PICTURES ARE NOT MINE
——————————————————————
Hiccup makes handling dragons look easy.
It’s not.
It seems that Dragon Hunters have a never ending schedule of making your life difficult.
All you wanted to do was sit outside your hut (that you spent far too much time trying to decide where to place) and enjoy the beautiful view with your dragon, your boyfriend, or your friends.
Easier said than done.
When your boyfriend is Hiccup Haddock who has devoted most of his life to protecting dragons, free time doesn’t come often.
Hiccups values are part of the reason you fell so hard for him, but sometimes it seems to take from your relationship.
Laying in your bed thinking all of this over in your head is not a great start to your morning.
So, you climb out of your bed and throw on some clothes.
You whistle as a sort of wake up call to your dragon who is sleeping soundly.
Your dragon groans and moans barely opening one eye to look at you. This was their way of saying, “Do you know what time it is?”
You scoff under your breath completely aware they could still hear it, "Don't worry, I haven't lost track of the time. Let's go for a ride, just you and me." You move to get their saddle as they move around loudly in protest.
"Weren't you the one who wanted to start doing this?" You bring up the time Hiccup mentioned that he and Toothless go for early morning rides often and your dragon looked at you as if to say, "We should do that!"
Your dragon lets out a regretful moan in response.
You throw the heavy saddle over their back with little difficulty.
"Come on, if you really don't like it, we'll end it early."
____________________
Your dragons behavior has done a full one-eighty. How the dragon you're riding on now and the one you argued with this morning were the same creature baffles you.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" You tease, watching your dragon close their eyes at the feeling of the wind hitting their face.
They snort and suddenly drop a few feet in the air.
A shriek makes it's way out of your mouth and it takes you a few moments to realize that you aren't falling anymore.
"Not funny." You ground your teeth a little.
All your dragon does is laugh in response.
Just when you got over the shock in your body does a familiar voice startle you.
“Good morning, milady!”
Turning your head to peer over your shoulder, you make eye contact with the voice, returning his wide grin with your own.
“Good morning!” You laugh, only needing to wait a minute more before Hiccup and Toothless were right beside you.
Your own dragon and Toothless exchange greetings as you and Hiccup chat.
“Didn’t expect to see you out so early. Something on your mind?” Hiccup questions
You shake your head, grin never faltering, “Just wanted some fresh air, before everyone wakes up. But it seems someone is up.”
Hiccup chuckles, “Oh, you know, just out looking for some adventure. Right, bud?” Toothless grumbles in agreement.
“Adventure, you say? Well, do share with the group.” Your tone is playful.
Hiccup waves his hand in dismissal, “Unfortunately, me and Toothless have seen quite enough adventure for one day. But, I wouldn’t be opposed to sharing our stories to you, milady.”
“You’re all out of adventure for the day? Don’t say that, Snotlouts not even up yet.”
Hiccup's laugh echos around you.
—————————
"So this is where you run off to hm?" You tease sitting down on what you previously believed to be a watch tower. Now realizing it was Hiccup's camouflaged hideout.
Hiccup scoffs playfully, "I don't run off anywhere."
"You're right, you fly." You add
Both Hiccup and your dragon roll their eyes but Toothless lets out a snort of amusement.
"At this point he barely walks himself anywhere, isn't that right?" You look over at Toothless, who happily humors you.
"All right, all right. I guess I won't take you on any morning rides anymore bud." Hiccup voices looking a little smug.
Toothless no longer looks amused.
"Nothing to say Toothless?" Hiccup pokes, earning a glare from the Nightfury.
"Don't worry, Toothless. If he doesn't take you on any morning flights, I will." You whisper loud enough for the other two to hear you, earning a protest from both.
Toothless lets out a laugh and hops around in satisfaction.
Your dragon makes loud noises of detestment and even goes as far as glaring at Toothless.
"What?" You address the cranky dragon, "Do you know how hard it was to get you out of the hut this morning? I'm sure Toothless wouldn't make it so hard for me?" You tease
"Now wait a minute, who said you could steal my dragon?" Hiccup says
"Your dragon." You reply and hear Toothless agree behind you.
Hiccup's mouth opens but no words come out.
You were too busy soaking in the satisfaction you felt from Hiccup's response that you didn't notice your dragon make its way over to you until they knocked you over with their head.
