It began as you would expect, Daniel did something stupid. It wasn't meant to be stupid, but as most of the time-loopers endeavors, it ended up that way. Was it the will of the universe or was it just pure danielness? We'll never know.
"What is that?" Hudson shrieked when he entered the room, although he would deny this fact till the end of his days.
"I'm not a good Sia." Was the reply he got back.
Daniel stared owlishly at him from atop the crashed crystal chandelier whose remains were scattered all over the floor. An abomination of a neon-green mustache hung only barely from between his eyebrows and he was sporting a pair of squiggly antennas complete with foam eyes and taped on a sparkly pink headband that had seen better days. The smell of cheese puffs clung to him like a bad perfume, sending the blonde into a coughing fit the moment he opened the door.
"What the hell happened?" He finally managed to ask after regaining his bearings and using the fur coat to cover his nose and mouth (it smelled a bit like smoke and snake intestines but he wasn't complaining).
"He didn't kill anyone," Vasco assured unhelpfully from the side while poking at his own DIY eyes headband. "And these do look rather stylish on us!"
"And that's why the oaf didn't get into the fashion department, not that I think he had any business designing buildings and shit." Zack drawled from his seat, looking rather disgruntled with his own bright orange headband (which looked like it had been taped to his head with scotch).
Hudson gulped and took a step back, ramming straight into a blonde boy whose hair covered his eyes and who had appeared out of nowhere. He gulped again. Sure enough, he was adoring the same abomination of a headband, looking quite complacent with the crime against humanity that was his new accessory.
"Uh-" The Sun of Ansan began ever-so-eloquently. "We-we can talk about this guys-"
Before he had the chance to finish his sentence he was tackled from behind by what he could only describe as the second coming of the antichrist. His high-pitched screams echoed through the empty streets of Seoul and into the cold starless night.
--------------
Somewhere a black-eyed man unexplainably shivered. He paused and took a drag of his cigarette before turning to the large window overlooking the city.
"Something just happened."
if only he knew...what a menace to society his new masterpiece would become...
I was wondering about a time loop in which Big Deal takes in Yohan and he trains under Samuel and in which Samuel was female. I feel like Samuel would definitely still be as tall if not buff and pass as masculine, so a time loop where she either stays with Big Deal and Yohan or she helps Yohan with God Dog and his mom.
I just thought it'd be interesting for one of Big Deal's fighters to be female and none of them except Alexander knowing and finding out.
(Mommy Sammy is simultaneously the most unhinged and brilliant idea I've ever been asked about! Like, does she still tear her clothes off when she fights or is that just me being weird? Nvm. Since most of my loops are from Daniel's perspective we'll just pretend he died early in this loop and is currently spying on various people waiting for his loop to end.)
Sometimes Danny wondered if the loops had been made by some unstable maniac. [Shhh, don't expose me!]
When he had stared the loop already dying it hadn't come as that much of a surprise. It was more annoying after you got used to it. That meant, however, that he hadn't gotten to check on anything that might've been changed from the original setting of the loops. He was a bit further back, that he could tell from how small his body had seemed at first.
He hadn't expected to drift towards a familiar street in search of entertainment and do a spit-take with his immaterial smoothie.
"What in my green god-given mustache?"
It wasn't Big Deal's new addition, in the form of one chestnut-haired dog-lover, that had garnered that reaction from the spirit, though it did add to the oddness of the situation. Danny's eyes drifted from the boy currently pummeling some no-name extra into the ground, to the person keeping a watchful eye over him from a little ways away while traumatizing fighting several other people.
Hovering over Johan like a mother hen was a distinctly-not-how-he-was-supposed-to-be-shaped Samuel. The mullet was there, in all its sexy glory, as was the terrifying signature grin and the usual two-piece suit, though it seemed to fit rather strangely on his body-oh! on her body. Samuel was a woman!
