Youâre sitting in the crowd amongst a wave of roaring students, parents and teachers. Youâre only here for one reason, or rather, one person, but your eyes canât help themselves as theyâre drawn to someone else playing on the court.
Nishimura Riki. You share a few classes with him, so youâre fairly familiar with who he is. He mostly keeps to himself and excels well in the classes that you share, so he doesnât usually catch your attention. Except when heâs on the court. Due to your..letâs just say connections for now..to the team, youâre actually sitting pretty close to the court so the view you have of Riki is pretty convenient.
Convenient in a way that you can perfectly see how excluded the poor boy is. Standing at the edge of the court, Riki is ignored by not only the opposing team, but his teammates as well. Heâs been free for the past ten minutes, and if his team had any sort of mind, theyâd pass the ball to him. Guilt dawns on you every time you hear him scream out to his teammates, yelling at them to pass the ball to him, and you frown every time he turns to his coach like a sad puppy. You feel so bad for him, but you canât do anything about it because ofâ
âY/N!â Heeseung jogs up to you from the court, chest drenched in a horrid amount of sweat and hair stuck to his forehead. You hold back a sigh as his eyes are trained on you, resisting the urge to gag at how putrid he smells. You must have blanked out and missed the second quarter call, which is why youâre a little stunned. âDid you see the three pointer I did?â Thereâs a big smile on his face so you pay him the favour of returning it halfheartedly, despite the desire to push him away from you.

The first time you met Park Sunghoon, youâre pretty sure he hates you.
To be fair, it was your first day, and Ni-kiâwho you knew for exactly ten minutesâtold you pressing the green button on the espresso machine would help "wake it up."
It did not.
Instead, it made the machine scream, shoot steamed into your face, and sent you stumbling backward with a noise that sounded suspiciously like a dying goose. A tray of croissants nearly went down with you.
âOH MY GODâNi-ki!â a voice shrieked from somewhere near the pastry display.
You coughed, flailed, and possibly cried, when someone silently reached past you and switched the machine off with a flick of his wrist. No words. Just calm, collected competence. The kind that makes you feel even more like a human disaster.
You looked upâand saw him. Park Sunghoon.
Heâs quiet. Like, unnervingly quiet. Dressed in black from head to toe with his sleeves rolled just enough to show his veins (rude), and eyes that flick to you once before looking away again. Not a single word. Just a blank expression like youâre a fly heâs choosing not to swat.
âDonât mind him,â Sunoo said, swooping in with a comforting hand on your shoulder. âThatâs Sunghoon. He doesnât talk much, but heâs not mean. I promise.â
âI didnât say he was mean,â you muttered, still trying to rearrange the croissants you nearly obliterated.
âYou thought it, though,â Sunoo grinned, like heâs already read your soul.
Meanwhile, Ni-ki was cackling in the corner, filming your breakdown for "training purposes."
Sunghoon, still wordless, wiped the steam wand clean, glanced once at the mess youâve made, thenâfinallyâmuttered, âYou shouldnât listen to Ni-ki.â
His voice was soft, low. Dangerous. Like he only spoke when absolutely necessary.
You blinked. âThanks for the early intel.â
He looked at you again. Longer this time.
And then, he walked away.
No other words. Just disappeared behind the back counter like you were the one who interrupted his day.
ââŠSo anyway!â Sunoo chirped, practically dragging you away, âLetâs get you trained before you break anything else, hmm?â
You glanced back once, just in time to see Sunghoon glance over his shoulder at you.
He looked away first.
And for some reason⊠that annoyed you.
â
Youâd worked four shifts now. Sunoo was basically your fairy godmother, Ni-ki was your unpaid therapist-slash-chaos agent, and Sunghoon?
Sunghoon was still a cardboard box with perfect skin.
He didnât talk to you unless he had to. Didnât smile unless he was laughing at something Sunoo said. Didnât even look at you unless you were actively on fire, and even then, you werenât sure heâd do more than mildly raise an eyebrow.
Which was extra annoying because somehow he was also weirdly funny. When he talked to Ni-ki or Sunoo, heâd drop the driest one-liners out of nowhere, and suddenly everyone was on the floor laughing. You tried to talk to him? Nothing. Crickets. Maybe a blink, if you were lucky.
You were cleaning the counter one evening when you caught him saying something to Ni-ki, low and casual, and Ni-ki absolutely lost it.
âOkay, that was actually good,â Sunoo wheezed. âWhere was that energy earlier when she knocked over the milk?â
âShe was already dying,â Sunghoon replied. âDidnât need to bury her.â
Your head snapped up. âExcuse me?!â
He looked at you, slow and lazy, like he was surprised you heard. âItâs a compliment.â
âHow is that a compliment?â
He shrugged. âYouâre resilient.â
You stared. âIâwhatâresilient?! I tripped over my own shoelace!â
âI noticed.â
Sunoo clapped a hand over his mouth like he was about to implode.
You blinked at Sunghoon. He blinked back.
You narrowed your eyes. âYouâre soââ
He lifted a brow. âYouâre loud.â
You opened your mouth, but Sunoo threw an arm around your shoulders like he was trying to defuse a bomb.
âOkayyy! Letâs all take a breath,â he sang. âSome of us process friendship through gentle banter and others process it by⊠doing whatever it is Sunghoon does... verbal sparring?â
âIâm not sparring,â Sunghoon said, already walking away.
You glared at his back. âYou never spar. You just vanish.â
âExactly,â he called over his shoulder.
You looked at Sunoo. âI donât get him.â
Sunoo just smiled. âYou will.â
You really thought you wouldnâtâuntil God bestowed upon you a tragic prophecy, disguised as the cafĂ© schedule for the following week.
MonâFri Closing Shift (5PMâ11PM): YOU + SUNGHOON
You stared and blinked, rubbed your eyes, tried processing.
Sunghoon saw it at the same time you did.
ââŠNo,â he said flatly.
You crossed your arms. âWow. Good to see you too.â
âSunoo,â he called toward the kitchen. âSwitch me. Please.â
âNope!â Sunooâs voice floated back. âYouâll thank me later!â
You both stared at the schedule like it had personally offended you. Thenâslowlyâat each other.
This was going to be a long week.
â
Monday was⊠quiet.
You tried to make conversationâabout the playlist, the new coffee beans, even the weatherâbut Sunghoon gave you absolutely nothing. Just a few nods and hums, like you were a podcast playing in the background.
You swore he spent more time restocking stirrers than actually speaking to you.
You huffed under your breath, finding him impossible to work with. The shift felt ten hours longer than it actually was, and you were convinced the silence was slowly killing your soul.
As the evening dragged on, you caught him sitting at the back counter, pulling out a laptop in between cleaning duties. You tried not to be nosyâbut it was hard not to peek.
Tabs upon tabs of schoolwork were open on his screenâassignments, lecture slides, even a color-coded spreadsheet. You blinked. Huh. Sunghoon was more hardworking than youâd expected. You thought he was just the type to show up, do his job, and disappear back into the voidâbut here he was, typing away like the shift never even ended.
You munched on your dinner, a sad slice of pizza you grabbed from down the street during your break. The cheese had hardened and the crust was borderline cardboard, but it was food. You leaned against the counter, chewing quietly, when you realizedâ
Sunghoon hadnât eaten anything. Not since the two of you started at five.
You watched him from the corner of your eye, fingers tapping against his keyboard, face unreadable in the glow of his screen.
You opened your mouth. âHey, do youââ But you stopped yourself. Closed it again.
Heâd probably just get annoyed. Or say no in that flat, disinterested way of his. And then youâd feel stupid. Still, you kept glancing over at him, stealing quick looks in between bites. At one point, you noticed his hands pressing lightly against his stomach, like he was trying to ignore it. His expression didnât change, but the movement said enough.
He was probably hungry. You looked down at the last bite of pizza in your hand and sighed.
Tuesday, you decided, would be different.
Tuesday, you showed up with an extra sandwich from the convenience store.
You didnât say anything. Just slid it across the counter around 7PM, because the night before, he hadnât eaten dinner and you werenât about to let him pass out mid-espresso pull.
He stared at the sandwich. Then at you.
You raised a brow. âYou didnât eat yesterday.â
He blinked. ââŠOkay.â
âYouâre welcome.â
You didnât hear a thank you. But he didnât give it back either.
Progress.
Wednesday, there was a cup of noodles in your locker.
Just sitting there. No note. No explanation. Just⊠sitting.
You marched up to Sunghoon, holding it in your hands like evidence. âDid you put this in my locker?â
He looked at the cup noodle. Then at you. Then blinked, deadpan. ââŠNo.â
âReally.â
He shrugged.
You squinted at him.
He walked away.
You were this close to launching the noodle at the back of his head. Instead, you ate it. And maybe smiled. A little.
Thursday, you both brought each other dinner. At the same time.
You froze at the counter, holding out your plastic bag just as he set his down.
ââŠI got you something,â you said.
He stared at your bag. Then gestured to his. âSo did I.â
You glanced at each other, at the food, and then away.
âThanks,â you muttered.
He nodded. âMm.â
You caught the tiniest tug at the corner of his mouth as he turned around.
You smiled too. But only when he wasnât looking.
Friday, you didnât expect anything. You were restocking the fridge when you heard it:
âHey.â
You turned around, startled. âWhat?â
Sunghoon was standing there, one hand on the fridge door, the other in his pocket. His voice was quiet, like he was testing it out on you for the first time.
âIâuh,â he started, eyes flicking to yours, then away. âYou always wear that hair clip. The pink one. With the sparkles.â
You blinked. âYeah?â
He nodded slowly. âI thought it was dumb at first.â
âOkayâŠ?â
âBut now itâs kindaâŠâ He paused, scratched the back of his neck. âI dunno. Cute, I guess.â
You stared at him.
âForget it,â he muttered, moving past you.
âNo wait,â you said, stepping into his path, a slow grin spreading across your face. âDid you just say Iâm cute?â
He didnât look at you. âI said the clip is cute.â
âThat Iâm wearing.â
âThat doesnât meanââ
âSunghoon thinks Iâm cute~â you sang, spinning in a circle while he groaned and walked away.
But you caught itâright before he turned around completely.
The smile. The real one.
And for the first time all week, you were pretty sure⊠he might have liked you back.
The silence didnât feel heavy anymore. It wasnât awkward. Just quiet. Comfortable. Like a pause instead of a wall.
You were sweeping. He was mopping. The usual end-of-shift rhythm. You hummed a song under your breathâsomething from the cafĂ© playlist that had been looping for hours. He didnât comment on it this time. Just kept mopping in sync with you.
The air smelled like cleaning solution and vanilla syrup. The lights were dimmed to their soft closing hour glow. Outside, the city buzzed quietly under the street lamps.
Then you heard itâhis voice. Low. Careful.
âI hear youâre starting college soon.â
You blinked, glancing up from your broom. He wasnât looking at you, just focusing on a coffee stain near the back corner of the cafĂ©.
âYeah,â you said. âOrientationâs next week.â
He nodded once. âSame.â
You stopped sweeping. âWaitâseriously?â
He nodded again, this time glancing at you. âBusiness major?â
âYeah. Are youââ
âSame.â
You stared. âYouâre kidding.â
He shook his head, mouth twitching like he couldnât believe it either. âGuess youâre stuck with me.â
You couldnât help itâyou grinned. âWow. And I thought this week was the end of my suffering.â
He smirked, just a little. âMutual, believe me.â
You rolled your eyes, but your cheeks felt warm. âThis is gonna be weird.â
âProbably.â
You leaned against your broom, tilting your head. âWhat if we get put in the same class?â
âIâll transfer out.â
You laughed. Actually laughed. And the look on his face softened in that tiny, quiet way he did sometimesâlike a blink-and-you-miss-it moment of fondness.
âSo,â you said, brushing past him on your way to put the broom away, âdoes this mean weâre friends now?â
He paused. Looked at you.
ThenââYouâre loud.â
You turned around, walking backward. âNot a no~â
He rolled his eyes. But he didnât say no.
â
Your first day of college started in a lecture theatre that looked like it belonged in a movie.
Wide rows of tiered seats. Floor-to-ceiling windows. A massive screen at the front welcoming new students with a generic but oddly comforting "Welcome, Future Leaders!" banner.
You slid into a seat at the back row, instinctively avoiding the eager clusters forming near the front. It was still early, and the place buzzed with chatter, nerves, and the rustle of free tote bags and pamphlets.
You opened one of the pamphlets a student ambassador had handed you earlier and scanned it while sipping on the last of your bottled tea. Campus map. Co-curricular activities. After-school programmes. There was even a flowchart on how to balance academic and personal development. It was cheesy, but a part of youâthe part that studied like hell to get hereâfelt⊠proud. You belonged here. You were surrounded by people who cared just as much as you did.
You let out a small sigh, the kind that came from contentment, then finally looked upâ
And blinked.
Sunghoon was walking toward you.
Brown coat sweeping behind him. A scarf looped casually around his neck. Glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, framing his face in a way that made him look straight out of a campus brochure. He carried two cups of coffee in one hand, the sleeves of his coat pushed just enough to reveal the band of his watch.
He didnât say anything at first. Just placed one of the cups in front of you like it was the most natural thing in the world.
You stared at it. Then at him.
ââŠYou stalking me now?â
Sunghoon raised a brow. âYouâre sitting in the back row. Thatâs the least stalkable seat.â
âMm,â you hummed, smirking as you took the coffee anyway. âSo you do want to be friends.â
He slid into the seat beside you. âI didnât say that.â
âYou didnât have to.â You raised the cup. âActs of service. Love language. Iâm flattered.â
He gave you a look. âItâs just coffee.â
âAnd glasses,â you added, gesturing to his face. âYouâre really committing to the college-boy aesthetic, huh? Next youâre gonna pull out a book of poetry.â
He rolled his eyes, but you didnât miss the way his lip twitched like he was holding back a smile. âYouâre annoying.â
You took a sip. It was warm. Slightly sweet. Exactly how you liked it.
âAnd yet,â you said, nudging his arm with your elbow, âhere you are.â
He didnât answer. Just looked ahead at the empty podium, his fingers wrapped around his own cup. But his shoulder stayed against yoursâlight, steady, unbothered.
And you⊠didnât move away.
Then, the two of you were a part of a routine.
Ever since you both found out you were classmates, Sunghoon would wait in the apartment lobby every morning with a drink in handâtea or coffee, depending on how late you texted him the night before.
Before 12AM? Chamomile. After 12? Iced latte, extra pumps of vanilla. No questions asked.
It had been a whole month of college, and while you were still adjusting, you were glad you had Sunghoon. (More likeâSunghoon was glad he had you.)
You were outgoing. People liked you, drawn in by your energy. Sure, you could be shy at first, but once you warmed up, you were easily the heart of any group. Loud. Expressive. A little dramatic. And though Sunghoon called you irritating more times than you could count, he couldnât deny it was part of your charm.
Part of why he noticed you in the first place.
Now here you wereâwalking side by side, warm drink in hand, on your way to your first class of the day. You were mid-story about something ridiculous your professor said in a group chat. Sunghoon just walked quietly beside you, listening.
And somehow, that felt like the best part of your morning.
You were walking across the quad with Sunghoon, your cup in one hand, rambling about something dumb from class when a football came flying almost knocking you out.
A second later, a tall guy sprinted into your path, trying to catch itâand collided right into you.
You gasped, stumbling back, but before you could even register what happened, Sunghoon had already pulled you aside, his hand wrapping firmly around your arm, shielding you behind him.
âShitâsorry!â the guy said, breathless, catching the ball. His cap was turned backwards, and strands of his hair stuck to his forehead from running. He looked at you, eyes wide. âYou okay?â
You nodded, eyes locking with his.
He smiled.
And for a moment, your heart stuttered.
He was cute. Really cute. Sharp jaw, dimpled grin, that kind of effortless charm that made you forget what you were saying.
âIâuh, yeah. All good,â you mumbled.
Sunghoonâs hand slowly dropped from your arm. You didnât notice. You were still looking at Yeonjun.
He looked at you too. âIâm Yeonjun, by the way.â
You smiled, just a little. âNice to meet you.â
Sunghoon stood still beside you, silent as ever.
But he saw it.
The look. The smile. The way you laughed, a little softer than usual. The way Yeonjunâs eyes lingered when he handed you back the drink you almost dropped.
Sunghoon didnât say anything.
He just looked away.
â
Yeonjun showed up at the cafĂ© on a Friday afternoon, all sunshine and charm, and you were too busy juggling orders to notice him at firstâuntil he waved from the counter with that same boyish smile.
Your eyes lit up. âOh my godâhey!â
He leaned over casually, glancing at the menu. âDidnât know you worked here. I guess Iâll have to stop by more often.â
Meanwhile, across the room, Sunghoon sat at a corner table with a textbook open in front of him and an untouched iced americano beside it. According to him, he was there to study. According to Sunoo, he was there to âkeep an eye out for Selenur.â (Sunooâs thoughtful codename for you, since he was very sure Sunghoon had a âthingâ for you)
Sunghoon told him to shut up.
Now, he watched silently as you and Yeonjun exchanged numbers, your head tilted toward the screen, smile wide. He saw Yeonjun grin, say something that made you laugh, and hand you his phone.
Sunghoonâs jaw tightened.
Not my problem, he told himself, eyes flicking back to his textbook. Not. My. Problem.
You walked over seconds later, practically skipping, still holding your phone like it was made of gold. âCan you believe it? He asked me out!â
Sunghoon didnât look up.
You slid into the seat across from him anyway, hitting his arm repeatedly with giddy little slaps. âSunghoon. He asked. Me. Out!â
He sighed, finally meeting your eyes. âStop hitting me.â
âSorry,â you giggled, not sorry at all. âIâm just excited!â
He watched you bounce in your seat, hair bouncing with you, eyes sparkling like you just won the lottery. He hated to admit how adorable you looked when you were like this. But he had a reputation. And emotions. And he was firmly committed to ignoring both.
Still. Something didnât sit right.
Sunghoon had done a little digging after the football incident. Nothing crazy. Just⊠a casual scroll through Instagram. And maybe a few archived posts. Some comments. A look at mutuals. Purely for research.
Yeonjun was a third-year business major. A senior. Popular. Handsome. And according to a few posts Sunghoon definitely did not saveâsomeone who changed girlfriends like he changed outfits.
He didnât like it.
He didnât like him.
Not for you.
But what did he know?
He looked down, turning a page in his textbook. Not my problem, he chanted in his head.
Definitely not.
â
Sunghoon stood in the apartment lobby, one hand tucked in his coat pocket, the other holding your usual coffee order. He checked his phone for the time, glanced toward the elevatorâthen froze.
You stepped out, smile already bright, your phone in one hand and the hem of your dress held lightly in the other. It was the prettiest thing heâd ever seen you wearâsoft fabric that fell just above your knees, cinched slightly at the waist, the color making your skin glow. Your hair was styled, subtle makeup dusted across your cheeks, and your lips were curved in that effortless way that made it suddenly very hard to breathe.
You looked⊠gorgeous.
His heart did something stupid in his chest, but he quickly cleared his throat and looked away, pretending to be fascinated by the vending machine.
âHow do I look?â you asked, voice playful.
He didnât meet your eyes. âThe same,â he muttered.
âOh,â you said quietly. âDo I?â
You sighed, and he heard the disappointment in itâsaw the way your shoulders dropped just slightly.
Guilt hit him instantly.
âIn a good way,â he added quickly, almost too quickly.
You blinked. âHuh?â
He finally looked at you, then down at the coffee he was still holding. âYou look⊠pretty today.â
He cleared his throat and shoved the cup toward you before you could say anything else. Then he turned and started walking first, trying to escape the inevitable teasing.
But it didnât come.
Instead, you smiled behind your cup and jogged up to walk beside him.
âWhy are you dressed like that?â he asked after a few beats of silence.
âMy date with Yeonjunâs today,â you said with a grin.
His step faltered for a split second. âYou like him that much?â
You shrugged. âI donât know about like, but⊠itâs justâIâve never been asked out before.â
You tilted your head as you said it, your voice soft. Honest.
Sunghoon frowned. âIâm surprised.â
âWhatâs so surprising?â you laughed. âYouâve met me. Everyoneâs either calling me loud or annoying.â
âIsnât that whatâs so charming about you?â
The words slipped out before he could stop them.
You turned to him, eyes wide, mouth parting. âDid you justâcompliment me?â
âNo,â he said immediately, gaze fixed ahead like it never happened.
You didnât press it.
You just smiled again, even softer this time, and walked beside him like nothing had changed.
But for Sunghoon⊠everything had.
â-
The date started off⊠nice. Not mind-blowing. Not movie-level magical. But nice.
Yeonjun took you to a rooftop cafĂ© near campusâfairy lights strung across the ceiling, soft music humming under the chatter. He pulled your chair out like a gentleman, complimented your dress, and told you you looked beautiful in the golden hour light. You laughed, cheeks warm, nerves fluttering. You werenât used to this. To being seen.
âYou know,â he said between sips of his coffee, âI heard you got into the business faculty because of some competition?â
You nodded, a little surprised. âYeah. The Young Entrepreneursâ thing in my final year.â
âThatâs so impressive,â he said, leaning forward with a glint in his eye. âYou must have had a really solid proposal. What was it about?â
You blinked. âUm⊠a sustainable student-run cafĂ© model. With profit-sharing incentives and local sourcing.â
Yeonjunâs smile widened. âThatâs genius. Seriously. Are you using it for any of your current modules?â
You hesitated. âWell⊠sort of. Iâm reworking the model for this semesterâs proposal project.â
He nodded slowly. âWow. You must be at the top of your class already.â
There was a pause. You tried to smile, but something twisted in your gut. He kept askingâabout the proposal, your outline, your ideas. Details most people would only bring up if they were in your group, or at least interested in the topic.
You excused yourself to go to the bathroom. The second the door closed behind you, you leaned against the sink, staring at yourself in the mirror. Something about this didnât feel right. You couldnât place it, but the way he kept circling back to your work felt⊠off.
When you returned, Yeonjun was all smiles again. Charming. Sweet. As if nothing had happened. As if he hadnât just gently interrogated you for thirty minutes under the glow of fairy lights.
You tried to shake it off.
The next day, your phone stayed quiet. And the day after that. And the one after that, too.
No texts. No calls. No explanation.
Yeonjun ghosted you. Completely. Like the date never happened. Like you never happened.
You told yourself it didnât matter. That it wasnât like you were in love with him. That it was just one date. One boy.
But it still stung.
It wasnât about Yeonjun, not really. It was about what it made you wonder.
Maybe you were hard to like. Maybe you were too loud. Or too awkward. Maybe you talked too much, or didnât say the right things. Maybe you werenât pretty enough. Or cool enough. Or quiet enough.
He smiled at you. Told you you were smart. Sweet. Pretty. And stillâhe left. Without a word.
And it made you wonder if all the things people always said about you were true. If deep down, you were too much of everything⊠and not enough of anything.
You didnât even like Yeonjun like that, not really. But being left behind like you didnât matterâthat part hurt more than you'd ever admit out loud.
Especially when all you did was try to be yourself.
Then came the worst part.
You were working on a different assignment, digging through your laptop for a reference doc when you realized⊠your final business proposal was gone.
Completely gone.
You stared at the empty folder for a long, frozen second. Then searched again. And again. You turned the whole desktop inside out, but the file wasnât there.
Panic bloomed in your chest. You didnât delete it. You never would.
Desperate, you made your way to the engineering block where your friend Heeseung was camped out, headphones around his neck and an energy drink half-empty beside him.
You dropped beside him and wordlessly shoved your laptop in front of him.
âI think my fileâs gone,â you muttered. âLikeâgone gone.â
Heeseung frowned, pulling the laptop toward him. Fingers flying across the keyboard. You sat still, breath caught in your throat.
After a few minutes, he leaned back in his chair.
âIt says here your laptopâs last file access was through a thumbdrive. Someone plugged one in, moved your business proposal, then took it out.â
You stared at him.
âWhat?â you said. Your voice barely above a whisper.
He clicked again, tilting the screen. âTime stamp says it happened the day before yesterday. Around 8:42 PM.â
Your mind flicked back.
Yeonjun. That was the night of your date.
No. No way. He wouldnâtâ He couldnâtâ
But the timing fit. The questions. The ghosting.
No. No fucking way.
â
You were pissed.
You wiped the counters with a little too much force, angrily scrubbing at invisible stains like they personally betrayed you. The blender hadnât even been used today, but you cleaned it twice. You huffed. You sighed. You muttered curses under your breath while flinging dishrags and slamming cabinet doors just a bit harder than necessary.
Sunghoon stood at the sink, quietly washing mugs like you were a rabid animal he didnât want to startle.
âIââ he started.
You grunted.
âYouââ
You sighed.
He blinked. You hadnât let him get out a full sentence all shift. At this point, you were acting like him, and he was the one trying to initiate conversation.
It was terrifying.
Thirty minutes of silence passed before you finally spoke.
âYou know what I hate about men?â
Sunghoon froze mid-dry. He glanced down at his own very male hands. Great. He was framed by default.
âYou people,â you said, voice rising, âand your terrible innate sense of justice.â
You slammed the rag down onto the counter. âStealing a personâs work? Pfft. How stupid do you have to fucking be?!â
Sunghoon stayed quiet, lips pressed into a thin line. He had no idea what you were going on aboutâonly that your date with Yeonjun clearly didnât go well.
He opened his mouth to say something, but you waved a wet dishcloth in his face like a white flag of fury.
âAnd you know what else?â you went on, eyes blazing. âYou people are just little gremlins who take. And take. And take.â
You let out another heavy sigh, leaning against the counter like you were carrying the weight of all modern betrayal.
âAnd for what?!â
Your voice hit a pitch so sharp that Sunghoon actually flinched. He snapped upright like youâd physically struck him.
âIâm guessing the date didnât go so well?â he offered carefully.
âHe stole my business proposal.â
Sunghoon paused. ââŠWhat do you mean?â
You exhaled through your nose like a dragon mid-breakdown, pacing the space behind the counter as you told him everything. The date. The weird questions. The missing file. The thumb drive. Heeseungâs diagnosis. The awful, dawning realization.
By the time you were finished, Sunghoon just stood thereâspeechless. Stunned.
âHeâs an⊠asshole,â he said finally, slow and deliberate, like he needed to taste each word before letting it out.
âYuhuh,â you mumbled, flopping into the stool behind the register and dragging your hands down your face. âWhat am I gonna do? The deadlineâs on Friday. I spent two weeks on that thing. Iâm screwed.â
Sunghoon reached for the industrial bag of coffee beans under the counter, tearing it open like this was a normal Tuesday. âWell, itâs not like you can sneak into his house and steal his laptop back.â
You froze.