"Hey!" You shriek as your dragon "attacks" you.
You can hear Hiccups laugh in the background and Toothless' sound of surprise.
"Okay, okay! I'm sorry, I was just teasing!" Finally they let up looking satisfied with themselves.
"Like rider, like dragon." Hiccup comments
You scoff, "Says you."
Hiccup leans back against a rock, "Says me." He agrees.
You lean back against your dragon and shake your head.
After a few moments of comfortable silence you reopen the conversation, "Any news from Johann?"
Hiccup sighs, "No. I know he's scouting almost as much as us but it's as if they've gone completely underground."
"Maybe they finally feel defeated. With the more people we meet and become friends with, the more unpopular the dragon hunters get." You add
"Maybe. Or they're planning their next ambush on a new dragon. I feel uneasy with how quiet they've been." Hiccup confides
"We'll keep looking Hiccup. Once we find them we'll stop whatever they're doing, just like we've done before."
Hiccup nods in agreement.
You find a way to bring up your next sentence, "While the dragon hunters are quiet maybe.. we could spend some time to enjoy it." At Hiccup's confused face, you continue, "It's been a long time since we've hung out together, just the two of us."
"We're hanging out together right now?" Hiccup says.
"I know. But just the two of us." You repeat
"Oh. Oh." Hiccup understands
"I know everything has been chaotic, I was just wondering since we seem to finally have some downtime. It'd be beneficial spending it doing something other than talking about the dragon hunters." You explain
"No, you're right. It has been a while since we've hung out, just the two of us. What were you thinking?" Hiccup asks
"I don't know, I wasn't even sure if you wanted to so I didn't really think about what." You say
"You think I wouldn't want to hang out with you? Of course I'd want to hang out with just the two of us, I enjoy your company more than anyone else." Hiccup says
You smile genuinely, "I've been wanting to go down on the beach and examine the shells, see if I could find any fossils or something. How about that?"
Hiccup grins, "Yeah, that sounds really fun."
Your smile grows and you stand up feeling high on adrenaline, "Come on. The others we'll be up soon and we don't want them setting the edge on fire before breakfast again." You offer your hand to Hiccup.
"No we don't." Hiccup takes your hand, "Thank you milady."
"So..race you back to the edge!" You hop on your dragons back.
"Wha-Hey! Wait a minute!" Hiccup calls after you hopping on Toothless' back, "That's not fair!"

Hello, dear readers!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a fanfic, even though I’ve started a whole bunch and they’re just sitting in my drafts collecting dust. Hopefully, the inspiration to finish them will come back to me.
In the meantime, I wanted to reiterate what I have written on my pinned post: I write when I have inspiration. So if I don’t post for a while, I’m not having any.
I haven’t abandoned this account and hopefully in the upcoming year those drafts will see the light of day.
Make sure to take care of yourself! <3

Warnings: Blood, demons, weapons, walking at night

Jace didn’t die and come back alive
Valentine was still defeated though

PICTURES ARE NOT MINE
The only thing that can be heard in the institute is the sound of your black boots against the hardwood floor. You remind yourself to put a soundless rune on your boots before you leave.
Your thoughts are interrupted when you see a certain blonde leaning against the wall- is he filing his fingernails with his stele again?
“Jace?” His head shoots up at the sound of your voice and he grins.
“That would be me.” He begins to walk toward you, “Are you ready to go?”
“What do you mean?” You question confused
“Demon hunting of course, what else? You know they can never get quite enough of my good looks. Such a shame they get themselves killed for it though.” He answers with a fake sigh of disappointment
“I didn’t think you were going.” You answer walking to his side
“Why, because my parabatai is currently traveling the world with his warlock boyfriend? You know a shadowhunters work is never done, even then. You know, we should go on vacation somewhere, just the two of us.”
You ignore the increased beating of your heart and look up at your boyfriend, “I mean, that I didn’t think you’d be going with me. I thought you were gonna take it solo until Alec got back.”
“And let my beautiful girlfriend go by herself. I gotta make sure you’re safe, just like any good boyfriend.” He grins at you
You scoff, “I think I can handle myself quite alright.”
