I recognize a lot of these images from episodes that I’ve worked on.. But it’s been so long, that I can’t really remember anymore. Part of getting old, I guess?.. I have a bunch of Layout lists stored downstairs somewhere, and one of these days I’m gonna catalog what I did and where!
1990 Beetlejuice Valentines
I'm not a particularly big Life Drawing fan.. But awhile back, I was fortunate to be gifted with a bunch of at-size color photocopies, done by none other than my fave artist: Frank Frazetta!! He drew this sometime around March of 1957.. Wouldn't it be great to have an entire book of these published someday?
Attended TCAF 2013 on Saturday afternoon, and felt fortunate to pick up the last copy of Basil Wolverton's 'SPACEHAWK' book from the Fantagraphics table.. Also very much enjoyed chatting with artist Jim Rugg and purchasing his 'SUPERMAG' book.. Great show!!
A pen-and-ink Pinup of Dixie Evans "The Marilyn Monroe Of Burlesque", that I did back ‘95.. In the early 1990's, I corresponded with her a bit. She was running the "Exotic World" museum in Helendale, California. Sadly, she passed away this month. She was a sweet old lady..
More on Dixie can be found here..
“Scarilyn” chills on a Neitherworld beach.. A 29 year-old layout from the 12th episode in Season One of “Beetlejuice”, entitled: "Quit While You're a Head".. This was my first real Animation job, back in 1989.
Lookee what I got in today's mail.. My copy of 'EC Fan-Addict' #2!! Great articles on the comic art careers of Frazetta and Sid Check.. Plus, an interview with Al Feldstein?! Not available in any stores, folks.. To get your own copy, contact: ecfanaddicts_at_yahoo.com
Two years ago today, we lost a local legend.. RIP Darwyn Cooke.
15 years ago, I was commissioned by artist Leigh Young to draw a Pinup featuring one of her ‘LUCHABABES’ characters.. i chose to draw “Ambarina”. Shown here, facing off against “The Blue Demon”. I’d just come off working on "THE RIPPING FRIENDS” cartoon series, which (I think) may have informed the way I handled the overwrought anatomy of the Villain, here..
A bit of ink, before the month of October runs out.. With appropriate “Halloween” content, too! I’ve been wanting to get back to more comic-book type work. And these character studies sourced from an old Jack Cole horror comic, were just the ticket for me!
SUBWAY CREEP!!
Sketchbook composite of story panels found in an old 50′s-era Crime comic-book.. The original artist was Bill Draut. It was entitled “MASHER!”, about a sleazy creep that liked to proposition young women riding the subway. I’ve been inspired by Charles Burns’ “LOVE NEST” book. And he recontextualized parts of this same story, too..
First of a 4-page sampler that I inked over my friend Sam Agro's pencils, in 2005.. It was entitled: "Vampire Of Siam", and intended as a pitch for a longer Graphic Novel, but I don't think any publishers went for it.. Fun job, though!
I'm a guy that likes to draw.. Here's some of my own artwork. And images by others, that inspire me.. My Instagram My Blogger My CAF Gallery My Facebook My LinkedIn My Portfolio My IMDb My AI interview
