ECONOMIC BLACKOUT ON FEBRUARY 28, 2025
TAKE PART & SHARE THE NEWS
If you haven't heard, there will be an economic blackout Febuary 28th, nationwide. This means don't buy ANYTHING unless it's from a small business, and use cash if possible. Don’t buy gas, fast food, groceries, etc. While you’re at it boycott Amazon (cancel that membership), Tesla, Walmart, Meta & X, Ford, HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, Marshalls Néstle, Toyota, Chevron, Boeing (check airlines), JPMorgan Chase, AT&T, Hershey, Sam's Club, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, Applebee’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Chick-fil-A, tampax, old spice, Bacardi Liquor, Tito’s Liquor, General Mills (Häagen-Dazs, Nature Valley, Cinnamon Toast Crunch/Cheerios/Lucky Charms/Cocoa Puffs, Chex Mix, Pillsbury, Bisquick, Yoplait, Hamburger Helper, Annie’s Homegrown, Betty Crocker, etc), Urban Outfitters, Free People, Home Depot, McDonald’s (all lobbyists and/or donated to Trumps campaign).
These lobbyist corrupt corporations & companies only care about money, that’s why it’s so easy for them to screw over the working class with less worker protections, cutting important programs, denying healthcare, etc. So if that’s the case, the most impactful movement is to hurt their pockets. Power in numbers.
Economic boycotts and blackouts, such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and international sanctions against apartheid South Africa, have proven effective in enacting political change by applying sustained economic pressure that directly impacts the target’s financial stability. When supported by widespread participation and media attention, these actions can lead to significant policy shifts, as seen with the end of apartheid and changes in corporate practices influenced by public boycott movements. If 1 in 4 Americans stopped buying from brands like Amazon, Walmart, or Nestlé, or saved money altogether by adopting a “we have or can make this at home” mindset, it could compel organizations and governments to reconsider where and how they allocate resources and contribute to policies, driven by the need to avoid reputational and financial losses. This collective action could disrupt corporate influence on politics, pushing for more ethical and socially responsible practices.
Please spread the word! Thank you!
