So you are telling me that some author wrote a male character that is supposed to be The bully™ but also decided to make him witty in like "fast reflect to answer insults with worse funny insults" type, gave him remarkable good grades, make him caring for his image and hygiene, made clear that he loves his mum and his royalty is with his family no matter what (even when they're all in the bad side), show him uses sarcasm and irony since he's young and he's doing it well, make him love attention and wanting people to like him, put him in a position where he can fit the "LGBT+ character that has loving parents but if they knew they would be abusive" trope, even put a scene where he can decide if the hero gets caught or not and him deciding that THE HERO IT'S NOT GETTING CAUGHT EVEN WHEN IT COULD BENEFIT HIS FAMILY
Can I send in a request for Draco Malfoy in which the reader is in Gryffindor house and is dating him, while being part of the trio? Her birthday is coming up and he hesitates at first to plan a surprise party for her with them in Gryffindor tower? It turns out to be probably one of the best parties she’s ever gotten or has ever gone to? (My birthday is coming up on the 18th) 😁😊
Draco Malfoy and the surprise party.
[Notes: YES BABY! OF COURSE! Happy birthday btw, I hope you like it. I tried to make it a neutral as I could since I don't know your age, but I hope you know that this one is specially about you.]
There are no warnings for this work.
Breakfast at Hogwarts used to be hectic, but Draco Malfoy's bubbling nerves were making it unbearable. It was September 17, his girlfriend's birthday, and there was a huge possibility that all his plans would fall apart. He had played dumb last night despite her hint about sleeping together even though it was a weekday, but he knew that she had wanted to start her birthday with him. He felt bad, but hoped what he had in store would make up for you.
As breakfast was ending, he glanced at his girlfriend who was laughing as she saw Ron Weasley's food-stained face. May Merlin save those three if they failed to do their part. He got up from his seat and went to greet her with a kiss on the cheek, acting like it was a day like any other. Just like everyone else was doing, Granger and Potter averted their gaze as soon as he got closer and Weasley's noise of disgust was not far behind. At the Gryffindor table they were calm, except for Longbottom who couldn't look at her without turning red.
"Morning, Draco" she said with bright eyes that blinked at him.
"Morning, ready for your first class?" Her smile narrowed a bit, due to the fact that she was expecting a birthday greeting, but from the looks of it, everyone had forgotten.
Her friends didn't say anything to her either and had had plenty of time in the common room before breakfast. She could give her boyfriend more time, but that didn't mean she wasn't a little disappointed.
He accompanied her to her class, one she shared with Ravenclaw, and on the way entertained her with a simple chat. Not giving any indication that he knew what day it was. Unfortunately and fortunately that was the only time they saw each other in the morning, since they shared classes after lunch and Draco could not accompany her to her classes without being late for his.
She kissed him goodbye, perhaps a little less enthusiastic than the other days, at the same time she saw the rest of her group of friends arrive at the classroom. A small downcast grimace settled on her face, The day was going to be very long and sad if none of her loved ones remembered her birthday.
With a sigh she walked into the classroom and took a seat next to Harry, while Ron and Hermione shared another desk. She quickly got into the conversation the three of them were having, trying to decide if it was better to tell them rather than wait.
***
The night was getting dangerously close, yet no one had wished her a happy birthday. But her hopes weren't over, Draco had told her to walk around after dinner. Hopefully, he would give her a small gift, kiss her with those breath-taking lips, and whisper the words she most wanted to hear.
After dinner, and a nice chat with her friends. With whom she really did not know what to do, they seemed so immersed in their lives that they wouldn't notice what's wrong. Draco went looking for her, took her by the hand and didn't hesitate to take her away from the Gryffindor table to take her to the gardens.
"I was waiting all day to be with you alone."
"Really? Why?" she returned, in a more hopeful tone than she would have liked"
"Because I regret turning down the offer you made me yesterday" He knew what she was thinking, so he decided to tease her a little.
"You better do, we could have started this day together."
"We could have, and we could have every ordinary day to ourselves."
Oh, Merlín, he did not.
Her heart cracked a little at his words. He was saying something so sweet but he didn't say the words that she wanted to. He was insinuating that they would stay together for life, yet he didn't knew her birthday.
