i worked on this for way too long (5 hours 💀) I really wanted to do some nice rendering idk why it's just satisfying

couldnt make out some things like the colours and small details cuz your image was a bit messy/dimly lit but I hope that's ok

i def made the colours more saturated than they really are but that's mostly a conscious choice because I love bright colours

sooo glad i've been focusing on posing and anatomy for the past half a year I'm no longer intimidated by anything more than a bust and in fact I often try to include more of the body

i'm gonna be so prepped for artfight i'm ready to get at least a thousand points

no background because... uh i hate backgrounds so much I only have animals and backgrounds left to sorta master I hate that at least in the past I could practice drawing faces or hands or something but I've basically gotten that all down

crazy that just a couple months ago I couldn't render hair at all

pattern was a pain but thats my fault because I REFUSE to just copy and paste cuz then it looks weird and doesn't really cling to the fabric

this was my first design of puma guy (technically second, one day I will share the handmade cat plushy OG version) erm... it's not very good lol, also from an artistic perspective... ngl find it crazy that this was less than a year and a half ago I improved like crazy!! also I couldn't draw buff people we don't talk about it I distinctly remembering him looking less weedy when I actually drew him idk

the space pattern sucks ew i've really stepped my game up on that too, face is also janky I was still slightly in my anime phase

messy lineart works but like... this is just messy and not in a cool way

its so washed out my art is so saturated now compared to this, this looks like a watercolour version where's all the pink my boy is PINK

shading is ehh i remember loving the skin and pants but it looks pretty flat and the blue... i didn't know what I was doing with that

i HATE the mouth idk it makes me uncomfortable

man it's so crazy to look at my old designs BEFORE I came up with distinct hairstyles for them

he looks like such a generic anime boy it's kinda funny

the basic things that changed is that he looks older, has curlier hair and looks a bit sleepier but I actually do tend to stick very closely with my original designs (even though I've created some of them when I was really young)

sometimes (most of the time) i look at my old art and just think... why?? why that neck? why the legs?? why that chin? why that hair?

the lineart is a bit... rough in places

man i drew WAY too hard wtf i can see all the erased lines why did I press my pencil so hard

dont be discouraged if your art looks like this currently, you will get to where you wanna be, I know I sure did, and a few years is actually quite short to make such a large improvement

ngl i see a lot of artists always draw crazy hair colours but... i went to a Chinese school lmaoo there was like one blonde person in my class and everyone else had black or brown hair, my environment is def reflected in my old art especially

tbf the annotations do help me draw them in present day because they give me an idea of the character's personality and anything I wouldn't be able to make out by looking at them, but... still

FINALLY something in my art style!! if you're wondering why a lot of my recent art is completely different art styles, it's because i match the simplicity of whoever's character im drawing, cuz i dont feel like i could take a simple design and draw it realistically with accuracy

however the original design of this dude is in fact very realistic so im able to match that realism

i know i've already said this but i just LOVE the blend brush man this painterly style is sooo good i feel FREE

also erm this was my FIRST SKETCH how is it so good i just cleaned it up a little and coloured it, maybe i gotta be more loose in order to get better at art, also i didnt use guidelines lol... i literally never use guidelines i just trust that i can see good enough

some of these look... kinda crazy but also some of them look good but I feel like that's pure accident

i think i've mentioned this before... but here is the FIRST depiction I've ever made of puma guy. i kid you not this is his original first design (I always intended him to be a human but I feel like a lot of the design elements for him make sense once you see this lol)

it's... its really bad ok theres a reason i draw instead of sew, obv pattern is not mine but I made this in a sewing class so if anyone knows the original pattern let me know, mine def looks warped compared to the original tho

honestly it was literally just for fun I just chose cloth patterns I liked, but who would know it would lead to this..

literally dont look at the stitches its all hand sewn I didn't use a sewing machine so its really uneven and janky

his shirt is literally a square piece of cloth that's kinda folded on the edges I didn't put any effort into it

i literally finished making this plushy and then I just had a vision flash in my head of him looking super cool... literally all my character designs come from just... images that pop into my head spontaneously

imagining his reaction lol

this actually looks fine even though i literally played badminton for 1 and a half hours straight and my arm hurts and is so weak rn
