This has made me think of a fic I read where part of the plot was who Leon is. And the author said that he is the family’s hope.

So even after the entire apocalypse, where he kept up the fight and tried to keep everyone’s spirits up, when he and his hope are finally dying

Casey and his baby brother come in as fuel for that flickering flame of hope. They shield it, power it, fuel it.

F!Leo didn’t seem to fade until he was taken out of his brothers’ bandanas. He thought that was it, his brothers must be gone. There’s no one left to care about. And then he’s suddenly held by someone unmistakably his baby brother, and he lets himself hope just that little bit more. To not fade immediately.

Leo is the light of hope in the family. But he needs his family just as much as they need him.

Idk if I’m over analyzing, but GOODNESS I love the writing behind this comic!!!!

While I think you're right and expressed it beautifully, I want to add one thing.

Leo's death is not the only time I intentionally and consistently used colors.

I am a dragon similar to an owl, but bigger (owl wings, feathers, claws, additionally sharp teeth inside of my snout/beak, I have long tail tipped with feathers) I love rocks :3
