He’s a real hazard! He will go >:( at people and try really hard to use spore to send them to lala land.
When he really does learn spore he’s gonna be a MENACE!!!
Pippi is still pissy after being hefted up into the luggage area. The shock the flight attendant felt when the backpack she hefted up meeped at her angrily and wiggled around!
She was even wearing her lil jacket… remind me to get a good picture of her on the way back.
@poketherapist-in-training n I are mid-way through a flight to go see family, Pippi got mistaken for a pink backpack and got put in the overhead lol. Captain was checked in to the pokeball check-in, since teeeechnically he's a "hazardous pokemon". Hazardous to ceramic cups maybe but I don't think he's actually a threat to anyone.
Solid little guy 🥺
Pokerating Day 30, Lotad!
Charm: Idk what a lotad really is and that adds to its charm. It's clearly similar to lilypads, maybe a mimic to them for camoflauge? But otherwise? Idk. This could be some bird, it could be some weird bug, a small mammal, who knows. All I know is that its small, friendly, has six nubby lil nub legs it scoots around on, and is goddamn adorable. 10/10.
Care: So the main factor in housing a lotad is the environment its in. It needs clean, pure water, as it needs to both be able to free-float and safely consume the water. If it does not have access to this fundamental need the leaf on its head will wilt and die. Needless to say, that's a very bad sign. While it is capable of moving on land, it is exhausted easily doing so due to how heavy its leaf is (and how stubby its legs are). If you frequently find your lotad on land it can be a sign of poor water conditions. Some lotad do just like to travel more than others though so keep your tad's habits in mind. They consume mostly sunlight via photosynthesis and the rest of their nutrients are obtained via the water it drinks. Nutritional supplements designed for aquaponic systems should be added to water if not kept in a well established pond ecosystem. 4/10, aquatic mons are always harder to keep but lotad also is incredibly dependent on water quality. Lotad also really like to socialize with other pokemon, regardless if they're other lotad or any other pokemon thats small enough to not scare them. Good playmates include: small baby pokemon like igglybuff and togepi, pleasant-tempered aquatic or semi-aquatic pokemon like Johtonian wooper or surskit, and other non-boisterous pokemon like ralts and bounsweet. Avoid corphish, the two may often cohabitate in the wild but corphish will predate on lotad and tend to dirty the water with all of their excavation. The only reason corphish don't usually decimate lotad populations is bc they tend to occupy different vertical levels of the water. Both also migrate under poor water conditions, causing them to disperse and spread similarly, causing notable habitat range overlap.
Safety: Worst it can do is spit water in your face and waddle away. 10/10.
Utility: Learns surf (somehow), flash, and whirlpool. Ludicolo, however, learns surf, flash, whirlpool, rock smash, waterfall, dive, rock climb, and strength! Thats almost every field move! Most flying types can cover the rest of the field moves (cut, fly, defog). It also gets sweet scent, which, while far more niche, is still a field move. Lotad does have one other use though, which is as a small pokemon lifeguard! This is a habit that requires no teaching. It's a standard quality of lotad as a species. If they spot a small pokemon drowning they scoot over and scoop it up on their pad. This is particularly useful for people who keep having rattata and other small mons fall into their ponds (which is a common thing apparently?). Ludicolo can also be great actual lifeguards, albeit they don't like pools (chlorine) and saltwater, so application is limited. Ludicolo are also very intelligent and can be trained to do quite a lot. They're often trained as dancers, but they can do a lot more than just that! I've seen one working the register at a store before actually. It was.... strange, but not unwelcome. Friendly fella, that one. Only thing to look out for when training them is their NEED to dance if they hear upbeat music. But a lotta the time thie just results in fun little dance breaks. 9/10, a real jack of all trades pokemon! Great for travel assistance And day-to-day help! Only thing better would be if it could like... time travel. Or teleport you across the planet.
Battle: Ludicolo has been a staple of the double battle for as long as it existed. It's typing is solid, leaving it weak to only bug, flying, and poison, all of which are niche offensive types. It resists ground and water too, which are great resists cause earthquake and water spout are really really common in doubles. It has a respectable level of bulk to it too, and it learns just enough moves to have good coverage. It also gets The double battle move of all time, fake out, as well as scald. Where it shines, though, is in the ability Swift Swim. This doubles its' speed when its raining, making it blisteringly fast, as well as boosting the damage of its water type moves. The only issue is that it shares a lot about its niche with a few other great pokemon, namely mega swampert, seismitoad, kingdra, and more. However, that doesn't make it worse, no pokemon should really encompass every single competitive meta generation, thats just borderline impossible. 7/10, cause while its only used in double battles under rain, it's absolutely exceptional when doing so.