“I know, but it is quite hot watching you fight, and I thought ‘why deprive myself of such a wonderful sight’.” He responds with the same stupid grin
“You won’t be able to watch me because you’ll be too busy fighting yourself.” You say while subconsciously making sure you have everything I need on your person
“I can do both, you know I'm a fantastic multi-tasker.” He smirks and you choose not to answer him
“So, do you have everything?” He asks once more
“I need to put a soundless rune on my boots.” You recall
He clicks his tongue and nods, “We don’t need the sound of your boots alerting the demons of our unholy intentions.” He kneels down in front of you and draws the rune on your right boot first with his stele, then a twin of it on your left.
He stands back up and faces you, “Is that all then?” He whispers his face close to yours.
You manage to keep your composure but your voice breaks when you answer, “That’s all.” you curse yourself inwardly
He smirks and kisses you, hard. You're barely able to kiss him back before he’s pulling away and grabbing your hand, pulling you towards the door.
------------------------
Jace's left hand held a sensor while his right held your hand. You were walking through ChinaTown, which was busy considering the time of day. But it was always busy in New York City. The people walked past you without a single glance since you glamoured ourselves sometime prior.
“Anything?” You ask glancing at the sensor in Jaces hand
Jace nods and looks up. You see a restaurant you often order from, mostly on the nights Izzy decides to...cook.
“Well at least this demon has good taste.” He murmurs before pulling you into the restaurant.
You look around before you hear Jace whisper your name, when he sees that you're looking at him he nods his head in the direction of one of the tables.
You see it immediately, sitting alone at one of the tables with a plate of egg rolls. To the mundane it looked perfectly normal but you and Jace were able to see right through its disguise.
Jace scrunched his nose, “Who eats only egg rolls? This ones weird.”
You rolled your eyes but smiled, “They’re all weird.”
Jace shrugs and silently nods to the sign that indicates the direction of the restrooms. You nod back and then detach from each other.
As you're walking around the corner you're able to hear Jaces voice, “Have you ever tried their mu shu pork? It’s to die for.”
You roll your eyes and giggle under your breath.
A man passes you without a look in your direction as you lean against the wall, waiting patiently. You don’t have to wait long before the demon that was sitting at the table is thrown at the wall past you. He gets up quickly snarling his ugly long teeth.
“Not friendly I see.” You comment grabbing one of your seraph blades from one of the pockets in your jacket
“She’s taken, buddy.” You hear Jace say, but you don’t turn to look at him, keeping your eyes on the demon who’s still snarling at you.
You murmur the name of your blade just in time for the demon to lunge at you. Your blade grazes its side causing bits of black blood to trickle out of the wound. It hisses slightly in pain.
“You never did answer my question!” Jace yells as the demon now lunges at him
You come up behind them intending to stab the demon in the back but it lunges out of the way before you get the chance.
Jace, now at your side, looks at the demon expectantly.
“Screw you shadowhunters and your pork!” The demon hisses in a non-human voice
Jace gasps before lunging at the demon with his seraph blade, “And here I thought we were gonna have a nice conversation.” Jace says through clenched teeth
The demon narrowly dodges Jaces blade as you make your way toward the demon once more. Your seraph blade punctures the demon's arm and it yells in pain as you push it toward Jace.
Jace cuts off one of its legs making a puddle of black blood underneath. Jace's arms go under the demons and he holds it as still as he can while the demon struggles against him. Jace nods at you with a smirk.
You lunged at the demon one last time and cut off its head.
The hallway is now drenched in black blood, and that reflects on your gear.
“Hot.” Jace says to you as he stands up from behind the demon
You shake your head but your smile gives you away.
Jace looks down at the demon's remains and makes a disgusted sound, “How can he not like mu shu pork?” Jace asks
You laugh and walk towards him. The demon's body and blood disappear unsurprisingly.
“That’s what you got from that?” You laugh
“You meet a lot of ugly demons if that's what you’re talking about. But I’ve never heard of one not liking mu shu pork.” Jace answers, his arm going around your waist.
“That’s because you never ask.” Your answer
Jace makes a sound of agreement, “I suppose I should start then.” He looks down at you and smiles, “Breakfast?”
You look down at your clothes, soaked in black demon blood and sweat, “Shower.” You answer
Jace grins, “I like your idea much better.”

Warnings: Food, cold weather, crowds of people, dancing

PICTURES DO NOT BELONG TO ME
The entirety of Beauxbatons was filled with the winter spirit.
