I love you, dad. I’m sorry for mistreating you when I did. I’m sorry for not spending time with you like I should have. Time is going by so slowly but no matter how slow I know it will not be enough. I’m thinking about recording our conversations together, I need to savor your words and your stories; have something more to remember you by than the last few months, more than your shallow gait and near-empty eyes. Your neuropathy is affecting your memory, and I know you’re guessing you won’t be moving at all by September. You are one of my best friends, a soul that I do my best to hold close to, you share my passion for theatre and for music, for redemption arcs and integrity. For the ability to love and be loved in return. You taught me what I should look for in a relationship with how dearly you loved mom. And how to have a good work ethic with how hard you worked every single day of your life, being a parent to your own siblings at the mere age of 5, never resting for a day, despite the 80 hour weeks and never-ending challenging trials one after the other.
