Inktober 2018 Day 30
“Jolt”
Second to last one yall. While inktober was fun, man it was hard to keep up. I’m Just glad that I found a way that allowed me to do every day, because if these pieces were on bigger sheets of paper, heaven knows i would have only been able to do one day with how detailed i can get.

Just some updates of the Beastie I've been working on. I'm so close to being done it hurts. So close. This guy's has been a fun project and learning experience in using ink, so I'm excited for my next project, which is even more detailed. Art © Ari Mortensen
A guy I made when I first received my anatomy books. I must say that the ribs and intercostal muscles where great fun to draw. It was with this piece that I realized that normal 2B pencils can't really get the darks I am looking for. I can also say that this is when I realized that sketchbook paper should not be used for more serious drawings, as it's way too flimsy. Oh well, live and learn.
Three guys are for a creature design project I'm working on in school. Gonna be painting and drawing them at large soon. I'm really liking this concept though!! Also, I'll be trying to post more often here instead of just doing reblogs, so stay tuned.
My mother keeps telling me that snakes can't and won't love us back like, let's say like dogs or even cats. Can you show me some loving spaghetti? Pls, I need this.
I recommend reading this post I wrote on the matter, anon! And here are some of my favourite cuddly snake pictures.
This piece (my baby) right here is my pride and joy of my 2016-2017 school year. She took about 50 hours trying to get the right shades for the fur and greens surrounding the bull, but I would do it again for the pay out. A lot of the reason why it probably took so long though is that the watercolors I was using were crappy, but I didn't want to switch out in the middle of it or risk inconsistencies through the piece in the watercolor texture. So I just made do and struggled with the watercolor paints that I had. I had to use some shades of acrylic paints in order to get the vibrant colors that I wanted, like greens and yellows, and some white for the fur, along with using india ink to get the darks I wanted. Most of it was done in watercolor though. Ah well, live and let learn yet again. This one was most definitely a learning experience.
I decided that I will start going through my entire sketchbook that I got 5 months ago. I’ve grown quite a lot from when I first got it, so you will all probably see my art style transforming and getting better. I’ve focused mainly on getting more detailed. Also due to all the stealing of art on the web, I’ll only be posting with some sort of watermark. Sorry😤
Edit: Sorry for quality of photo. Using my phone camera which sucks so.....
So for all those who know next to nothing about me: I love bugs. Specifically preying mantis and dragonflies cause they are badasses. I’ve been feeling a little bit of art block lately with drawing humans and doing more experimentation into color and digital art, so I wanted to go back to my comfort zone for a bit. This is the result after looking at a whole bunch of “creepy crawlies” that I love so damn much. I will probably add some lazy colors to this at some point just cause I’m starting to somehow enjoy the struggle of it?? Nothing better than a little pain and suffering right? Inktober 2018 Day 11
“Cruel”
It’s not nice to chew with your mouth open. Neither is it nice to eat someone before they are dead. Ever seen those videos where hyenas are eating their prey alive? Yeah.