ââŠCome again?â
Sunghoon paused, one hand still buried in the bag. âNo. That was just a comment. Not an idea.â
âBut a good one.â You turned toward him slowly, a little too bright. A little too smiley.
He narrowed his eyes. âNo.â
âPlease.â
âNo.â
âYou have to help me.â
âWhy me?!â
âBecause you gave me the idea!â
Sunghoon sighed. Loudly. Dramatically. Like he already knew he was going to give in but had to fight for the sake of his pride.
âYouâre lucky I donât believe in karma,â he muttered.
You grinned, victory written all over your face. âSo thatâs a yes?â
â
It was 3:07AM when Sunghoon found himself walking through a quiet residential street, questioning every decision that had brought him to this point.
The address youâd sent him earlier lit up on his screen. He shoved his hands deeper into his coat pockets, exhaling into the chilly night, whenâ
âPsst!â
He turned his head toward a cluster of treesâand nearly jumped out of his skin.
You were crouched behind a bush, donned in an all-black ensemble: black beanie, oversized black hoodie, black jeans, andâŠ
âSlippers?â he blinked.
You grinned, proud. âI see you noticed the vibe. Iâm dressed up as a burglar.â
Sunghoon stared. ââŠIsnât that a little on the nose?â
âIsnât it cute?â you whispered, excited. âI got it all on sale just now.â
âAt what? A Target for burglars?â
You swatted his chest with the back of your hand, ignoring the way he flinched with a low sigh.
âThere,â you said, pointing toward the modest two-story house across the street. âThatâs his house.â
âOkay, and whatâs yourââ You swat him again.
âOur plan?â he corrected, exasperated.
You beamed. âGlad you asked. See that room on the second floor? With the string lights and the cracked window?â
He squinted. âYeah?â
âMy intel says thatâs his room.â
ââŠYour intel. You mean, Sunoo?â
âYes.â You wiggled your brows mysteriously before turning serious. âSo. We put up the ladder. I climb. I sneak in. I get the laptop. We disappear.â
âYouâre actually insane for this,â he muttered under his breath.
You ignored him, eyes locked on the prize. âThe windows are open, and I made sure heâs distracted tonight.â
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow. âHow exactly?â
âI texted him from a fake number pretending to be a girl he ghosted last semester. Heâs currently having a breakdown about his âreputation.â I give us twenty minutes.â
He stared at you like youâd grown a second head.
And then he sighed. Deep. Long. Existential.
Is this worth it? He thought to himself.
He glanced down at you againâeyes full of unhinged determination, your hoodie sleeves bunched at your wrists, that tiny pout on your lips as you tried to judge the ladder distance.
God. You looked ridiculous. And cute.
So yeah. It was worth it.
ââŠLetâs do this,â he said.
You grinned like the gremlin you were. âI knew you liked me.â
He rolled his eyes, cheeks just a little too warm. âRegretting this already.â
But he followed you anyway.
â
You set the ladder against the side of the house like youâd done this before. Sunghoon, meanwhile, stood beside it with the stiff posture of someone definitely not okay with committing a crime at 3:15AM.
You looked back at him. âHold it steady, okay?â
âJust⊠for the record,â he muttered, âthis is breaking and entering.â
âI prefer the term justice retrieval.â
He sighed so hard you thought his soul left his body. âJust donât fall and die. Please.â
You winked. âAw, you care.â
âNo, I just donât want to explain to the police why youâre dressed like a criminal and wearing slippers.â
You began to climb.
The first few steps were fineâuntil one of your slippers nearly slipped right off.
âOh, fuckââ you hissed, gripping the ladder.
âDo you need to wear those?â Sunghoon whisper-yelled from below, clutching the base of the ladder like his life depended on it.
âTheyâre comfy!â
âTheyâre a hazard.â
You ignored him, determined, as you reached the second-floor window. The breeze fluttered through the half-open pane, moonlight pooling gently across Yeonjunâs empty room. His laptop sat on the desk, closed. Glowing faintly.
Target acquired.
You carefully pushed the window open wider and swung one leg through.
Sunghoon watched from below, jaw tight, muttering to himself like a man saying his last prayers. âThis is how I go down. Helping a girl in bunny slippers commit theft.â
You managed to slide inside without knocking anything over. Heart pounding. Hands slightly shaking.
You tiptoed across the carpet, grabbed the laptop, and slipped it into your drawstring bag like the world's most underqualified spy.
You were halfway back out the window whenâ
âHEY! WHOâS THERE?!â
A voice rang out from somewhere downstairs.
Your eyes widened. You turned to look down at Sunghoon, who was still grabbing the bottom of the ladder.
âGo, go, goâ!â you whispered harshly.
You clambered down the ladder as fast as you could, nearly taking Sunghoon out as you reached the bottom. He caught your wrist before you could stumble, pulling you into a sprint without a word.
Your feet pounded against the pavementâslippers slapping, bag bouncing, hearts racing. Behind you, a door slammed open.
âHEY!â Yeonjunâs voice echoed into the street.
Sunghoon didnât slow down. âLeft!â he hissed.
You turned sharply, ducking into a narrow alley between two quiet apartment buildings. The shadows swallowed you both instantly.
âOver hereâquick,â he muttered, yanking you behind a large trash bin and squeezing into the tight space beside you. It was small. Barely enough for one person, let alone two.
You pressed your back to the wall, chest heaving, adrenaline thrumming in your ears.
Sunghoonâs face was too close. Way too close.
You turned to whisper something, only to notice the way his profile was still partially visible, his cheek nearly poking out past the safety of the shadow. Panic surged through you as Yeonjunâs footsteps grew louder.
Without thinking, you reached out and grabbed Sunghoonâs faceâgentle but urgentâand pulled him toward you, forcing him deeper into the corner.
He blinked, startled, his hands landing on either side of you to steady himself.
And suddenlyâeverything stopped.
His breath hit yours. Warm. Shaky. His nose nearly brushing yours. Your fingertips still on his cheek. You could feel the heat rising between your bodies, your heart hammering against your ribcage.
You were so focused on listening for footsteps that you didnât notice the way he was looking at you.
His eyes were locked on yours, soft and unblinking. Like you were something precious. Something fragile. Something he wasnât supposed to want but couldnât help reaching for.
But thenâhe cleared his throat.
You blinked, still slightly dazed, and smiledâcompletely unaware of how close you were until you finally pulled away.
He stepped back the moment you did.
You laughed, breathless, heart still sprinting inside your chest. âI canât believe we just did that.â
âI canât believe you dragged me into it,â he said, grinning despite himself.
Your laughter echoed down the alley, light and free and bubbling with triumph.
And even as the moment passed, and the footsteps faded, and you both stumbled back out into the quiet nightâ
Sunghoon couldnât stop thinking about how your hands had felt on his skin.
â
Sunghoon unlocked the door and stepped into the apartment as if nothing about the situation was even remotely unusual. You followed close behind, hoodie pulled low over your head, black beanie snug, sleeves covering your hands, andâmost incriminating of allâa pair of fuzzy bunny slippers completing the look. If anyone had seen you on the way over, they mightâve called the cops.
Inside, the living room was dimly lit, the glow of the TV casting flickering light across Jake and his girlfriend, who were curled up under a blanket, halfway through a rom-com rerun and clearly deep into their peaceful little couple night. That peace shattered the moment Jake looked up and saw you.
He froze with a chip halfway to his mouth. His girlfriend stiffened beside him. Their gazes locked on your all-black ensemble, eyes trailing from your hoodie to your slippers, as if unsure whether to scream, laugh, or call for help.
âSunghoon,â Jake said slowly, narrowing his eyes. âWhy is there a burglar in our house?â
You smiled brightly, completely unfazed. âHi!â
Jake blinked, turning to Sunghoon for confirmation. Sunghoon simply sighed, kicked his shoes off, and muttered under his breath, âNot how I wanted you to meet her.â
âYou brought her to the house,â Jake said, still staring. âAt 3 a.m. Dressed like that.â
You shrugged, strolling toward the desk and pulling Yeonjunâs laptop from your drawstring bag. âWeâre breaking into a computer, not the house. Totally different vibe.â
Jakeâs girlfriend leaned forward. âAre those bunny slippers?â
You nodded proudly. âTheyâre for stealth.â
âRight,â she said, blinking. âVery⊠quiet.â
Sunghoon dropped his keys on the table with a sigh, already preparing himself for the chaos about to unfold.
âSheâs trying to hack into a guyâs laptop,â he said, walking to the kitchen like he needed caffeine and therapy at once. âDonât ask.â
âWhy are you helping her?!â Jake asked, scandalized.
Sunghoon opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. âIâm not.â
âYou literally held the ladder for me twenty minutes ago,â you called over your shoulder.
Jake choked. âLadder? What ladder?!â
You turned around, laptop booted up, the login screen glowing faintly. âThe one I used to climb through a second-story window.â
Jake gaped. His girlfriend quietly set the chip bag down, her expression somewhere between horrified and fascinated.
âI love her,â she whispered to Jake.
âI fear her,â Jake whispered back.
Sunghoon leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed. He looked at youâmessy hair peeking out from under your beanie, eyes focused, face lit by the laptop screen. Completely unbothered by the scene youâd walked into.
And for some reason, despite all the madness, he still thought you looked kind of cute.
âGod help us all,â Sunghoon muttered.
By the time you cracked into the laptop, Jake and his girlfriend had already retreated into their bedroom. Sunghoon had closed the door behind them with a roll of his eyes and a muttered, âThatâs just code for theyâre about to smash, so we should probably play some music or something.â
Youâd snorted at the time, but now the silence in the room felt heavy.
The soft hum of the laptop was the only sound between you, sitting shoulder to shoulder on the floor next to Sunghoonâs desk. He sat beside you, legs stretched out, arms loosely folded, eyes flicking over the screen with quiet interestâuntil he glanced at your expression and realized youâd stopped scrolling.
âWhat is it?â he asked.
You didnât answer.
Your eyes were fixed on the folder open in front of you. Document after document lined the screen, all titled neatly with class names andâoddlyânames. Different ones.
Mina. Elly. Jisoo. Grace.
And then⊠your name.
You clicked on it. Your proposal opened, just slightly reworded, your diagrams rearrangedâbut it was yours. Every piece of it.
You stared at the screen and crossed your arms tightly, a cold knot settling in your chest. The adrenaline was gone now. In its place was something much heavier. You felt small. Humiliated.
âI was just another one,â you muttered.
Sunghoon looked over, brows drawing together.
âJust another girl he got close to for an assignment,â you said, voice flat. âWas I that boring? That forgettable? Was I really soâunlikableâthat the only time a guy showed me attention, it was because he needed my fucking work?â
You laughed bitterly, shaking your head as the words tumbled out, unfiltered. âGod. What is wrong with me? What did I think was gonna happen? That someone like him actually liked someone like me?â
You let your arms drop and folded your hands over your face, pressing your palms into your eyes.
âIâm so stupid,â you whispered.
Sunghoon didnât say anything at first. He just sat beside you, close but not touching, eyes fixed on the floor like he was trying to figure out the right thing to say and coming up completely empty.
You wiped at your face with the back of your sleeve, but it was no useâyour mascara had already betrayed you, running in streaks down your cheeks. You were crying harder than you realized, tears silent but relentless.
You turned to him, half-laughing, half-sobbing. âSo youâre just gonna stay quiet?â
He looked up, startled. His gaze met yours, and for a moment he forgot how to breathe. You lookedâGod, you looked like a mess. Eyes red, lashes damp, your hoodie sleeves pushed up unevenly, and cheeks stained with tears.
And somehow, he thought youâd never looked prettier.
You werenât pretending. Werenât smiling for the sake of others or hiding behind jokes. You were just⊠you. Raw and hurting and real.
He cleared his throat and scratched the back of his neck. âWhat do you want me to say? Iâm not good at comforting people.â
âI donât know,â you sniffled. âSay heâs an asshole or something.â
Sunghoon shrugged a little. âWell, he is.â
You looked at him, still waiting, unsure if that was all he had in him. He looked like he was about to say more, and thenâhe did.
âHe is an asshole,â Sunghoon repeated, louder this time. âI donât know why you even agreed to go out with him.â
You opened your mouth, confused. âIââ
âYouâre loud,â he said suddenly. âYouâre pretentious. Youâre annoyingââ
Your eyes widened, and you flinched.
âWhatââ
âYou interrupt people all the time,â he continued, voice rising with something that wasnât quite angerâsomething messier. âYou talk too much. You never stop moving. Youâre chaotic and stubborn and you donât think things throughââ
Tears were streaming down your face again, this time faster. You looked away, chest tightening.
But then his voice softened.
â...And youâre also caring. Kind. God, youâre the only person I know who goes to the store at four in the morning to feed stray cats in an alley every two days.â
You blinked. Slowly turned back to him.
Sunghoon exhaled, running a hand through his hair.
âYouâre funny. Youâre thoughtful. You remember the little things people say even when they forget they said them. Anyone would be lucky to be your friend⊠let alone always be with you.â
He looked at you then, eyes steady and full of something warm. Something aching.
âIâm lucky,â he said, quieter now. âIâm the luckiest bastard alive, as long as I get to stand next to you and call you my friend.â
You stared at him, heart pounding, lips parted, breath caught somewhere in your chest.
Because for the first time⊠it felt like he wasnât just calling you a friend.
â
Maybe it was the crying. Maybe it was the emotional whiplash of the nightâthe heist, the heartbreak, the sudden unraveling of every thought youâd kept tucked neatly away. Maybe it was the way Sunghoon had looked at you when he said he was lucky.
But either way, you couldnât keep your eyes open.
One moment you were sitting beside him, the warmth of his words still lingering in your chest like a quiet heartbeat. The next, the world had blurred softly at the edges, and your body gave out beneath the weight of it all.
So now, you were on his back.
Heâd barely hesitated before lifting you, tucking your arms around his shoulders and hooking his arms under your knees. You didnât even protestâyou were too tired to argue, too comforted by the way he held you like heâd done it before.
Your cheek rested against his shoulder, eyes fluttering shut. You felt the steady rise and fall of his chest as he walked, the rhythmic sway of his steps, the subtle hum of a tune you didnât recognizeâbut it was sweet, and low, and made your heartbeat slow down.
Sunghoon didnât say anything. He just walked.
Past the quiet streets. Past flickering streetlamps. Past your favorite corner store and the alley you fed cats in and the bus stop where he first bought you coffee.
He didnât complain about your weight. Didnât tease. Didnât say a word about the mascara smudged against the fabric of his coat.
You didnât know if he knew you were still half-awake, but when he gently adjusted your leg, you heard him murmur so softly you almost missed it:
âYouâre not stupid.â
Your heart ached.
And then you let sleep take you.
Because if there was ever a place to restâ It was here. On his back.
â
You woke up warm.
Too warm, actually. Wrapped in layers you didnât remember putting on. The hoodie you had on last night clung loosely to your body, sleeves pushed halfway up your arms, and your slippers were neatly placed by the side of your bedâsomething you definitely hadnât done.
You sat up slowly, blinking at the sunlight streaming through your curtains. Your room was quiet. Peaceful. And completely unfamiliar in the sense that⊠you had no idea how you got there.
You rubbed your eyes, your body aching in the most confusing wayâlike youâd run a marathon, cried through an entire movie, and fought off an emotional breakdown all at once. Oh. Right.
The heist. The yelling. The crying.
Sunghoon.
You swung your legs off the bed, still a little dazed, and padded out of your room.
Thatâs when you smelled itâeggs. Butter. Something slightly burnt, but in a way that made your chest tighten.
You turned the corner and froze.
Sunghoon was in your kitchen.
His hair was messier than usual, falling into his eyes as he stood in front of the stove, flipping something that might have once been a pancake. He was wearing the same hoodie from the night before, sleeves pushed up, a spatula in one hand, your mismatched cat-print apron tied haphazardly around his waist.
You blinked, brain short-circuiting. âWhat the hellâŠ?â
He glanced over his shoulder. âYouâre awake.â
âIâŠâ You looked down at yourself. âHow did I get home?â
âYou passed out,â he said simply, turning back to the stove. âI carried you.â
You stared at him. âYou carried me?â
âLike a princess,â he deadpanned. âExcept you drooled on my shoulder.â
You gasped. âI did not.â
âYou did.â
You groaned and dropped your head into your hands. âThis is so embarrassing.â
He flipped another pancakeâslightly more edible this timeâand shrugged. âYou needed the sleep.â
You looked up at him again, softer this time. âWhy are you making breakfast?â
He didnât look at you. âFelt like you could use something warm.â
You felt your throat tighten. You wanted to say something, but the words sat too heavy on your tongue. So instead, you just stood there in the doorway, watching him quietly.
And for the first time in what felt like weeksâyou felt safe.
Breakfast passed in silence.
Not awkward, not heavyâjust... silent. The kind of silence that settled like sunlight through the window, warm and gentle and unspoken.
You sat across from him at your little dining table, your knees brushing every so often beneath the wood, your plate mostly untouched. He ate like nothing was different, like he hadnât carried you home last night, like he didnât make pancakes in your kitchen while wearing your cat-print apron.
And yet, something had shifted.
You kept stealing glances at him in between tiny sips of orange juice. The way his lashes dipped as he focused on his food. The subtle curve of his mouth as he chewed. The way his hair curled just slightly at the ends when he didnât style it.
Your heart fluttered.
Your stomach twistedâbut not in the way it did when you were nervous or sad. This was... different. Lighter. Warmer.
What is this? you thought. This weird, floaty feeling in your chest. This little ache every time you looked at him.
Sunghoon glanced up, catching your gaze.
You quickly looked down at your plate.
He didnât say anything for a momentâjust reached for his cup, took a sip, then set it down with a quiet clink.
âGo take a shower and get dressed,â he said casually.
You blinked. âHuh?â
He leaned back in his chair. âYou heard me.â
âBut itâs Saturday. I donât have anyââ
âIâm taking you out.â
You stared at him. âOut? Like⊠out out?â
âLetâs go,â he said again, nonchalantly, like it was no big deal. Like he hadnât just casually turned your whole world upside down with three words.
You opened your mouth, then closed it. You felt the heat rush to your cheeks.
âOh,â you said. Quiet. Surprised.
Sunghoon stood and collected your plate like it was the most normal thing in the world. âIâm not giving you the plan. Just go shower.â
And then he walked off toward the sink, sleeves rolled, calm as ever.
You sat there for another ten seconds, frozen, heart racing.
What is this feeling?
And why did you suddenly never want it to stop?
You stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the hem of your yellow chiffon babydoll dress for the third time. It swayed lightly around your thighs, soft and airy, the color bright against your skin. Youâd tied your hair into two loose pigtails, hoping it came off cute and not childishâjust⊠soft. Sweet. Something that might look good next to him.
Sunghoon, with his wardrobe of tailored coats and muted sweaters. All clean lines and high-end simplicity. He never had to try, and he always looked perfect.
You hopedâjust a littleâthat standing beside him, you wouldnât look too out of place.
You took one last look in the mirror, then stepped out of your room.
He was sitting on your couch, one leg crossed over the other, scrolling casually through his phone like he hadnât just changed your entire Saturday morning. He looked up when he heard your footsteps.
His eyes flicked up to meet yours.
Then back down to his phone.
No double-take. No compliment. Not even a blink.
âLetâs go,â he said, standing up with a stretch.
You stared at him, jaw tight. âStupid idiot,â you muttered under your breath.
âWhat was that?â he asked, turning toward you, brows raised.
You plastered on a fake smile so quickly it nearly hurt. âNothing.â
He watched you for a beat, unreadable as always, then looked away.
âYou look pretty,â he said softlyâso quiet it was almost drowned out by the rustle of his coat sleeve as he reached for his keys.
You blinked.
But before you could respond, he was already walking toward the door, acting like he hadnât said anything at all.
Typical Sunghoon.
Your heart fluttered anyway.
â
âAre we there yet?â you sighed for what had to be the fifteenth time.
Sunghoon didnât look at youâjust kept walking ahead with that maddeningly steady pace. âAlmost,â he said.
âYou said that two hours ago.â
âMm.â
Just a hum. No explanation. No sympathy.
You followed anyway, flats sinking further into the mud with every step. Youâd taken two buses, a ten-minute train ride, and now you were walking deep into a part of the park you didnât recognize at all. Far from your neighborhood. Far from everything.
You glanced down at your shoes, now spotted with dirt and regret. This dress, the hair, the whole effortâyou were starting to think it had all been a mistake.
Then Sunghoonâs pace suddenly picked up. His eyes lit up, focused on something just beyond the next turn.
âThere,â he said softly.
And before you could ask what he meant, he reached for your handâsudden, unthinkingâand pulled you with him.
Your breath caught in your throat.
His hand was warm, firm around yours, fingers interlaced like it had always been that way.
You didnât say a word. Just followed.
He led you past a line of trees, through tall grass, and down a narrow slope. Then finallyâyou saw it.
A small, glimmering pond hidden in a clearing. The water was still, mirror-like, catching the soft gold of the late afternoon sun. Willow trees bent low over the banks, their branches swaying gently in the breeze. Wildflowers bloomed in quiet clusters along the edgeâlilac, yellow, soft blueâand dragonflies skimmed the waterâs surface, their wings catching the light like tiny stained-glass windows. It was quiet. Peaceful. Untouched.
Like something out of a fairytale.
You stared, mouth slightly parted. âHowâd you evenâhowâd you find this place?â
Sunghoon didnât answer right away. He just stood beside you, still holding your hand loosely.
âWhen I was younger,â he said after a moment, voice softer than usual, âmy family came here for a vacation. My sister and I snuck out one morning and found this by accident.â
You glanced over at him. He wasnât looking at youâjust at the water, like it still held something sacred.
âI used to take her here when she cried,â he continued, âwhenever she got scolded by our mum. I donât know... it always calmed her down.â
You smiled, quietly listening.
âWhyâd you bring me here?â you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
He laughed under his breath, the sound light, almost shy.
âItâs silly,â he said, eyes still on the pond. âBut last night, when you were cryingâŠâ
You looked at him thenâreally looked at him.
His expression was unreadable, caught between memory and now. He glanced at you finally, voice quieter.
âYou reminded me of my childhood. Of her. You looked so⊠innocent.â He gave a faint, crooked smile. âAnd maybe I thought this place would cheer you up.â
Your chest ached in the most unexpected way.
Not from sadness. Not even from joy.
Just from the quiet knowing that someone had thought of you that deeply.
You looked down again at your joined hands.
Still holding. Still warm.
The two of you made your way closer to the water, weaving past the low-hanging branches until you found a flat patch of grass near the edge. You sat down carefully, smoothing the fabric of your dress beneath you, your feet dangling just above the still surface of the pond.
Sunghoon dropped beside you, resting his arms lazily on his knees, legs slightly apart, sneakers almost brushing the water. The breeze was cooler here, brushing your cheeks with the scent of wildflowers and grass. The only sounds were the rustle of leaves, the distant hum of cicadas, and the quiet ripples of the pond.
He didnât speak.
Of course he didnât.
Youâd grown used to his silences. They werenât cold, or distantânot really. They were just⊠Sunghoon. Thoughtful. Still. The kind of quiet that made you want to fill the space, not because it was empty, but because he made you feel safe enough to.
So you talked.
About everything. About nothing.
You told him about the weird dreams youâd been having lately, about the girl in your class who kept trying to copy your notes, about how you once tried to bake cookies for your primary school crush and forgot the sugar. You pointed out shapes in the clouds. Gave names to the dragonflies. Talked about the playlist you made for a fictional road trip you hadnât taken yet.
And Sunghoon?
He just listened.
Not distracted. Not fake-listening like some people did, nodding along while their mind was elsewhere.
He listened with his whole body. Slight tilts of his head. The way heâd glance at you when he thought you werenât looking. The quiet little hums when something made him laugh. The barely-there smile when you said something completely ridiculous.
You kicked your feet gently above the water.
âSorry,â you said at some point, half-laughing. âI talk too much when youâre quiet.â
He shook his head slowly, still looking out over the pond. âI like it.â
You blinked. âYou do?â
âYou talk like youâre alive,â he said softly.
You turned to look at him.
His expression was unreadable, gaze fixed somewhere across the water. But his voiceâhis voice sounded like truth.
Your heart beat a little faster. You looked down at your hands in your lap, trying to will the blush away.
The two of you had been sitting there for a while now, feet dangling over the edge of the pond, sunlight dancing on the surface of the water. Youâd done most of the talkingânaturallyâand Sunghoon had just sat beside you, quietly listening like always, eyes half-lidded from the warmth, arms resting lazily over his knees.
You were halfway through a very dramatic retelling of the vending machine incident from earlier in the week when something soft landed on your head.
You paused, blinking. âDid something justâŠ?â
Before you could reach up to check, Sunghoon leaned in.
His hand came up slowly, fingertips brushing through your hair with careful precision. You stilled completely. He was closeâcloser than usualâand the moment stretched, your voice caught somewhere in your throat.
His face hovered just inches from yours, eyes focused as he plucked a single pink petal from your hair. The breeze tugged at your dress, your heart did a weird little somersault, and your brain short-circuited trying to process the proximity.
You barely dared to breathe. His breath brushed your cheek, warm and soft. He didnât move away.
And somehow, your mind made the leap.
Oh my god. Heâs going to kiss me.
Your heart leapt. You shut your eyes without thinking, every nerve in your body suddenly very, very aware of the shape of his mouth and the way your knees were touching.
But instead of a kiss, you gotâ
A throat clear.
You opened your eyes to find Sunghoon leaning back like nothing happened, examining the flower petal with the clinical interest of someone assessing a grocery receipt. Like he hadnât just completely hijacked your central nervous system.
You blinked at him, heat flooding your face.
He glanced up, clearly fighting back a smirk. âDid you justââ
âNo.â Your answer was immediate. Loud. Defensive.
âI didnât even finish my sentenââ
âShut up.â You whirled on him, hands flying dramatically as the full force of your embarrassment took over. âYou scooted so close to me, and you leaned in and, and IâI didnât know what to expect, okay?!â
Sunghoonâs eyes sparkled, lips twitching. âI was taking a petal out of your hair.â
âYou took your sweet time, thatâs what you did,â you huffed, arms flailing now. âGod, you and yourâcoldâcold boy exterior. I canât read your face! You could be about to kiss me or about to tell me my card got declined, and I wouldnât know the difference.â
He let out a soft laugh, the kind that made your chest ache a little. âYouâre being dramatic.â
âExcuse me for assuming I was about to have a romantic moment by a magical pond with a boy whoââ
He reached forward suddenly, both hands cupping your cheeks, and you froze mid-rant.
The world slowed.
His palms were warm. Gentle. Holding your face like you were made of something delicate. You couldnât speak. Could barely breathe.