She was a buff strong woman and had Danny not been so utterly besotted with his beloved he would no doubt be slightly crushing on her at first sight. As it was, however, he just shuddered at the thought of her matching her counterpart and his apparent eagerness to rid himself of his tops at any possible opportunity and wondered if she were the same. He hoped that wasn't the case.
He paused, looking back and forth between the small Johan and Sammy (that was a good name to call her for now!). His mouth opened in the shape of an o. There was care in her gaze and even, if he were so bold to dare say it, affection. But not the kind that led people to have butterflies in their stomachs and sweaty palms, it wasn't the kind that burned, no, it was the soft type that came with taking a young one under your wing, it was the type that made you want to cherish and protect, the kind that didn't burn, but merely warmed and warded off the darkness. Sammy saw the little copycat as her ward.
Really, speaking from his own experiences, these tiny humans were really easy to get attached to. Hell, he himself had gone through the same thing with the boy in question at one point or another.
Samuel was a person that Danny associated with greed. A man willing to do anything to reach his goals. The sight of his female counterpart being so parental and openly caring for someone that couldn't do anything to further her position and status settled a part of Danny that had always wanted to believe that there was some semblance of good in the former Worker's member.
A tentative smile pulled at his lips as he watched the one-sided carnage fight end and Sammy's eyes instantaneously move to scan the young prodigy for any wounds in a motion that was so familiar to the spirit that his eyes glazed over for a moment. How many times had it been him doing this for a younger version of Johan? He couldn't recall, but the memory left a faded bitter-sweet taste in his mouth.
His soul shuddered with the pull of the loop. It was time to start anew. This time, however, with the peace of mind he hadn't had in a while, that came with the realization that if Samuel was worthy of redemption, then perhaps so was he.
"When these loops end, I will have that peace." He whispered the promise breathlessly, as the fragments of his soul drifted into the breeze.
The hourglass was turned, and the sand started falling again.
Crying, literally sobbing. Chapter 441 is just...I can't believe that he's dead!!! ( TДT)
What do you have against DILFS Tae-jun Park?!
(╥_╥) I'm heartbroken!
Vasco: Who thinks I can fit 15 marshmallows in my mouth? Zack: You're a hazard to society Danny: And a coward. DO TWENTY.
I had an idea for a time loop, but it has more to do with Viral Hit - and if those characters were also in a time loop. It also has a lot of crack in it.
What if Taehoon and Daniel meet in one of the time loops during middle school and Taehoon is new to the time loops, but seeing a poor kid get beat up tugs at him and he decided to help Daniel train.
Eventually he meets Yeonwoo and Dowoon earlier and Dowoon survives (bc I don't want him to die) and he rescues them more successfully this time around. He also makes other friends who do different martial arts and they go around beating up bullies and gangsters
He still does have the 'bully' reputation, but it's more like Vasco's this time around. Cue Daniel actually getting in shape but not looking like a completely different person - like buff and tall with some chub) when he somehow goes to J High and meets Gun and Crystal.
Gun tries to fight with him and Taehoon subsequently finds out his friend student got beat up and decides Guess I'll 1080 kick this guy.
Cue Gun simping for Taehoon and hitting on him and Taehoon actually not hating it - all while Daniel is trying to get with Jay and keep the fighting psycho Crystal's bodyguard away, Taehoon's friends wheezing, and Yoo Hobin company betting on this weird guy's weird flirting tactics.
I'm so sorry for how long this idea was.😭 I just had a crack idea and wanted to share.
(Okay so, I haven't actually gotten around to ready Viral Hit yet, but I did some research and I think I did quite well for myself. Thoughts? Also, love, love, love the prompt, and thank you very much for it. If you have any other similar or different ideas feel free to send them my way!)
Danny, despite all his training and losing so much of his weight, still had baby fat on his cheeks, making him look like a squirrel. That was the first of Taehoon's problems. The second came in the form of one psychotic black-eyed bodyguard currently standing over the fallen form of his young stupid little squirrel-faced minion.
He.Saw.Red.