Her hand clenched into a fist, much of her disappointment turning to anger. How dare he? After all the trouble they had to be together in the first place. All the fights and yelling she'd had with Harry, Ron, and Hermione, telling them that he was cool and really sweet once you met him. But it quickly deflated, they didn't remember either. No one in the whole damn school remembered.
She must have been quiet for a long time, because Draco released her hand and stroked her chin to place a long kiss on her lips. It felt bittersweet, it was so familiar and she loved kissing him, but now she felt like she had a whole new situation to deal with. When they parted, Draco wrapped her shoulders and they lay down on the grass, she couldn't help but be further away from him. She wanted to yell at him, cry until her eyes fall out, or do something, but to be honest she was dead tired, her head throbbing with the anticipation that she had all day. So she let him stay quiet and stroke her hair until the curfew almost ended.
He led her into the common room, knowing she was so quiet and subdued for her "forgotten" birthday. He didn't imagined that it would bother him so much to see her like this, he hoped that his gift and the party would fix it.
When they reached the portrait of the fat lady and she whispered the password, Draco held the portrait open after her. She walked into Gryffindor shuffling, when she noticed that the usual boisterous crowd was not there. Her back straightened alertly, it was totally silent until she felt the portrait clatter shut behind her.
She let out a little cry, before covering her mouth with her hands and feeling her eyes fill with tears. She look at the faces in the small crowd, Dean and Seamus were holding up a sign that wished her a happy birthday followed by her name. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and everyone in the Quidditch team was there. Incluso estaban algunos de sus amigos de otras casas.
Large hands grasped her shoulders and a mouth moved to her ear.
"Happy birthday, love."
He turned her, so he could see her face and soon wiped her tears away. One of his hands reached into the pocket of his robe and took out a small package that he enlarged with his wand. It was too much for her and tried to compose herself when he opened the box and saw a precious locket along with a delicate chain.
"You knew it all day long didn't you?"
"Of course I did it."
She took the locket and opened it, there one side had the inscription of her birthday and on the other there was a photo of both of you, who waved at her.
"Well that's cheesy."
"Yeah, ferret boy does have a heart after all."
"Oh shut up, Weaselbee."
Draco grabbed the chain and undoing it, his girlfriend quickly turned around and lifted her hair so he could put it on her. After that, she went with her friends and everyone welcomed her with hugs and birthday wishes. Several colleagues greeted her and at some point the lights stopped being so bright and someone put on music.
When she noticed, several of them already had a full glass and were chatting, even getting ready to dance.
"I hope you liked it, you always said that Gryffindor parties are not so wild but funnier so I brought some things from my house" Draco said into your ear since the music was being so loud.
You thanked him, a good party is something that you have been needing thanks to all the stress of the classes and being friends with Harry Potter. You were ready to make all of that stop importing for at least a few hours.
Smoke began to spread throughout the room, the lights began to flicker and many joined in dancing to the song that was playing. It was something new, Gryffindor parties did not tend to push people to dance. But with the low lighting, the smoke and the possible participation of students from other houses, it seemed that many more dared to step on the "dance floor".
People were having an amazing time and so was the birthday girl, laughing with her friends and dancing with her boyfriend.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you this."
"What is it?"
"Well we didn't start your birthday together, but I'll be staying the night in Gryffindor, so we can finish it together. "
Happiness accumulated in her chest and she couldn't help hugging and kissing him fiercely. Organizing all of this must have been horribly cumbersome, but getting a free room in Gryffindor was even more difficult. He must have been planning it weeks in advance. Merlin bless this man and explain to her what she did to earn him.
I can’t believe I forgot to post this here 😂
Nine year old me crying after knowing that boys can kiss in the lips too after seeing a drarry fan art would disagree.
Nine year old me reading for the first time the term bisexual after reading a few drarry fanfics would disagree.
Nine year old me crying after reading that Hermione and Ron supported Harry after hearing a protests against homosexual marriage would disagree.
Ten year old me reading pansimione as a secondary ship in a drarry fanfic and realizing that this was not only for boys would disagree.
Fanfic writers in 2002 writing fanfics about them receiving death and rape threats over the internet, having to put the M rating on fanfiction.net because at that time that was something the kids couldn't read because there were gay couples in it, would disagree.
Fifteen year olds reading those fanfics in 2004 feeling hope for the first time would disagree.