Then his voice came, low and steady.
âDo you want me to?â
Your words died in your throat. Your heart thundered somewhere behind your ribs.
You stared at him, wide-eyed, unsure what to say.
He didnât press. Just looked at you with that infuriating, calm expressionâthe kind that made it impossible to tell if he was teasing you or being completely serious.
And somehow, that only made you fall harder.
You opened your mouth, then closed it again.
âIââ you tried.
Sunghoon waited.
You panicked. âYou took way too long with the petal.â
He laughed. This time, fully. And God, if your heart hadnât already betrayed you, that laugh would've done it.
âOkay,â he said eventually, letting go of your cheeks like he hadnât just gently cradled your entire soul.
You immediately buried your face in your hands.
You hated him. You adored him. You had no idea what this was.
But you kind of never wanted it to end.
â
The walk back was quiet.
Not the comfortable kind that usually settled between you and Sunghoon. This one was thick. Tense. A silence so loud it felt like it echoed.
You hadnât spoken a word since leaving the pond.
Heâd glanced at you a few times as you walked side by side, but you kept your gaze stubbornly forward, arms crossed, cheeks still warm from earlier. You couldnât stop replaying the moment in your headâhis hands on your face, that question, your silence, the way your heart had practically stopped beating altogether.
And now, here you were. Standing outside your apartment. Streetlights glowing gold above you. Crickets chirping. The air cool and still.
He hadnât said anything either.
Not until now.
Sunghoon cleared his throat softly. âYouâve been quiet since the park.â
You let out a small, unbothered-sounding tch, keeping your eyes fixed on the sidewalk.
What a stupid question. He knew why.
You were embarrassed. Flustered. Emotionally compromised and desperately trying to hold it together. And he just stood there, calm and collected, as if he hadnât casually almost kissed you and then walked away like it was nothing.
You turned toward him, fire rising again. âYouâ!â
You raised your hands, ready to start waving them mid-rant like you always did. But before a single word left your mouth, Sunghoon stepped forward and grabbed both your wrists gently, stopping them midair.
You blinked.
âWhat are youâ?â
And then he leaned in.
Soft. Quick. Certain.
He pressed a kiss to your lipsâjust a brief, featherlight touch that made your breath catch and your thoughts scatter in all directions.
It was simple. Barely a second long. But it knocked the wind out of you.
âThere,â he said, voice low and calm, as he pulled back.
You stared at him, completely frozen. Mouth slightly parted. Eyes wide.
âY-Youââ you stammered, hands still in his.
Sunghoon didnât flinch. âYou were being loud in your head. I could hear it.â
âIâThatâs notâYou donât justâ!â
He raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed. âFeel better now?â
Your heart was a mess. Your brain was fuzz. But still⊠you nodded.
He let go of your hands slowly, his touch lingering just a second longer than necessary.
âGoodnight,â he said, and turned to walk away.
You stood there, stunned, watching him go. And somewhere between your heart trying to reboot and your hand brushing against your lipsâŠ
â-
The library was quiet, save for the occasional turning of pages and the distant hum of the printer.
You were trying to focus. Really, you were. But it was hard.
Not because of your thesisâwhich was enough of a monster on its ownâbut because of him. Sitting right next to you.
Sunghoon.
The boy who kissed you once. Who sent you home after and said nothing. The boy who still picked you up for class, still shared his earbuds, still split convenience store snacks with you like nothing had changed. And maybe it hadnât. Not really.
You werenât kissing everyday. You werenât dating. There were no labels. Just⊠this strange, sweet in-between. And it was driving you insane.
Youâd been hanging out every day, and yet neither of you had brought up the kiss. Not the one by the pond. Not the one on your doorstep.
You were somewhere between friends and more, and he seemed perfectly content to sit in that quiet spaceâwhile you were losing your mind wondering what it meant.
You were currently scanning the shelves, tryingâand failingâto find a book for your thesis. You swore it was here. The catalogue said it was. But after combing through the aisle three times, you were ready to throw yourself into the return bin.
âUgh,â you muttered, turning to scan the shelf one more time.
And then, like some book-finding angel, Sunghoon stepped beside you. He reached forward casually, plucked the exact book from the shelf above your head, and handed it to you without a word.
Your jaw dropped. âAre you kidding me?â
You snatched it from his hand, dramatic as ever, and turned to him with wild eyes.
âIâve been here for twenty minutes! And youâ!â
Your hands flew up instinctively, ready to gesticulate in full rant mode whenâ
He caught them.
Both of them.
Warm fingers wrapping around your wrists, stopping you mid-rant with that infuriatingly calm expression on his face.
And then he leaned in.
And kissed you.
Just like that.
Soft. Steady. No hesitation.
Your breath caught completely. Your brain shut off. The library, the thesis, the confusionâall of it disappeared under the pressure of his lips against yours.
It was over in seconds.
He pulled back like nothing happened, still holding your hands.
âLoud,â he said, voice low and amused.
And thenâhe let go and walked away.
You stood frozen in the aisle, mouth still parted in disbelief, the book clutched to your chest like it had personally witnessed a crime.
Your heart was pounding. Your face was burning. You were sure your soul had just left your body.
And once again⊠He didnât look back.
Typical Sunghoon.
You were unwell.
Absolutely, fully, catastrophically unwell.
Because Sunghoon kissed you again.
In a library.
After handing you a book like it was the most normal thing in the world.
And when you raised your handsâto explain, to demand answers, to yell in three different emotional languagesâhe just⊠kissed you. Again. Calmly. Casually. And walked away like it hadnât just restructured your entire brain.
You tried not to think about it. You really did.
But the moment you sat back down at the table, book open in front of you, and he slid a highlighter across the desk toward you like he hadnât just emotionally detonated youâ
You exploded.
âOkay,â you said, too loudly for a library. âWhat are we?â
He looked up from his notes, blinking once.
You leaned forward. âBecause you kissed me. Twice. And you keep holding my face like Iâm a traumatized woodland creature and then walking away before I can process anything.â
He tilted his head, resting his chin on his palm. âSo you have been thinking about it.â
You sputtered. âOf course Iâve been thinking about it!â
Sunghoon nodded slowly, flipping to the next page of his notes.
You blinked at him. âAre you ignoring me?â
âIâm studying.â
âIâm spiraling.â
âNoted.â
Your hands flailed.
And just as you raised them again, fully prepared to unleash wave two of your emotional breakdownâ
He stood up from his seat, leaned across the table, and kissed you. Right there. Again.
Quick. Soft. On the corner of your mouth this time.
You froze.
âIââ you squeaked.
âYou were getting loud again,â he said, sitting back down like he hadnât just completely ended your speech mid-sentence.
You gawked at him, face on fire. âYou canât just kiss me every time I get dramatic.â
âThatâs what you think.â
You opened your mouth. He raised an eyebrow.
You closed it again.
He handed you your highlighter. âLet me know when youâre done with denial.â
You stared at him, heart pounding so hard you could hear it echoing in your skull. He was calm. Unbothered. Absolutely smug.
You hated him.
You wanted to kiss him again.
You highlighted the same sentence seven times just to avoid looking at his stupid perfect face.
â
You were walking home from the library with Sunghoon again. Just like always. Quiet sidewalk, golden streetlights, late-night hum of the city in the background.
Except nothing about it felt normal anymore.
Not after the kisses.
Not after the looks he kept giving you when he thought you werenât paying attention. Not after your brain had chewed itself into pieces trying to decode what you were to him.
And tonightâyou were done pretending you were fine with it.
âI just think,â you said for what felt like the fifth time, voice rising as your steps quickened, âthat if youâre gonna keep kissing me, then maybeâand this is wildâI deserve to know what it means!â
Sunghoon didnât answer. He kept walking beside you, hands in his pockets, face unreadable. Infuriatingly calm.
âAnd if it doesnât mean anything, thatâs fine,â you added, already lying to yourself. âBut then stop doing it! You canât just weaponize your mouth to shut me up like some human mute buttonââ
He stopped walking.
You blinked, still mid-rant, too fired up to notice that heâd turned until his fingers wrapped around your wrist and tugged you backâswiftly, gently, deliberatelyâuntil your back hit the cold brick wall of the nearest building.
The shock of it knocked the words straight out of your mouth.
âWhaââ
And then he kissed you.
Hard.
No hesitation. No teasing.
His lips found yours in one clean, fluid motion, like heâd been waiting, burning, counting every second leading up to this moment. His hand pressed firmly against the wall beside your head, his body angled toward yoursânot pushing, just close. Too close. Close enough that you felt the heat radiating off of him, the weight of everything he hadnât said.
You didnât even get the chance to breathe before his other hand slipped to your jaw, tilting your face up slightlyâand then his mouth opened against yours, and his tongue slid in. Slow. Confident. Sure.
You gasped softly into him, your fingers gripping the front of his sweater like it was the only thing keeping you from collapsing. And Godâhe tasted like mint and quiet danger, like late nights and secrets he hadnât told you yet.
He kissed you like he was trying to memorize your mouth.
Like he wanted you breathless and boneless and ruined in the best way.
And you let him.
You kissed him back like it had been building inside you too, like youâd been waiting for him to break firstâwaiting for this exact kind of dizzying, spine-melting surrender.
By the time he pulled back, you werenât sure where you were anymore.
Your chest heaved. Your lips tingled. Your back was still pressed to the wall, legs weak, thoughts tangled.
Sunghoon didnât move farâjust enough to speak, his thumb still brushing softly along your cheek.
âYouâre loud,â he murmured, his voice rougher than usual. âBut not when youâre kissing me back.â
You couldnât speak. You couldnât even glare. Your eyes were still wide and unfocused. Your body felt like it had been struck by lightning wrapped in velvet.
And him?
He just took your hand again like nothing happened.
âLetâs go,â he said, like he hadnât just absolutely wrecked you against a wall.
You followed.
Stunned. Silent.
And for the first time in your lifeâ You understood exactly why he did that.
Because nothing had ever shut you up like that before.
â
The next morning, Sunghoon was already waiting outside your apartment by the time you stepped out, bleary-eyed and still emotionally unstable from the night before. He stood there with his usual sleepy calmness, one hand in his pocket, the other holding your usual coffee order.
Of course he knew you hadnât slept.
He hadnât either.
Because while you were lying awake replaying that kiss over and over again, so was he. Heâd tried to read, tried to distract himselfâbut every time he closed his eyes, all he could feel was you against the wall. Your fingers in his sweater. The way your lips opened under his, soft and wanting. The sound you made when he bit down gently on your lip before pulling away.
He was in trouble.
You walked toward him slowly, eyes puffy, your hoodie a little crooked from sleep. You didnât say anythingâjust snatched the coffee from his hand and took three aggressive gulps like it personally wronged you.
âHmph,â you huffed, before storming three steps ahead of him like an angry little duck.
Sunghoon blinked.
Then he laughed.
God, he was so gone for you.
âWhy are you mad?â he asked, catching up easily.
You didnât look at him. âBecauseâbecause you wonât tell me what we are. You keep kissing me every time I get dramatic, and you donât say anything after, and you wonât tell me if you even like me, andââ
âDonât you like it when I kiss you, though?â he asked casually, like he wasnât setting your entire nervous system on fire.
You stumbled. âIâ! Iââ
He looked far too smug. You hated how good he was at this.
âYou canât just say smug shit like that and make me not want to choke youââ
You didnât finish. Because just like last time, he moved without warning.
In one sharp, fluid motion, he backed you into the nearest tree, the rough bark grazing your spine as your back hit it with a quiet thud. His hand slid around to the small of your back, pressing you against him, while the other gripped your waist and dragged slowly down to your hip, fingers curving around it possessively.
His mouth was on yours before you could speak. No hesitation this time.
His lips crashed into yoursâhot, hungry, open. He tilted his head, deepening it fast, his hand tightening at your waist as he pulled you harder against him. Your gasp disappeared into his mouth.
His tongue slipped past your lips, slow and deliberate. He kissed like he knew exactly what he was doingâlike he knew how to pull sound from your throat without a word. His body pinned yours to the tree, firm and steady, his hips brushing into yours just enough to make you lose your balance and grab his sweater for support.
He groaned lowly when you kissed him back, your fingers bunching at his chest, his thumb digging into your side as his mouth moved harder, needier, lips parting, tongue sliding deeper.
And thenâhe bit down on your bottom lip, just enough pressure to make your breath catch.
âYou didnât stop me,â he murmured, breath warm against your skin.
Your mouth opened. âBecauseââ
âBecause you like it,â he said again, low and certain.
You glared at him. âAnd what if I do?! At least Iâm being honest with my feelings.â
Sunghoon raised a brow. âAre you?â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âBecause you havenât really told me anything about your feelings,â he said simply.
You threw your hands up. âIs it not clear?!â
You folded your arms, frustration bubbling up.
âIs it not clear that I clearly like you?!â
And just like thatâhe was silent.
Sunghoon had always been calm, collected, a little unreadableâbut something in his expression faltered then. His cool cracked just a little, the tiniest stutter of surprise flickering across his face.
His heart was doing things he would never admit out loud.
Because no matter how smooth he could be, no matter how many times he kissed you like he knew exactly what he was doingâyou were the only one who could completely unravel him.
He looked at you, smiling softly.
âLook under your cup.â
You frowned. âWhat?â
âThe cup,â he said. âTurn it over.â
You squinted at him suspiciously, lifting the cup over your head like it owed you answers. And thereâscrawled in slightly smudged black marker under the baseâwas one word, just barely legible in his messy handwriting:
GIRLFRIEND?
Your breath hitched.
Your arms dropped.
You stared at it, then at him.
He stood there with his usual hands-in-pockets posture, pretending to be all calm and collectedâbut you saw it. The way his ears were just a little too red. The faint twitch of his mouth like he was holding his breath.
You blinked. âYou wrote it⊠on the bottom of a coffee cup?â
âI thought it was romantic,â he said, completely deadpan.
You raised a brow. âYou know people usually use, like, their mouths to say these things, right?â
âI figured this way, youâd actually read it instead of yelling over it.â
You paused.
Touche.
âYou truly are a man of few words.â
He shrugged. âYou use enough for both of us.â
You rolled your eyesâbut your grin gave you away.
And then, quietly, you held the cup closer to your chest.
ââŠYes,â you muttered.
His lips twitched. âYouâre supposed to say it louder.â
You glared. âDonât push your luck, loverboy.â
He smiled, wide this time. âToo late.â
Before you could react, his hands wrapped around your waistâconfident, steadyâand he pulled you in all at once. You let out a small yelp, half laugh, arms instinctively catching onto his shoulders as he swept you closer like it was the most natural thing in the world.
And then he kissed you.
His lips pressed into yours like he already knew youâd say yes, like your quiet little âyesâ had unlocked something in him. There was no teasing this time, no smirk hiding behind itâjust him, kissing you like he meant it.
His grip tightened around your waist, grounding you against him, your body flush to his as his other hand came up to cradle the side of your neck, his thumb brushing just below your ear. You melted into him without a thought, your fingers curling around the back of his sweater, trying to pull him even closer.
You could feel his heartbeat, fast but steady, pressed right against yours.
When he finally pulled back, just barely, his lips hovered over yoursâstill close enough to steal another breath.
âIâve been waiting to do that properly,â he whispered, voice low and warm.

â° this is part one to this series, please see the masterlist under the title for parts two-three. â°
The last thing you expected was your older asking if you were planning to head home during the last bit of your winter break.Â
You raised your brow at the texts from your brother, thumbs hovering over the keyboard debating how to let him down easily in the nicest way possible that you rather lounge around in your dorm room in your PJs for the last two weeks.
You sighed and fell back on your bed, âGuess I should start packing then.âÂ
You knew Jay was right, itâs been roughly a year since the two of you were back at home at the same time. And even when both were at home, one was always going out and never really stayed home.Â
Maybe spending the next two weeks at home wasn't such a bad idea. Spend some quality time with your family.Â
Or so you thought until you walked into your parents' house with your duffle bag and backpack in your hands staring into the living room and seeing not just your brother, but his three best friends.Â
The same three best friends he grew up with who all followed him to the same college after high school graduation. Ones you havenât seen in like four years.Â
Youâre only a year younger than your brother and two of the friends while two years younger than the oldest one in their little circle.Â
You basically grew up with them as well, since you were just a grade below them.Â
They havenât even noticed you arrived yet. Your parents werenât even home from their jobs yet.Â
The four boys sat on the couch, their hands going a hundred miles per hour on the Nintendo Switch controllers going head to head in smash bros.Â
They all started screaming as one took the rest out.Â
You dropped your bags to the floor, clearing your throat to show your presence.Â
Jay was the first to turn around, his smile growing all the more wider seeing you. Jay dropped the controller onto the coffee table, stepped on the couch, and jumped over the back of it, âHey stink!âÂ
You cringe at the nickname he continues to call you even as an adult. He wraps his arms tightly around you, squeezing you.Â
You hug your brother back, tapping his back, âJay, you can let go now.âÂ
As Jay steps to the side, his three friends fully come into your view, all their eyes on you.Â
You tried hard to not drop your jaw at the three of them.Â
âHey, Y/N!â all three of them said in sync.Â
Heeseung fully turned his body around, leaning on the back of the couch, âYouâve sure grown up a lot since the last time I saw you.âÂ
Heeseung stood up, stepping over the couch the same way your brother did, rushing up to you and squeezing you just as tightly.Â
Sunghoon was next at your side, pulling you into a small hug, âItâs been what? Like four years?âÂ
You nodded, âIt has been a while, hasnât it guys?âÂ
âJake, what are you doing?â Jay called him, âCome say hi too, donât be rude.âÂ
Jake stood from the couch, his eyes locking with yours, and didnât leave them until he was in front of you, arms stretched out, âWas just saving the best hug for last.âÂ
You rolled your eyes, wrapping your arms around his waist, âHavenât changed at all, have ya Jake?âÂ
He chuckled, his heart beating loudly in your ears as you rested your head on his chest.Â
Jake pulled away from you, taking a step back, âIâve changed!â
Jay scoffed, âRight. Weâll say that.âÂ
âMost that has changed is your grades are a bit better than high school.â Sunghoon teased, placing a hand on his best friend.Â
âBro,â Jake playfully shoved him, âIâve grown up a lot!âÂ
Oh yes, that he did.Â
All of them have. Itâs only been four years, but each of them has grown up. They went from those nerdy boys you would scrunch your nose at saying they have cooties while holding your index fingers into an x, to the most good-looking men youâve ever seen.Â
Four years feels like itâs been a long time, mostly with how they are in front of you right now.Â
Youâre brought out of your thoughts, as Jay sets a hand on your shoulder, âLetâs get back to playing Smash Bros and let Y/N rest, she drove longer than we did.â
It was true, you drove three hours to get back home while they only had an hour. You were overdue for a nap.Â
Jake waited for you to glance over at Jay before eyeing you up and down. Youâve sure grown up a lot too in the last four years. He was expecting the same girl from all those years ago, oh but he was wrong.Â
Jake eyeing you down didnât go unnoticed by his friends, mostly Jay who was shooting darts into Jakeâs soul.Â
âOh also!â You said as you picked up your bags, âHow long are you three staying here today?âÂ
Sunghoon wrapped his arms around Heeseung and Jakeâs necks and pulled them in, âWe are here the whole two weeks.â
You raised a brow, confused. Of course, they are going to be in town the whole time, âI meant here at the house,â you said pointing your index finger to the floor, âArenât you staying with your families while youâre in town?â
Heeseung chuckled, âNah, we are staying here, thatâs what Hoon meant by being here.âÂ
You glanced at your brother, a smirk on his face, âNice to know I was told.â You glared at him.Â
Jay shrugged, âIt was last minute.âÂ
âWe will go see our families, donât worry,â Sunghoon smiled, âI have to see my little sister, or else sheâll kill me for not coming back home.âÂ
You glanced between the four of them before deciding it wasnât worth thinking about at the moment, you needed a nap, âWhatever, I am taking my nap.âÂ
The three boys turned around heading back to the couch, Jake took one last look at you as you headed for the stairs, Jay catching him once again looking, Jake quickly turned back around and placed himself back on the couch.Â
Jay quickly caught your arm before you were too far up the stairs. You turned and looked at him, giving him your nastiest side eye, âWhat corn lover?âÂ
âThe rule still stands.âÂ
You raised a brow, âWhat rule?âÂ
Jay tilted his head at you, âReally?âÂ
You gave him a confused look, trying to read his mind. The gears in your brain turned until it finally clicked.Â
âYou mean the rule from when we were kids?âÂ
He nodded, âNo boys.âÂ
You rolled your eyes, âAs if, they still have just as many cooties as they did four years ago.âÂ
Jay nodded, âGood. Keep it that way. Get rest, Iâll come to wake you when mom and dad get home. We are barbecuing tonight. Iâm grilling.âÂ
Your mouth was already watering thinking about your big brother's cooking. The one major con of going to a college further away was missing his cooking.
You continued your journey up the stairs and into your childhood room, seeing that your parents left everything the same as it was when you left it. Dropping into your bed, face first into the pillow, sleep finds you quickly.Â
Jay dropped himself back on the couch, picking up the switch controller, âAlright douche bags, letâs get this party back in motion.âÂ
Everyone grabbed their controllers except Jake, who had his nose in his phone and searched for your Instagram account from Jayâs account, curiously stalking through your account.Â
It didnât go unnoticed by Jay, who glanced over at Jakeâs phone, catching him staring at the recent selfie you posted a week ago.Â
âSim Jaeyun.â Jake jumped at his government name being called so sternly by his hyung.Â
âJesus Christ, what?â Jake breathed out, his hand flying to his chest, his heart rate increasing, âYou scared the shit out of me.âÂ
Jay glanced back down at his phone, bringing realization to Jake causing him to quickly lock his phone.Â
Heeseung and Sunghoon also had their eyes on Jake. He looked between the three of them, raising a brow, and glared at them, âWhat?âÂ
Heeseung slowly faced back to the TV, âI ainât saying anything.âÂ
âI am,â Sunghoon chimed in, âWe all saw how you eyed her.âÂ
Jake quickly shook his head, realizing the situation he got put in, âItâs not like that! She just grew up a lot more than I was expecting.âÂ
That wasnât helping Jakeâs case. Jay was just getting more pissed.Â
âDude,â Jay narrowed his eyes, âThatâs my little sister.â
âWho is also like a little sister to us,â Heeseung added in.Â
âWho passed you the baton?â Jake groaned, finger pointing at Heeseung and eyes looking between all his best friends, âWhy are you all on my ass?âÂ
âOff limits.â Jay said, bringing in the old rule from childhood, âNothing has changed.âÂ
Jake rolled his eyes, slouching into the couch, âObviously! Trust me, I am not interested, like a little sister, remember?âÂ
âGood. Goes for all three of you, sheâs off limits.âÂ
The conversation ended there. The last thing Jay needed was having to pull any of his friends off you. He was way too protective of you and knew his friends way too well, mostly after the sex demons they became after graduating. It was already bad enough in high school, but with the freedom college gave the four of them along with the parties and of course, femalesâŠ
Jay had to protect you at all costs. And he would always stand by it.Â
â
Jakeâs hands trembled as he stood in front of your bedroom door. Heâs stood by your door many times as a child growing up, always kicking your door open and running away with Jay, Heeseung, and Sunghoon, before you could shout at them for annoying you.Â
But obviously, you all werenât children anymore. So why was Jake so scared to simply knock on your door?
Jay decided to start grilling before your parents got home so that it would be ready or almost ready by the time they walked in.Â
Your parents arrived just at the right time as the steak was almost done grilling.Â
The three boys sat at the picnic table outside by the portal heater and set up the plates while Jay stood by the grill, grilling away.Â
Your parents hugged each of the boys, welcoming them into their home like old times.Â
âOh, where is Y/N? Jongseong?â your mother asked sweetly, placing a kiss on his cheek, âI saw her car outside.âÂ
âSheâs napping,â Jay said, turning over the steaks, âEverything is ready, so someone should go wake her.âÂ
Heeseung and Sunghoon were already way too busy talking to your dad to notice what Jay said, your mother ultimately decided sheâll go wake you.
âMom! No no no!â Jay quickly spat, âGo sit down, you just got off work, Iâll make one of the boys do it.âÂ
Your mother sweetly smiled, âAre you sure? I can do it.âÂ
Jake quickly stood from the table, placing a hand on her shoulder, âIâll go get her, Mrs. Park, please sit.âÂ
She quickly pulled Jake into another hug, âSuch a sweet boy like always!âÂ
And thatâs how he found himself at your door. The sounds of the laughter of his friends and basically his second family echo from the background as he continues to hover his trembling fist at your door.Â
âCome on, SimâŠâ he whispered, trying to hype himself up, âSheâs the same girl you grew up with.âÂ
Jakeâs knuckles made contact with the wooden door, leaning himself closer to listen for any movements.Â
Nothing.Â
He knocked again but a bit louder, âY/N?â silence. Another knock, âHey, Y/N?âÂ
There was shuffling on the other side, the door opening too quickly. You and Jake were now face to face, barely inches apart.Â
Oh lord was Jakeâs heart racing.Â
You were in your favorite pair of sweatpants and an old tee shirt back from high school with the school's logo on it. Your hair was slightly messy from sleeping and had on the same pair of glasses you wore growing up.Â
Jake was weak. He always loved your glasses growing up. Thinking they shaped your face nicely and made you look really cute. Of course, heâd never tell you this, he just always made fun of you like the other boys did.Â
Jake quickly stepped back, giving you space.Â
You yawned and did a small stretch, âWhatâs up?âÂ
âUmm,â Jake quickly looked away from you, too scared youâd see how his heart was practically bursting through his chest, âYour parents are home, and dinner is ready.âÂ
Whatever tiredness you once felt was out the window at the mention of Jayâs dinner.Â
âOkay! Let me change and Iâll be downstairs.â You closed the door quickly, not wanting to miss a second away from the delicious dinner.Â
Jake made his way back down the stairs and outside, shoving his hands into his jacket pocket as he sat back down.Â
Jay raised a brow, âMy sister?âÂ
Jake shrugged, âSheâs coming. Said she was going to change.âÂ
As if on cue, you slid open the glass door, quickly embracing your mother.Â
You wrap your arms around her from behind, surprising her.Â
âHello, mom!âÂ
She quickly turned around to hug you properly, âOh my sweet girl! Iâve missed you!âÂ
You smile, the familiar smell of her rose perfume fills your nose, âIâve missed you too momma.âÂ
âJongseong, come over here too!â your mother waved your brother over, pulling the both of you into a tight hug, âItâs been so long since I have had both my children home. Iâm so happy youâre here:âÂ
Jake and the others smiled at you three.