Ice sculpting and painting contests had been held and prizes were awarded.
Even though they didn’t get heavy snow at Beauxbatons the castle was still cold.
You had changed from your lighter uniform to the one best worn in the winter.
The ballroom was especially dazzling tonight. Series of piano and violin music was played with the occasional upbeat songs.
Your feet were already sore. You don’t know how long you had been dancing, just that you loved everything about it.
The way your feet moved subconsciously to the song, the feel of Fleur's warm body pressed against yours, the way both of your gowns flowed as the two of you spinned, her hand intertwined with yours, and the way neither of your eyes left each other.
You were giggling as Fleur dipped you part way, pulling you back up so the two of you were chest to chest, the two of you spinned in circles as the violins beat began to go faster.
Letting one of yours hands release from hers you spinned her, moving your hands to rest on her waist as hers rested over your shoulders.
Her smile was bright, she could’ve made the stars jealous. Her eyes gleamed with joy as she looked at you. You smiled brightly in return.
As the song ended the two of you bowed.
“This way.” She said
Fleur was determined to learn English and since you spoke English you had been helping her.
She grabbed your hand and the two of you ran out of the ballroom giggling. Not even noticing the amount of eyes that had been following the two of you.
“Fleur, it is cold.” You said when the breeze outside hit you
“I know, but I wanted to talk to you in private.” She smiled
“About what?” You smiled back
She pulled you in with both of her hands resting on yours cheeks. She kissed you, once, twice, three times. And she pulled back.
“You are coming with me and my family on holiday, correct?” She asked
You nodded, “Of course.”
Her smile only got brighter, “I am so delighted to finally be able to introduce you to the rest of my family, and share my favorite places in France with you! Gabrielle is most excited you will be coming! She likes you, you know.” One of the reasons she loved you was from seeing you interact with her little sister.
You giggled, “I take it you have this entire trip planned out.”
Fleur smirked, “It will be very memorable, I promise you.”
“I believe you.” You said
She pulled you in for another kiss. Only pulling back when cheers were heard from inside.
“Come.” She grabbed your hand
—————————
Your silver platters were filled with the most mouth-watering food. Your glasses filled with your drink of choice, was in your right hand. Your left was intertwined with Fleurs under the table as the two of you chatted and laughed with your friends. Excited for the holidays.

Wish we got to see Delly and Madge in the movies!
I know there a lot of things I would’ve liked to have seen on screen. But one I would put on there is Delly calling out Peeta anytime he’s rude to Katniss.

It’s also just a good parallel to Haymitch telling Katniss to try and be nice to Peeta.
Like Delly and Haymitch were fighting for their lives to save Everlark. Ultimate shippers

PICTURES DO NOT BELONG TO ME
Is it odd to be jealous of a cat?
Maybe, but you’re sure you aren’t the first.
Atticus, an unknown breed of cat that had followed Daphne back to Hogwarts after a Hogsmeade trip in her fifth year. He was a sweet cat if he wanted to be. But normally he didn’t want anything to do with anyone except Daphne.
Which made it difficult when you had to take him for holiday breaks.
Daphne and Astorias parents were quite strict. They would’ve noticed Atticus the second Daphne had stepped into their home.
Which Daphne always laughed about because they only ‘gave a damn’ if their daughters did something wrong. Every other time they were treated like ornaments.
So, you had tasked yourself with taking care of her darling cat every break. Not that the cat was ever willing.
It was one of the many sighs of relief when you graduated from Hogwarts.
After a couple years you and Daphne moved in together. You were ecstatic about moving in with Daphne, but there were certainly some unexpectant challenges when it came to Atticus.
Like right now. You had gotten up to use the bathroom and the cat took your rightful place next Daphne. Curled up next to her like you once were.
You groaned in frustration. You were tired and didn’t want to have to deal with a needy cat.
You remind yourself that it’s your bed. Atticus has one of his own in Daphne's room. You shouldn’t feel bad, the cat gets to snuggle with Daphne almost as much as he wants. Yet, you do as you stride over to the bed with purpose.
You grab the cat gently but firmly so he doesn’t fall from your grip, and march over to Daphne's bedroom. The moment you picked him up he was making loud sounds of complaint. You tried to ignore it as you made down the familiar path towards Daphne's bedroom. You gently plopped the cat on his bed and cracked Daphne's bedroom door. Atticus would be able to get the door open and come running back to your room if he wished. You would just be back in bed before he got there.