The motherfucker didn't even know what hit him until his face was plastered on the sidewalk and Taehoon was staring down at him with contempt with one leg still raised in the air. The newly dubbed 'satan's secret lovechild' rose slowly and turned to the brown-haired boy with what could only be described as an utterly filthy look. While outward the boy remained nonchalant he was inwardly squirming with a mix of disgust and worry.
"Gun stop this or I'll have my father pair you up with Goo again." The girl who had watched the whole debacle go down finally intervened when 'satan's secret lovechild' looked ready to pounce (and not entirely in an aggressive fight-y way).
The bodyguard grumbled but complied and got into the driver's seat of the car while Taehoon lifted Danny up by his arm. The smaller boy squirmed as the taekwondo prodigy let go of his arm only to grab him by the ear and begin lecturing him.
"Have I taught you nothing-"
The car drove out of the parking lot and the bickering pair was left behind, although Gun's thoughts kept straying to the strong boy. In the passenger seat, Crystal discreetly shifted closer to the window and tried to ignore the perverted grin on her bodyguard's face with all her might. She did not want to know what weird fantasies he was currently having and she sent a quick prayer for the pitiful soul that had attracted his eye.
Daniel was tiny. TINY!
It wasn't even because the loop had started very early, no, he was in the timeframe around when he would've been in middle school, judging by the date on a discarded newspaper he had found, with the only difference being that he was a toddler. Worst even, his mother was nowhere in sight. He was a lost baby!
His respect for Yenna grew leps and bound once he managed to finally lift his bum off the sidewalk after at least 20 tries. How did babies even manage to live like this? Nevermind, they're babies they don't need to provide for themselves or do literally anything for themselves.
"Uhgggggh" The sound he unwillingly let slip was embarrassing, but encompassed the situation exactly.
'Stupid broken loop!' he thought, struggling to walk-crawl closer to what he assumed was a more populated street, judging by the voices coming from there. 'Maybe I shouldn't have started a cult in the last loop. Or is this a result of that one ritual we were making when the loop reset?' he theorized, unaware of his surroundings due to his limited attention span.
Suddenly he was no longer touching the ground and instead flying. Oh, nevermind, someone (a giant) had lifted him in his hand. The sensation made him slightly nauseous, but he didn't bother trying to struggle when he recognized who the giant was. At least that confirmed his theory of being around when he should've been fourteen or so.
Jerry cooed over the tiny being cupped in his large palms, uncaring of the seemingly cultish robes it was dressed in. If anything, he just thought it made him look even cuter, like a little wannabe wizard. Carefully, like Jake had taught him, he held the baby closer and made his way to Big Deal's street, where he knew his friend would be.
"Did you steal that?" was the first thing a paling Jake had asked him when he showed him the baby?
Jerry was quick to clarify that he had just found him alone on the ground while the girls cooed over him and spoiled him with affection. 'I could get used to this' Danny thought, leaning into the gentle embrace of Yeonhui while Sinu sulked in a corner.
The pretty girl was just patting his head when she suddenly retracted her hand as if burned and let out a large gasp. In the blink of an eye Sinu jumped up and rushed to see what the problem was. In order to be able to better shower the boy in affection she had removed his little hood and revealed a large bruise on the back of his neck.
'I forgot about that' the time-looper grimaced, recalling how his friends had found him as he was performing his last ritual and panicked, thinking he was possessed. The fact he had painted symbols and runes all over his body in blood probably hadn't helped their image of him, and Zack, Jace, Vasco, Johan, Eli, and Vin Jin had all tried to fight him to hopefully knock the possession out of him or something like that. Of course, he had looped back before they could do that, but the remainder of their fight still marred his skin.
The girls began whispering furiously around him, their faces painted with a mix of worry and righteous anger, but he couldn't make out what they were saying. His eyelids began feeling heavier and no matter how much he tried he couldn't stifle the yawn that bubbled in his throat.
"Awwwwwwww" was the last thing he heard before exhaustion overtook him and he fell into the most peaceful sleep he had experienced in ages.
