ( and no the display thing held in the library doesnt count) is such a pissy thing to do.  like imagine Fabian and Nina sneaking off to look at the egyptian part, Jerome and alfie trying to pretend to be art critics to pick up ladys b ut they accdentally start speaking to someone really smart and Jerome sorta hoes “oh shit...im into this please tell me more) and Alfie is pissed because ???? what no their meant to mock the posh twats who like this stuff together! and Patrica and Mara both trying to distract the teacher from realising their missing 2 studetns but for completely different reasons. Patrica because she knows why they’ve gone, mara because she thinks they’ve snuck off to make out and honestly ? ya girls proud of Fabian for finally getting a date that ISNT a picnick so shes willing to extend how long it takes for her to read each induvisual info plack. Mick is just trying to rember how to read and Amber is complaining about how the fashion is so cool why cant they focus on that instead

You know I do think it's interesting how strongly Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) makes the point that bringing someone back from the dead is inherently selfish.

I've seen it elsewhere but not nearly as unequivocally and plainly put. First, we have Majhal in episode 4 - an alchemist so obsessed with bringing back his dead love, he completely fails to notice that she survived and returned to him. And even once the truth is revealed... he rejects her, since she's not the ~perfect girl~ from his memories, but an old woman - an actual person, with an actual life.

And if you missed it there, we then meet Tucker, so obsessed with keeping his lifestyle and success as a State Alchemist he does, you know, that. And then he goes on to become obsessed with bringing her back - but not her, not really, as he straight-up tells Ed in the 5th laboratory - he wants the girl from his memories, the perfect, unchanging doll.

Both times, we see that those obsessed with bringing someone back from the dead aren't interested in bringing back a person, with thoughts and feelings and their own independent life to live - no, they want their idea of that person, the glowing angel who could never change, never grow, and never go wrong. And that also goes for Ed and Izumi too - Ed was so obsessed with bringing his mother back that he ignored Pinako, ignored the family that took him in, and selfishly put his brother's life at risk... for which he paid the price. Izumi lost her ability to have future children, any of them, stuck on a dream on the child she could have had. Both didn't want that mother/child - they wanted their loved ones, the ones they dreamed of, not the ones that were actually there.

Most times resurrection is brought up in media, it's with the lesson that "oh, the cost is too high", "oh, you're disturbing their rest", "oh, they don't come back right." It's rare to see it put so clearly, so obviously, so horrifically that actually, no, even the fact that you attempt it - even the fact that you want to - is an inherently selfish act, that turns your back on life and the living to chase a dream that may not have ever existed.

It's an interesting take on the whole idea, of death and life and memory and obsession. For all that 2003 dropped the ball on the ending, I do love the development they gave to the characters!