When you plopped down on your bed and cozied yourself under the covers, you let out a sigh of victory.
“I could’ve sworn you were furrier.” Daphne hummed, in a sleep laced voice
“Yeah, whatever.” You muttered, snuggling closer to her.
She draped her arm over your waist lazily and peaked at you through hooded eyes, “If you’re jealous of my cat, you’re more than welcome to get your own.” She had a teasing smile on her face.
You murmured out something indecipherable as the warmth of your bed had already pulled you halfway into the depths of slumber.
———————————
Your home was filled with winter tunes. The noise came from your record player, which you insisted on playing despite Daphne's ignorance to the works of a record player.
Tonight, you were to dine with your family. Astoria and Daphne were also to attend.
Since neither girls were in contact with their parents, you opted to have both at your home.
While Astoria was ecstatic at being surrounded by your family, Daphne was less so. She was grateful for your offer, truly she was. But she enjoyed the solitude of your shared home much more.
That’s why, every year, you and Daphne have agreed that she will travel to your home before dinner, and stay for dessert, before the two of you re-enter the comfort of your home.
Daphne only really did it for you and Astoria.
The blonde had practically raised her younger sister herself, and since the brunette was the younger of the materialistic parents' children, she rarely ever was in conversation with her parents.
Daphne was the elder of the two. The crown jewel of the Greengrass name. Her reputation was everything to her parents.
She followed her parents orders to her own expense, only ever finding love and warmth from her younger sister, whom she taught love and kindness herself. Daphne always shielded Astoria as much as she could from her parents' cold souls. She made sure she followed her parents strict orders, only ever acting out in private, tutoring her when her grades were slipping below perfection, schooling her how to be a pretty picture with expert mannerisms without being the center of attention.
Daphne always knew that no matter how hard she tried Astoria had struggled from her parents neglectance and the strict rule of showing only false emotions, and mannerisms.
So, she tried to be better now, where they could no longer be reached by their parents' grasps.
Astoria had always adored and loved Daphne more than anyone. And when Daphne learned to love you, Astoria wasn’t long behind, coming to love you as a close friend and a person of guidance.
You were meant to leave your home soon. Picking and prodding at your attire so that you looked as you wished.
You could hear Daphne's footsteps from outside your bedroom before you could see her. Making eye-contact with her through your mirror (which was littered with many moving pictures of the two of you).
You turn, “How do I look?” You asked
One of the pros of being in a relationship with Daphne, is that she doesn’t beat around the bush. However, this could also turn into a con at times.
Her eyes raked over your frame, her eyes held admiration as she calculated her thoughts.
“You shouldn’t wear those shoes, they’re cheap and uncomfortable. I doubt any charm you used would be able to soften them. Wear the black ones I bought you, they’ll match your outfit brilliantly.” Daphne said
You nodded, she had a point, these shoes were wildly uncomfortable, but you liked the look of them.
You’d save them for a date night, you tell yourself.
Slipping on the shoes Daphne had gifted you not too long ago, your feet instantly felt much better.
“What time should I arrive?” Daphne quested, a few arrivals of clothing and jewelry floating behind her.
“Same time as last year, and the year before that.” You smiled
Daphne nodded, her expression stoic, as usual. Daphne was notorious for having a resting bitch face, your friends had once told you.
“What shall I wear?” Daphne asked thoughtfully, using her wand to move the floating possessions in front of you.
You examined the options before picking out the pieces you liked best.
Daphne nodded, she tapped her wand once and the attire was gone.
“Don’t miss me too much.” You joked, walking over to her for a goodbye kiss.
Daphne smiled softly, and allowed you to place a kiss on her cheek. She turned her head waiting expectantly for another kiss.
You kissed her lips, immediately wishing you weren’t to see your family soon. You would’ve preferred if you could spend all night kissing the blonde. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option.
Daphne may hate social gatherings, but she hated not being punctual more. She believed that if you said you were going to be somewhere then you should be there.
“Don’t be long.” You begged breathlessly.
You stepped back, Daphne giving you a wink before you apparated to your parents home.
—————————————
You were always pleasantly surprised at the familiar scent of your childhood home.
