KEEP YAPPING PLEASE YOU'RE SO LINGUISTICALLY INCLINED
Yapped a bunch then went on the Byler tag and was somehow surprised when I saw my posts there
oopsies
the TENSION in this screen shot is insane. I need one of those pointer things with the gloves you would get at scholastic book fairs for this unbelievable crashout. I'm actually going crazy
Frogs are known as symbols for emotional healing and cleansing in some cultures.
How appropriate is that?
Yknow Sejanus just has that energy, the one Billy Hargrove has. Idk just, "you're so emotionally repressed you have to be gay"
once again i am asking you if you would like to a read a fic based on its concept:
basically mike has already confessed to will which saved him from vecna, but will was too unconscious/injured to even respond. will wakes up next to mike the morning after.
mike's super worried that will listened and doesn't feel the same (despite it literally saving him but he's a little hopeless)
reply or reblog if you want me to tag you when i post it! (might be a while bc im prioritising my university work but its a shorter fic than my usual ones)
A force of gravity by @oceanfruitsstuff
A MUST READ FOR BYLERS
i nearly have no words that can encapsulate the rollercoaster of emotions this book has put me through. i already gushed about this before but i want to leave another note here, too. I hope one day oceanfruit will publish this. iām seriously planning on printing all 800 pages of this out and annotating it because it astonishing how high quality this is. for a fic that doesn't have a beta? MARVELLOUS!!!!
so many times i felt as though i was watching a real person's life because the dialogue was so authentic. everything that everyone said flowed so naturally and all i can describe it as is like silk.
characters? chefs kiss.
they're so raw and human. many times i was just left staring at the screen, my eyes glued to the text, on the verge of tears because i resonated with them. their stories and arcs were so beautiful, and just natural. it's an amazing separation from the idea that characters are black and white and how that assumption can draw people into a spiral within the story, too.
Further, the author introduces us to so many complex ideas and does not let them drop: everything makes sense.
the semantic field of colour, the pathetic fallacy and the IMAGERY!!! so many amazing language techniques were used, and all of them had a profound purpose within the text. Parallelism is the bread and butter of byler nation so i already knew that this fic wouldn't fall flat but, gosh, i didn't expect it to be this great.
i don't even want to start on the plot because DAMNNNN
iām just saying: if you liked aristotle and dante, you'll love this one.
i can go on and on and on about this for hours and i'll probably update my review after i've completed my annotations and my psychoanalysis of all the characters but for now, there are my final words:
Micheal Wheeler, you're so lovable and you'll always be famous.
Will Byers, they can NEVER make me hate you and you're so lovable.
I like the idea of M22gate being the name for the teaser coming out on wills birthday.
It reminds me of Mileven (like M11 yknow) except we're doubling down against the haters
Here's the thing. Will took himself out of the running. It was a love triangle by simple "two options to the audience" standards and he took himself out of the running for Mike. So either it was pointless for him to ever even be there OR Mike has to himself put him back in the running
Which do you think is more likely
Every non-Byler pitch for resolving Will's feelings in season 5 is highly dependent on him still having desire to pursue Mike in any way. There was a major scene about how he is definitely not going to do that. But we both know the plot still needs to be resolved. And we both know there's only one other person that can do that. And we both know there's only one reason for them to initiate that conversation.
It isn't clear whether this is true (which I'm totally fine with! I don't want to ruin the suspense). But if this is true, El Mike and Will "leading the final season" is kind of huge for Byler Nation.
Because remember this quote from Shawn Levy:
Stranger Things isn't just about flashy action and monsters; it's about the emotional arcs its characters go through. They must battle their internal demons to "become heroes" to confront external ones.
Season 4x9 had possessions and snapping limbs, but at its core it was about:
Max confronting her guilt over Billy's death
El defying Brenner
Lucas rejecting "the cool crowd"
And yes, Mike "confessing his love"
Mike, El, and Will being the leads in s5 means THEIR EMOTIONAL ARCS come to the fore this season as well...
It's already confirmed Will's emotional arc "will tie the series together."
So what on earth could Mike's emotional arc be this season? Hmmm?
And what do Mike, El, and Will have to resolve, in order to band together?
And how on earth do Will and Mike manage to band together, when Will's canonical love for Mike, the Painting Lie, and not coming out to him are huge dangling plot threads? When David Bowie's "Heroes" is canonically associated with these two?
I'll wait!