Once your mother released you from her arms, Jay sat down across from Jake, leaving you a spot between him and your mother.Â
Before sitting down you hugged your father and gave a wave to Heeseung and Sunghoon.Â
âGood to see you back to the land of the living,â Heeseung teased, âWe thought youâd died.âÂ
You roll your eyes, âHaha, very funny.âÂ
Jake took a moment to take in your new outfit. Hair was nicely brushed, tight skinny jeans with rips at the knees, and a baby blue long-sleeve shirt that hugged your torso snug, perfectly shaping your breasts. His eyes not leaving you until you sit down, and then his eyes go to his plate of food.Â
Jay glances at his best friend, eyes shifting to you, then back at him.
âWe can finally eat now that Y/N decided to grace us with her presence,â Jake teased, finally digging into his food. God he was blessed to have Jay as one of his best friends.Â
You reached under the table and kicked Jakeâs shin, him only laughing more than before.Â
âJust like old times! You kids never change!â your father smiled, lifting his beer for a cheer.Â
â
Jake tossed and turned, eventually ending up on his back staring up at the ceiling.Â
The thoughts of the outfit you wore earlier tainted his mind. The way your clothes perfectly shaped your body.Â
Jake quietly covered his face with his hands, rubbing his eyes in hopes it would take the thoughts out of his head. âSheâs your best friend's younger sister, what are you doing?âÂ
He sat up in bed, throwing the blankets off him, and carefully crawled out from the bottom bunk of the bed, trying to not make too much movement to disturb the sleeping Sunghoon above him.Â
Heeseung was fast asleep on the twin-sized bed across from him, small snores escaping his lips.Â
Jake took one last look around the room before carefully tip-toeing out.Â
Jake remembers when Jay announced to them that his parents were buying a bunk bed to add into the spare room so that each of them had a proper place to sleep besides sharing the twin-sized bed or having an air mattress.Â
Mostly after the four of them got into middle school, no one wanted to share a bed anymore.Â
It was a blessing, even more of a blessing that the Parkâs kept the spare room just the same after all these years.Â
Jake opened and closed the door with such grace praying to be quiet enough to not wake anyone. Carefully walking down the hallway, stopping at the foot of the stairs, swearing he heard something, looking up them.Â
The moonlight gave enough light to show how empty the upstairs was, Jake shrugged off the noise he heard and went to the kitchen.Â
You quietly opened your door, making sure to not disturb any sleeping body, specifically your parents since they needed to be up early for another full day of work.Â
The nap you took earlier in the day completely messed up your night's rest. You tossed and turned in your bed hoping for sleep to find you but never did. Hoping for a few bites of the leftover barbecue and some water will help you chase the sheep.Â
You tip-toed to the stairs, carefully and slowly making your way down them, eyeing down the hallway as you made your way to the kitchen, making sure no one else was awake.Â
You turned the corner of the kitchen, fingers flipping the light switch on. Once the lights came on, your heart nearly dropped to your stomach.Â
You swore you jumped ten feet in the air, âOh sweet god, what the fuck Jake?!?â you whispered loudly.Â
What the fuck indeed.Â
Jake was pressed against the counter, the water bottle he once held in his hand was now on the floor and the liquid completely covered him.Â
He took a few deep breaths, hand clenching his now wet shirt, feeling his heartbeat.Â
âYou scared the shit out of me, Y/N.âÂ
You raised a brow at him, âI scared you? I nearly had a heart attack!âÂ
Jake relaxed against the counter, his hands now gripping the counter behind him, âThat makes two of us.âÂ
You ran your hands down your face, taking a deep breath in, before dropping your arms back at your side, âWhy are you even up?âÂ
Jakeâs face was glued to you, his eyes turning dark.Â
You just looked at him, âWhat?â It wasnât until you crossed your arms that you realized what he was staring at.Â
You remembered what you were wearing. Sweatpants that hung loosely at your hips and a black sports bra.Â
Jake didnât notice it at first, mostly not after the surprise of you scaring him half to death, but after he finally looked at you is when he noticed.Â
The way your breasts were exposed and practically spilling out of the top of your sports bra, how loosely your sweatpants hang. Oh, the thoughts running through his head.Â
The way all he would have to do is barely slip his fingers at the fabric of your pants to remove them from your hips. The access his lips would have to your tits as he slid his against your heat.Â
Jake didnât even realize how hard he was staring at you, looking like a meal he could easily eat up.Â
Normally youâd run out of the kitchen and back up the stairs full of embarrassment, but something about the way Jake was looking at you made your knees weak.Â
Your body moved on its own, walking closer to him. His hands gripped the counter, knuckles turning white and his heart rate accelerating. It wasnât until you were a couple of inches away from him that he realized what was happening.Â
You could easily see the tint in his shorts growing. All it took for him to see you like this to get so hard?
Jake watched as your eyes dropped to his crotch, and slowly made eye contact with him.Â
Oh how hard it was for him to keep his hands to himself.Â
âJake,â you whispered. You, yourself, want to put your hands on him.Â
From the moment you saw him, Sunghoon, and Heeseung in the living room earlier this afternoon, youâve had to admit you were attracted to them, especially Jake. He was no longer the icky boy you grew up with. Heâs a man, looking at you like a woman, not the little girl you once were.Â
You whisper his name again, moving your hand to touch his bicep, but stopping halfway.Â
âY/N, touch me and I canât promise to behave myself.â His Aussie came out thicker in that moment, filled with lust and want.Â
You wanted to test his boundaries and see if he would actually misbehave.Â
Your cold fingers brushed his bicep, and thatâs all it took for his hands to fly to your hips, switching positions and pinning you against the counter, his hard length now pressed to your aching core, hands gripping your hips.Â
Jake felt as if he was on autopilot, moving against you as if it were second nature to him.Â
Jakeâs mind has been going wild since the moment you walked through the front door.Â
He wasnât expecting the woman he had pressed to his body.Â
Jake was still expecting the little girl he used to tease. The little girl he would gang up on with his friends. The little girl he would scrunch his nose at when heâd see you in the halls at school as youâd pass by him. The little girl Jay would rant about if another boy looked at you in a romantic way. The little nerdy girl who got straight Aâs and never skipped a day of school in your life even if you were sick.Â
Jake never expected to see you so grown. To see how your body changed and filled in. The way you style your hair and the taste of fashion you have now. How your tits naturally fall and how your ass fits so perfectly in any pants youâve worn today.Â
Oh, Jake was a mess. And oh how badly he wanted to make a mess out of you.Â
You kept your eyes locked with Jakeâs, honestly loving how seen you felt by him right now.Â
âThought you were going to behave?â you whispered, your hands now gripping the counter behind you.Â
âI told you the consequences of your actions if youâd touch me, and here we are.âÂ
You let a small laugh leave your lips, rolling your hips against him.Â
Jake groaned, resting his forehead against yours, grinding himself back onto you, âWhat are you trying to do here, Y/N?âÂ
You bit your lips, trying to hold back the sounds threatening to escape your mouth from the pleasure of his dick just rubbing against you.Â
âAre you trying to get me in trouble with your brother? Huh?â Jake whispered, dropping his head to the side of yours, lips brushing against your ear, rolling his hips a bit harder than the last, âHeâs already on my ass from the way Iâve been eye fucking you today.âÂ
Your knees buckled, Jake not letting your weight drop with the grip he has on your hips.Â
âYouâre being such a bad girl right now, Y/N, disobeying your brother's wishes so easily just to get a feel of my dick.â
Your brain was going fuzzy at his words, trying to focus on the sound of his breathing to keep you in reality.Â
Jakeâs hands drop down to your ass, squeezing the fat as he thrust his hips against you. Your breath hitched at his touch, knees buckling again.Â
You wanted to feel his hands everywhere, to feel his lips on yours and against your skin.Â
You turn your head towards him, wanting to find his lips, only to be met with his hands leaving your ass, body no longer pressed against yours and him taking a couple of steps away from you.Â
Jakeâs chest raised and fell with each deep breath he took, eyes glued to the floor as he ran his fingers through his dark hair.Â
âWe canât be doing this,â he finally said between deep breaths.
No matter how badly Jake wanted to lead you up those stairs and push you face down into your pillows, he couldnât betray his best friend like that. Couldnât betray that trust.Â
You nodded in agreement, taking your own deep breaths to steady out your heart rate, âYouâre right, we canât be.âÂ
You relaxed your body, pushing yourself off the counter, eyes darting to the fridge.Â
You grabbed a water bottle, walking past Jake as you exited the kitchen, stopping right past him.Â
âJake,â you whispered, looking back at him. Jake stared back at you with lustful eyes, praying youâd jump his bones right here, right now, âMake sure you pick up that bottle and clean any water that got anywhere, mom will kill you if you donât clean your mess.âÂ
And with that, you left him alone in the kitchen.Â
Jake didnât realize he was holding his breath until he heard your footsteps going up the stairs. He quickly cleaned up the spill and threw away the bottle.
Jake made his way back to the hallway, stopping at the door of the spare room, and seeing the bulge in his shorts.Â
âFuck,â he whispered, eyes going straight to the bathroom door.Â
He locked himself in, pulling his shirt over his head and to the floor, quickly dropping his shorts and boxers down to his ankles.Â
His cock pulsating and red, precum leaking from the tip.Â
Jake took himself into his hand, pumping himself slowly. Head leaning back against the wall, mouth slightly open.Â
Jake stared at himself in the mirror, watching as stroked himself, hand picking up speed.Â
His hand wasnât enough, and as guilty as he already felt, he imagined his hand was yours. Imagine how your hand would be wrapped around his thick cock, thumb spreading his precum around the tip. He imagined how itâd feel to how your lips on his neck, kissing down his chest and torso until your lips wrapped around his cock, tongue licking up and down his shaft.Â
Jake had to bite down on his lips to keep his moans quiet, whining at the sensation of the twitch his dick made, so close to release.Â
He whispered, âIâm cumming Y/NâŠIâm cum-âÂ
Before he could finish his words, his cum was dripping down his hand.Â
Jake slowed his hand movement, chasing his high.Â
He looked down at his mess, taking deep breaths and relaxing against the wall.Â
âFuckâŠoh fuckâŠâÂ
Jake knew thinking of you while he got himself off would only make this sexual frustration worse. How was he going to survive the next two weeks? He barely survived the first day.Â
â
If you werenât awkward around Jake before, you sure are now.Â
You barely slept at all last night because of the hard-boiled embarrassment you felt.Â
You came onto your older brother's best friend?! What were you even thinking? You can already see how pissed off Jay would be if he found out what happened last night.Â
You knew what happened was just a one-time thing. Some weird thing that happened because of your choices.Â
But the way Jake looked at youâŠhow his eyes spoke for himâŠit clouded your mind.Â
When you walked into the kitchen that morning, Jake, Sunghoon, and Heeseung sat at the kitchen table yelling and pushing each other while your brother stood at the stove flipping pancakes.Â
Jay was the first to notice you, âAye, good morning stinks.âÂ
Three other pairs of eyes fell onto you, feeling Jakeâs gaze specifically.Â
You walked to your brother, taking a glance at the pancakes, âWhen will they be ready?â Your mouth was practically watering just by looking at them. Maybe it was a good idea to come back home, all for Jayâs cooking.Â
âSoon, go sit down with everyone else, impatient.âÂ
You stuck your tongue out at him, crossing your arms, âHow can I not be impatient when I donât get to have your cooking anymore?âÂ
Jay rolled his eyes, âMaybe if you came home more often-â
âOkay, whatever corn lover.â You scoff, âYou win.âÂ
Jay chuckled at his victory, telling you once again to sit down.Â
You grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, eyes landing back at the spot Jake had you pressed against just the night before.Â
Jake took notice of your stare on the spot. Covering his mouth with his fingers, eyes staring down at your legs and how your ass is barely covered by your shorts.Â
Itâs like you were trying to tempt him.Â
Sunghoon also noticed your stare at the counter, raising a brow in concern, âYou good over there Y/N?âÂ
The thoughts of last night faded from your mind as you turned around to face him, smiling with a âMmhmm! Just lost in thought!âÂ
Oh, Jake couldnât help but tease you, âWhatâs up with that spot to get so lost in thought about?âÂ
He did not.Â
You narrow your eyes at him, the shit-eating grin that spread across his face pissed you off.Â
While the others giggled and went back to their normal business, you kept your eyes on Jake. Fully watching as his eyes traveled down your body.Â
If he wants to play games, youâll play back.Â
You walked back over to Jay, leaning yourself onto the counter, knowing full well your shorts will ride up, showing off your ass cheeks.Â
Jake clenched his fist in his lap, biting down on his fingers at his mouth, feeling his dick start to harden.Â
The way your shorts lifted to show the small amount of fat from your ass, basically showing off to Jake that you were either wearing a thong orâŠnothing at all underneath.Â
You slightly shifted your weight between your legs, the small jiggle of your ass made him clench his fist tighter, having to completely cover his arm over his bulge.Â
Jake knew he couldnât get up and walk out of the kitchen, not with his raging boner on full display. Everyone would clown him.Â
This was the consequence of pushing his luck. Now heâs got to suffer with it.Â
You turned your head back to look at him, seeing the way he twitched in his seat and how his jaw was clenched tightly. The look he was giving you, the same hungry look from last night, but worse.Â
It was enough to dampen your shorts.Â
Jake knew he had to turn the situation around, to drop it entirely, âHey Jay!âÂ
You quickly twisted yourself around, looping your fingers at the back of your shorts to pull them down, seeing the smug look that now played on Jakeâs face.Â
It was a powerful move to get your brother's attention, knowing Jay would turn around along with Sunghoon and Heeseung's attention being brought in this direction.Â
Checkmate.Â
â
You nearly jumped for joy when you found out all the boys would be leaving the house for the day to see their families, Jay going along with them.Â
You decided since now the house was empty and youâd be alone means the massive TV in the living room finally being free.Â
You pulled Netflix on the TV and skipped your way into the kitchen, pushing a bag of popcorn into the microwave, watching the timer go down as you grabbed a bowl for the popcorn, fingers barely holding the bag to drop them into the bowl.Â
You dropped onto the couch, popping the corn into your mouth, free hand searching for something to watch.Â
There was a show your best friend from college told you about not too long ago, but you couldnât for the life of you remember the name of it.Â
You looked on the coffee table, searched the couch, and couldnât find your phone anywhere.Â
âWhere could it beâŠâÂ
You set the popcorn bowl on the coffee table, rushing upstairs into your room, and finding the device sitting on your bed. You snatched it up quickly, shooting your friend a quick text as you made your way back down the stairs, the sound of the spare bathroom door opening nearly sent your soul into orbit.Â
You found yourself standing across the hall from Jake, him shooting the same confused look back at you.Â
âWhat?â he raised a brow, âWhy are you looking at me like that?âÂ
You pointed a finger at him, âWhy arenât you with the boys?âÂ
Jake got more confused, âWhy would I be?âÂ
âDonât you need to see your family? Ya know while youâre back home?â you retort.
Jake chuckled, âHoney, how can I visit my family if theyâre on vacation in Australia?â
YouâŠdidnât think of that. You just assumed his family would be here in town too.Â
You fidgeted with your shorts, suddenly embarrassed for thinking youâd be home alone.Â
Jake looked down at your legs, the thoughts from earlier in the morning coming back to his head.Â
You caught him looking, a smirk playing on your face, âYou sure have a staring problem, Sim Jaeyun.âÂ
His eyes whipped up to yours, the corners of his lips curving, âYou really want to play this game right now, Park Y/N? When thereâs no one else here?âÂ
You came back to the realization that the two of you were alone.Â
Jake walked over to you, arms stretched out at his sides, corning you between himself and the railing of the staircase.Â
Jake knew this was wrong, but the stunt you pulled this morning had him taking a thirty-minute shower after breakfast just to beat himself off to release that tension.Â
âIâm asking you this again, what are you trying to pull, Y/N?âÂ
You were at a loss for words because you werenât sure what you were trying to pull. You want to respect your brother's âoff limitsâ wishes towards his friends, but god damn at the same time, you were so attracted to Jake.Â
He has always been a good-looking kid, you always found him so adorable, but once middle and high school came around and he started to finally fill into his body properly, the more attractive he became and the girls around school knew it too. The last time you saw him was his high school graduation, and boy did those years make him one of the sexiest men youâve ever seen.Â
âTurning me on in front of my friends and your brother? So dirty.âÂ
You clenched your thighs together, trying to hide the arousal you were feeling, except nothing could get past Jake.Â
âYou want me,â he whispered with a smirk, leaning his body closer to yours, âYou want me so bad.âÂ
Jake had to admit seeing you like this was such a turn-on. The way heâs got you clenching your thighs and hasn't even laid a hand on you.Â
God he wanted to touch you again, have your body pressed close against his, feeling your tits squish to his chest and hands grasping your ass.Â
Him being alone in this house with you was dangerous.Â
Day two and still basically a full two weeks left to go.Â
But he canât fold, no matter what.Â
You saw how quickly Jakeâs face changed, how the lust left his eyes and was replaced with the soft puppy dog eyes he normally has.Â
And you knew why.Â
Jay.Â
âMaybe we need to stay clear from each other,â you said, slipping under his arm and up a few steps on the stairs, âLike you said last night, we canât be doing this.âÂ
Jake knew it was the right thing to do. Besides, once these two weeks are over and he goes back to college, things will go back to normal, right? No thoughts of his best friend's little sister fucking him into oblivion.Â
He nodded, pushing himself off the stairs, âBut unfortunately we canât completely ignore each other, thatâll be more suspicious than anything.âÂ
âRight,â you knew the moment your brother caught onto the two of you ignoring each other heâd known something was up. Thankfully for you, nothing has really happened between you and Jake, just some dry humping, dirty talk on Jakeâs end, and him grabbing your ass in the kitchen on top of you teasing him this morning. No big deal! âWe just need to act like how we used to do, like when we were kids.âÂ
Jake softly smiled at you, âThatâll be an easy thing to do, right, stinks?âÂ
You rolled your eyes and stomped up the stairs, âIâm so sick of that name.âÂ
Jake couldnât hold back his laugh, seeing the popcorn bowl you left on the table, âIâm stealing your popcorn!â he yelled, shoving some of the buttery goodness into his mouth. But the only response he got was the sound of your door slamming.Â
â
What Jake thought would be easy ended up being the hardest thing.Â
He couldnât look at you without the thought of laying face first into your bed running across his mind.Â
Talking to you was a small challenge in itself. Mostly because Jay, Sunghoon, and Heeseung were always right there. Jake felt like their eyes were secretly judging him, watching his every move when probably in reality there was nothing but elevator music going on in their heads the entire time. But he still couldnât help but feel like an ant under a microscope and had to watch how he looked at you or spoke to you.Â
The four of them grew up teasing you, calling you silly names, spitting their watermelon speeds at you during the hot summers while you all played outside, and even when they would throw snow at you when you five would play outside in the cold. You were really like a little sister to them, basically family. So why was staying clear from you so hard? It was easy as kids. What was so different now besides how grown up you were now?
It was now Monday, four days into the small vacation at your parents and still all this week and a full week after that to be here. The last couple of days have beenâŠsomewhat of a struggle for you and Jake.Â
You acted normal when everyone was around, but still couldnât help but steal glances at Jake, sometimes already catching him looking at you.Â
After that day you were both alone, you stayed in your room at night, already having some snacks and water up on your nightstand so you wouldnât have to carefully sneak yourself back downstairs and run into Jake again.Â
Thereâs only been a few times where walking past him was a challenge, mostly in the living room trying to find a seat to sit down or in the kitchen when everyone is putting food on their plates at dinner time.Â
Small touches of your hands grazing from reaching for cups or when you walk past each other in the crowded kitchen and living room. Nothing too big that anyone would really noticeâŠor so you hoped.Â
Jay nudged your shoulder with his, âWhatâs up Stink?âÂ
You looked up at your brother, âHuh?âÂ
Jay raised a brow at you, âY/N, youâve been twirling your spoon around your cereal for like five minutes now.â
You thinned your lips into a line, looking back down at your cereal that is more than likely soggy now, âI was, wasnât I?âÂ
You dropped the spoon in the bowl, excusing yourself from the breakfast table and walking the bowl to the sink.
Jay crossed his arms and slid back into his chair, âYou not going to tell me what is going on?âÂ
Your heart dropped, does he know? Does he know you and Jake have been acting not completely normal?Â
âIâm just really tired today is all,â you decided to play it off, hoping your worst fear wasnât happening. Dumping out your wasted cereal and washing the bowl and spoon, âI also didnât sleep much last night, could hear your snoring from next door.âÂ
Jay, who now appeared at your side, chuckled, taking the bowl from your hands and a towel from the cabinet, âWas I really snoring that loud last night? I was exhausted. Heeseung spam called me saying they all could hear it from the guest room downstairs.âÂ
Score! He doesnât know.Â
You watched as he placed the now clean bowl back into its home in the cabinet and placed the towel over the rack to dry, âDamn, even Heeseung heard it? How is your throat not dry as hell?âÂ
Jay flicked his finger against your forehead, laughing as you winced and one hand went to your head while the other balled into a fist and reached across to punch your brother in the chest.Â
His bright smile was enough to completely change your mood, taking whatever negative energy that was balling up to release and escape back to wherever it came from. Jay always had this effect on you, it was one of his best sibling traits.Â
But that didnât stop you from still trying to square up with him.Â
And you failedâŠhorribly.Â
Heeseung and Sunghoon walked into the kitchen at the perfect time for Jay to put you into a headlock between his biceps, âSay you're sorry,â he said in a teasing tone, âAnd Iâll let you go.âÂ
Even with the laughing fit you were in, you still didnât give up. Hands gripping his arms in attempts to get yourself free, âNever!â You chanted, âYou snore like an old man!âÂ
Heeseung and Sunghoon shared glances before walking around the two of you wrestling to grab their own bowls of cereal and sitting at the table.Â
Jake was the last to pile into the kitchen, stopping abruptly at the fight in the kitchen.Â
âJust walk around them,â Sunghoon mentioned, âWe did.âÂ
Jake carefully walked around the two of you who now sat on the floor.Â
You had your arms and legs wrapped around your brother, his back to your chest. But he had your back pressed against the island, his shoes digging into the floor to help him use all his weight towards his chest to keep you against the island.Â
Jake carefully made his way to the table, sitting down beside his other two friends, âHave they been fighting long?â Jake asked, too scared to even prepare himself his own bowl of sugar.Â
Heeseung shrugged, âWe found them like this when we got here.âÂ
Sunghoon groaned, âShould we break it up now? Probably been going on for long enough.âÂ
âHey!â Heeseung shouted. You and Jay stop wiggling around, eyes now set on the table at the three friends staring back at you, âSome of us would like to eat our breakfast in peace.âÂ
âThat sucks,â you joked, tightening your grip on your brother. Jay pushing his weight back onto you.Â
While Heeseung and Sunghoon seemed to completely discard the two siblings, Jake couldnât help but smile fondly at you two.Â
He dropped his jaw into his palm, his smile only growing wider. This moment felt like old times when you were all children.Â
But that happy feeling soon faded and was replaced with fear when your mother walked into the kitchen. Jake never sat up straight so fast. Even Heeseung and Sunghoon stopped slouching.Â
âPark Jongseong! Park Y/N! What are you doing?!âÂ
You and Jay got up from the floor, standing side by side in front of your mother.Â
âArenât you supposed to be at work?â Jay quickly asked with his, sorry for wrestling my baby sister on your clean kitchen floor mom, it wonât happen again, awkward smile.Â
Your mother placed her hands on her hips, âAm I not allowed to have a day off from work?âÂ
Heeseung scooted his chair closer to the table, leaning against it in a way to get as close as possible to the conversation, him eating his cereal as if it were popcorn, and you guys were the movie.Â
Sunghoon followed Heeseung, him pulling at Jakeâs hoodie to pull him close too.Â
âI think what Jay means mom, is that we werenât expecting you to have the day off.â You elbowed your brother's ribs, a small oof leaving his lips from the pain.Â
Your mother relaxed, looking between the two of you, âYour father has a company party tonight up at that new fancy hotel a couple of towns over, we are leaving now to get there at a decent time. We are packing as we speak.âÂ
âWait, you're not coming home tonight?â Jay asked with a hint of shenanigans in his tone.Â
Oh boyâŠ
She shook her head, âThe party is ending too late, so we are staying at the hotel and coming home tomorrow morning.âÂ
Jay didnât even hide the fact that he had some kind of bullshit cooking up in his head as he turned and faced his friends, a smirk forming.Â
You leaned back, glancing at his friends, trying to decipher whatever secret language they were using to communicate with their eyes.