The entirety of your past home was filled with family and friends, drinking, laughing, talking, and of course gossiping.
You’d had your fair share of family members come up to you to comment on ‘how you’ve grown’ or ‘how you look so beautiful’.
You tried to stay clear of the attendants you weren’t close with. Choosing to stick around those you were more fond of.
“So, how’s that girlfriend of yours?” Your grandma asked, patting your thigh affectionately.
As she’s aged she seems to forget more and more.
Your occupation, relationships, and recent travelings were always the topics.
“Daphne's good.” You said
“And what is she doing now?” You grandmother asked
“She’s a court scribe for the ministry.” You answered
Your grandmother nodded, but she doubted she heard you or even processed what you said.
You excuse yourself politely, making your way to the front door.
One tick, two ticks, three ticks…
A polite knock on the door.
You pulled it open, smiling brightly at the sight of your beautiful girlfriend dressed in the outfit you chose.
You said your greetings and then pulled her towards your parents.
“Oh, Daphne, how lovely to see you.” Your mother beamed at her.
“How’s work going?” Your father asked
Neither of your parents made a move to hug Daphne. They had learned throughout the years the two of you had been together that Daphne was not a hugging kind of person.
Daphne answered your parents' questions politely, only stopping when Astoria bounded over to the two of you.
“Daph, you’re here!” Astoria gave Daphne a one-armed hug
Your parents excused themselves politely, knowing this conversation was more wanted between the three of you.
“Yes, I am.” Daphne said quietly in a regretful tone.
Over the course of conversation Daphne wrapped her arm around you subconsciously.
“Rumor has it that you’re seeing someone.” You added
Astoria blushed.
Daphne looked quite shocked, “What?”
“It’s nothing serious.” Astoria reassured her sister, “At least, not right now.” She added quietly
“Since when were you seeing anyone?” Daphne asked
“Relax, Daph.” You whispered
Daphne sent you an incredulous look before turning to her sister expectantly.
“I think you’ll like him.” Astoria said, smiling, “Both of you.”
“Does that mean we can meet him?” You asked
“Not yet. But, soon.” Astoria promised
You elbowed Daphne.
Daphne sighed, “I’m happy for you. Truly, I am.”
Astoria grinned, “I know, Daph.”
Astoria excused herself to go help your mother.
“I think it’s nice.” You commented
“We’ll see.” Said Daphne.
——————————————
The two of you were to leave soon.
Dinner and dessert had been served and it had all been graciously enjoyed.
When games began you pulled Daphne out to sit outside.
“I’ll be right back!” You added, before rushing back into the house.
When you walked back outside, Daphne was sitting in the gazebo in your yard, she seemed to be examining the lights you had hung around it earlier that season.
Her head turned when she heard your footsteps.
She quickly noticed the thing in your hands and raised a brow.
“I was hoping..” you began, nervously, “You’d play for me.”
You handed her the Violin.
“Did you buy this ‘specially for me?” Daphne jokes
“It’s custom made. It’s..your present.” You said
Daphne looked up at you in surprise.
She looked down at the case that held her instrument, and opened it slowly.
The Violin was gorgeous. It matched Daphne's complete persona.
Daphne looked over it, delicately running her fingers along it.
“It’s..so lovely.” Daphne whispered, “Thank you.” She said even quieter.
She pulled the Violin out and placed the case delicately on the space beside her.
“Any song in particular?” She asked
Your heart sped up, “No.” you answered
Daphne stood, positioning the Violin so that she could play.
When Daphne had told you she could play, she mentioned she always played standing up.
You had never physically seen Daphne play, only heard it.
When Daphne hit the first string, you breath caught.
You’d heard both muggle and wizard music in your life. Both were unique and beautiful in their own ways.
Daphne put them both to shame in a matter of seconds.
The blondes eyes were closed as she let her muscle memory do all the work. You didn’t recognize the sound from her violin to be familiar.
Though, none of it mattered as the violins music became more frequent and the lights on the gazebo began to perform to the beat of Daphne's music.
The lights flickered, dimmed, and brightened as Daphne played.
You felt like you were in an alternate universe, being lulled to sleep by an angel.
You were positive that this tune would guide you for the rest of the week. As not only the sound soothed you but the picturesque scene of your breath-taking love.