-----------------
"Uwah"
He woke up to see Sinu smiling down at him. Well, that was certainly something! Baby Daniel skewered his eyebrows, trying to recall what had happened before the events of the previous day came crashing in. Right, he was with Big Deal, and they probably thought he was some sort of abused cult orphan.
"Good morning little sunshine!" Yeonhui entered the room with a bright smile carrying a small bowl of what looked like mush.
Unconsciously his baby instincts took over and he copied her smile with a big one of his own, which granted him another round of cooing from both of them. It was official, his baby powers could bewitch anyone.
"Uwah" He pointed to the bowl of mush, ignoring how gross it looked. He was hungry enough to eat a hippo and beggars can't be choosers.
Seemingly remembering the purpose of her visit Yeonhui rushed to pick his food up, while Sinu adjusted his position on the old couch, placing his palm on the bay's back to keep him upright. The girl crouched in front of him and brought a small spoon of mush in front of Danny, who opened his mouth and swallowed it, alongside his pride. The process repeated a couple of times until he could no longer bare the lovey-dovey looks Sinu was giving the girl and felt ready to throw up. When had become a plot device in their romance? He sulked while the man wiped the corners of his mouth with a small handkerchief as his wife-Cough! soon-to-be-lover cleaned the dishes.
After breakfast, the two paraded him around the street with the pride of new parents showing around their child to their neighbors and family. He was cooed over, his cheeks were pinched, and he confirmed that the entirety of Big Deal was just a bunch of softies, with a few exceptions, Old Face and Samuel. He was sure to throw them one of his fiercest glares, but the latter seemed to only take this as a challenge, thus making it his life's mission to win the glaring contest against the two-year-old toddler that hung onto Sinu like a koala.
'Whoever put Samuel on babysitting duty needs to get their paycheck retracted!' Danny mentally screamed the day when, instead of waking up to his usual caretaker for the day, as the schedule they had pointed and glued to the wall dictated, he opened his eyes to see his second-least-favorite person in the crew. He checked the schedule and sure enough, today was Jake's turn. Following his gaze, Samuel let out a dry chuckle.
"Jake's too busy to take care of you today, beasty." He announced with a smug smirk, that quickly turned into a grimace. "So he asked me to do it instead."
Neither expected to enjoy the ordeal as much as they did. By the end of the day the scornful 'beasty' had turned into somewhat of an endearment, and Samuel learned why none of his daily caretakers would ever let the boy out of their arms. There was just something weirdly amusing about having the brat nod his little head in agreement when he scolded people for being stupid and sometimes even cheering him on when a more 'hands-on approach' with other rival crews or troublemakers was needed. Despite how tiny he was, the little beasty was never frightened of him, even when he had one of his maniacal episodes and left behind a bloody pile of bodies with his signature deranged smile. Yes, the tattooed man conceived, the brat was somewhat tolerable. And if his name suddenly appeared on their weekly babysitting schedule, no one commented on it.
------------
It was late in the evening, but Danny didn't seem to be able to fall asleep. They had read him stories, and played with him to tire the boy out, and even had Yeonhui sing him to sleep. It didn't work.
"Something's wrong, he always falls asleep after she sings to him!" Sinu told his boys, combing a hand through his hair worriedly.
Before the two had a chance to reply a blonde barged into the room A man with black hair and sunglasses followed him in, looking just as cocky and exuding the same aura of danger that made the three males step in front of Yeonhui and the baby protectively.
Gun's eyes landed on the woman holding the baby, and he gave a derisive snort pointing at her. The trio bristled at his gesture, slipping into defensive positions. Goo's smirk grew impossibly wide.
"I suggest you take the baby out of here. Wouldn't want it to see something...traumatic."
"Him." Jake spat in reply with such vitriol that a lesser man would've cowered, motioning the woman to leave.
