Happy Mother's Day!
SPY X FAMILY could have gone so differently were it not for the choices Yor and Loid made as parents. The series could have been a darker, cynical drama about a false family who only use each other for their own gains. Loid could have been a strict abusive father who use corporal punishment to shape Anya into perfection and discard after she is no longer of use. Yor could have been distant mother and wife to Anya and Loid so when the time comes there would be no hurt feelings once she leaves them. Their traumatic childhoods could have been the convenient excuse to make them be abusive parents. And Anya would have been left a lonely, broken child.
But instead Yor and Loid refuse to rely on that flimsy excuse, instead they actively choose to be good parents to Anya, taking care of her and loving her as their own child. Maybe it was part of their personality, sharing the same desire to create a peaceful world where innocent people can live happily, but it is always a joy to see these two adults work to provide their daughter the normal childhood they were deprived of. The Forger family we know and loved could not have existed were it not for the choices Yor and Loid made as parents to Anya.

Really wanna write about this Heian AU....
Okay, I was studying. But I accidentally came across the premise of a simplistic early Noh drama version of the "Tsuchigumo" story. You might or might not recall that this is the story of the giant spider demon slain in a few Kabuki retellings, including "Kumo no Hyoshimai," which was the basis for the official KnY/Kabuki crossover last year. In that Kabuki crossover, Giyuu played the role of Minamoto no Yorimitsu, aka Minamoto no Raiko, a noble and a warrior (and goodness, that Kabuki makeup was becoming on him, wasn't it?). In this Noh version I stumbled on today, he's not joined by his four legendary Kamaboko warrior cohorts, but instead he is treated by a handmaiden who comes to bring him medicine and comfort him when he is suffering an illness of both body and mind.
The handmaiden's name is "Kochou." Yes, written exactly the same.
So, so get this. Picture it. Heian era times. Giyuu is a warrior. Shinobu is his handmaid. Yes? Yes.
No but I'm obsessed with this exchange actually
Because Twilight thinks he'd this big tough guy all for the mission and only caring about the mission and that's he's cold and has no attachments but every once in a while we see that he's not really he's a HUGE DORK
And he gets overzealous about things all the time and gets so into something when he's fired up but he doesn't even realize it and when he does his first instinct is to tamper it down because it makes him stand put or it goes against the mission or what have you but also that's the part that Yor loves about him
It makes sense cause she was like that with Yuri, always excited and interested in learning about him and his interests even when she didn't understand them at all. Because Yor loves it, and that's why she's perfect for Twilight because the parts he finds the most ridiculous or uncool are the parts she's drawn to and they are just absolutely perfect for each other
The thing is that Loid thinks of himself as a completely average normal person, which means whenever Yor has anything in common with him hes like "excellent, we are so good at being normal. I picked the perfect wife, she even knows about poisons"
Thinking about a scenario where Twilight and Yor know each other’s identities and are both beating up some bad guys while making flirty comments to each other
saw a post earlier today saying that twilight’s real name might be james, since anya was subject 007 and bond (and bondman) is bond and that would complete the set of references, and i’m pretty sure endo said yor’s name is short for “yolanda,” which i googled just now and one of the first examples of notable people on the wikipedia page was
i think there might be something to this theory
I love this scene 🥺
