remus lupin and poppy pomfrey had a special kind of a relationship. the closest resemblance to it would have been mother and son, both nurtureres, taking care of each other, although in different ways.
when she saw him for the first time, she knew that, deep within him, deep within the shell of a 'monster', that had been created around him, there was a little boy who needed to be understood and taken care of.
and that's what she did. every single full moon she'd come after him and tend to his wounds as well as she could, and when she saw him smiling in his sleep, she knew she had done her job right.
she loved remus. such a bright, charismatic young man that some people would reduce to just the wolf, who was so utterly different from what he truly was.
•
and now he was older, but just a little bit. so was she.
bruised and battered, both of them were, but remus was still the heart of a teenager in the body of an adult.
he was just another kid that had to grow up too fast, just like the kids around them were. kids that had to fight so that they and their families would get out of the war alive.
when she saw him she jumped into his arms; his name falling off her lips.
"you're safe, remus! you're still alive!" she hugged him tightly, just like his mother would have.
"i'm paying you back." remus said quietly, a smile on his face.
and they fought antonin dolohov side by side, wands in their hands, determination on their face, just like they once did in a dark alleyway in london. the two of them, quite the pair, some would say.
green flashed before poppy's eyes and remus' body fell at her feet, limp.
her world shattered. she saw dolohov running outside, looking for someone, she presumed.
he had been only thirty-eight. the boy that she had taken care of, every single month, was now dead. the young boy with a scar across his nose that had turned into a caring young man was now gone.
remus' turn had come, and hogwarts' children died one by one.
what's ur fav food
sirius xD
dorcas and remus ducked as the house next to them, tall and gorgeous, blew up in pieces, chunks flying over their heads. remus was pressing on his stomach, thick, dark red, blood oozing between his fingers, and dorcas had a nasty, black bruise forming on their cheek.
they were hiding behind an old, worn-out apartment block, next to the trash cans, the smell coming out of it was nothing, insignificant, actually, compared to what had happened prior. the building, which had once been a home, was in pieces, and the dark mark, grotesque, the serpent and the skull, was hanging above the ruins.
they were ambushed. they were expecting a simple patrol down in surrey, but what hadn't crossed their mind was over twenty death eaters, and just the two of them. they had no backup, just the two of them, twenty-one years old.
"quick, hide in there, remus!!" dorcas pointed to the broke down factory, on their knees, shouting over the sounds of horrified screams and things collapsing around them with heavy thuds, casting a protecting shield around them. "the factory's two minutes away from here, and you're hurt, remus, it's not safe!" they wheezed, clutching their ribs in pain.
"cas, you're hurt too," he hissed, "come with me, just do it. quit playing the hero again, this is a life and death situation. you're going to die if you stay here."
"can't you see, remus?" dorcas let out an ugly hoarse laugh, spitting blood on the pavement. "i'm bloody dead already, it's only a matter of time until the bastards take me down entirely. and we've caught tom too. go, sirius is waiting for you home."
remus bit his lip. "we're waiting for you too, cas..." he trailed off, hoping that, merlin knows how, they'd convince them to come with him.
"i'll see you on the other side," they said, squeezing his shoulder one last time and, going straight into the battle, that night in surrey was the last time remus had ever seen dorcas.