Before your mother could protest whatever shenanigans your brother was planning, your father stumbled into the kitchen.Â
âBoys, I need your help. The mail just came.â your father said, pointing his index finger at each of the three boys one by one, âItâs a big one.âÂ
âAre we building something, Mr. Park?â Heeseung asked, already standing up from the table.Â
Your father nodded with a big smile, âWe bought a hot tub for the back porch.âÂ
â
You sat at the picnic table, cold hands shoving into your hoodie pocket, watching as the three boys hovered around Sunghoon who held the directions to the hot tub.Â
âWhen your dad said he got a hot tub that he needed help setting up, I thought he meant he was going to be a part of helpingâŠâ Jake sighed, shoving his hands into his jean pockets.Â
Jay also sighed, âYeah, trust me. He put his whole faith into us with this one. Not to mention one person is just watching while we struggle.âÂ
The three boys looked at you. You sat up straighter, smiling at them, and waved, âDad never told me to help.âÂ
Each of them glared at you before going back to the instruction booklet.Â
You were surprised your parents even bought the hot tub. Mostly since it would only be the two of them using it up until the spring came when it got too hot for it. Plus you and the boys would only be able to use it while you were visiting. But itâs their money, not yours. They can do what they please.Â
âWait,â Heeseung said, picking up one of the hard plastic pieces, âI figured it out.âÂ
The boys, sooner than later, had the hot tub built. It was a beautiful oak brown wood color with six seats and came with massaging capabilities with cool lights at the bottom for when it was dark out. It was small, and everyoneâs legs would get all tangled up, but beautiful nevertheless.Â
The next step was setting up the pumps. Which racked the boy's brains too hard, causing them to sit at the picnic table with you.Â
âMy brain hurts,â Heeseung said rubbing his temples, âI need a break.âÂ
Sunghoonâs eyes lit up quickly, he sat up on the bench, hands slapping onto the table, âTell us your plan, Jay!âÂ
Jakeâs attention also drew in, curious as well, âYeah whatâs the plan?âÂ
Heeseung looked up at his friends, also waiting.Â
You looked at your brother, âAre you talking about whatever hidden language you three stooges had while in the kitchen earlier?âÂ
âHow dare you compare us to the three stooges!â Sunghoon snapped, reaching over to flick your forehead, but you were too quick, swatting his hand away.Â
âCanât tell me I am wrong?â you retort, âAnyways, spill the beans.âÂ
Jay looked between his two friends, âMight as well tell her,â Jake shrugged, âSheâs already onto us.âÂ
You shook your brotherâs shoulder, âSPILL!âÂ
âParty,â he sighed, shrugging you off, âWe are going out tonight.âÂ
You raised a brow, switching glances between the three idiots, âAnd you were trying to keep that a secretâŠwhy?â
âWe couldnât go to parties when we lived here?â Jay sassed.Â
âThat didnât stop you from sneaking out your window and jumping into Heeseungâs car?â you threw back, âYouâre adults now, you think our parents can stop you?âÂ
Jake released a giggle, âYour mother actually called Jay on the drive here telling him no drinking while we are here.âÂ
You shrugged, your mother was always against drinking and going to parties. Itâs what caused Jay and yourself to sneak out half of your high school lives. Your dad caught Jay sneaking in through the front door once and thatâs all it took for him to start using his bedroom window and bribing you to keep your mouth shut until the first time you snuck out and couldnât get back inside due to your window closing while you were out having no choice but to call him to let you inside.Â
âAnyways, yeah we are going out to a club, possibly bar hop. Just depends.â Jay shrugged it off as if it were no big deal.Â
âCool, when are we leaving?â You asked, fully invested in going.Â
Jay scoffed, âWho said you can come?âÂ
You scrunch your nose at your brother, âI am an adult, if you tell me no I could always drive myself and follow you guys.âÂ
Heeseung chuckled, âSheâs got a point, might as well let her come.â
You gave your brother a smug look, âSee?â
âFine, jeez!â he groaned.Â
âPlus, maybe youâll get lucky and someone else can take me off your hands.â you wiggled your eyebrows, hoping they picked up what you were putting down.Â
Jake was the first one that pick it up. Chills being sent down his body. Eyes darting between you and Jay, then it finally clicked in his head.Â
âNo!â Jay snapped, âNot happening, keeping you in my sight.âÂ
You rolled your eyes, knowing damn well once you all get to the club or bar and get some alcohol in your system Jay canât stop anything.Â
Heeseung slapped his hands on the table, âAnyways, enough of that! Letâs get these pumps on the hot tub working so we can get ready to leave, thereâs five of us that have to get ready and lord knows we will need that time.âÂ
Sure enough, the boys got the hot tub up and running smoothly in no time.Â
â
âWear the fucking jacket Y/N!â Jay snapped, yelling over the loud music from the club, shoving his jacket in your face.
âI said no!â you snapped back at your brother, shoving his jacket out of the way.Â
âDude,â Heeseung rolled his eyes, âdid you not notice her outfit when we got in the car?!âÂ
Jay sent daggers shooting at the older, âI was in the driver's seat dumbass! We were running late on leaving!âÂ
You crossed your arms, looking down at your outfit. It wasnât even bad? You had on your favorite faded blue ripped skinny jeans with fishnet tights underneath. You had on a long-sleeved crop top that was just above your belly button and in a v-neck style, shoving off your breasts, and your long hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail.Â
âBesides, it looks like a completely normal outfit!â Jay once again tried shoving the jacket at you.Â
âDude!â you pushed his hands away once again, âThere isnât anything wrong with my outfit!âÂ
Jay looked at each of his friends to help convince you, his eyes landing on Jake last. Jake just shrugged his shoulders, âYour sister man.âÂ
Jake on the one hand had no problem with your outfit, it was cute, it was sexy, and it showed off all your curves, not to mention it made your tits and ass look GREAT. On the other hand, he can see Jayâs frustration. The moment any of the guys would take their eyes off you, another man would make his move.Â
âJesus Christ Iâm ordering us shots I canât take this bickering,â Sunghoon said with a roll of his eyes as he pushed past everyone making his way to the bar.Â
Jay pleaded with you with his eyes, âY/N.âÂ
âJongseong.âÂ
Sunghoon returned quickly with five shots, handing everyone theirs, âLetâs get fucked up tonight!âÂ
âAmen to that brother!â Heeseung shouted, âCHEERS!âÂ
Everyone clacked the shot glasses together and then drank down the shot.Â
Itâs been a while since you drank last, already making a promise to yourself to not go overboard.Â
Sunghoon collected the glasses and set them on the table next to you all.Â
Jay wouldnât take his eyes off you and you shot darts into his soul.Â
He opened his mouth to say something, his eyes looking away from you for a second, his mouth hanging open at whatever sight he saw behind you.Â
You raised a brow, turning behind you to see what he was staring at, âWow, and you want ME to cover up?âÂ
Granted, the female your brother was going heart eye for was beautiful, she just happened to be showing off a lot more skin than you. She had a matching black crop top and skirt with black boots. It was a cute outfit, no wonder it got Jayâs attention.Â
She was also staring back at your brother, even giving him a little wave.Â
âOh shit man,â Sunghoon nudged his arm, âGo get her.âÂ
Jay ran a hand through his dyed hair, walking in her direction, âPut this on, Iâll be right back,â he dropped the jacket on the top of your head and disappeared into the crowd towards the female.Â
You pulled the jacket off you, dropping it down onto the table, âI need more alcohol.âÂ
You walked away from the boys, only for the three of them to follow directly behind you to the counter of the bar, âDonât you guys have girls to be going after?âÂ
Heeseung chuckled, wrapping an arm around your shoulders while he leaned against the counter, âWe came here to drink, Y/N, and thatâs exactly what we are doing.âÂ
You pulled Heeseung off you, âCanât you do that somewhere else?âÂ
Sunghoon leaned closer to you, âYou trying to get rid of us?â he gave you his famous smirk, and oh man did you want to punch him.Â
âDuh?â you said matter of fact, âIsnât it obvious?âÂ
âYeah, Sunghoon,â Heeseung said, slinging his arm back around you, âShe wants to get laid tonight, she canât be seen with three other guys hovering around her.âÂ
Jake didnât like this conversation nor did he want to hear it. In hopes of changing the vibes, he called the bartender over. âCan we get a couple of rounds of shots please?â
The bartender nodded, âComing right up!âÂ
You once again removed Heeseung from you, getting more irritated by the second. You didnât know what was more annoying, your brother, or his friends.Â
The eight shots were placed in front of you all, everyone taking one into their hands.
âCheers!â Jake calmly said, once again clacking the glasses together before slurping down the liquid.Â
You set the glass down and then dropped your head into your hand, this wasnât how you wanted the night to go. You expected to drink with the boys, yeah, but you werenât expecting them to be up your ass.Â
âIs that who I think it is?â Heeseung asked, pointing a finger down the bar.Â
Everyone shifted their gaze looking in the direction Heeseung was pointing at.Â
âNo way!â you gasped, leaning your head more into your hand, âIs that Choi Yeonjun?!âÂ
As if hearing his name being called from across the bar, he turned and faced your direction, his eyes wandering between the four of you. He gave a small wave, his eyes lingering on you. Way too long for Jakeâs liking.Â
The more shots Jake ordered, and the more the liquid courage went down your throat, the more you wanted to walk over to Yeonjun.Â
âAre you going to keep giving him heart eyes or are you gonna actually go talk to him?â Sunghoon said with a roll of his eyes, taking another shot down.Â
You tucked your lip between your teeth, slightly pulling at your ponytail while making eye contact with Yeonjun, him giving you a few winks and his own lip bite to flirt back.Â
It was driving Jake up a wall.Â
âShould I?â you asked, âHavenât seen him since he graduated a few years before you guys.âÂ
Yeonjun used to be in band class along with the boys and even lived the next street over from you and Jay before he moved away after graduation. He wasnât close with the boys since he had his friend group, but they all hung out a few times from what you could remember.Â
âY/N, maybe you shouldnât,â Jake said, taking a small step closer to you as he eyed Yeonjun.Â
âWhy not?â you stood from the bar, causing Jake to bring his eyes back to you. You adjusted your shirt, pulling it slightly down to reveal your tits a bit more.Â
Jake clenched his jaw at the sight, seeing how your tits slightly jiggled from you adjusting your shirt, and the fact Yeonjun was about to see it up close and personal wasnât sitting right with him.Â
âHow do I look?â you asked, turning and looking at each of them for their opinions.Â
âYou look hot, now go talk to him before some other girl beats you to it!â Heeseung said, quickly pushing you away from them, which gave you no other choice but to walk over to him.Â
Once you were far enough away, Jake glared at Heeseung.Â
âDude what?â he scoffed, âShe came here for this reason. Jay ainât even around, relax.âÂ
Thatâs not the point.
âCome on, letâs go back to the table, Iâm tired of standing,â Sunghoon said, collecting the leftover full shots, âHee, Jake, order us some beer or something.âÂ
âWell, hello there,â Yeonjun said, pulling you into a hug, âItâs been what? three-four years?âÂ
You nodded into his shoulder, âItâs really been a while hasnât it?âÂ
Yeonjun sat back on his bar stool, pulling the one beside him out, âPlease sit.âÂ
Now that you are closer to him, you can see how grown-up he has gotten. Damn, what is with everyone you knew getting hit with puberty like a fucking truck?Â
âAre you still friends with Soobin, Beomgyu Taehyun, andâŠ?âÂ
âHuening kai?â he smiled, âOf course!â he glances around the club then looks back at you, âThey are around here somewhere.âÂ
You came over here specifically to flirt and hopefully get dragged out of this club by him, yet youâve found yourself at a loss for words. Heâs too beautiful and sexy with how he smiles, itâs throwing you for a loop. Plus you barely knew him back in school, only the basics really.Â
Yeonjun leans closer to you, placing his hand on your forearm, thumb rubbing circles, âHow is your brother?â he asked, glancing behind you, âI saw you are here with Lee, Sim, and the other Park.âÂ
You sighed, âJay is around here somewhere,â you said, taking a quick look around the club, just to find your eyes back on Yeonjun.Â
Yeonjun sucked on his bottom lip as he stared you up and down, his eyes always landing back down onto your tits.Â
Yeonjun remembers perfectly well how overprotective Jay was over his sister, so if Yeonjun wanted to get you out of your clothes, he needed to act fast before Jay caught eyes on the two of you.Â
Yeonjun was so attracted to you right now. He found you cute back in school, but damn did you grow up to be such a fine woman. And with the way your friends were eyeballing him, he knew they too found you just as sexy, making him need to act even faster before one of them decided to ruin everything.Â
Jake took notice of how Yeonjun was eye fucking you without a care in the world. His hand was on your arm as you two talked. Oh, it was setting him off.Â
âDamn,â Heeseung said, putting his beer bottle to his lips, âYouâre going to burn a hole in the guy if you keep staring at him like that.â
âAre we just going to let him touch her like that?â Jake spat out, taking his eyes off Yeonjun to look at his friends, âYou both are staring at them too!!â
Sunghoon shrugged, âI am only watching to see if he can actually bag her.âÂ
âDude,â Heeseung quickly said, âOne hundred bucks that he fucks up somehow.âÂ
Jake furrowed his eyes, âWhat the actual fuck?âÂ
âWhat?â Sunghoon snapped, âYouâre acting like Jay right now. What is up with the two of you? Huh?âÂ
Jake didnât know how to answer that. He canât tell them the sexual frustration heâs been feeling knowing one of them will let it slip to Jay either by accident or purposely.
âI am just worried about her, that's all,â Jake said, looking back over to you.Â
In the time Jake had his eyes off you, Yeonjun had his stool pulled closer to you, his legs found their way between yours, his knees touching yours and hand resting on your thigh, his fingers slowly slipping between the tears of your jeans.Â
Jakeâs jaw locked, his hands forming into fists.Â
âJake,â Heeseung said calmly, noticing his friend's behavior, âLetâs think smart about this, ya?âÂ
âShe is basically our family and youâre just going to stand by and let some random dude touch her like that?!â Jake snapped.Â
âJake, he isnât some random dude, we went to school with him,â Heeseung tried to play damage control, but it wasnât working.Â
âHe also had a reputation for the females he pulled into his bed!â Jake spat.Â
Sunghoon let out a whistle and with a tilt of his head said, âYouâre so into her.âÂ
Jake whipped his head around, âWould you let Yeji be in Y/N position right now?âÂ
Sunghoon scoffed, âFuck no! She wouldnât be anywhere near here!âÂ
âThen whatâs the difference of letting the girl we grew up with be in that position right now?âÂ
Heeseung sighed, âJake, what is really going on with you? Youâd never bat an eye at her before.âÂ
I want her all to myself. Donât want another man touching her.Â
Jake looked away from his friends. Heeseung was right, heâd never thought twice about you before now, he should be supporting your choices to get laid.Â
Except he wasnât.Â
Yeonjunâs hand completely slipped between the tear of your jeans, squeezing your thigh as he continued to eye fuck the shit out of you.Â
And thatâs all it took.Â
Jake shot from the chair, his brain on autopilot.Â
âJAKE!!â Both his friends called after him. Jake ignored them.Â
Jake approached the two of you quickly, Yeonjun locked eyes with Jake and slid his hand out of your jeans with a disgusted look on his face clearly showing his irritation towards Jake.Â
âHey,â Jake said, his hand finding your lower back, his fingers twisting into your belt loop and slightly pulling, âLetâs go find your brother and leave, ya? We still have a few other places to check out.âÂ
Oh here we go, Yeonjun thought.Â
âWow, no hey Yeonjun! Long time no see! How ya been?â Yeonjun sassed, his thumb still making soft figure eights on your forearm.Â
Jake burnt holes into him, âSup, Choi, long time no see. How have you been? Cool. Bye.âÂ
âJake!â you snapped at his rudeness.Â
Jakeâs hand found your waist, slightly pulling you again in an attempt to remove you from the stool.Â
âI donât think Y/N wants to leave,â Yeonjun glared at him.
Jake scoffed, reaching over to remove his hand from your arm, then completely wrapping around you, lifting you from the seat.Â
Yeonjun clicked his tongue, âIs there a problem, Sim?âÂ
Jake chuckled, âNah man,â he looked around behind Yeonjun, âWhere is the rest of your rat pack huh?âÂ
âJake!!â you snapped at him again. What the fuck was his problem?Â
Yeonjun chuckled back, his tongue digging into the side of his cheek, standing up from the stool, âWhy donât you let miss pretty thing go and head back over to Mr. Ace and Ice Prince, ya?âÂ
Yeonjun reached for you, only for Jake to whip you behind him, âDonât you fucking touch her.âÂ
âCome on man, trying to get my dick wet, stop gatekeeping her pussy for yourself.âÂ
Oh, man.Â
âThe fuck did you just say?!â Jake lost it, letting his grip on you go and stepping into Yeonjunâs face.Â
This canât be good, âJake!â you gripped onto his arm, trying to yank him back, âJake come on, letâs just go!âÂ
He wouldnât budge, so you did the next best thing. Whipping your head around to find Heeseung and Sunghoon. Waving your hands to get their attention to look in your direction, eyes pleading with them. They got up immediately.Â
âYou heard me, Sim,â Yeonjun said, âI saw the way youâve been staring her down all night.âÂ
Jake clicked his tongue, âMan, fuck off!â and Jake shoved him.Â
Yeonjun shoved him back harder. Â
Before Jake could swing, Heeseung wrapped his hands around Jake, âWoah woah woah!! Hoon get Y/N out of here!â Heeseung yelled as he fought to keep Jake still.Â
Sunghoon wrapped his arm around your waist, trying to pull you away from the situation, âY/N, letâs go please,â but you fought against him, âI need you safe! Please!â You stopped struggling against Sunghoonâs hold, slowly letting him back you away.Â
âJake, man listen to me,â Heeseung whipped himself in front of Jake, âLetâs just go okay? Think about Y/N, we need to get her somewhere safe, ya?âÂ
Jake took his eyes off Yeonjun and over to Heeseung, his body relaxing and nodding. The last thing he wants is to put you in danger or see him start a fight.Â
Jake nodded, letting Heeseung push him back and turn him around.Â
The moment Heeseungâs hands were off Jake and he was now at his side, Yeonjun scoffed, âPussy shit.âÂ
Pussy shit?
Heeseung wasnât fast enough to get ahold of Jake, because now his fists were balled and made contact with Yeonjunâs cheek.Â
Yeonjun hunched to the side, his left hand touching the area Jake just punched him, only to quickly whip around and land a punch right on the corner of the left side of Jakeâs mouth.Â
âFind my brother!â You yelled, fighting against Sunghoonâs hold on you, âFind Jay!!âÂ
Heeseung ran into the crowd, pushing past the dancing bodies on the floor.Â
Jake licked the blood that dripped down his lip, letting out an evil laugh before gripping Yeonjunâs collar of his shirt, Yeonjun took his fist full of Jakeâs shirt and gave him a shove.Â
âYouâre fucking dead!â Jake spat, getting himself ready to throw another punch.Â
Before the next moves could be made, Heeseung and Jay were at Jakeâs side with Soobin and Taehyun at Yeonjunâs.Â
âHey! Hey! Hey!â Jay yelled, pushing Yeonjun off his friend and then wrapping his hands around Jakeâs biceps, Heeseung doing the same in hopes of holding him back.Â
Soobin and Taehyun also hand their own death grips on their older.Â
âWhat the actual fuck is wrong with you two?!â Jay snapped, eyes darting between him and Jun, âFighting in a club? Jesus fucking Christ.âÂ
Sunghoon let you go to run to his friend's side, placing his hands on Jakeâs shoulders to help pull him back.Â
âLetâs fucking go!â Heeseung growled, âNOW!âÂ
You made your way over to Jake, eyes landing on the cut on his lip. You whipped your head back around and looked at Yeonjun, seeing the bruise already starting to form on his cheek.Â
Much deserved.Â
Jakeâs hands found your waist as he pulled you to him, giving Yeonjun one last fuck you look as he backed away. Jay also places a hand on your back, giving Yeonjun a stare himself.Â
Yeonjun chuckled, taking a step forward but his friends stopped him, âYeah! Learn to get your dog and bitch of a sister under control!âÂ
Yeonjun was now on the floor on his knees, spitting blood onto the tile, and blood dripping from Jayâs fist.Â
You quickly ran over to your brother, pulling him away, watching as Soobin and Taehyun pulled Yeonjun up.Â
âLetâs just go hyung,â Taehyun said, âYouâve drank way too much tonight.âÂ
With a nod from Yeonjun, he let Taehyun pull him away, Beomgyu taking Soobinâs spot as he quickly apologized to us for Yeonjun then followed behind his four friends.Â
Heeseung drove home while Sunghoon sat in the passenger seat.Â
You sat between Jay and Jake, your hands examining your brothers, napkins, and a bag of ice you guys got from the bar laid onto his hand.Â
âI canât believe you punched him that hard,â you said, squeezing his wrist tightly.Â
âI wasnât going to let him talk about you and Jake like that,â your brother mumbled, âcouldnât let Jake get hit again either.â he teased
âFuck man,â Jake said, leaning his head back and tilting it to look at Jay, âI had him!âÂ
Everyone laughed.Â
âOh!!â Heeseung finally spoke up, pointing a finger at Sunghoon, âYou owe me one hundred dollars!!âÂ
âHuh?â Jay questioned.Â
âThey made a stupid ass bet,â Jake said, rolling his eyes, âSunghoon lost.âÂ
âI wouldnât have if someone didnât storm off.â Sunghoon snapped, whipping around in the seat to look at Jake, earning a middle finger from Jake.Â
âWasnât going to let him continue touching Y/N like that.âÂ
âThank you,â Jay said, âFor watching after my sister.âÂ
Jake nodded, âSomeone had to.âÂ
You rolled your eyes and sent your elbow flying into his ribs.Â
Turning your attention back to Jay, you shifted the ice and napkin up to take a look at the cuts on his hand, âItâll be bruised for awhile, you hit him pretty hard.âÂ
Jay just nodded, eyes getting heavy.Â
âHey,â you tap his leg, âYou okay?âÂ
Jay smiled with a laugh, âIâm so fucking hammered, surprised I sobered up enough to stop that fight.âÂ
You smiled sweetly at your brother, âLetâs get you to sleep once home.âÂ
â
After the night you had, all you wanted was to try out the hot tub.Â
Once you and the guys got Jay into bed, you watched as they made their way into the spare room, the door closing.Â
You did get into bed, but the jitters from the fight still haunted you. And what better way to get those jitters away than to try out the brand-new hot tub?Â
You quickly changed into your dark blue bikini, slipping sweatpants and a sweatshirt over your body, and quickly but quietly made your way down the stairs, into the laundry closet to grab a towel and into the kitchen, carefully unlocking and sliding the glass door open and shut.Â
Turning the hot tub and pulled the cover off and the lights lit up the porch, and watched the bubbles start to form. You dropped the towel onto the table and slid out of your sweats, the cold immediately touching your skin.Â
You tied your hair back into a tight bun and quickly jumped over the steps and slid your body into the warmth.Â
You released a soft ahhh as the water warmed your body.Â
You laid your head back onto the pillow at your seat, closing your eyes and moving your arms back and forth.Â
No wonder your parents wanted a hot tub, this shit was relaxing as hell.Â
The sound of the sliding glass door opening scared you, making you quickly sit up and whip around. Your eyes nearly rolled out of your sockets from how hard you rolled them.Â
âHello to you too,â Jake said snarkly, âWhat are you even doing up?âÂ
You turned back around, âCan say the same about you.âÂ
Jake wasnât expecting anyone to be in the hot tub, he wanted to be alone and get out of the spare room for a few hours. After tonight a relaxing time in the hot tub sounded amazing.Â
He was probably the last person you wanted to be around, yet he also couldnât help but feel happy knowing you were also here.Â
âAm I allowed to get in or??âÂ
You looked back over at him, giving a small nod, âYeah, thatâs fine. Youâre already out here.âÂ
The corner of Jakeâs lips curled, dropping the towel next to yours.Â
His hands found the ends of his sweatshirt, pulling it up and over his body.Â
You felt your face flush. Feeling as if you just saw the work of a God.Â
You knew he worked out, his whole physique was proof of that. But seeing shirtless was a whole new level.Â
Your eyes wandered from his chest down to his abs. Yeah, he was sculpted by the gods.Â
Jake looped his fingers in his sweatpants, giving a small smirk at you staring, âStaring problem?âÂ
You quickly made eye contact with him, then shifted yourself back around, âNo.âÂ
He softly laughed, dropping his sweatpants to the ground and climbing into the hot tub.Â
âI am so glad I brought my swimming shorts.âÂ
You watched as he sat across from you, his legs sliding down beside yours.Â
âDid you just, randomly pack swimming shorts?â you asked, raising an eyebrow.Â
Jake laid his arms out against the top of the tub, sinking himself lower in, âYeah. Always have to be prepared.âÂ
You narrowed your eyes, âItâs the middle of winter.âÂ
Jake chuckled, âHeeseungâs family has a heated pool. Figured we would go use it at some point during this trip.âÂ
All you could do was nod. Youâve only ever been to the Lee household during birthday parties for Heeseung as kids. Guess the heated pool came around after you stopped hanging around them.Â
Everything went silent. It was awkward, both of you knew that. You both went from staying clear of each other the best you could to sitting across from each other alone.Â
âIâm sorry.âÂ
Huh.Â
You looked at him with confusion, âWhy?âÂ
Jake sat up, leaning forward, and wrapped his arms around himself, âFor starting a fight with Yeonjun in front of you. For him talking about you the way he did.âÂ
âJake,â you also leaned forward, placing your hand on his knee, âYou were just defending me, thereâs nothing wrong with that. My brother would beat the shit out of you for even apologizing for it.âÂ
Jake scoffed, âThe fight wouldnât have happened in the first place if I didnât lose my cool.âÂ
âYou arenâtâŠwrongâŠâ You studied him. Youâve known Jake basically his whole life, you know his mannerisms and tell by his body language that he was truly deeply sorry, thatâs one thing that has never changed about him, âJust donât be sorry. You were defending me.âÂ
Jake nodded, his eyes finding a corner of the tub, watching as the bubbles pop, then softly laughed, âSorry I cock blocked you, that wasnât cool of me.âÂ
You let out a small giggle, âYeah, you really did cock block me,â you let out a sigh, âToo bad he ended up being an asshole, really wanted to have a good fuck.âÂ
âFuck me then,â Jake said softly.Â
All you could do was look at him, not being able to tell if he was serious or not.Â
âFunny joke.âÂ
âIâm not joking, Y/N.âÂ
The whole reason you wanted to go out and gain a hookup was to release the sexual frustration that you had for the man sitting in front of you. But now that said man is straight up asking you to fuck him.Â
âYou said we canât be doing this, my brotherââ
âI donât care,â Jake moved forward, reaching his hand out and grabbing your waist, pulling you back over to him and in his lap.Â
His hands squeezed your thighs on either side of him, his forehead connecting to yours, âI canât take it anymore. The way youâve been teasing meâŠAfter seeing the way Yeonjun was undressing you with his eyesâŠthe way he was touching you.âÂ
His length grew hard underneath you, his hands sliding up to the strings of your bikini bottoms, gripping them tightly.Â
Jake thought he could survive these two weeks, thought he was stronger, and that the respect and bond he had with Jay was strong enough to keep him away. Unfortunately, your hold on him was stronger.Â
âI want you, so bad,â he whispered, his hot breath hitting your lips.Â
You placed your hands on his shoulders, âI want you tooâŠâÂ
You did. Oh god did you want him badly. But how could you betray your brother's rules? Heâd kill you both.Â
Jake pulled at the strings of your bottoms slightly, âJust give me the word, and Iâll fuck you so good I swear it.âÂ
Oh, fuck it.