Danny panicked as Yeonhui made for the door, knowing that even with their forces combined they couldn't win against the maniac duo. He began struggling and wailing in her arms, reaching for them, trying to get her grasp to widen enough so that he could escape. The kind girl shushed him, trying to cover his view of the men with one hand while whispering reassurances that they would be alright.
'They won't!' Daniel tried to scream back 'You don't know these two! They're going to break them and take them away! They're going to hurt them...they're going to hurt my family...' His hopelessness and desperation began shifting into a bone-crushing rage, and the boy flung himself one last time, startling her enough so that she accidentally let go of the boy.
Daniel flew through the air, landing on a mope of blond hair before he began pulling at Goo's hair and hitting him in the head with his tiny fists while spitting insults in baby language. If they could understand what he was saying he would surely lose dessert privileges for the rest of his life and get a long lecture on top of that. As it was, however, everyone flew into a panic as the blonde fell onto the ground from the full force of a feral baby slamming into him, before struggling to rip the little imp off him. His little hits were surprisingly strong, Goo would later recall, strong enough that after a few minutes of struggling onto the floor, Danny came out victorious, with the blonde unconscious on the floor.
Sinu quickly scooped up in his arms, half dead from worry and bursting with pride at his little display, before he remembered the other male was still in the room. He tightened his hold onto the baby while turning to glower at the ravenette, whose hidden gaze was burning holes into his young ward. Gun may have done nothing but watch the whole "fight", but there was nothing to indicate that he wouldn't harm the child in retaliation.
"Now that was unexpected!" His smirk only served to send the four further on edge. "You have potential, kid!"
Danny snarled audibly at him, bearing his little canines at the grinning maniac. Gun made to take a step towards him, taking off his sunglasses and revealing the black sclera and white irises below but stopped dead in his tracks when the toddler's snarl depend and his eyes switched to match his own. It was a warning, but one that only made the child more interesting in his eyes. How could an infant such as him even master UI so young? He seemed completely in control of the technique too, which made the whole situation even odder.
'You're interesting, brat." He told Danny, ignoring the growls it incited from his guardians as he picked up his partner's fallen body with a final promise. "I'll be back."
The tension in the room didn't ease at least a full half-an-hour after the man had left, at which point they all just flew into a frenzy of checking their baby for injuries of any kind. Satisfied with finding none but a few tiny bruises that were thoroughly kissed away and covered in spider-man bandages, the men shifted to praising the preening boy (even Samuel gave him a proud smile before he quickly wiped it off so that no one else could see it) and planning for how to proceed when the two inevitably returned.
Danny listened to them from Yeonhui's lap, savoring the prize of his victory, a melon flavor Power Cap (ice cream?).
Yes, he liked his new little family, he concluded as the sun rose and bathed the street in the light of a new day.
[This might be part of my AU but I haven't decided yet so...Enjoy! And thank you @leekeira for the prompt! Also, I think you can tell I had a lot of fun with this one :) ]
The darkness ahead was familiar to him. Whenever he looped there would be a period of rest in the inky abyss, while the next loop was prepared for him to enter. It had taken a bit to get used to, but now he was no longer bothered by having to wait like an immaterial little ball of something. That was what his soul looked like, he had concluded. It was actually kinda funny to try to move around and change his shape, like trying to shape hardened honey, he never could stay in one shape for long, but it was fun to try nonetheless.
This time, however, his space wasn't empty. Intruder! was the first thought that flared in his mind, but he quickly stumped the irrational anger down. This was something that had never happened before.
Tentatively, he reached towards the glowing blob hovering a little ways away from him. It flinched away, but that didn't deter him from trying to touch it again. A small blue tendril brushed across the little green light. Warmth bloomed over Danny's soul in a way he had never experienced before, and he quickly retracted the tendril. If he would've been able to speak he would've tried to interact with the strange new soul in a way that would probably allow him to gather more information, but as he was there was nothing he could do but touch.
The surface of the blob rippled like a puddle, and Danny watched fascinated as the little soul tried to clumsily gather a portion of itself and reach toward him. The motion strangely reminded him of a child trying to imitate its parents.