Drarry authors being listed as 'Bad Authors' on catholic sites for writing them would disagree.
This isn't about Drarry, this about people from the community invalidating something that helped, did something good, to many people who were in very bad situations instead of pointing out the homophobia that causes that to be something for consumption and fetishization by heterosexual people when in fact it was for the community itself.
I don't care that you don't ship drarry, god knows that there's a lot to criticize about them. But calling them straight because straight people fetishize them is bad. We know that there are couples and relationship in tv shows or books that were made for heterosexual people to like LGBT+ couples or to get both sides of the public. Wich is using LGBT+ themes to get money and these acts don't bring anything to the community, because we are not something just to get money that companies can use as they please. However, Drarry was made because people were craving some representation, something to rely on. Like these people didn't get paid, they didn't get followers or anything IT WAS HORRIBLE TO LIKE THEM TIME AGO. Please be aware of what are you saying. Mlm or any LGBT+ ship aren't for the straights to fetishize it, and by saying shit like this you are backing it up.
We don't talk enough about Bellatrix being the one who taught Draco oclumency.
I feel so much unlike me when I speak in my second language
Oh, to be recovering from a big massive orgasm instead of childhood traumas
I love Harry Potter bc all the characters have flaws and I have to rely on the canon to completely like them, it's like a whole new reality that is just like a normal reality + the books to zone out of that reality.
It's like a I zone out of the first reality, I fall into the canon world of Harry Potter and then I zone out of that other reality reading the books (fanfics) of that reality.
*opens note app again* ah my love dump
Once I solved everything about this show, the two things that bothered me the most were Ruby and Otis whole thing about not saying ILY back at moment... Like I know they needed a reason to break them up so Maeve and Otis could happen, but honestly is so shitty to really break up about that, it was rushed and I didn't feel it natural. And then Otis and Maeve are still "in love" with eachother after not talking for months, they didn't have a lot of scenes in this season and in most of them Otis shows the emotional intelligence of a child. Maeve was right, Otis don't understand her, he understands a lot of things but he doesn't understand her completely. Otis is super awkward everytime he's around Maeve, while with Ruby he talks a little more. She urges him to be more open, she might even have helped him with the whole "therapy" thing but Otis never discussed it with Ruby. They could have been everything but they need more development, they needed to grow up together.
The second thing is Hope, I liked her at first, but I think calling herself a feminist and then saying that her "body doesn't do the only thing they have to do" irks me a little too much. Because I know that could be within the whole infertility plot they gave her, all the frustration and pain. The subject makes me a bit emotional, but I like that they included it ... However, Hope had a strange fixation on Cal, probably because it's for the sake of the plot, but she locks them in an empty classroom because they was wearing their uniform wrong. It's a lot for something minor like that, she could have created penalties for students who misuse uniforms, or something like that.
I think her actions are over the top for Cal's situation, compared to Adam and Lily, wearing the uniform a couple of sizes larger is not such a terrible thing or that it is of great concern. Also, I don't think Cal is the only person we see wearing the wrong uniform, Ruby always rolled up her skirt and Adam was always polished, but no one ever said anything to them. And even if Cal was the only one wearing the larger size uniform, she would have 99% of her students in perfect shape, she could leave it as a minor inconvenience, give them penalties. It was too much for so little.
Also it bother me so much how pleased she was after Layla, the younger NB character, said that they(?) was going to the girls room for the sex ed class.
So all these actions sound a bit strange to me, because it is a repetitive behavior that can be connected to what she believes. And I don't like it, that could mean she's transphobic. And I think the writers didn't write her to be transphobic, they just put her together and didn't notice her repetitive behavior with respect to the body that has a uterus and then the different gender entities.
These tow things have that in common, that the writers didn't plan it, but we noticed.
The rest was good, clearly Adam was the one who had the best development. Some people say it was Ruby, but I don't think so, I think we saw things about her that we didn't know before but we don't really know if she matured. Eric and Otis friendship is beautiful as always, same with Maeve and Aimee. But we also see some Ola and Adam, Lily and Otis, Ruby and her friends, Viv and Jackson ... They did great with friendships.
Yes there were bad things, like Otis and Maeve kissing when Maeve was with Isaac, Eric cheating on Adam, Jean not knowing who the father of her daughter is ... A lot of infidelity plot for 8 chapters.