You nodded, âJaeyun, please.âÂ
And that line got crossed.Â
Jakeâs lips connected to yours, kissing you with such passion and need, like heâs been wanting for this his entire life.Â
His fingers pulled at both sides of strings, your bottoms completely coming undone and him pulling them away from your body to float off somewhere in the hot tub.Â
His tongue invades your mouth, twisting the muscle around yours letting soft and quiet moans release into your mouth.Â
You rolled your hips against him, sliding your folds against his clothed length as your fingers got tangled up in his hair.Â
Jake squeezed your hips, pushing you down harder onto him, bucking his hips up in motion with yours.Â
You released your mouth from his, a string of saliva connected to your mouths, âI need you, Jake, please.âÂ
His hands left your hips and flew to his shorts, his fingers pulling at the strings. You, being impatient, looped your fingers into his shorts, helping him pull them down.Â
âFuck baby, that needy for my cock?âÂ
You nodded, watching as his shorts went down at his thighs, his thick length now resting against his abdomen.Â
Taking his cock in your hands, you slowly pumped him.Â
Jakeâs hand went back to your waist, biting his lips. Fuck your hand feels so good against his cock, it was everything he ever imagined and more.Â
Jake lifted you, letting you adjust him to your fuck hole, lining him up perfectly.Â
âYou ready, baby?â Jake asked, wanting one last form of permission from you before crossing the line even further behind the return.Â
You nodded, slowly sliding yourself down onto him.Â
You both groan out at the feeling of him bottoming out, the sensation already sending Jake over the edge. He could cum right now just from bottoming out.Â
You rolled your hips slowly to help get adjusted to his size, hands gripping his broad shoulders as you slowly picked up your pace.Â
Jakeâs mouth connected back to yours as you rode him. bucking his hips up at the same motion as you.Â
âFucckkkk, youâre so tight, baby. Taking my dick so good, oh fuck.âÂ
You picked up the pace, his dick hitting your g-spot perfectly.Â
Jakeâs brain was going fuzzy, the sensation of his dick buried deep in your cunt was sending him to another world.Â
âFuck, fuck, fuck, fuckâŠâ Jake slid his hands up to the string of your top, fingers gripping them tightly along with your skin, fingers digging in as he slid them back down your back, his hips bucking up harder into you.Â
You moaned out a little too loud, Jakeâs lips reattaching to your lips, âShhh, baby, you need to stay quiet.âÂ
You nodded, biting down on your lips to suppress your sounds as you continued to slide his dick in and out of youâŠin and out, in and out.Â
Jake knew he would cum soon, that knot in his stomach threatening to snap and the twitch of his dick.Â
Then your pussy tightened around him, your own high approaching.Â
âIâmâŠcumming soon,â you whispered, digging your nails into his shoulders.Â
âYeah, baby?â He slid his hand down to your heat, thumb rubbing circles on your clit, âWanna cum?âÂ
âPlease.â You begged, throwing your head back as your legs got weaker, biting down on your tongue as the knot snapped.Â
âThatâs it, pretty girl, make a mess all over my cock.âÂ
You fell forward, resting your head against his, his hands squeezing your hips tightly as he fucked into you, the overstimulation making you dizzy along with the heat from the water.Â
âJakeâŠâÂ
âI know baby girl,â he whispered, locking his jaw at the knot and getting close to releasing, âFuck, Iâm cumming, Iâm cumming.âÂ
With a groan, he pumped his seed against your walls riding out his high.Â
Jake wrapped his arms around you, resting his forehead against your neck, leaving open-mouthed kisses on your skin.Â
You tangled your fingers in his hair and let out a sigh, âJay is going to kill us both.âÂ
Jake chuckled, âYeah, but only if he finds out.âÂ
You both took a moment to catch your breaths, your hands releasing from his hair and sliding down his neck, your fingers stopping at the chain of his necklace. A beautiful large double link pendant.
Jake noticed your eyes at his neck, âItâs pretty, right?â he said between deep breaths.
You nodded, twisting the metal between your fingers.
He lifted his hands from your sides, reaching behind him and unattaching the clasp, removing it from his body and moving it to yours, the double links dropping at your collar bones.
âJake, no, I canât take this!â you went to take the necklace off, âThis was probably very expensive!â
Jake grabbed your hands, sliding them back around his neck, âItâs yours now, a beautiful necklace for a very beautiful woman. Keep it.â
Your heart was racing, your stomach filled with butterflies at the way he smiled and looked at you.
âIt looks better on you anyway baby,â Jake wraps one arm back around you, his free hand cupping your jaw and pulling you in for a kiss.
â
Jake had to admit, that seeing you walking around with his necklace around your neck drove him insane.Â
It was like his own way of marking you without physically having to do it.Â
You plopped down onto the couch next to Heeseung, the necklace sitting beautifully against your collarbones.Â
Oh, did Jake want his lips on your neck right now.Â
âDamnit!â Sunghoon shouted, tossing the Nintendo Controller onto the coffee, âWhy are you so damn good?!âÂ
Heeseung raised a brow, âItâs Mario Kart??? It doesnât take skill??âÂ
Jay patted his back, âAt least you arenât last place, like someone sitting in the corner over there,âÂ
And then all eyes went to Jake.
âOh, fuck off!â he snapped, âI donât play Mario Kart!âÂ
You smiled at your friends, eyes connecting with Jakeâs.Â
He gave you his flirty smile, eyes leaving yours, and went back to the TV as the next race started.Â
You couldnât take your eyes off him. Last night in the hot tub replayed in your mind on a loop. The way his hands felt against your skin, how his lips fit perfectly to yours. How his cock feltâŠYou couldnât help but wonder if he went to bed last night too with his brain flooding of you.Â
And he did.Â
Having sex with you was everything Jake imagined it to be. It was actually BETTER than he imagined it. To finally feel you wrapped around his cock and hear your pretty moans in his ears. Oh, it was heaven.Â
The only issue now isâŠwellâŠhe wants more. So much more.Â
He spent most of his time last night after the hot tub sex thinking the next moment heâd be able to fuck you. Thinking how heâd be able to get you alone long enough or even have the opportunity to get you alone.Â
Another problem is, that those chances are slim.Â
You lifted the collar of your hoodie over your neck, not wanting to chance your brother, or really anyone, seeing Jakeâs necklace.Â
You both crossed a line and now have to deal with the secret of it.Â
The sound of the washing machine went off, telling you your laundry was finished.Â
You quickly jumped from the couch.Â
âWhat are we doing for lunch?â Jay finally said, âY/N? What do you think?
You stopped halfway out of the living room, turning back to look at your brother, âWhy not just order takeout?âÂ
Jay shrugged, âGuys?âÂ
As the boys discussed lunch, you finished your walk back to the laundry room.Â
By the time you transferred your wet clothes into the dryer, Jake walked in, âIs the washer open now?âÂ
You gave him a nod, closing the dryer door and turning it on.Â
âWhat did you decide for lunch?â you asked, leaning against the dryer.Â
Jake shoved his dirty clothes into the washing machine, âWe decided on takeout like you suggested.âÂ
You nodded, âNice, Iâll go tell Jay what I want.âÂ
You barely were out of the room when Jakeâs hand wrapped around your wrist.Â
He pulled you back, leaning you back against the dryer, âStay, please.âÂ
Jakeâs free hand gripped the door, barely leaving it open a crack.Â
Before you could ask him anything else, his hands cupped your face, his lips crashing to yours.Â
You kissed him back, your hands pulling at his jacket, bringing him closer to you.Â
Jake has been waiting since watching you walk up those stairs last night to kiss you again. To feel you pressed to him again.Â
With one last passionate kiss, he rests his forehead against yours, âJay already knows your order, no need to leave.âÂ
It was true your brother knew your food orders, which was all you needed to stay in place even after Jake removed himself from you to finish starting his laundry.Â
Once the washer was started, he leaned against it beside you, crossing his arms, âCan I ask you something?âÂ
You nudged his arm, âYes, of course! Weâve known each other for our whole lives, you can ask me anything.âÂ
âCan I sneak up to your room tonight?âÂ
It was a simple question, yet it was enough to make your heart stop. He bit the inside of his mouth, anxiously waiting for your answer.Â
His question was proof that last night wasnât a one-time thing. And honestly, you wouldnât mind it. If Jayâs bedroom wasnât right beside yours.Â
âJake,â you whispered, peeking your eyes between the cracked door, âYou know his bedroom is right beside mine, right? And my parents' room down the hall?âÂ
Jake shrugged, âAnd? Thatâs the point of sneaking into your room like we are teenagers.âÂ
You tried to not laugh, looking away from him and his goofy grin.Â
âCome onnnn baby,â he teased, pulling you to his chest, âLet me shove that pretty face of yours face down into your pillows while I fuck you so good from behind.âÂ
He slid his hands down to your ass, squeezing the fat while he pressed his hard length against you, his lips finding your neck, âWanna fuck you so hard and watch my necklace bounce against your pretty collarbones.â
You were melting under his touch. Folding so hard for him. He makes your heart race faster than anyone else ever has.Â
âPleaseâŠâ you softly moaned, hoping he heard you over the sounds of the machines.Â
He did. Hearing you beg for him to fold you like an omelet later tonight was turning him on so badly. He thrust his cock harder against you.Â
âGet on your knees, baby,â Jake whispered into your ear, sending chills down your spine.Â
You dropped down with no hesitation, hands already reaching for the buttons of his jeans, helping him slide them down along with his boxers in one motion.Â
Your mouth watered at the sight of his hard cock resting against his abdomen.Â
Jake stroked himself, watching how undone youâre already becoming for him, âSuch a good girl for me. Put your hands on my thighs, and stick that pretty tongue out.âÂ
You did what you were told, hands resting against his toned thighs, tongue sliding out of your mouth.Â
âFuckâŠâÂ
He placed the tip onto your tongue, immediately wrapping the muscle around him, taking him completely in your mouth.Â
Jake groaned, his hands gripping the edges of the washing machine and praying his knees wouldn't fail him now.Â
You bobbed your head, tongue licking up his shaft all the way to the top, spreading his precum and mixing it with your saliva.Â
Lifting your hand from his thigh, you wrapped it around his length, following the motions as your mouth.Â
Fuck you were sucking him off so good. His mind went cloudy, the only thing he focused on was how fucking good your mouth felt.Â
Jake pulled your long hair into a ponytail, wrapping the locks between his fingers and giving it a tight pull.Â
You moaned against him, the vibrations sending gasping out of his mouth, his hips fucking forward, âOh, fuckâŠY/N, fuck.âÂ
Jake pulled your hair slightly harder, not wanting to hurt you, his dick hitting the back of your throat as he fucked your mouth.Â
Your hands found his thighs again, fingers digging into his skin. You were losing yourself against his cock, knowing full well your panties were soaked.Â
You looked up at him, seeing how much of a mess he was. Pupils were blown out, mouth opened, chest heaving.Â
Who knew you could make such a mess of him?Â
âSucking me off so good, Y/N. IâmâŠfuck Iâm, Iâm gonna cum.âÂ
You stuck your tongue out further, giving him more access to the back of your throat as he continued to face fuck you until his warm load shot down your throat.Â
âClench your lips,â he whispered between breaths. You did as you were told, him slowly sliding his dick from your lips, âSwallow and show me.âÂ
You gulped it down, opening your mouth wide with your tongue sticking out, showing him the proof.Â
Jake smirked, using your hair that was still wrapped around his hands to pull you back up to your feet, âSuch a dirty girl, only for me, ya?âÂ
You nodded, licking the side of your lips.
He gave you one final kiss, then pulled his boxers and jeans back over his hips.Â
The laughter from your brother and friends from the living room filled the house while they cheered over their video games.Â
Jakeâs fingers adjusted his necklace on your neck, fingers rubbing up to your jaw, his heart did flips seeing how you stared back at him with your fucked out lips.Â
âLetâs go back, canât let them get too suspicious.âÂ
Jake watched as you left, carrying your laundry basket quickly up the stairs to your room.Â
He leaned back against the washing machine, hand clenching his shirt, feeling the rush of his heartbeat.Â
Oh, heâs in deep trouble.Â
â
Jakeâs promise to fuck you face down ass up was fulfilled. Yours and his clothes scattered all over the floor of your room. Your moans being muffled out by your pillows and Jakeâs hand at the back of your head shoving your face deeper into the fabric. It was the best youâve ever been fucked.Â
Your bed felt empty after Jake snuck right back out your door and went back downstairs.Â
You were scared tonight would be the last, but fortunately for you, it wasnât.Â
The following night he quietly knocked on your door before quickly slipping in and crawling into bed with you.Â
This went on for the rest of the week. The two of you finding time throughout the day to have a quick make-out session just for him to crawl into your bed at night.Â
But it wasnât always the rough sex youâd have. One night Jake cuddled you until you fell asleep before quietly exiting your bedroom. One night he held you in his arms listening to you talk about your classes back at college and the friends you had. One night he laid his head against your chest, listening to the sweet sound of your breathing and heartbeat. And then, oh god that night, it wasnât rough sex or even a good fuck. He made love to you.Â
He hovered over you, one hand gently cupping your face as he squeezed your leg that was wrapped around his waist. Soft and slow thrusts were completely turned on just from being with each other and the feeling of skin-to-skin contact. How softly heâd kiss you and tell you how pretty you are. How lucky he was to have you in his life.Â
Thatâs the night you completely folded. You fell in love with him. It wasnât about the sex anymore. It was about him. About the man youâve known your whole life, that you grew with and watched him become who he is today.Â
Your feelings for him ran deep.Â
The secret meet-ups during the day turned into playful kisses, him wrapping you up in his arms and hugging you tightly.Â
You were really screwed.Â
The final week of vacation was half over and Jake was dreading the finale. He wasnât ready to leave you yet. Wasnât ready to let you go. Knowing damn well the minute you go your separate ways he would lose his goddamn mind.Â
All because of Jayâs rules. All because of the fucking âoff limitsâ.Â
You and Sunghoon made lunch for everyone, giving your brother a day off from cooking.Â
Since you werenât the best cook, ramen was on the menu.Â
You prepared the noodles and broth while Sunghoon prepared the meat.Â
âYou guys both know that if this ramen turns out like shit it wonât be me beating your asses right?â your brother teased, his eyes looking between Jake and Heeseung.Â
âYeah yeah fuck off,â Sunghoon rolled his eyes, âWe know the ramen lovers will lose their shits. Theyâll survive.âÂ
âHey now,â Jake snipped, turning around to face his friend, âI am so serious about my ramen!âÂ
Heeseung agreed, high-fiving Jake, âWe donât fuck around when it comes to our ramen.âÂ
You finished up two bowls, rolling your eyes as you set the first fresh bowls in front of the ramyeonz, âYou both are so annoying!âÂ
âThey are, arenâtâŠthey.â Jayâs eyes fixated on the necklace around your neck. He barely noticed it with the way your sweatshirt covered it. But when you bent down just right to put the bowls in front of Heeseung and Jake, it became noticeable.Â
If it werenât for Heeseung sitting to his left, and Jake sitting in front of him, Jay wouldnât have clocked the necklace as suspicious and went on about his day.Â
But the necklace looked familiar, and all it took was Jayâs eyes to wander to his best friend, no longer seeing the silver chain sitting against his neck.Â
âCanât believe Iâve spent my whole life stuck with annoying boys like you!â You teased them, earning a middle finger from Heeseung and Jake scoffing out an âwhateverâ trying to shove you playfully but missing as you were too quick to back away.Â
âWe are men! And you totally love us!â Heeseung said with a mouthful of ramen, âDoesnât she Jake? We are the extra brothers you didnât ask for.âÂ
Jay clocked the look on Jakeâs face, the awkward smile he had, and the way he was hesitant to answer, âY-yeah. Of course.âÂ
âWe are stuck with you just as much as youâre stuck with us,â Sunghoon added, âGet over it.âÂ
You elbowed him, âWhatever Hoon!â his smile and laugh causing your own to form. These boys were truly dear to your heart, and it took years of being away from all four of them to realize how deeply you did miss them. Especially your brother.Â
Jay kept quiet most of lunch, his eyes wandering back and forth between you and Jake. Taking mental notes of everything in the small details.Â
How you look at him, how he looks at you. How you sat beside him at the table when you usually sit beside Jay or Sunghoon. The little graze of Jakeâs hand ran across your ass as he walked past you while you and Heeseung cleaned the dishes, causing you to scrunch your nose at him, thinking no one noticed.Â
You all went grocery shopping to refill the food in your parent's cabinets and fridge, Jay taking notes on how Jake was always right behind you or straying not too far from you. Jay was hoping he was overthinking, that maybe the two of you got closer after the bar fight last week, but something didnât sit right with Jay.Â
He lay in his bed staring up at the ceiling that night, the sight of Jakeâs necklace suddenly appearing around your neck.Â
Jay shoved his face into his pillow, trying to chase after the sleep he deeply needed and wanted, wanting to forget everything and give his best friend the benefit of the doubt, to trust the bond they had and the rules that were set.Â
That was until he heard your bedroom door opening and quickly shutting right after.Â
Jake spreads your legs and wraps them around his waist as he bottoms out, one hand flying to cover your mouth as he fucks into you fast and deep.Â
Both of you became a cumming mess.Â
You pulled your shorts over your hips and Jakeâs tee shirt that you stole from his clean laundry over your head.Â
After Jake had his boxers over his hips, he playfully pulled you down onto your bed, his face cuddling up into your neck, âI donât think I ever could get enough of your pussy.âÂ
You wrap your arms around his bare back, drawing small infinity eights, âAnd I donât think I ever could get enough of your dick.âÂ
You felt him smile against your skin, âAt least we are on the same page.âÂ
Jake could get so high off the sex you have, it was addicting, his own personal drug.Â
His heartbeat fastened due to the thought of being away from you. Deciding now was a better time than any to bring up the topic.Â
Jake sat up, his hand resting at your hip, âY/N, can-âÂ
Before Jake could get another word out, your worst fear came to fruition.Â
The door opened with such force, your brother standing in the doorway, jaw locked tightly and fists clenched.Â
âI fucking knew it!âÂ
Your heart stopped, quickly sitting up, trying to find the right words.Â
Jake sat up behind you, âJay, bro, listen to me,âÂ
âThere isnât a DAMN thing to listen to!â Jay yelled, turning on his heels.
âJAY!!â Jake yelled back, jumping from your bed and quickly sliding back into his sweatpants, pulling his shirt over his head as he followed your brother down the stairs, âMan stop we need to talk!!âÂ
You finally found the will to move, climbing out of your bed and rushing down the stairs at the right moment of Sunghoon and Heeseung running from the spare bedroom, confused looks piled onto their faces.Â
âWill you listen to me!â Jake grabbed his friend's shoulder, Jay quickly whipped around and threw his hand off him.Â
âListen to you? Give me one goddamn reason why I should be listening to you right now?!â Jay snapped, getting into Jakeâs face.Â
âWoah! Woah!â Heeseung rushed over, pushing himself between them.Â
âBecause I am your best friend man!â Jake snapped back.Â
âYeah? My best friend?â Jay moved forward, Sunghoon now had to step in, pushing Jay back as Heeseung handled Jake, âMy best friend wouldnât be dicking down my little sister!!âÂ
Everyone in the room froze, Sunghoon and Heeseung making glances between each other, and then between Jay and Jake.Â
Jakeâs jaw locked, not wanting to say the wrong thing right now.Â
You stood at the last step of the stairs, too scared to move.Â
âI gave you one, ONE, rule. That she was off limits,â Jayâs eyes found you, âAnd you! I said no boys!âÂ
âNah, man!â Jake finally spoke up, stepping in front of Jayâs line of sight, âThis is between you and me. Leave her out of it.âÂ
âShe betrayed me just as much as you did!â Jay scoffed, âHow could you do this to me, man?âÂ
Jay relaxed his body as he leaned against the couch, Jake also relaxed, âBro it justâŠit just happened.âÂ
That wasnât the right thing to say, âHow does it just âhappenâ Sim Jaeyun?! Huh?!âÂ
shit.Â
Jake rolled his eyes, âDude, I donât know!â he threw his arms into the air, âIt just did!â
âStop lying!â Jay stood back up, âStop fucking lying to me!âÂ
âOh good FUCKING god! Why are you so protective over her?! Sheâs a grown-ass adult!â Jake ran his hand through his hair, âWe arenât kids anymore man!âÂ
âThat doesnât change the fact that sheâs my everything!! From the moment she was born, I promised I was going to protect her from everyone! including you.âÂ
Jake chuckled, âProtect her from what?!âÂ
âFrom her getting hurt!âÂ
âI wouldnât do that!âÂ
âWhatâs so different with her then huh?â Jay stepped forward, Sunghoon placing his hand on his chest, âWhatâs so different dicking down the girls in chem class and my sister, hmm? Youâre such a playââ
âI am in love with her.â Jake spat out.Â
The room fell silent, confusion not only on Jayâs face but your own.Â
âWhat?âÂ
âIâm in love with her, man,â Jake sighed with a shake of his head, âIâve always been in love with her. Even as kids, IâŠI always had this ache in my heart, never understanding what it was, and because of your stupid ass ruleâŠI was never able to figure it out.âÂ
Jay relaxed himself back against the couch, eyes staring holes into the floor.Â
Jake continued, âYeah I might have been a stupid ass playboy and completely forgot about your sister and what she meant to me but good god, the minute she stepped foot into this houseâŠâ Jake turned and looked at you, âEverything I felt all those years ago became clear.â
Jay looks up at you, the hardness that once sat in his eyes a second ago was gone, nothing sat there except soft sadness.Â
âYes, Iâll admit, I had sex with your sister at first to release the sexual frustration, but the moment it happenedâŠI was done for.âÂ
Jake placed his hands on your face, his forehead touching yours, âSheâs everything to me too, Jay.âÂ
Jay let out a sigh, âWhat about you, stink? Whatâs your side?âÂ
You remove yourself from Jake, walking around him and standing in front of your older brother, âI love him,â Jay rolled his eyes, staring back down at the floor, âBut I love you too!! Jongseong, youâre my everything too. Youâre the best big brother I could have ever asked for, youâve done your job protecting me.âÂ
Jay looked at you with glossed-over eyes, âWhy him? Why out of everyone, one of my best friends?âÂ
You shrugged, âIt just happened that way.âÂ
You stepped closer to him, pulling him into a hug, he gave in and hugged you tightly back.Â
âI am deeply and truly sorry that everything happened this way. I didnât want to hurt you.âÂ
Jay knew that, deep down he knew this wasnât what either you or Jake wanted. That this was something that just kinda happened. And he has to accept it.Â
Jake appears at your side, having you step away, pulling Jay into another hug, âI wonât hurt her. I promise. Iâd die first before Iâd ever do that.âÂ
Jay sighed, also giving into Jake and hugging him back, âHurt her and itâs your funeral I am planning.âÂ
Jake chuckled, slapping his best friend on the back, âNo problem there buddy.âÂ
Jay pushed Jake away, âOkay, letâs all go back to bed. I am sure we already disturbed my parents enough.âÂ
You let out a yawn, exhaustion sweeping over you.Â
Heeseung and Sunghoon walked towards the spare room and you up the stairs, Jake following behind you.Â
âUhhh nah,â Jay snapped his fingers, pushing Jake towards the spare room, âYou ainât going back up there.âÂ
âCome on dude.â Jake groaned.Â
âNo, Iâm sleeping in front of her door.â Jay pointed at the two others, âMake sure he doesnât leave the room.ââ
You rolled your eyes and continued up the stairs, âYou all are really actually annoying.âÂ
â
You sat at the kitchen table, peeling the potatoes for tonight's dinner, watching as the four boys and your dad stood outside in the cold grilling the meats.Â
Your mom stood behind you at the island, tossing the salad. Her careful eyes studied you, âWant to talk about it, my sweet daughter?â
You turned and faced her, âTalk about what?âÂ
She gives you a soft smile, âAbout the reason your brother was screaming last night.âÂ
You sighed, turning back around to continue peeling the potatoes, âYou and dad heard everything?âÂ
Your mother sat down beside you, taking the peeler and potato out of your hands, forcing you to face her.Â
âHoney, your brother is a very vocal person when heâs upset. It scared us half to death.âÂ
She held your hands, her thumbs circling your palms, âWhy didnât you come and stop the fight?âÂ
She sighs, looking outside at your father, âWe wanted to, but your father said it was best for you guys to handle it. It was a matter we couldnât step into.âÂ
You understood that, everyone here is grown adults, your parents stepping in probably more than likely wouldnât have helped anyway.Â
You followed your mother's gaze outside, watching as your brother flipped over the steak with dad right beside him. Jake sorted the raw meat into separate plates, handing them off to Jay to be grilled while Heeseung and Sunghoon helped cut the cooked meat into pieces.Â
Your eyes lingered on Jake, watching as he said something to Jay, your brother smiling wide and shoving Jake. That made you happy at least, knowing that your betrayal didnât completely shatter their friendship.Â
âY/N, you love him, donât you sweetheart?âÂ
You nodded, the tears swelling up in your eyes, âMomma I love him so much. But the fact Jay caught us the way he did is eating me alive. The last thing I wanted to do was see that betrayal and hurt in my brother's eyes.âÂ
âY/N, can I tell you a little story?âÂ
You nodded, looking back at her. She wiped the tears off your face and squeezed your hand, âYou want to know why your brother started that rule in the first place?âÂ
You nodded again.Â
âIt was Jongseongâs tenth birthday party, and Jaeyun just returned from visiting Australia, you remember that?âÂ
You slightly nodded, trying to recall the memory. Jake would disappear to the land of kangaroos at least once or twice a year growing up. Narrowing down specifically when this is in this situation would be hard to pinpoint.Â
âWell, Jaeyun brought back gifts, not just for you know, your brother, Heeseung and Sunghoon, but one for you.âÂ
The memory completely came back to you. Jake brought you back a small keychain with a baby joey and your name on it. You had that keychain on your school backpack for a couple of years until you lost it.Â
âI remember, Jay was irritated with me that day and I couldnât figure out why, I was only nine.â
Your mother nodded, âIt was the first, and last time may I add, that Jaeyun ever brought you back a gift.â she softly laughed at the memory, âLittle Jaeyun handed your brother his birthday gift and souvenir, giving Heeseung and Sunghoon theirs, then he rushed away from the picnic table looking for you. That little keychain was in his hands until it was placed into your hands. Oh, was your brother upset.âÂ
âSo he was jealous that I also got a gift?â You raised your brow, glancing back outside at your brother, jealousy was never something he had or even showed.Â
âThatâs what we thought it was at first, just Jongseong being jealous that his baby sister also got a gift on his birthday. Your dad tried calming him down for a good twenty minutes.âÂ
Jay and Jake started to play fighting outside, running further into the yard as your dad just laughed and took a sip of his beer bottle.Â
âAfter your dad got him calmed down, we were finally able to talk to him about why it upset him, and you know what he said?âÂ
You looked back at your mom, waiting for the answer.Â
âThat you were too young for a boyfriend,â you rolled your eyes, of course he said that. Even as a child at the age of ten, he wanted you nowhere near other boys, âWe had to explain to him that just because Jaeyun brought you back a gift, didnât mean he likes you. But your brother wasnât having any of it, kept saying over and over that the look Jaeyun gave you said otherwise. Then he told your father no one would be good enough for his little sister, that you were a prize that could never be won. So he came up with his rules. His friends were told you were now off limits, specifically to Jaeyun. And then he told you no boys.âÂ
Your heart melted, knowing that Jayâs rules were always just a way to protect you, that he held you on such a high pedestal to the point no male would ever be good enough for you in his eyes. That you did indeed deserve so much.Â
âObviously, your brother didnât want you dating his friends, it would have been weird, mostly with how close the five of you were growing up. But your father and I figured he would have eventually let it go.âÂ
You shrugged, making eye contact with Jay, he gave you a small smile before returning back to the grill after his play fight with Jake, âBut you know, mom, I am grateful for his rules. He has helped me get out of so many terrible relationships and helped me see my worth.âÂ
Your mom pulled you into a hug, âHe loves you so much. You two are truly blessed to have each other as siblings.âÂ
You agreed, no one will ever compare to your brother.Â
Your mom pulled back, rubbing your shoulders before standing up and going back to the island, âI always secretly wanted you to get with one of them.âÂ
âMother!â you snapped, âHuh?!â
âWhat?â She smiled, âHeeseung, Jake, and Sunghoon have always been good kids. I practically raised them! If any boy would be good enough for my daughter it would be one of them. Just funny how the person who created the whole reason the rules came into place is the same one who took your heart.âÂ
You had to admit, it was funny. No wonder Jay literally lost his bonkers last night, questioning you on why Jake.Â
âTreat him well, Y/N. And give your brother some time to get over it. Heâs strong, and he will get over it. Donât beat yourself up or let it affect your relationship with Jake.âÂ
Your mother was right. But you still canât help but feel a bit guilty. Jay deserved the truth from the beginning.Â
â
The rest of the week went by in a flash. And turns out you really had nothing to worry about with Jake and Jay.Â
The two boys moved on like it didnât happen, that their friendship was never on the line to begin with.Â
Jay even was being his normal self to you.Â
Dinner last night Jake sat beside you and even put his arm around you, and Jay didnât even bat an eye.Â
It feltâŠdifferent. You and Jake went from secretly hiding around to holding hands, hugging you any moment he could, and werenât afraid to sit close to you. The only thing he secretly did was when he wanted to kiss you. Which you understood.Â
Jake still snuck into your room as well. That didnât change. But the final night at the house, Jay straight up told him to spend any final moments with you.Â
Unfortunately, the night went by too quickly. You woke up in Jakeâs arms, the only thing that could be heard was the sounds of his soft breathing and his heartbeat in your ear.Â
Jayâs alarms went off in his room, then the sound of his feet shuffling against the floor. You knew it was time to get up.Â
You got Jake up, sending him downstairs to pack and get ready.Â
Time was flying too fast, and soon enough your parents stood on the front porch, hugging each of you goodbye.Â
âPlease come back home soon!â Your mother whined, tears staining her face, âI miss you both already!â She pulled you and Jay into a hug.Â
You fought back your tears, and you could tell your brother was too.Â
Your parents hugged the other boys as well, telling them to not be strangers and stop by anytime they come home or to even come back when Jay does.Â
But then the moment you wanted to shove away came, saying goodbye to Jake.Â
You hugged Heeseung, âKeep in touch kiddo!â he said with a pat on your head, âStay out of trouble.âÂ
âI think youâre the one who needs to stay out of trouble, Hee.â You pinched his arm, then moved on to Sunghoon, âYou too! I heard all about your party shenanigans!âÂ
Sunghoon playfully shoved you, âAs if!â and then pulled you into a hug.Â
Jay was next.Â
âC'mere stinks.â Jay pulled you into a tight hug, âThank you for agreeing to spend the rest of your time with us.âÂ
You nodded against his shoulder, âIâm so glad you convinced me.âÂ
Jay gave you one last tight squeeze before releasing you, âLove ya, please stay safe and talk often, ya?âÂ
âOf course.âÂ
He gave you one last smile, before his eyes lifted over behind you, âAnd keep him in check, ya? I canât do it on my own.â
You turned behind you just in time to see Jake roll his eyes, âDude, I keep myself in check.âÂ
You patted his arm, âSure you do babe, itâs okay.â
Everyone had their laughs except for Jake who rolled his eyes once again. âI hate you all.âÂ
âWhatever, go say your goodbyes so we can leave,â Jay said, shooing you away.Â
Jake followed you to your car, his hands settling on your waist as he pulled your body to his, leaving no space in between. âIâm not ready to leave you yet.âÂ
âI donât want to leave you either, Jake.âÂ
He really wasnât ready to leave you yet, wasnât ready to be apart, âWhy did you choose a college so far away?âÂ
You gigged, âBecause at the time itâs where I wanted to be.âÂ
âTransfer. Come be with me.âÂ
You smiled at him, cupping his face, âIâll think about it.âÂ
Jake shook his head, sticking his tongue out at you, âDonât tease me.âÂ
You touched his forehead to yours, âIâll miss you, so much.âÂ
Oh, now Jake wanted to cry, âGod knows how badly Iâll miss you too.âÂ
He pulled you even closer, lips connecting to yours.Â
Jake kissed you like you were about to disappear from his grasp. Like the universe was going to rip you away from him.Â
Your cherry chapstick filled his senses and made his head spin, oh the things heâd do and the crimes heâd commit to always get a taste of your lips.Â
âHey!!â Jay shouted from his car, his head hanging out the driver's side window, Heeseung and Sunghoon also peeking out their windows, âYou gonna keep making out with my little sister or we gonna hit the road? Sheâs got a longer drive than us!âÂ
Jake laughed against your lips, head turning to his friend, âIf youâre going to give me a choice thenâŠâÂ
âHurry up!â Jay snapped with a laugh.Â
âGo,â you said, âYouâll see me soon.âÂ
Jake placed one final kiss on your lips, pulling away as he walked backward towards Jayâs car.Â
âI love you!â Jake shouted freely, finally happy to say those three words heâd been holding back.Â
âI love you too!!â You shouted back.Â
âCall me when youâre back in your dorm!âÂ
You nodded, climbing into your car. Jake got into the back of Jayâs car, letting out a sigh.Â
âMissing your girlfriend already?â Heeseung teased.Â
âMan,â Jake shook his head, âShut up.âÂ
Jay took off down the street, slouching down into the seat, âDonât worry, man.âÂ
Jake slung his head back onto the seat, staring out the window, âHow can I not?âÂ
Jay looked into the rearview mirror, âI already have a plan to convince her to transfer.â Jake smiled, âIf I can convince her to come home for two weeks, I can convince her to transfer. Itâs already in motion.âÂ
Jake sat up, slapping his friend on the shoulder, âMy man!âÂ
Jay knew he had to get used to seeing Jake with you, and he already could imagine the pain you both would feel being apart. Plus, having you around more often wouldnât be a bad idea. It would be just like when you were all kids.Â
Jake sat back down in the seat, his smile never fading with thoughts of you.