Before he had the chance to prod and poke more at the newcomer, the world exploded in light and he found himself laying on his bed like a starfish.
"Well, that was new..." Danny rubbed at his forehead, already reflexively looking around the room, trying to spot a calendar.
Instead, his eyes settled on a picture of him and a person he didn't recognize. In fact, when he tried to look closer at the framed picture, the person's face seemed to be blurred, alongside with any distinguishing features.
"What the hell?!" He rubbed his eyes until they stung, but nothing changed.
This loop included what he could only guess to be a sibling, whose face he couldn't see for one reason or another. He gave a long-suffering sigh. Brilliant, that was exactly what he needed, an anomaly! As if looping through different versions of his life wasn't weird enough anyway.
"Daniel, come to breakfast!" His mother's voice came a bit muffled from the other side of the door.
It was going to be okay. He would just act natural. It wasn't like having a sibling was so odd, besides, they couldn't possibly have their face blurred out like that in real life.
...
Good news: he could see their face.
Bad news: whenever he tried to remember it got blurred again.
So not really the best situation, but at least there was no way to lose them in a crowd when they kinda had a cloud for a head.
Apparently, they were just as bewildered as him, judging by how they tried and failed, to hide little slip-ups and awe-filled looks sneaking in his direction when they thought he wasn't looking. Just plain brilliant!
Danny made a mental to-do list as the tree ate the most awkward and fake family breakfast in history. Interrogating the new sibling was at the top of said list and he was already planning on how to proceed with it after eating. They had a lot of explanations to give, and he would make sure to squeeze every single bit of information out of them.
----------
He could understand dimensional traveling. Weird name his mind could process but his mouth couldn't say like "(Y/N)" (he just defaulted to calling them Wynn) was stretching it, but still understandable. Finding out that he was a fictional character from a webtoon series that was currently looping through time at the behest of a deranged fanfic author was what sent him over the edge.
Worst of all, for whatever reason, he believed them.
Danny downed all the alcohol he could get his hands on that night. It just wasn't worth trying to process that sober.
---------------
They figured out a system of sorts. Now, if only Wynn could stick to that bloody system FOR ONE DAY!
The menace that was his little sibling was not only an apparent magnet for trouble but also somehow got themselves stuck in the loops with him. Daniel began debating the merits of a vacation after the third person he had to stop from hitting on them and seriously considered murder after the eight. Whatever shitty dimension-time traveler aura they had attracted the worst types towards them, including but not limited to his schoolmates, various gangsters, and several unsavory characters the likes of Gun and Goo.
At least they were supportive of him and Jay, going as far as to explain to their increasingly bewildered big brother about the entire fandom that had been created around their relationship. They called it a ship, and named it Janiel?! The looper was hovering between mortified and oddly satisfied. In a weird way, it pleased him that people saw a fictional him and Jay (with who apparently he didn't have an official relationship in this webtoon????? Like?!?!) and decided 'yes, these go well together and we will now worship this pairing'.
The mind-fuck he got from learning that didn't disappear for a few weeks when Wynn revealed yet another concept that sent his brain into overdrive so hard he almost completely forgot about 'Janiel'. (He also almost got into an alcohol-induced coma because of it, but I digress.)
AO3 Lookism smut. Online...steamy...pieces about his universe...
That was another wild WILD ride that he didn't care to repeat.
Once was already too much. Twice was beyond cruelty. Thrice...thrice was not meant for the human mind to comprehend.
So when you have to do it a thousand times and then some you become rather desensitized to certain things that could make others writhe.
That's how Daniel found himself looking up at the paling faces of his friends, vaguely aware that his body wasn't supposed to be able to bend that way. There were tears, of course, pleading for him to say awake, to hold on until the ambulance arrived. The worst part though was the reassurances, because both parties knew by that point that they were just wishful thinking.
