built to fall apart and fall back together

There was a happy chirp from her, nodding as she flew up and settled back in his hair. Pino was happy to have such a nice resting place.

Rody followed Deku, walking beside him. He couldn’t help but look around at all the other gates and shops they passed by. Even just the airports in Japan were interesting. He was letting his mind wander before Deku spoke up again.

“Oh!” He turned to Deku with a big grin. Was it obvious that he loved his little brother and sister? “They’re doing great! Roro is doing amazing in school, as predicted, and Lala makes friends really easily! It makes me so happy to see them be actual kids. They have so much more light in their eyes now.”

It took everything in Izuku not to start bouncing up and down where he was standing. He was waiting outside of Gate 15 for an incoming flight from Otheon. Finally, after seven long months of waiting, today was the day! 

Rody was visiting him in Japan!

They had been planning this for months. Instead of spending his extra money on All Might merchandise, he focused all of it towards Rody’s travel expenses and anything they’d end up doing while together for the week. They had practically talked every other day ever since Rody had saved up money to buy a cell phone. They had learned a lot about each other in that time, and despite the long distance between them, Izuku still felt as if they were becoming closer than ever.

So, really... it wasn’t much of a surprise that this was the most excited he’d felt in a very long time. 

As soon as he spotted Rody’s face, his eyes lit up as bright as the sun. He couldn’t help but rush forward and pull the other young man into a fierce hug. He could feel himself tearing up, but he managed to keep the tears at bay. He couldn’t keep the grin off of his face even if he tried to. 

“I can’t believe you’re actually here right now!” he exclaimed with a cheerful laugh. “It’s so great to see you again, Rody!”

Sure, let me post this at midnight on a whim. One of my first drawings of Rody! Will probably clean this one up when I have time. I’ve already been doodling him, and that’ll continue so I can get used to how I want to draw him. And Pino. Such a round gal.

“I think that much is obvious based on our goodbyes in Otheon.” The fact of the matter was that getting his pilot’s license, or even enough spare cash, to fly to Japan would take some time.

“Don’t you want to see me?”

        “Rody…” 

        “Don’t you want to come see me?”

Pino chirped softly and happily at the small bit of affection she got to receive. She decided to settle where she was for the moment, getting comfortable in her spot.

"Thanks. The same goes for you. I know the whole hero thing must be super tough some times. You have to balance regular classes, hero work, and a personal life. And, from what I've heard, you and your class have been through a lot. I commend you and them for pushing through. You're all going to be fantastic heroes." He grinned as he playfully winked towards her. "I'll be seeing Uravity in the news in no time! And I have the honor to say that I know her."

Out of manners, he wanted to deny the money. Out of someone who isn't very well-off, he kind of didn't want to deny it. "Oh- are you sure?" Rody asked as he was already hesitantly taking the money. "I guess it is fair. We each bought one and shared."

Time flew by like the wind. Between classwork and trying to help Rody feel accommodated at UA, Ochako had barely enough time for herself!

But she decided to ask Hatsume for a new upgrade to her uniform and was passing the hallway when she noticed Rody's door to his guest room stood open. Sneaking a peak, she poked her head in but to her surprise he didn't seem to be there. Had he simply forgotten to close the door?

Scratching her head, she continued on her way to Hatsume when her stomach growled. Although she had a small lunch a few hours prior and wasn't very hungry, she still wanted to eat something.

I guess I'll meet Hatsume later.

With that thought, Ochako made her way to the kitchen to see if she could find a snack.

He had just finished his phone call with the police, hanging the phone back up with a deep sigh. Shouldn’t he feel relieved that this mess would be over with soon? Why did he still feel so... anxious?

Rody jumped at the familiar voice, quickly turning around as his whole being filled with guilt. He was gripping the briefcase as he stepped out of the phonebooth, glancing between him and the pink bird that would not shut up. 

“Er- sorry about that.” A smile was forced upon his face. “I didn’t want to wake you. I’ll let you know next time, for sure.” Rody shifted uncomfortably, taking a small step away from the other. This was... awkward. For him at least. Here he was calling the cops to hand the case over, when they had specifically talked about NOT doing that. He was really hoping, that by some small chance, his accomplice wouldn’t ask why he had the case or who he had called. The latter could be lied about. The former? What kind of excuse could he possibly make for that?

“Well, you can head back to the barn.” Please. “I’m gonna stay out here a bit longer. The stars are nice away from the city, and the fresh air calms me down.” Rody planted himself on the ground, sitting with the case. “Again, sorry for worrying you. It won’t happen again.” And it wouldn’t, since this would all be over soon. Rody could just barely hear a helicopter in the far distance.

Tired... Neito was just so tired.

It all started late last night. After being flown to the small nation of Otheon with the troublemaking students of Class 1-A, Neito already knew that somehow things were going to go wrong. It all started with a bank robbery that the other students instantly rushed into. Honestly, Neito almost let them handle it to finish their required task. After all, bringing back food and supplies back to the base was actually important, no matter how much Bakugou moaned and complained over it.

Before Neito could stop himself, he found himself running towards the situation. Neito and Izuku left the two attacking robbers to Todoroki and Bakugou, while they both persued the running man with a briefcase. While Izuku was brash, running directly for the escaping man, Neito instead watched him with careful eyes. With a bit of street savviness, Neito slipped into a leaving train. Thankfully, just a few minutes later, so did their suspect. Neito could see Midoriya in the distance, but before he could start running towards the train, a rather irritated looking train conductor quickly yanked him off the train tracks. Before Midoriya could pursue them, the train was long gone.

Watching the brown haired suspect take a sigh of relief, Neito couldn’t help but laugh, waving his hand towards the other, “I suppose you think you got away? I wouldn't get so comfortable if I were you.”

Wow.... that all felt so recent. Blinking his tired eyes, Neito quickly remembered everything else- the briefcase being empty of any sort of treasure and just filled with important paperwork. Being chased by the police, using Todoroki’s quirk to escape while keeping everyone safe in the process. After jumping into the water, Neito quickly ditched his phone and began walking. Quickly, the quirks that were once filled in his body were gone. Leaving the blond basically quirkless and defenseless.

That’s what led to him and the other male now trying to sleep in a barn. Neito wasn’t sure how the bird in front of him could keep up with them all day- the blond was sure he didn’t see the creature eat or drink. However, Neito didn’t have the energy to ponder that aloud. Instead, with a single hand on the briefcase, Neito fell into in a deep sleep. After all, he was just so exhausted.
