Jon doesn't want to die. he thinks he should die, which is a feeling that's followed him since he was eight. he goes through most seasons with the air of someone who fully believes they're about to take their rightful place in the grave, and he's terrified of it. there are some attempts in s4 where he tries to convince himself that he either wants to die or thinks he shouldn't, but I don't think any of it truly sticks. everything he's lived since he was eight has been with time bought by the death of someone else. and he's going to die, it just hasn't happened yet!

then the apocalypse happens, purely because he just hadn't died yet. he should have, but he didn't!

then he meets Annabelle Cane for the last time and learns that he was, in fact, never meant to die. at least not until he does everything the web planned for him.

The thing about Jonathan Sims is that he isn’t at all stupid, in fact he’s quite the opposite.

Take the Coffin for example, the idea of using an anchor is a logical and honestly quite clever one, however, where this idea falls apart is that while Jon may be intelligent, that does not mean he has common sense, or any sense of self preservation for that matter, and so he goes straight to cutting off his finger, and then continuously trying to cut it off despite the fact his body’s healing factor is clearly winning here.

And then, to top that off, he immediately decides the next reasonable choice of an anchor is his own rib, and actively gets not one, but two of his ribs removed by the walking embodiment of body horror.

Jonathan Sims is not stupid, but he is stupidly impulsive and should not be trusted with any actual plan ever, because while his initial idea may be the most ingenious thing you’ve ever bloody heard, I promise you he is going to ruin it with the most unhinged, god-awful follow up known to man.

not sure about what the consensus on tone indicators is but personally, aside from maybe like /s (sarcastic) and /ref (reference) i don't think they're all that necessary

like ?? most of them can't convey anything more than what using your words can't do already. Many of the abbreviations also mean something else in different contexts which counterintuitively makes communication even more unclear (ie, pos meaning both "piece of shit" and "positive", etc).

that and they operate under the assumption that everyone knows what each one means (especially with more sort of obscure ones like /nf, not forcing or /nm, not mad)

being more clear with your words also just reads more genuinely, eg,

"can you help me study tomorrow? /nf" vs "can you help me study tomorrow? it's fine if not :]]"

"your eyes are really big /pos" vs "i love your eyes !! they're really big n remind me of my cat :D"