Like, no Zack, I just got hit by a truck going over 200 km/h, I'm not going to be okay! The bloodied boy tried to voice these words but they only came out as strangled moans, which elicited more sobs and, to his everlasting indignance, shushing.
"Nnnghn hngh!" (Don't shush me!)
"It's going to be okay."
"Mnghnh mnmnth nghgh ghngfngh mnghnghhtt! mnggggg hnghnght mthght." (Vasco, I adore you but I'm literally twisted like play-doh and I think I can feel my bones trying to escape my body and form their own army for world domination!!)
"Shh, just hang on."
Danny shot him a dirty look, though he had to guess which one of his friends the bald white egg shushing him was. Probably Jin, he had always been a little bitch like that. If he squinted the alien-like thing looking down on him was pretty similar to the dumbass.
"Mhnh mgthhhhh-." (Bitch if you shush me one more-)
"Shhh" Zack placed his finger on his lips, before quickly retracting his hand and massaging the bite marks on his pointer with what was supposed to be aggravation. The tears and snot running down his face ruined the image.
Finally, through the constant ringing in his ears, Daniel could distinguish the sound of sirens. People shuffled around him and someone tried to get his attention, but their voice turned to mush in his ears. He threw one last look at his friends and reached towards Jay through the paramedics.
"Mnh nhghn Macarena mngh." (Bae, you need to play Macarena at my funeral!)
And with that, the world went black. Then white, then black again. Then he came upon himself, literally.
"They did a pretty good job with my body, you can't even tell that half of these are missing" He poked at one of his limbs, his translucent finger going right through it. There was no bone, just a metal rod kipping the arm in place.
Danny shuddered and retracted his hand as if he had been burned. No matter how many times he ended up as a ghost it never got less weird touching things. He shrugged and floated upwards, passing through the lid of the casket and angling his body so that he no longer felt like he was lying down. Gravity didn't apply to ghosts, so getting his body to sit straight was really tricky until you got the hang of it.
The venue was pretty packed, with people balling their eyes out. They were all dressed in black and looking at a picture of him smiling that had been propped on a stand near his casket. In the front row was his mother, at whose appearance he cringed.
It never got easier seeing her so utter;y devastated, but that was always the way it went when he died, his bigger body would vanish without a trace, and his smaller one would remain, lifeless. His eyes scanned over the other people at the venue trying to get the image of her dull eyes and sunken cheeks out of his mind.
Next to his mother was his beloved jay. Oh, how he wanted to wrap his arms around the boy and wipe those tears that never stopped rolling down his exquisite face! Instead, he caressed his darling's cheek lovingly, making the boy shudder at the feeling of sudden coldness. He didn't dare linger, unable to bare the heartbreaking sight of his lover's grief.
If Daniel had been drinking he would have done a spit-take right then and there. (Was it disrespectful to spit at your own funeral?)
Nestled between a sobbing Crystal and a mostly-unbothered Kouji was Diego Kang himself, having a whispered conversation with an ashen-faced Gun. The latter must've taken the death of his masterpiece and the subsequent disappearance of Daniel's bigger self as quite the blow. 'He did waste a lot of time training me and seemed very eager to get taller me to be his...something, whatever that was...' the boy mused, making his way across from them and to the audio system. He didn't have time to ponder such things. He was a ghost on a mission.
Possessing humans was rather simple if tiring, but messing around with electronics had always been a favorite of his whenever he ended up as a wandering specter. The speakers, placed strategically in the four corners of the room, simultaneously crackled to life, startling the people in attendance, before:
Dale a tu cuerpo alegría Macarena Que tu cuerpo es pa' darle alegría y cosa buena Dale a tu cuerpo alegría, Macarena Hey Macarena, ay
Dale a tu cuerpo alegría Macarena Que tu cuerpo es pa' darle alegría y cosa buena Dale a tu cuerpo alegría, Macarena Hey Macarena, ay

Danny: Would you like something to drink? *He opens the fridge* We have water, milk, juice, spiders, Dr. Pepper- Eugene: Spiders? Danny: Spiders it is then. Eugene: No, that wasn't- * But he was already pouring him a brimming glass of spiders…*
Random person in J-High: Hey, Daniel? Can I get some dating advice? Danny: Just because I’m with Jay doesn’t mean I know how I did it.
