and what if i only like the fictional men? what then?
having a real-life, big-girl job stinks, i wanna ride dragons and have sword fights and go to magical balls in big poofy gowns
i am obsessed with tumblr's version of The Secret History. everything yall have to say about the book, i eat it up. but actually reading the book is EXCRUCIATING ive been reading this book for over two months and im only 2/3 done
when you're probably-not-legally listening to an iwwv audiobook on spotify but it gets taken down when you're only halfway done listening <<<<
it took me 4 months to finish reading The Secret History (the reading slump has never been worse) and immediately after, i read AGGGTM in less than 5 days... and it's definitely NOT because i have a massive crush on ravi singh 👀
i just finished gilmore girls (im obsessed) and i need to put these thoughts somewhere, so here you go.
everyone is always talking about rory's bfs, and im team logan 100%. i think he was the best to and for her. he was an amazing boyfriend and, while he had his flaws, i think he was definitely better than both jess and dean. that being said, if i had to pick a favorite character, jess is high on the list. i prefer his character to logan's. and i think it's because his character exists outside of just being rory's bf.
both dean and logan exist in the show solely to be a part of rory's story. all of the character growth they experience either affects or is affected by her. if a person asked "who is dean/logan?", the answer would be "rory's bf"
jess came into the show not as her love interest, but as luke's nephew. we see him do things that have nothing to do with rory. he is his own character away from her. he is liz's son. he is a top notch walmart employee. he is the troublemaker who drew a chalk body outline on the sidewalk outside of doose's. he's the boy who ran away from stars hollow to go find his father in california. he completely changes as a person from the start to the end of the show, and he made those changes on his own, away from rory. does this make any sense?
(this is not at all a rory hate post, i love her and her character. this is simply a jess appreciation)
one thing i think is funny is that, when you really think about it, a lot of heroes in movies aren't really heroes, but simply people with influence (usually someone who has superpowers or advanced tech and weapons) who effed up really bad, and then the movie is them having to work to fix their mistake. but they get called a "hero" because their mistake had world-ending, life-threatening consequences for civilians, and then they fight to make sure that the civilians don't suffer for their mess up.
for example. in megamind, who does the true villain wind up being? titan. and titan wouldn't exist if megamind hadn't created him. however, because megamind fought and defeated titan, he's seen as a hero, when really the problem wouldn't have existed if not for him.
in spiderman: far from home, mysterio becomes a villain because he was screwed over by an avenger. so now another avenger has to fight him to stop him from hurting people. but if it weren't for the "superheroes," mysterio wouldn't be a threat in the first place
in shazam: fury of the gods, literally the whole movie exists because he broke some sacred staff, and now the world is in danger because his actions wound up releasing some ancient gods into the human world.
don't get me wrong, i love these movies (and all the others i simply didn't feel like listing rn) but it's just funny to me to think about. these heroes get praised for "saving the day" but it's the heroes' fault the day even needs saving
why does no one ever talk about how meredith ratted james out ?? girl was hoping to throw oliver's best friend (his brother. his partner in crime.) in the slammer
ive started watching season 3 of heartstopper (im on ep 3) and i am losing my mind over isaac. everyone on the show is obviously dealing with their own problems, and i feel for all of them, but my heart really goes out to isaac. everyone else has someone (tara and darcy, tao and elle, nick and charlie). even imogen and sahar have become their own little duo (and even though they aren't together rn i really hope they start dating by the end of the season). but isaac doesn't have anybody. he's aroace so he obviously doesn't want a relationship but he deserves to have a best friend. he deserves to be part of a duo, or at least have his current friends devote more attention to him. and if he doesn't get a new friend this season i will jump through the tv screen and befriend him myself
someone please please please tell me im not the only one who can't physically tell the difference between charlie and knox in the dps movie. i know the difference between their personalities and when they play a role in a scene i can figure out who's who. but if they just happen to be existing out to the side in a scene, not speaking or doing anything, i GENUINELY cannot tell which is which. when i first watched the movie i paused it a million times, staring at their faces, memorizing their noses, hair, eyebrows, everything and i still can't differentiate them
finished reading All This Twisted Glory and i am CRUSHED,, here is what id like to say
- hazan my man i love you.
- last year i read the first two books. i felt indifferent towards huda then. but after rereading the first two books and then reading the third.. oh how sorry i am. even just rereading the first book i immediately realized how misguided my thoughts on her had been. she is great and i love her. we all need a huda in our lives.
- tell me im not the only one seeing the kamranxhuda setup. i don't know how i feel about their pairing but i am willing to bet money that they wind up together.
- CYRUS' DAD IS ALIVE??? WHAT IS HAPPENING
- i gagged while reading the blood oath scene. when she put on the cloak made from his BLOOD?? i had to put the book down because i felt physically ill. like alizeh WHAT ARE YOU DOING