JIN PANICKING IN 3...2...1...
HELLO ??? ARE YOU STILL THERE ??
NARRATION â READER'S POV
It was as if she couldn't sit still that whole afternoon after Sunghoon asked her out for coffee. It was slowly but surely sinking in that Park Sunghoon himself asked her out to have coffee.
Given, that he didnât specify what it was for, but who was she to say no to such an offer? Especially after what she saw and how he treated her when she got whacked in the head by the door on the way to the student council room.
It was at that moment that she realized that among that group of people she thought she despised, there were kind souls.Â
It was no wonder that Sunghoon won the hearts of the majority of the student body and why he was the president of the student council.
He was just really, well, for the lack of a better word â nice.Â
And sheâd be lying if she said she didnât find him attractive.Â
Unlike that Jungwon guy.Â
But if she were to be truly honest with herself, ever since the small moment they shared back in the janitorâs closet, safe to say, heâs been haunting her. For the past 3 nights, her dreams would always consist of Jungwon making a cameo, one way or another.Â
And she was almost sure that she caught him staring at her in class the Monday after that fateful weekend.Â
But why? The whole school knows that Jungwon has been actively pursuing Sooyoung since time immemorial, and has been relentless about it. Perhaps thatâs what gave Sooyoung that extra edge among all the other girls in school. To think that the most eligible bachelor in the whole university has set his eyes on you, must be nice.Â
The familiar ding in her phone makes its presence known and pulls her out of her deep thoughts, and it sends Jinae to rush out of the room, knowing that someone is waiting downstairs in front of her dormâs building.Â
Greeted by the sight of a red, shiny Mercedes-Benz C-class, she tries her hardest not to let her jaw drop to the floor at the sight of it all.
There was Sunghoon, leaning against the hood of his vehicle, phone in hand, silver specs decorating his prominent features, eyebrows thick and furrowed together as he was evidently busy reading something on his phone.Â
Upon approaching him, the male looks up at her just in time as if he sensed her presence, features softening at the sight of her. âHey,â He greets, baring his canine teeth. Wow, it's like he's an actual vampire. âYou made it.â
God, should I ask him to bite me?
Shaking off her rather unwanted thoughts, she finally musters out a greeting back, âHi, sorry, did I take too long?âÂ
Vehemently shaking his head, Sunghoon walks over to the passenger seat and gestures for her to get in, âNope, not at all! Thanks for making time for me today.âÂ
--
The car ride was silent at first, but not to the point that it was unbearable. Jinae wanted to initiate the conversation but admittedly didnât know how. They were in the middle of the road, stuck in the middle of rush hour traffic, with Sunghoon giving her the chance to play whatever song she wanted after handing her his phone.Â
âSo,â Finally, Sunghoon broke the silence, âYouâre probably wondering why I asked you out huh?âÂ
âYeah, I guess you could say that.â She replies, rubbing the back of her head, âUm, but it's not that Iâm complaining! Iâm just.. It was so sudden.âÂ
He breaks out into a small laugh, his fangs coming into view again and she couldnât deny the fact that it made her heart skip a beat. After all, even though theyâd had limited interactions up until that point, only going as far as a nod or a smile here and there whenever her adviser would ask her to drop off paperwork at the student council office, she never saw Sunghoon smile.Â
His aura does a 180 when he smiles, so handsome.
âI know, sorry about that. Actually, I've been wanting to befriend you for so long.â Frank as can be, he wastes no time in getting straight to his point. âI guess you can say, I just really never knew how to approach you.âÂ
And there goes the thumping in her chest again, âOh,â She timidly replies, nodding her head. âI see! Actually, apart from two people, I really don't have many friends at school, so, why not! You seem very⊠nice.â Jinae adds with cheeks dusted a light pink.Â
âNice? Hah, thank you. And Iâm happy. Though I must say, Iâm surprised, I thought you'd have a ton of friends. You're a dancer, you're smart... Popular with people, from what I heard all around school. What's not to like?â He continues on with his frank remarks.Â
âEh? I think not...âÂ
âMaybe theyâre just intimidated by you.â Sunghoon cuts in, âI know I was.âÂ
âHuh? Why? Is my face that scary?â The female asks, placing her hands over her cheeks.Â
A throaty laugh is heard from Sunghoonâs end, âNah, it's not like that, it's like â how do I explain this. Your aura? Maybe. Like, you're unreachable, or something.âÂ
Jinae couldnât help but laugh, followed by a light slap on the chest, a clear indication that she was comfortable with someone, âHey! No! Oh my god. I guess I just wanted to keep a low profile in school? I get attached to people so quickly too so, I try not to forge too many friendships. It's scary to me.âÂ
She didnât know what came over her, and why it felt so easy to be comfortable enough with Sunghoon for her to divulge such information.Â
He nods solemnly, âI understand,â His voice trails off, as he casts a glance over at her. Their eyes met and Jinae could feel some kind of stirring from her insides, âPlease don't worry though, my intentions with you are pure. I promise.âÂ
âI will hold you to that.â Was all she could say, trying to fight the fluttering feelings from within.

NARRATION â READER'S POV
Suffice it to say, the next day was quite literally the worst in Jinae's young life. For one, she forgot her readings at home, so she wasn't able to participate much during class.
Two, she tripped up the stairs, which caused her to spill her sea salt latte, wasting her hard-earned money.Â
Three, and probably the worst of them all, she got laid off from her job as a 7-Eleven clerk that morning via text.Â
Groaning in frustration, she found herself lying on the floor of Jakeâs apartment unit, staring up at the ceiling while her two best friends stared at her with saddened expressions.Â
âGirl, okay, enough, stop moping around!â Sunoo finally exclaims, "That might've been a good thing! You've been late for our 10am class for the past weeks. Besides, you have another job anyway, right? In our school's admin office?"
Laying on her side and not minding the fact that she was literally laying on a hardwood floor, âThat's not enough for my everyday expenses, Sun.â She whines out, pushing her lower lip out, busying herself by giving Jake's dog Layla a few pats on the head, "And I don't want to burden my parents for any of my expenses." Â
âBabygirl,â Jake's soft tone makes itself known, walking over to her and crouching down on the floor to rub her back, âYouâll find something else to do, I swear. But for now, Sunoo and I are here to help you.. with anything. Even your finances.âÂ
âTrue.. OMG! What ifâ you just find yourself a sugar daddy!?â Sunoo suggests, eyes bright as he does, as if that was the most groundbreaking idea ever.Â
She reaches for the throw pillow on the floor and chucks it over Sunooâs way, which he dodges in time with a laugh, âShut up, I'd rather go around and pick up trash along the highway than find myself a sugar daddy, please!âÂ
âWhatâs so wrong about a sugar daddy? Itâs easy money.â Jake interjects.Â
Sunoo quickly responds, âYou say that just because you have a sugar daddy yourself, in the form of Mister Lee Heeseung!âÂ
âHey! Heâs not my sugar daddy!â The older male between the two scowls. âWeâre just having fun.â
âEnough, you two! My head already hurts as it is, you guys aren't helping me.âÂ
âOk then let's be serious, didn't Sunghoon ask you out? Just go date him for real! You'll never know, you might take over their family business when you marry into their family. They're super rich anyways.âÂ
All Jinae could do was frown, âThat's nothing! Besides, we're just friends, please.âÂ
The two males exchanged knowing glances at each other at their best friendâs denial. âSure sure. Whatever you say.â The younger spoke, crossing his legs and resting back on the couch, leaving Jinae alone with her thoughts.
REHEARSALS TIME
đđđ HMM WHAT HAPPPENED?

NARRATION â SUNGHOON'S POV
Sitting around their hideout, the four boys decided to have a rather chill night. Being a part of such a social circle, theyâre always asked to attend house parties and parties in general, left and right. But tonight, they decided they were just going to put on some vibey music and sit around the lounge area of the Rangers hideout, drinking and smoking as one does at their age.Â
Their topic of conversation for the past two hours has mostly been about schoolwork, and complaining about the workload.Â
Following that, there was a 10-minute silence that enveloped the four men, with them just catching up on messages on their phones, scrolling through social media, and taking a sip from their beer cans.Â
That was, until, Jungwon broke the silence.Â
âWhat do you guys know about Park Jinae?â He asked, eyes still glued to the phone he had in his hand.Â
Unbeknownst to him, Sunghoon tensed up beside him.Â
âOh, Jinae?â Heeseungâs right eyebrow raised, âWell, I do know sheâs Jakeâs best friend. Isnât she pretty popular? I sometimes see her coming to school on a motorbike.âÂ
âAll the boys in my class talk about her. Why do you think so many guys show up to events where the dance club performs?â Ni-ki affirmed, resting back on the couch behind him, both elbows resting on the backrest.Â
âSheâs an enigma, isnât she?â So far, it was a dialogue between the oldest and the youngest in the group, with Jungwon and Sunghoon keeping quiet for now, âActually, now that Iâm thinking about it, no one knows anything about her. Not that itâs a bad thing, but you know. Anyway, why are you asking? Are you really planning to ask her to pretend to be your girlfriend to make Sooyoung jealous?â Heeseung squints at the younger Jungwon as he asks this.Â
âI mean yes, but not just that. I just - she seems interesting. You know she almost swung at me at dance practice today, because I called her out for being late.â Instead of being annoyed about it, Jungwon could only grin, âIt was pretty cool.âÂ
âShe swung at you?! HAHAHA how funny is that?!â Ni-ki bursts out into a big fit of laughter, placing his hand on his stomach, soon followed by Heeseung.Â
One corner of Sunghoonâs lips twitched upwards into a grin trying to imagine her throwing a punch at Jungwon.Â
âWhat about you, Sunghoon hyung? Do you know anything about her?â Jungwonâs curiosity was piqued by his silence. Given, heâs always been the quiet one among the four, call it intuition, but the younger did sense a kind of tense vibe from the other.Â
âHmmm? Well..â Crossing his legs over one another and resting back on the couch, he hummed, âSheâs cool, at least from what Iâve noticed. Very easy to talk to, too. Sheâs... beautiful, yeah.â He couldnât help but smile at the thought of the girl, swirling the contents of the beer can in his hand.Â
That didn't go unnoticed, the way his eyes lit up. But the younger decided not to say anything about it for now, âI see.â Jungwon timidly responded, stroking his chin in the process.Â
It was like Sunghoon could hear the cogwheels turning in Jungwonâs head in response, âBe careful with your decisions, Jungwon. Weâre not here to police you or anything, feel like youâve had your fair share of that in your life, but, all Iâm saying is, make sure that whatever youâre planning, no one gets hurt.â He tried his hardest not to sound as if he was scolding him.Â
But at this moment, he found himself worrying about Jinae, too.

oh to be with sunghoon <3
// park sunghoon //
pairing: best friendâs brother!sunghoon x femreader
word count- 8.7k
genre/cw- fluff, angst, forbidden love(?), slow burn(ish), 1 year age difference, realization of feelings, reader fell first but sunghoon fell harder, first kiss, kissing, confessions, profanity, reader gets hurt (not severely)
summary- Sunghoon falling for his sisterâs best friend was not on his bucket list
________________________________________________________
You hated (loved) your best friendâs older brother Park Sunghoon, not because of his actual being but rather because of his stupid bucket list that he made when he was six years old that heâs nonstop flaunted for years on end.
He never seemed to shut up about completing his bucket list for as long as youâve known him and been best friends with his younger sister. You were starting to get tired of hearing his rambles about it, youâve considered burning it to ashes but you knew you would never be forgiven so that option was ruled out.
So now you were stuck listening to his stories of his completion on whatever number he was at on his bucket list. You donât know how many times youâve listend to his stories over the little timespan of winter break up until new years eve.
What you do know is that you were going to be in for another rough year.
You met your best friend at a very young age but even at that age you knew the both of you would be best friends for the rest of your lives.
You werenât wrong, many years passed and you both were still as close as ever. But when you were younger, you didnât realize your best friend came with a package, in the form of her older brother Park Sunghoon.
When you first met Sunghoon, your heart swelled. He hated wearing his glasses especially in front of people but you absolutely adored the way he looked in them.
You found yourself admiring Sunghoon whenever you could, whether it was when he tagged along with you and his sister or simply greeting him whenever you came over to their house.
For a good two and a half years you thought your admiration for Sunghoon was a case of one-sided true love. You didnât know any better but to you that was the best form of love, it meant you were able to admire him.
But no matter how long he has known you, Sunghoon never looked at you in any other way other than his younger sisterâs best friend and thats how heâs always seen you as, even up until this day.
âSunghoon stop boring her with your story on how you went rock climbing in the snowâ Your best friend came to your rescue when she realized you were taking a while to return back to her room only to find out you were caught up by her older brother
âMy saviorâ You muttered before getting up from the chair and dusting your clothes off acting like youâve there for decades
âOh come on it wasnât that bad, she was actually asking me questions about how it wentâ Sunghoon tried to defend himself from the claim his sister put on him
Your best friend looked at you and you shook your head, you heard Sunghoon gasp, noticing you were lying. He called you out on it but you acted oblivious.
You were asking him questions just like how you always do but thatâs something you would never admit. For some reason a part of you still lingered around the thought of Sunghoon that was suppressed deep in your heart and mind.
You would indulge in those desires only a few times, you just wanted to satisfy the craving you longed for.
âWell if you donât mind me, Iâm going to save my best friend from youâ His sister began to drag you away back to her room, you turned to face Sunghoonâs bewildered expression
You softly giggled to yourself which somehow went unnoticed by your best friend but not Sunghoon. He glared at you and you only stuck you tongue out in a childish manner. It was a habit you picked up whenever you walked away victorious in not getting caught of indulging your desires.
You knew Sunghoon would be back with more stories about his bucket list and as much as you couldnât take to hear him always talk about it, you somehow found comfort in listening to his stories.
âSunghoonâs forcing me to go ice skating with himâ Your best friend groan shaking her head, you winced hearing she fell victim to her brotherâs wish list
âGood luck dealing with him, I know you wonât be returning until midnightâ Your words caused her to groan even louder, she was praying endless nothings into the universe that could get her out of going with her brother
And it seemed the universe heard your best friendâs prayer because she called you that very morning she had to go out with her brother to celebrate that she was sick.
But that celebration didnât last long because a few hours after, you got a simple message from her deeply apologizing for what she has done.
Before you could even register what she was saying, you heard your doorbell. You were confused, you werenât expecting anyone today.
When you opened your front door, you immediately shut the door but a hand pushed against it to stop your efforts in closing the door.
Now you understood why your best friend apologized. Park Sunghoon stood in front of your door, holding his own pair of ice skates.
âGo get readyâ Sunghoon walked into your house as if he lived there and plopped himself onto your couch, your parents happily greeted him to which he returned
You stared outside seemingly dumbfounded. Your best friend had thrown you under the bus and made you replace her in Sunghoonâs billionth check mark on his bucket list.
You swore to make her pay.
Sunghoon was a good driver so you expected him to be a good host too. If he went through all the trouble of picking you up, waiting for you to just drive over an hour and a half just to have you both skate at the famous ice rink within the area, you expected some type of entertainment to kill the time.
Yet, the car was filled with an awkward silence. No music playing and the only form of sound was the two of youâs breathing and of passing cars. You made sure to send your best friend some âfriendlyâ messages for doing this to you.
You sighed as you looked out the window. You pressed your head up the window and it left out a âthudâ but you didnât care anymore, you hope it showed Sunghoon your boredom.
âYou can play some musicâ His voice spoke out and you lifted your head to look at him, it may not have been much but it felt like millions
You immediately turned on his radio and you flipped through the channels. After countless times of scrolling, you didnât find a single radio station that would be enjoyable for the two of you.
You gave up and turned off his radio before slumping back into the passenger seat. You just expected to lose your mind today.
âYou can connect to the bluetoothâ You felt a spark of hope at the alternative Sunghoon allowed
You grabbed your phone and immediately connected to the bluetooth. When you heard the first song on your playlist, you hummed happily and fell back onto the seat. You were satisfied to hear one of your favorite songs playing through the speakers.
When the next song played, you recognize the melody right away, it was The Weekndâs song âDie For Youâ. You started to softly hum the songâs melody and drop a few of lyrics in the mix of the humming.
You looked out the window again, much more satisfied now that music was playing. You stopped humming when the chorus was coming wanting to submerged yourself into it.
But when you heard Sunghoonâs mumbling and singing some of the lyrics, you turned your head to see Sunghoon lightly tapping the steering wheel to follow the beat of the song. You didnât expect him to know a song like this, you would always heard him listening to much softer and mellower songs, so this definitely caught you by surprise.
You found yourself admiring him again and it was so hard to peel your gaze away from him and back out the window as you let out a nervous gulp. You were too focused on being forced to complete one of Sunghoonâs checkmarks on his bucket list that you didnât realize, this would be one of the few times you spent time with Sunghoon alone.
You didnât realize what you had gotten yourself into and your best friend most certainly didnât know what she has done.
âNo Sunghoon, youâre insaneâ You arrived at the hour and a half ice skating rink and you could tell why it was so famous, it was huge and had all kinds of activities for all people to join
And this obviously caught the eye of the ice skater within Sunghoon. He wanted to drag you into a competition where the top three places are able to receive exclusive top gifts. You on the hand scoffed, you couldnât believe Sunghoon actually thought you would join him in this.
Now you may have went against your word, you wondered just how he was able to convince you to join. But now you stood on the ice next to Sunghoon next to other participants, you could feel yourself slipping at times but you managed to catch yourself before tumbling straight to the ice.
This was going to be a long day.
You and Sunghoonâs team were one of the last two surviving. The last activity in order to determine who will win first place would be a race, one person would have skate to the midpoint where their partners will be waiting for them to be given the the baton and end the race.
Obviously, Sunghoon would be the one to skate to the midpoint leaving you to finish and win the race, there was definitely no pressure on you at all.
When the whistle blew, the first skaters were off. You watched as Sunghoon skated ever so effortlessly on the ice. You remember when you first watched Sunghoon on the ice and youâre proud of how far heâs come.
âYour boyfriend is goodâ The boy next to you spoke as he watched Sunghoon skating
âOh heâs not my boyfriendâ This made him raise an eyebrow at you before giving a side smile
âOh really? Then maybe we can go out sometimeâ The boy offered but you gave a kind smile and explained how you werenât from the area, he was disappointed but understood
Sunghoon was in the lead as he gave you the baton for you to finish off the race. When you made contact with the baton, you tried your best to skate off. You managed to put some distant between you and the boy until he called from behind, you looked over your shoulder and he waved at you.
You move your attention back to in front of you and you saw the finish line so close to you. You managed to to be in the lead and you were happy, you could catch in the corner of your eye Sunghoon softly cheering for you.
You smiled and just when you were going to past the finish line, a body crashed into you causing you to fall onto the ice head first. You heard gasp around you and you really couldnât open your eyes with the sudden throbbing pain with the impact.
Suddenly, you eyes focused on the one person it seemed to recognize. Sunghoonâs worried face met with yours and you could see how his eyes carefully examined you, when he touched the spot you hit your head, you winced in pain. He muttered out a soft apology and right when he was going to help you up, that was when you the saw the boy you were racing, skating towards you with a worried look on his face.
âOh my god I am so sorry, I lost my balance and I ran into you. Are you okay?â He offered his hand for you to grab and when you were going to reach out to grab him, Sunghoon smacked the boyâs hand away
You could almost catch the glare Sunghoon gave him before helping you sit up on the ice. He patted some of the ice away as he checked your head again, he held your head into his hands softly as he looked around your head to make sure you werenât hurt anywhere else.
Beside your throbbing head, you could feel your heart beating against your chest. The worried look in his eyes made those suppressed lingering feelings to awaken just for a moment before becoming overturned by the pain on your head.
Some way to spend a day out with Sunghoon.
You sat on the bench outside of the arena. You held an ice pack against where you got hit on your head, a big first place trophy next to you as you held a bag filled with first, second and third place gifts.
After the whole accident went down, First and Third place gave their gifts to you and Sunghoon as a form of comfort for the bad bruise forming on your head. Sunghoon decided that was enough for today and told you to sit on the bench while he pulled up the car for you so that you wouldnât have to walk a long distance.
When his car pulled up in front, you were going to grab the gifts and trophy to give your head a break from all the icing you were doing, but Sunghoon was quick to grabbed the gifts and trophy and offer his elbow for you to hold onto.
