dear USAmericans,
VOTING WORKS!!!
French people showed up, French people voted, turnout was higher today than it has been since 1997, and we kicked the far right to 3rd place
a week ago, the far right was the biggest party in France, we were slated for a far right parliament, prime minister, and government
this week, we voted against them en masse and we won!
VOTING WORKS!
you're up next in November! it's very rare we get to say this, but this one time, take example on the French! show up and vote!
because VOTING WORKS!
I wanted to try my hand and doing a realistically proportioned design for Moria whilst still keeping him a fat old man, haha. I rather like him.
I would never slut shame, I only slut encourage
And in contrast to the far right reaction, here's the moment leftists found out the result:

What cracked me up is that they were 100% getting ready to protest/riot at the anticipated far right win.
Ah yes, Barricade Day. When the entire Les Mis fandom rises up gloriously and then dies back down again in thematically appropriate fashion.
I'm fascinated by the way that the french manage to put their frenchness in everything they do. From the art to the way they'll design tram lines, every time I see something that makes me think "hmm, this has french vibes" and look it up, it's french, by a french designer, creator, builder, photographer, etc. Like you can't picture the most french possible way for something to be before you see it, and once you do, you'll just think "yeah, that's about what I should have expected." The most french possible way to light a cigarette, or train a dog to do a trick.
This one time me and my boyfriend were at his parents' place, with the TV on in the background, and showing some quirky detective show. It was in french, with an overwhelmingly white cast, but there was something about it that kept scratching my brain. Not in a negative way, but making me go "hmm" nonetheless. Not quite like uncanny valley, but close. Turns out the show was Belgian.
Much like the uncanny valley is about the unsettling feeling of seeing something that looks exactly like a person, but lacks the spark of something that would make it human, I was experiencing the fascinated feeling of witnessing something that was entirely in french, but had an uncanny absence of frenchness.
im so normal abt sibling relationships in media i swear
