It started, as so many things in Jessica Jones’ life, with a cheating scumbag of a husband. Cases like these were a dime a dozen, and almost always turned up the same result. No woman hires a P.I. if the relationship is perfect. Or even, you know, functional.
Jessica, for her part, probably should not be judging these people. She herself has managed to fuck up every hint of happiness that ever came her way. The best relationship she’s ever had was with her victim’s widow. Still, she judges.
The difference between Steve and Tony in CA:CW will always boil down to this:
Tony stands up to authority because he was born into immense wealth and privilege and has never had to answer to anyone. He defies authority because he knows he'll never have to face actual consequences for doing so.
Steve stands up to authority because he was born into poverty and grew up a poor, disabled Irish-American during the Great Depression. He defies authority because he knows what it's like to be dismissed, undervalued, and disenfranchised and never wants anyone to face that.
Tony pushed for the accords because he knew he could just break them and nothing would happen to him (which is exactly how it went down).
Steve refused to sign the accords because he would never sign away his human rights and the rights of other people to an authority he knew would abuse them (which, again, is exactly what happened).
So in a way, they were both right about the accords. Tony was just also infinitely more wrong.
Sometimes I remember it's Canon that SHIELD isolated Steve alone in a cabin surrounded by a laser fence for at least two weeks at some point soon after he came out if the ice and I just want to *scream*
black panther au where everything is the same but instead of martin freeman it’s alec hardison pretending to be cia for a con
Vintage Leverage. The post-war economy boom provides many advantages for soldiers coming home and their families, but it also increases the number of companies, as well despicable individuals, who prey on innocents. Veterans who were promised education and business loans, but fell victims to scams; women losing their jobs on false pretenses; families robbed of insurance money. They had no one to turn to, until a group of former soldiers assembled an unusual team specializing in recovering compensation for their victimized clients. Staging elaborate cons, they provide… leverage.
even just in the platonic sense the steve bucky dynamic has so untapped potential that marvel continuously lets go to waste by letting them say one line to each other per movie. srsly tho!!!! these bitches are early childhood friends. they legitimately know everything about each other. they’ve seen each other at high points low points what the fuck pal??? points, they know every embarrassing story by heart, they must have so many inside jokes, nothing is weird for them. they can be brutally horribly rudely honest with one another & get away with it. They fight , physically and verbally, and will knock sense into each other. or!! on the flip side they come up with the stupidest shit and get each other in trouble on purpose. the interactions are endless and unique and marvel is ridiculous to not make use of this. their default emotion/friendship setting is not pain!!!!