You could walk perfectly fine but you still took his offer and softly wrapped your hand onto his elbow as he helped you to the car. You decided to indulge into your feelings just for this moment, you did just get flung to the ice you think you deserve it.
Sunghoon opened the passenger door with the hand that held the gifts and helped you inside and made sure you were comfortable. Once you gave the all clear, he opened the back seat and placed the items there before going to the driverâs side.
âAre you actually okay? I can take you to the hospitalâ You could feel your heart fluttering hearing Sunghoon worry about you, this was not helping you suppress your feelings
âIâm fine Sunghoon, donât worryâ You gave a soft smile and he looked at you for a few more seconds before looking away
He drove off from the ice skating rink, he doesnât know how he would even explain to his sister of the big bruise on your head. He knew she would be furious with him but he was more furious with himself for allowing you to get hurt while he was with you.
He knew the two of you didnât hang out a lot solo, so he hoped that this may have changed that between the two of you. Sunghoon had always seen you as his younger sisterâs best friend and he wonât deny that he always wanted to know more about you but he never found a good way to approach you.
Thatâs why he opted out for using his bucket list to create some type of conversation with you even if you dreaded listening to it. He was more than happy to know you actually listen to him and ask questions about them, but he always feels defeated whenever you deny of ever doing such things whenever anyone else mainly his sister is around.
It wasnât wrong for you and Sunghoon to engross yourselves in a curious conversation, so why did it always feel that way?
When he saw no surrounding cars, he took a glance over to you. He could heard a soft melody playing through the speaker from your playlist, it was able to set the mood really nicely. The sun was setting casting a beautiful orange and pink color in the sky, the peaceful driving.
Sunghoon couldnât seem to take his eye off of you, the setting was set too perfectly that he felt a sudden tingle against his chest.
âSunghoon red lightâ You pointed out and he was quick to softly step on the break to halt the car, you werenât even looking forward so how did you notice he wasnât look at the street but instead at you.
You continued to look out the window, holding the ice against your head, trying to calm down the nervous fluttering in your heart knowing Sunghoon had almost ran a red light because he was looking over at you.
Maybe this wasnât as bad as you thought.
Your best friend gasped when seeing the healing bruise on your head, you went over to her house once she was feeling a little bit better. She still couldnât go out so you decided to go over to her.
âIt looks like itâs healing wellâ Your grimaced at her words before waving her off, it definitely looked better than how it felt
âDo you have an ice pack I can borrow?â Your best friend nodded her head, you made your way to the kitchen to grab to ice pack from the freeze
When you pressed the cold pack against your bruise, you sighed in relief. You closed your eyes just for a minute but opened them when you felt your phone vibrate, when you took it out with your free hand, you felt your self smile.
Sunghoon: Youâre over? You should be resting
You and him and had nonstop been texting ever since the day you went ice skating (which was only two days ago) but to you, it still meant a lot. This was the longest time you and Sunghoon have ever texted each other, maybe he was finally warming up to you.
You: Howâd you know I was over? Plus I was too bored at home
Sunghoon: I could hear you and my sister laughing like maniacs
You: Oh we were not laughing that loud
You: And if you knew I was over, how come you havenât greeted me?
You didnât think before sending that message, when you noticed that Sunghoon hadnât responded, your thumbs danced around your keyboard to try and make another text that makes the previous one sound less embarrassing.
You were internally freaking out and you paced around the kitchen, forgetting about the ice pack on the counter. When you had your back faced away, you didnât realize Sunghoon walking into the kitchen and seeing your pacing figure.
He noticed the ice pack on the counter and carefully picked it up, when you turned around you were immediately met with the coldness of the ice pack. You slightly jumped at the unexpected contact and that was when you saw Sunghoon standing in all his glory, his hand holding the ice pack that just touched your head.
You looked at him and he gave an awkward smile which you never minded to see. He placed the ice pack back on your bruise and ushered for you to hold onto it yourself, when you hand barley held the ice pack he let go.
âWhat are you doing?â You donât know why that was the first thing you said, but it just slipped, you saw Sunghoon awkwardly chuckle before rubbing the back of his nape
âI came to greet youâ Your heart felt like it was on fire, you knew you were trouble from this point moving forward
Itâs been two weeks since the day Sunghoon took you ice skating, and the texting between you two never faltered. You two texted from early morning to late at night only to repeat it again for the past two weeks.
You could say that you felt so happy when Sunghoon showed no signs of wanting to stop texting you. The two of you seemed to learn a lot more about each other through texting and you could tell it transferred over to in person too.
He was more open when it came to talking to you in person, and he never failed to greet you when you were over. You definitely could tell that ice skating day out was what you needed in order to flip you and Sunghoonâs platonic ârelationshipâ for the better.
âSunghoon is offering you to take you outâ You choked on your drink after hearing your best friendâs words, she patted your back to give some relief as you coughed loudly
âHeâs what?â Suddenly rapid footsteps were heard and in came a rushing Sunghoon and worriedly looked around
âWhat happened?â You let out another cough and he worriedly looked at you wanting to see if you were okay but his sister waved him off
âI just told her about your offer on taking her out after letting that bruise form on her headâ You felt conflicted, you wanted to see if Sunghoon was really offering to take you out but you also wanted to shut your best friend up from mentioning the bruise
You knew Sunghoon already felt bad, so you didnât want him to feel worse for the healing bruise. It was getting better, it was just taking some time to fully go away.
âI was going to be the one to mention it to her but okayâ Your best friend only rolled her eyes at her brother before wrapping an arm on your shoulder
âI say waste all his money when you guys go out and buy me something niceâ
âWho says I was going to use his money?â You raised an eyebrow at her, if this outing hypothetically happens, you would make sure to bring your own money
âOh well I was offering it to you to spend it on whatever you wantâ You slowly turned your head to Sunghoon with utter shock, as long as youâve known him, he was always picky with how he used and wasted him money so to hear him allowing you spend his money on whatever you want sent you to the moon and back
âOh no itâs fine! I can pay for myselfâ
âNo please I insistâ
âYou idiot take the offer!â Your best friend widen her eyes at you for even thinking about rejecting the offer when clearly she knew the both of you knew how picky her brother was
You closed your eyes and deeply sighed before nodding your head in defeat, you best friend cheered while Sunghoon brightly smiled. It was a smile you saw only a few times and you forgot how it made you feel.
Your best friend ushered for you and Sunghoon to do the outing the same very day. Before you left, she made sure to send you a list of everything she wanted so that you could try and sneak in and say that itâs something you wanted instead of her.
You and Sunghoon sat in his car as he drove. He allowed you to have control over the music, so your playlist played as background music instead of blasting like last time you were here. The awkward tension was no longer there between you two as the you both talked the whole way to the outlets.
You and Sunghoon enjoyed the time you spent in his car. It wasnât something that he was used to experiencing with you so heâs thankful that you both got closer instead of drifting even further away from each other.
When you arrived at the outlets, you didnât realize how time consuming it was. You spent majority of the day at the outlets, you refrained from spending so much of Sunghoonâs money. You opted to spend only two dollars from his money, and you would buy a thing or two for your best friend with your own money.
Sunghoon noticed and he told you to use his money. He knew you were being cautious and considerate of him but he took you out for a reason, he wanted you to indulge yourself just a little bit.
So, as you looked at clothes, you picked up clothing pieces you thought were interesting and nice. Sunghoon followed you around, offering to hold your clothes but was shut down by you.
He would observe you and saw how you picked clothes that were out of what you usually wear. He looked at how your face would quickly express an emotion of either what the pricing is or what the clothing was. He also noticed how you were looking at clothes that werenât apart of your usual liking.
This wasnât out of the ordinary, of course Sunghoon knew what you like and dislike. He knows your habits whether theyâre good or bad ones. He knows how to read you like an open book to know what youâre feeling.
Sunghoon knows a lot about you but itâs only because youâre his younger sisterâs best friend and now you are a friend to him, no other reason.
It was already night time when you two were returning back. In the end you only spent fifteen dollars of Sunghoonâs money and the rest you secretly paid with your own. You and Sunghoon were laughing in his car as you talked about nonsense, he asked for you to grab a few napkins from his glove compartment.
So when you open his glove compartment you saw the napkins and grabbed a few but when you saw a familiar paper catch your eye, you grabbed it placing the napkins down.
Sunghoon noticed your silence and he looked over at you, when he saw you holding the familiar piece of paper he almost forgot why he had left it there. But when he finally realize what was on that paper, he felt his heart drop.
When Sunghoon reached a red light, he immediately looked at you who still said nothing as you looked at the paper. It was apart of his bucket list but it was incomplete, it stopped after one empty box that waited to be checked marked.
âGet your first kissâ It read, when you looked to Sunghoon he looked petrified and you felt terrible that you read it without his permission
You immediately shoved it back in the glove compartment and handed him the napkins he asked for, you gave a smile and he nervously gulped before grabbing the napkins and drove when the light turned green.
There was a silence but only for a moment until Sunghoon spoke.
âThat was an incomplete bucket list. I first made it when I was entering high school but I forgot it as I got preoccupied with the others and when I found it, I couldnât bear to look at it and threw it in thereâ Sunghoon explained and you listend to every single word, you didnât want to pressure him into answering or even talking about the topic any longer so you were going to change the topic when he stopped you
âYou can ask questions itâs fine, we still have some time to spareâ You gulped, you didnât know if you wanted to ask the only lingering question in your mind
He took a quick glance at you and gave a warming smile, he was showing that it was okay to ask the one question he knew lingered in your mind.
âHave you ever gotten your first kiss?â There an anticipating silence, you could hear Sunghoon sigh
âI was going to lie and say that I have but I canât lie to you so no I havenât had my first kiss yetâ You were astonished, you assumed Sunghoon had already gotten his first kiss, you knew the amount of people that admired him so it was only natural you thought that
âI was too focused on completing the rest of the bucket list that it just never seemed to cross my mind anymore after creating that one check boxâ You nodded your head and shrugged your shoulders
âItâs okay though, no need to feel pressure or embarrassed. Sometimes people just wait for the right person to have their first in everythingâ You reassure him with a smile, Sunghoon looked over to you and he couldnât help but smile when he saw your smile
Sunghoon wondered whoâd be the right person for him to experience his first in everything or to just be his first kiss.
Sunghoon can say none in the least he couldnât sleep. He kept thrashing in his bed, trying to have himself fall asleep but nothing. His mind was running on constant loop with one single wonder.
What if you were his first kiss? He knew he was outrageous to even think about that, you were his sisterâs best friend after all. But no matter how hard he tried to get rid of the idea, it always came back stronger.
Just at the mere thought of you sends him into a spiral of emotions, how could he contain his raging heart for what it now longed for. He wasnât oblivious when it came to these kind of things, he just didnât know when it happened.
He didnât know when he started to fall for you.
He mustâve been going crazy. He, Park Sunghoon, was thinking about you as more than just a friend and most definitely as more than just his younger sisterâs best friend.
He wondered if you already got your first kiss, he even wondered if you felt the same way as him. He groaned into his pillow, not knowing what he was going to do with this now revelation of him falling for you.
You and Sunghoon sat in his car as he took you out for a late night drive to the park. He didnât tell his sister that he was picking you up, it was something he wanted to keep to himself.
After coming to the realization of his feelings towards you a week ago, he wanted to put some distance between the two of you, he wanted to get rid of these feelings as soon as possible. But that failed when he realized he couldnât go a day without talking to you.
So he opted for plan b, risk it all and indulge in his desire to be with you. Was it the best plan b? Definitely not but it had to do.
You looked at Sunghoon confused, you thought it was out of the blue when he asked if you could meet up that night, you found it even stranger when he asked to not tell his sister. You respected his decision and didnât tell her.
You could see him shaking with nervousness and you wondered what made him feel this way. Sunghoonâs body was facing away from you until he put the car in parked to face you comfortably.
You gave him a reassuring smile and you saw his nervous facade drop for a moment as he looked at with with a glint in his eyes. He quickly shook his head and gulped, it was go big or go home.
âI know this is a lot to ask from you and you can completely say no if you want. I will understand a hundred present, your comfortability matters most to meâ
âSunghoon what are you talking about?â
âYou know how we talked about me not having my first kiss?â His voice was soft and you felt your heart thumping against your chest, where was this going to go? you nodded your head
âWell uh I was doing some thinking and umâ Sunghoon nervously played with his fingers, something you had never seen before, you were amused to see him so nervous but you couldnât blame him
You could feel the same nervousness creep into you as you thought of a million ways this situation could go. But you only hope for one outcome.
âI want you to be my first kissâ
And that was when the world stopped. You could hear your heart thumping in your ear as you shifted your gaze onto him. He looked away, embarrassed with the words that came out of his mouth.
âWhy me?â You didnât mean to voice out your thought but you did, Sunghoon couldnât even bear to look at you and groaned into his hands
The way his heart was beating he swore it was going to burst out of his chest. He didnât know if he could handle it any longer, but he wanted to, he needed to. Because he doesnât know how he can function if he doesnât do this.
âBecause I fell for youâ Sunghoon wanted to be straight to point, he didnât want to sugarcoat his feelings, he was going to go big because he couldnât go home without confessing his feelings for you, he would never be able to live with himself
With his words, you almost passed out by how hard your heart was beating. You stared at him dumbfounded, you thought your mind was playing tricks on your. You blinked violently to see if you would wake up at any moment from this dream.
When it slowly sunk in that this wasnât a dream, you looked away. Sunghoon thought that was your answer, that you didnât feel the same way and that you didnât want to do this.
He felt like an idiot for even thinking there couldâve been a chance of you and him.
He was going to drive you back home but before he could even change to drive, the words the fell from your mouth made him to whip his body to face you.
âI fell for you tooâ Now Sunghoon stared at you dumbfounded, did he hear you correctly?
âIâm pretty sure I was the one that fell firstâ
âI tried to get rid of my feelings for you over the course weâve known each other and I was never successful. All I was able to do was suppress them deep into my heart and hope they go awayâ
âObviously they never went away, ever since the day we went the ice skating rink thatâs when I knew I could no longer hide my feelings for you. I started to fall for you again and here I amâ You chuckled not realizing you were rambling on your confession
You were now playing with yours fingers, scared that you may have scared him off with what youâve holding back but when you felt his hand separate yours to stop you from playing with your fingers.
You looked at Sunghoon and your heart melted when you saw the soft smile he had as he played with your finger with his.
âI couldnât sleep because you were constantly on my mind. You stayed there, playing on a loop twenty four hours for seven days a weekâ
âIâm so sorry it took me so long to reach you. Iâm so happy that you never got rid of your feelings for me, I donât know what I wouldâve done if I was too lateâ
âIâll forever be grateful for my sister getting sick that day. Without that day, I wouldâve never realized just how much I was going to fall for youâ
âYou may have fell first but Iâm sure I fell harderâ You chuckled at his words as your hands finally intertwined with each other and they fit like they were made for each other
When you looked up at each other, you were so close to each other. This was the moment youâve always thought would forever be a dream. Sunghoon leaned in closer and muttered âCan I?â
You nodded your head and when his lips landed onto your lips, Sunghoon realized that you were his person. You were the person he wanted to have his firsts in everything with.
You and Sunghoon still held hands as your lips moved in harmony with each other. You didnât know it was possible for something to feel so right, but as you and Sunghoon kissed you knew this was it. This was everything youâve ever wanted.
It was a passionate yet a soft kiss. The kiss made the two of you realize that this was what you wanted your forever to be. You wanted it to be each other.
That night, Sunghoon grabbed the incomplete bucket list and used a pen lying around in his car to check off the check boxes next to âGet your first kissâ. You laughed but stopped when you saw him scribbling something onto the paper.
He soon passed the paper to you and held the pen for you to grab. When you read the bucket list, you felt yourself smilingly stupidly.
âBecoming your boyfriend?â The new check box he created was corny but you found yourself swooned by it, you grabbed the pen from him before checking it off, Sunghoon was quick to smile at the bucket list before throwing it somewhere and grasping your lips into another soft kiss
As you and Sunghoonâs relationship began, you knew this came with having to date behind his sister, your best friendâs back. You hoped whenever the time came and you told her that sheâs happy for you two of you and wouldnât despise you for the rest of your life.
But you knew that was a stretch you only hoped for.
As you played with Sunghoonâs hair under the moonlight in his room, you almost forgot that you were supposed to be sleeping over for your best friend and not her brother.
You didnât have to worry about her waking up any time soon, she was a heavy sleeper and nothing could wake her once she was out. So when you made she was knocked out from exhaustion, you softly knocked on your boyfriendâs door and when he opened it, he was quick to drag you inside.
As you both laid on his bed it was rather a comfortable silence, his body slumped onto yours as he smiled listening to your heart beating against your chest.
The con that came with your relationship was having to wait until you were alone or in private somewhere in order to give your boyfriend a mere hug. You knew this would be the case but whenever you saw how couples held hands, gave soft kisses, you just wished you were able to do that with Sunghoon.
âWhatâs on your mind?â You heard Sunghoon mumbled, you didnât want to ruin the moment so you only shook your head, he got off of you to sit up on his to face you
You looked at him with confusion and he analyzed you. He knew something was on your mind, but if you didnât want to talk about it he wouldnât force you to.
âIâll alway listen to you whenever, it doesnât matter when or where, Iâm always available for youâ You smiled at your boyfriends words, his words and his mere presence were the biggest comfort in the world, and you wondered what luck you mustâve had in order to finally have him
âIâm just really happy that youâre my boyfriendâ Sunghoon had the same awkward smile but it held a loving feeling behind it, he soon found himself back in your arms as he placed a soft peck on your cheek
You smiled and wrapped your arm around him as he continued to place butterfly kisses all over your face. You were tying to suppress your giggles but Sunghoon whispered in your ear to let them go.
He knew it was risky, his family could possibly hear your giggles coming from his room, but he just wanted to drown in the sound of your giggles. To him, they sounded like paradise, the only paradise he would ever want to experience.
âSunghoon she doesnât want to hear about your latest check off on another check boxâ You best friend grumbled as she saw her brother happily walk into the living where you and her watched a movie
âWell too bad sheâs going toâ Youâve already heard his story about the completion of yet another check box on his bucket list
Your best friend grumbled before getting up from the couch to leave. She announced she was going to the kitchen and that you would have to suffer the same way she did when she first heard her brotherâs story. But she was oblivious to the fact that you already knew the story, you were the first person Sunghoon told when he completed it.
When your best friend was out of sight, Sunghoon was quick to sit next to you and place a kiss on your cheek. You widen your eyes to tell him to stop but he didnât, he continued to smother your face with his kisses.
âIâve missed youâ His voice whispered against your face, you couldnât help but give in and place a quick peck on his lips
âWe saw each other last nightâ
âThatâs not enough for me, I need to see you every minute Iâm breathingâ You never knew Sunghoon had this side to him until you started dating him, he was a completely different from how he was before but he claimed that he waited for you to show this side of him
You found yourself softly chuckling at his words and nodding until your lips met with his. He smiled against the kiss and a few second when you both pulled away in walked your best friend with all kinds of snacks.
âAnd thatâs why it mustâve been my favorite completion of anything on my bucket listâ Sunghoon was quick to cover up any traces of what truly happened while his sister was gone
âYou didnât tell me that it was your favorite completion?âYour best friend tilted her head before plopping onto her spot next to you
âI didnât? I mean it was a spur of the moment addition to my bucket list so it mustâve slipped my mind. I loved every single moment of it and if I could, I would do it over and over againâ Your best friend didnât realize the meaning behind his words, she only waved him off thinking it was the time he became poetic about his bucket list.
You on the other hand stared at Sunghoon, he was talking about the unknown bucket list that only you and him knew of. Where it checked off his first kiss and becoming your boyfriend. Your hands itched to grab his into yours.
You were falling harder than ever before for your best friendâs older brother.
Sunghoonâs sister stayed in the passenger seat of her brotherâs car waiting for him to come back from his quick shopping spree.
She scrolled through her phone but jumped when she heard Sunghoonâs ringtone play through the carâs speaker. She recognized the ringtone after hearing it for years on end since he refused to change it.
She looked at the screen between the driver and passenger seat and she saw the contact name that was calling her brother, âlove <3â.
Sunghoonâs sister was stunned, What the fuck? When did Sunghoon get a lover? Her brother never mentioned anything about dating someone, she was hurt at the fact he didnât even tell her or their parents.
She could understand and respect his decision but she couldnât help but be a little hurt. She thought that they were close.
Sunghoonâs sister was going to ignore the call and mind her own business, and go back to her phone but when the call was answered, she froze when she heard a familiar voice through the car speaker.
It was your voice.
You called out for her brother but when you got no response, you hung up and called again. The contact name âlove <3â popped up on the screen again and when the call was answered again and your voice rang into her ears, calling out for her brother to respond.
She felt like she was going to throw up at the realization. You, her best friend and Sunghoon, her brother were dating each other behind her back.
The car ride back was eerily quiet for Sunghoonâs liking, when he came back from his spur of the moment shopping, his sister faced the window and didnât greet or even acknowledged him. He wondered what caused her to be like this but he imagined it was something he didnât need to worry about.
Right when Sunghoon pulled up to the driveway of their house, he was going to exit his car and get the shopping bags but stopped when he heard his sister.
âSince when?â
âSince when what?â
âSunghoon since when have you been dating my best friend?â
He felt the world halt, the way his stomach churned as he felt his sisterâs hard gaze on him made him sick. She found out, he doesnât know but she did.
His sister saw him stunned for words and scoffed. She was feeling too many emotions at once, she felt betrayal, anger, happiness. She was most frustrated that neither you or Sunghoon felt the need to tell her that the two of you were dating.
She got out of his car and slammed the door shut before going into their house, Sunghoon gripped the steering wheel before hanging his head low. He banged his hand against the steering wheel just to release the wave of emotions.
He didnât go into his house after that, he drove off to yours to tell you that his sister found out about the two of you. But he didnât know his sister was waiting for him on their couch to walk through the door and talk to her about what happened.
She waited 30 minutes and was met with disappointment when her brother never walked through the door, instead she only had multiple miss calls and text messages from you trying to explain. Thatâs was the unofficial confirmation she needed that you, her best friend were indeed dating her brother. She couldnât believe it, she threw her phone onto the couch and walked away into her room.
Itâs been a week since the whole the situation, you havenât been over since and Sunghoon and his sister were barely on speaking terms. You tried every morning and night trying to talk to your best friend and explain everything.
You prioritized your friendship highly with her, you couldnât and wouldnât lose her. Thatâs why you stood in front of their front door, you rang the doorbell waiting for someone to answer.
When the door opened, you were greeted with your best friendâs shocked expression. You smiled and she rolled her eyes at you, she didnât expect to see you at their front door.
âWhat?â Her voice was harsh and you couldnât blame her, she had every right to be mad
âI think itâs time all three of us talkâ Your soft voice contrasted her harsh one, and stayed silent breathing heavily as she looked at you, Sunghoon who heard the doorbell came to see who it was appeared from behind his sister to see you standing at their front door
You gave a quick smile to him and your best friend noticed this. She knew he was behind her, she could feel him and she sighed before moving a little for you to walk in.
You and Sunghoon didnât initiate anything and solely kept a distant between each other to respect your best friendâs comfortability. She noticed this and grumbled softly, what was the pointing of hiding it when she already knew.
Your best friend walked and sat on the couch waiting for you two to follow suit, she knew the conversation had to happen so she decided not to waste anymore time. She wanted to know what happened between you and Sunghoon.
When you and Sunghoon sat opposite of each, your best friend sat in the middle. The tension was high, the three of you waited to find the right words to start to conversation.
âIâm so sorryâ You were the one to take initiative of the whole situation, you were the one that showed up unannounced to their house
âHow long?â Was your best friendâs first question, the one sheâs been anticipating ever since she found out, she wanted to know how long you two have been keep it from her
âTwo monthsâ Your answered and your best friend only deeply sighed shaking her head, the two of your had been lying and sneaking behind her back for two months and acted like nothing
âAnd you just never planned on telling me?â She was growing frustrated at the thought that if she never found out, the two of you seemed to never tell her
âWe were scared, we didnât know how you would react to the newsâ She scoffed after hearing her brotherâs voice now pitching in the conversation
âYou guys didnât think about how I would feel knowing you were keeping this from me?â
âWe did but we believed if we told you, it would be worseâ You tried to rebuttal her words but she shook her head
âNo itâs worse having to hear your voice through Sunghoonâs car speaker, calling out for your boyfriendâ Your best friend finally gave out to how she found out and Sunghoon realized his phone mustâve been connect to his car and when you called, your voice went to the speaker of his car instead of his phone
There was a silence, you didnât know how to respond to her words. You couldnât tell her that she wasnât supposed to witness that but you also couldnât assure her that you both wanted to tell her any time soon.
âHow much do you like her?â Her gaze went onto her brother, he was surprised by the sudden question, Sunghoon may have been older by one year but she knew he never had a relationship ever before
So to see the two most important in her life together caused something to bubble in herself but she just didnât know whether it was good or bad.
âI really like herâ Sunghoonâs voice was assertive, he didnât hesitate to answer the question
âAnd how much do you like him?â The questions was now for you and she sighed, you wanted to be truthful
âI know Iâve never told you, but you have no idea how much I like himâ Your answer made him hang his head low to hide the growing smile on his life, he felt like he was on top of the world knowing you liked him just as much he liked you
Your best friend was silent after hearing both of your response, she stared off to oblivion before nodding her head, neither you or Sunghoon knew what this meant but you hoped it was good.
âI hate you both for not telling me sooner. You shouldâve known I wouldâve been your biggest supporterâ Her soft chuckled caused you and Sunghoon to stared at her in bewilderment, did they hear her right?
âYouâre not mad?â Your best friend shook her
âIâm mad that you guys hid it from me but Iâm not mad that you two are together. Iâm glad that youâre Sunghoonâs first girlfriend, and he better not screw it up so that youâll be his last tooâ
âI donât intend losing her so you donât have to worry about thatâ She internally gagged at her brotherâs cheesy words, she could see the love sick smile you both on your face and she couldnât help but smile too
âSounds like Iâm stuck to this family for the rest of my lifeâ You raised an eyebrow and both of the siblings nodded their head, you chuckled and nodded your head in acceptance, you didnât mind being apart of the family any more than what you already were
Sunghoon never expected to fall for his sisterâs best friend but unexpected things always happened in life. He was still overjoyed nonetheless to know that you and him would no longer had to hide your relationship.
You and Sunghoon had to give the biggest thanks to his overbearing bucket list for being the major reason why the two of you were finally able to find the person you wanted to experience all your firsts with.
âPark Sunghoon, thank you for your damn bucket listâ
