WHY IS DRAWING HANDS SO FUCKING HARD
How i shade !
i literally love how your color and shade if it’s ok do you have any tips on digital coloring? you don’t have to answer this if you don’t feel like it :) thanks!!
hello friend!! i have a tutorial i made on twitter a while ago which is more or less how i make my colours more interesting. i still use the technique and in general it’s just a lot of colour adjustment nothing too special LOL here!!
Art tutorials by Disney artists Griz and Norm Lemay
Aaahh so yeah. I’m nothing amazing at trees, but my friend Huispe has been asking for this for such a long time now, I decided to finally do it. Hopefully it can be useful for any of you out there <3 (there’s prolly plenty of typos in there too but I am just so tired right now aughhh)
so playing andromeda and drawing kaleans got me thinkin’ on another minor complaint i have about ME and it’s this:
dang they can’t figure out how to make digitigrade legs work on a humanoid character and they end up adding extra joints to the legs to try to make it make sense
like i watched the animation cycle of that angara working out at the resistance camp and when he started doing crunches and his legs made an M shape i was just like smdh
i mean i think they handle it better with the angara since they have those weird little hand-feet (angara are so cute i cannot stand it) but the worst offender is probably the salarians
anyway i love the concept of humanoids with digitigrade legs so here’s some notes about it. it’s not beautifully formatted or anything but maybe it’s helpful!
basically the main thing to get out of your mind is that you’re not going for “backwards knees.” i am sure backwards knees could work and would be an interesting design, but it’s gonna change how this character moves and sits, it’s gonna affect the character’s center-of-gravity, it’s gonna be a much bigger overhaul of the anatomy than creating a digitigrade leg requires.
when you’re thinking of a digitigrade leg as having backwards knees, it’s probably because the joint you’re thinking of as the knee is actually the ankle
both plantigrade and digitigrade legs will have four major points of articulation: the hip the knee the ankle the toes and a digitigrade leg isn’t a plantigrade leg backwards, but on its tiptoes:
that’s basically all you gotta do! then you exaggerate the effects by changing the proportions of the leg, starting with making the knee-ankle length shorter, and the ankle-toe length longer.
the benefit of drawing digitigrade characters like this is that they can sit in chairs without looking ridiculous!
and finally, if your character doesn’t have paws or hooves or talons, they probably want to wear shoes! hell, even if they do they still might wear shoes. the ground is nasty! think this through and let it be another cool design opportunity. a good place to start if you’re stuck is looking at wedge heels, then drawing them without the heel!
aaaand here’s some aliens
now get outta here and draw some weird-ass legs aight
hey! >this post< got a some attention and i saw a tag asking for the tutorial, so i decided to go through with it. here’s that tutorial!
tutorial below the cut!

Hello! this is an effect I see in a lot of artworks and that I use a lot, I tend to see new/younger digital artists (even others who are more experienced) asking me and others quite often how to do it but there doesn’t seem to be many tutorials for how to do it, especially not for Clip Studio Paint. I’m going to try to keep this simple as possible, cause it confuses tf out of me and i only just now learned how to do it in CSP lol
*This can also be/is usually done in Photoshop, but not everyone has photoshop, and there are already tutorials for it I think! Do what u gotta do!

So I was looking out my window and saw two birds and the idea of making a list of symbolism associated with types of birds came to mind. My mom always taught me if you see an animal -especially if they are doing something out of the ordinary- you should take it as an omen. So here’s a list of some basic birds, some of the associations are personal but I hope you like it!
Blue Jay-the truth will be revealed, high energy, playfulness, clarity and communication.
Cardinal-hope, joy, good health, some associate them with angels or deceased love ones, passion and warmth.
Crow-often associated with magic and witches, transformation, power, intelligence and mystery.
Duck-friendships, new friends, happiness, good fortune and protect against negative energies “water off a ducks back” :)
Dove-peace, harmony, joy, love, might be telling you to break away from a toxic situation, think positive, often associated with Aphrodite or Jesus or Angels
Eagle-power, leadership, freedom, adventure, breaking free.
Hawk- common as spirit guides, courage, protection, and awareness.
Hummingbird- I adore hummingbirds and often associate them with faeries. Creativity, joy, love and beauty. Can be a sign that you are moving too fast in life and need to take a break.
Magpie-Magpies represent duality because seeing them can be really good or really bad, I know it’s confusing :/ Seeing a magpie can be a good luck omen and new oppurtunities will appear. They also represent illusion and trickery, maybe someone is being a two-faced friend to you.
Owl- wisdom, associated with the goddess Athena, intuition, spiritual exploration, change, observation and intelligence.
Raven- associated with the nordic god Odin, mystery, magic, fae magic, knowledge, mischieve, and can be seen as a death omen (but can also mean change)
Robin- luck, prosperity, good things will happen, joy and your hard work will soon be rewarded.
Sparrow- associated with Aphrodite, new love and relationships, fertility, team work, time of productivity and stop procrastinating.
Stork-long life, prosperity, fertility, new life, wisdom, take time to relax, motherhood and luck.
Swan- also associated with Aphrodite and Apollo, gracefulness, beauty, music, poetry, creativity, loyalty, and long lasting relationships.
Vulture-death, cleaning up other people’s messes, renewal, patient, use your resources and be perceptive.
Woodpecker- hard work, take advantage of new oppurtunities, attention, progress and determination.
Tip! If you are repeatedly seeing a certain animal or have a strong liking to an animal it could be a way a spirit guide is trying to get your attention (or that animal is just really common in your area lol )