Oh and a note for people who wanna train lotad: get yours from a breeder. They don't learn any decent moves as a lotad outside of egg moves (and tm moves I guess). Get yours from a breeder so you can start with at least water gun. Otherwise it Will evolve far before naturally learning any water type move, which can make training a slog. Lotad breeders are pretty common cause its a common pond ornamental and most of those breeders will breed some egg moves onto the lotad so they defend themselves better from predators.
Scores:
Charm: 10/10
Care: 4/10
Safety: 10/10
Utility: 9/10
Battle: 7/10
Final Score: 40/50(!!!)
Pet Score: 24/30
Trainer Score: 16/20
Notes: I love lotad. They aren't very common up here cause its a little cold for them but they do pop up from time to time and I love seeing them. They got an exceptionally amazing score too! The only real bad trait is that they have a few unique needs that makes care difficult.
I really appreciate your openness! Learning is my passion and you seem to have a lot of unique knowledge and experiences.
Pfft… man, I really wanna draw that I will not lie! Stretched dewpider! The practicality makes a lot of sense.
Same to you!
( @poketherapist-in-training )
Hi! You seem really cool- I’ve never heard of a weremon before! Outside of reading, that is. I loved the “stretched dewpider” tag on your post! Sillies. Hope we can be friends!
Hello !! Thank you !!!! :}
Yeah, most folk don't know it's not just mythos !! It's a fascinating condition for sure, and even moreso with weird forms like my own-- but I think it's neat and enjoy talking about it :}
It is funny but it's also kinda true-- normally I like to keep a human-like trunk instead of going 100% ... it looks very silly, but it means I keep my land-lungs (and arms, and size..), so it makes living on my own a lot easier XP
I'm always open to talking !! Always feel free to shoot asks or the like <3
How do you imagine the charmanders and totadile sleep? All snuggled up with their mama, in a pile? Side by side. Or do the babies never sleep and keep mama up all night their their antics?
they tuckered themselves out
I can’t imagine chief being phased, but I guess I don’t know. Maybe we can do a test drive? ^^
He will insist on bringing treats and tea.
Hello. Official appointment request! ^^
Chief the Chansey, with his little Oddish passenger (they are inseparable… we’ve tried) are the clients!
Background: Chief was a medic in the pokewars of yore and belonged to my grandpa. He’s in my care now as my grandpa isn’t able to care for him. He’s not distrustful of humans really, more so he sees them all as in his care and can’t seem to submit himself to their care. He’s been pretty isolated and is mourning my grandmother and the loss of company of my grandpa/ loss of caretaking for him since he is in my families care now.
Hope that’s enough background! Any additional info and scheduling can be tagged:

Thank you for the starting information! That's very helpful! ^^
Breaking out of selfless habits in order to care for yourself or let others care for you can be tough, I've actually had that issue myself before when I get too into the zone. ^^"
Is there any specific habits that really stand out?
Fym sharpedo infested waters? They just live there
Hi! Random Pokémon fun fact person here! I would love to give your dear Pippy a fun fact about her species! When talking about Chansey, many people just focus on her egg. I dislike that. So! Did you know that Chansey's hair tentacles are some of the most sensitive and tactile Pokémon body parts? Just gently touching one can give the Chansey the same brain signals and bear hugging or petting it. They are also able to sense emotions at a base level from up to 3 kilometers away and, when touching one, lets the Chansey FEEL those emotions at several times the intensity. Honestly, it makes sense why they're so reclusive with feelers like that.

:0 this is really cool.
This does make a particular habit of Pippi’s a little confusing to me though. She likes to head butt me? That being said, it makes sense that she wears caps on her feelers when she goes to work now. 🤔
Chief is also missing a few feelers… :(
Thank you Dashiela! I hope to hear more cool stuff from ya! :D
sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words
BIG FUCKER
Egg I totally didn't forget to post yesterday or anything
Its pretty large for a tynamo egg. Wonder if its twins.
Yes! Return to Spore! x) Ach there’s that new spore-like game that just released isn’t there? Bibbits? Ah- not released but in early access!
Seems cool!
Pfft… or it’s all those wild chancy college parties…
( @poketherapist-in-training )
Morning! What are you up to today? I just had a crazy experience myself x)
Nothing really!! Getting back into form for the week, mostly, haha.
Oh ?? You wanna elaborate, or??
Does it worry you much? What are you fearing the outcome will be?
Personally I can’t find a bad thing to think about it. I’ve met some interesting people on here, and it’s their authenticity that strikes me.
It seems like a nice way to live. But one that takes a while to navigate to. What does the road ahead look like in your estimation?
Good morning, Rotomblr!
Felt a little stressed so I put on some calming music and read through my notes for the past week!
I feel calmer now!
How is everyone else's mornings going? Or day in general if it's later for you?
