As A Doomer I Don't Expect Things To Change Im Not Wallowing In My Misery Because I Think It's Going

as a doomer i don't expect things to change im not wallowing in my misery because i think it's going to make things better im miserable because things won't get better no matter what we small puny peasants do. go ahead and make fun of me but this isn't coming from a sentiment of supposed intellectual superiority or whatever im just depressed and hopeless and tired of people not noticing the signs

this mindset is why we lose btw. If people thought this about stonewall or the blm movement or bacon’s rebellion any other revolution where us “””””puny peasants””””” made a stand for a change they never would have happened and things would be much worse. I see the signs, and you know what? They fuel me. They make me more radical for change, because we need one. You, as a doomer, actively make our chances at a change worse. You, as a doomer, are proving your own point. Do you want your point to be proven? I used to be like you but for the love of god I don’t care how young or old or poor or queer or disabled or black or depressed or neurodivergent you are. You. Can. Make. A. Difference. And not fighting for one dooms the people who want a change and actually take action to do so. I know it’s hard, I know it’s daunting. But you need to stay hopeful. You need to stay punk. You need to stay loud. You need to stay non complacent. You need to stay hopeful. You need to stay hopeful. You need to stay hopeful.

Let's talk about college, failure, and ADHD

(🚩 If this doesn't apply to you, please keep any dismissive & minimizing comments to yourself, please)

A lot of people with ADHD start off doing well in grade school, middle school, and sometimes even high school.

For these individuals, ADHD is often overlooked or missed because of the misconception that "if someone is doing well in school, they couldn't possibly have ADHD"
Fast forward to college.

Those same people are now struggling with their new set of responsibilities, especially now that they're in a new place where they haven't learned to mask.

They burn out quicker.

Their performance drops.

They wonder what's wrong with them.

They start to second guess their major or focus at university, and they either change paths or drop out altogether.

This might happen a few times before they're finally diagnosed.

But even once/if they're diagnosed, they still feel like a failure at higher education.
Then comes the negative self-talk and self-gaslighting:

"I'm just making up excuses."
"I don't actually have ADHD."
"I was never smart enough for that degree anyway."
"I'm just lazy."

And they actually believe these things they're telling themselves.

And IF they get diagnosed & IF they decide to go back to school, there's the added pressure of, "Well my ADHD is diagnosed now, so I should do better this time"

But the reality is, without proper accommodations AND treatment, all they're left with is self-imposed high standards.
AND THEN, even if they DO graduate, they minimize their accomplishments:

"I only did well because I used accommodations."
"I only graduated because I took meds."
"It's an easy degree anyway."
"It took me 7 semesters to finish, so it's not even a big accomplishment."

If you read through this and relate to any of it, you're not alone!!

It's HARD getting a degree these days. For anyone. But ADHD makes it so much harder.

And I'll tell you a secret:

It's OKAY to acknowledge that. And it's OKAY to get support.

You are not a failure.

yeahh, this is my story (dropping uni for the 4th time, not being able to pass 1st semester, trying different fields each year)

tell me yours

wishing all crowdkillers a very painful day. u must taste what u inflict.

for real, crowdkilling doesn't make you punk, it makes you a dangerous asshole who clearly doesn't care about the health and safety of those in your community. quite literally the opposite of punk.

last night after getting badly injured by some cis dude during a song about, by, and for lesbians, someone told me it was my "fault for going to the show". no it's fucking not. attending a show is not an open invitation to be maimed.

punk should be accessible for disabled people. punk is largely FOR and BY disabled people. anybody that says "well if you're disabled then you shouldn't go" can fuck themselves into oblivion. it was OUR show. an event put on and performed by disabled queers. FOR DISABLED QUEERS. ALWAYS.

disabled people have just as much right to attend events as you do. in fact I'd argue we have more of a right to be there bc we don't constantly put the general public at risk of bodily harm.

we should be able to attend our own shows without the risk of life changing injuries bc some dude is taking his anger out on a bunch of strangers.

don't get me wrong, I love moshing. mosh all u want, but have some fucking etiquette and remember that not everybody is healthy and able bodied. and they especially wont be if yall keep hurting everyone.

punk is about community. it's about caring for eachother and creating a safe place for people to express themselves. it is NOT about being violent or destructive, or seeing how many innocent people you can mow down. if you do that shit you're not punk, you're just an asshole.

THISSSS

Can anybody give these old-ass Democrats protest lessons? They're acting like they're still living in pre-2015 politics when the GOP gave a shit and wasn't deranged.

A member gets up and starts shouting: All get up and shout with him.

Don't walk out: MAKE them carry you all out, not shutting up the entire time. I'm serious, go limp, be dead weight.

Putin's Puppet says a provable lie: Everyone chant "LIE" in unison for a solid minute instead of holding pitiful little signs in front of a man who can't read above a 3rd grade level.

Have someone who knows ASL sitting with you, interpreting everything in full view.

If you're gonna hold signs, make them BIG like you're actually trying to do something. Have them in multiple languages.

Make other signs that say clever or cutting things that will make him rage for days. "DOESN'T OLD TRUMP LOOK TIRED?" or "PUPPET PRESIDENT" or "EVERYONE IS FACT-CHECKING THIS SPEECH TRUMP DIDN'T WRITE" or "THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES" or his current tanking approval rating next to a laughing emoji.

Make a stink every day in congress, throw as many bills as you can on the floor even if they go nowhere, look like you're trying.

Have someone, idk maybe someone you actually want to boost for President in 3 gd years, be your voice of opposition in the media, loudly complaining and telling the facts, every single day. Let the people know you're there!

How hard is this? There's probably better suggestions than mine if they actually hired seasoned protestors or behaviorists/psychologists or even the biggest teenage troll they can find on a messageboard.

The Emperor Has No Clothes. So fucking act like it.

Apparently this needs to be said so

Forgetting things is morally neutral! Memory issues are morally neutral!

You're not a bad person if you...

forget things quickly

forget people

can't remember entire stages of your life

can't remember important things

can remember some things very well and forget other things all the time

can't remember things (or anything!) about your interests

forget to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, etc

forget to reply to texts

remember things and immediately forget them again

can't remember birthdays, events, etc

frequently answer 'I forgot' to questions

can't retain new information

forget things you used to know

only remember things when it's too late

have vague, distorted and/or unreliable memories

depend on others to know how an event you were in played out

have other symptoms that are worsened by memory issues and vice versa

... and anything else I might have missed!