18-year-old Daniel sprung out of bed and ran out of his home, still in his pajamas. He ran until he reached the gates of J High, then up the stairs and burst into his classroom like hell was biting at his heels. The room was empty save for one boy that always got to school early.
Jay rose from his seat, concern painting his delicate face and Daniel froze in his tracks, eyes roaming for any injuries he knew logically weren't there. He had to make sure- He had to!
"You're okay!" He breathed a sigh of unbearable relief, the with of the world now gone from his shoulders.
Jay regarded him momentarily before nodding and stepping closer to the panting boy as if to pressure him that he was alright. He didn't expect that the moment he got within reach Daniel would grab his arm and pull him into a desperate hug that he melted into. The boy's hand lingered around his neck and Jay wondered if he could feel the skin beath his touch grow warmer, thankful for once that at least his face was buried in the other's chest so that he wouldn't see him blushing. The blond waited for Danny to finish checking for whatever it was that had him in such a state, noting that with each place he searched and found unblemished his shoulders would sag more, until bit by bit he relaxed entirely.
The baffled but relieved boy cupped Jay's cheek and brought his face up and close to his, taking in the sight of him like a starved man. Finally, he gave one last sigh and angled his head so that he could rest his forehead on his. He simply reveled in the moment for a bit, pretending like he didn't hear the blonde's sharp intake of breath, before pulling back.
"I'm sorry if I scared you...I think I just had a nightmare," Daniel rasped, unwilling to cause him even more worry. Gods, I must've lost my bloody mind or something! Jay just gave him a gentle smile and nodded understandingly before motioning for his desk.
The repetitive rhythm of tic-tac-toe allowed him to contemplate that morning's events. He had acted irrationally, there was no doubt about that, but the situation hadn't left much room for cold logic, not when time had once again dripped in reverse just as he and his crew had lost their lives.
The first time it had happened he had cried out joyfully, thinking that was his second chance. Only, it hadn't turned out as he had planned. He still ended up dead, but this time he hadn't been the only one. Daniel closed his eyes and envisioned the bloody bools in which the broken bodies of his allies, his friends had laid. His stomach churned at the memory of their cold dead eyes straight right through him and the pencil in his hand snapped.
"Ah, sorry!" He distractedly apologized to his friend, who shook his head to indicate that it wasn't a big deal. Danny let his head fall onto the table with a soft thump. "I think I'm a bit more out of sorts than I realized, sorry about your pencil Jay!"
The boy reached, at first hesitantly, and pat his head lightly as if to say it didn't matter. Daniel leaned into the touch, prompting him to begin gently playing with his hair until he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Danny had, in fact, not fallen asleep just yet. He pondered more so than he had the first time how time travel worked and how it was possible that it happened twice [Oh, boy! You have no idea!]. Undoubtedly, he was thankful for this chance to right his wrongdoing. The first time he had awoken two years in the past he had been rash, eager to save people he had no business saving and in the process losing those he shouldn't have lost. The memories haunted him, but that was good! This way he wouldn't forget. This way he would never make the same mistakes twice. This way he would learn to be cautious, even if it had to be drilled into his bones!
Daniel Park made an oath to himself that autumn morning, that he wouldn't repeat his mistakes and that he wouldn't lose anyone this time. To his credit, he stuck to it. He lived a long happy life surrounded by those dear to him and put an end to any unsavory activities that could harm them. He was a hero...too bad heroes never get a happy ending~
18-year-old Daniel sprung from his bed...and froze.
It hadn't worked.
He was back.
Why was he back?!
[Daniel Park is 18 by Korean standards and 16 by U.S. standards but I used the former in this.]
