Because, for some reason I can't comprehend, pretending that I'm a zoo keeper caring for an animal (which is also me) just makes everything easier to comprehend. Like "Your head gets screwey when you're apartment is messy" just doesn't carry as much resonance as "The tiger becomes agitated when its enclosure is cluttered" because then I'll be like, no shit? Bakugo could never stay awake during movies.

It was a problem for him, genuinely. The amount of times he’s fallen asleep, and grumbles in annoyance when you tell him the movie’s over is truly staggering. It’s not that he wants to miss the action, he’s just so exhausted from being… well. Bakugo, that when the end of the day comes, and you’ve got a hand buried in his hair and a blanket tossed over you both, he never stands a chance.

And it’s a ritual at this point, merely part of your daily routine. He comes home. He showers. He curls up against you, and before the movie’s rising action can start, he’s out cold.

And nine times out of ten, you’re more than willing to stay, scratching his scalp and watching Bakugo’s handsome face twitch and lax with each detail of dreams…

But today? The one out of ten? You’re fucking hungry.

You so wish you’d eaten before you decided to be his snuggle buddy for the next few hours, knowing he’d already had a bad enough day and you leaving to have a snack would only disturb him further, but if it wasn’t you slowly leaving the warmth of bed, it would be your growling stomach.

Okay. Slowly now. You pinch the arm that’s tossed over your waist and slowly lift it up, slipping from under the appendage and out to freedom.

Once out of his warm embrace, you quickly scurry to the kitchen for a sandwich- heavy enough to get through the night, but light enough where you can quickly eat it- and a quick look through of your phone so you can update your friends and family to be officially his for the night.

And it seems to all go well! He’s still knocked out, as you assumed he would be after such a long day, and you’re just about ready to bite when-

“…the hell in the fuck are you doing?”

The voice makes your eyes wander from the brightness of your phone screen, to the culprit himself, standing in the hallway with sweats low on his hips and a blanket wrapped around just the top half of his torso. He knuckles his tired eyes, his lips in a sleepy scowl, and god he looks so snuggly you want to bring him straight back to his warm bed and let him sleep off the day.

But your rumbling stomach would never allow that.

Stopping your staring, your teeth hover over the sandwich before coming down to a biteless close, and you look at him with a clear of your throat, “I’m… eating?”

“You left the bed.”

“Yeah, because you don’t like crumbs-“

“You left me in the bed.”

You blink at him in complete confusion, trying your hardest not to laugh in his face as he growls deep in his throat, “you left me alone in the bed, to make yourself a sandwich!”

“Well I sure as hell wasn’t going to wake you up,” you snort, watching as he struggles back a yawn to continue his ‘threatening’ look. “You were tired babe, I didn’t want to disturb you.”

“Well… well I didn’t like not knowing where you were,” he grumbles. “And when I pat the damned bed and it was empty, that was an even worse way to wake up.”

All an elaborate way of saying ‘I didn’t like that you left me and our cuddle time.’ You could’ve sworn he’d only be mad if you’d woken him up in the process of leaving, but that’s very clearly not the case. When a loving grin spreads over your face, you know he knows he’s been figured out, and he crosses his blanket-covered arms and avoids your gaze. “Awww, Katsuki-“

“Don’t even.”

“Did you want me to-“

“Fuck off.”

“Stay and snuggle?” His words of empty threats do nothing to deter you from finishing your sweet coo, which he scoffs at while you slowly pull out the chair next to you for him to sit in. “Baby, you know I’d never leave if I knew it would make you upset!”

“It didn’t make me up-fucking-set,” he growls, but he does let his long legs carry him to the chair next to you, plopping down sleepily while maroon eyes struggle to stay awake. “It’s the principle of the matter- you leave, you fuckin’ tell me where you’re going. End of discussion.”

You snort and shake your head at his words, finally taking a bite of your sandwich and thus, ending the conversation. Despite his efforts, he doesn’t look half as mad as he thinks he does, lips pouty and cheeks a titch flushed from your affectionate words and the last remnants of sleep being pulled from his soul.

“For what it’s worth,” you hum, slowly tugging his chair closer to yours, which he instantly rests his head on your shoulder when he’s close enough. “I always want to cuddle with you, too, stinky.”

“Quit it with your stupid pet names,” he grumbles. “I am a man, and I find it disgusting the way you are able to make my heart race.”

“Of course you do,” you agree with him to relax his protests, turning your head to kiss the fluffs of hair that adorn the crown of his head. “Let me finish eating, then we can go nap for real.”

He grunts, a pouting language for ‘fine,’ before he lets you eat in slight peace, just without the use of your right arm which is now being held hostage by his own two limbs.

“C’ I have a bite?” He mumbles, opening his mouth expectantly, as if already knowing you’d say yes. You chuckle and bring the sandwich to his lips, which he bites softly and chews slowly. “‘fank you.”

“You’re welcome, my love.”

“Gross.”

your voice tended to get lost in groups sometimes.

your friends were quite... loud, at times. rambunctious. it was difficult to be heard whenever you wanted to say something. you didn't blame them, not really. they were so energetic all the time that it was only inevitable that someone like you—soft-spoken and significantly quieter than them—would get drowned out in the face of their fast-paced enthusiasm.

to their credit, they didn't exclude you intentionally. they did remember your presence and they often did their best to get you to contribute to conversations. but, well, they didn't always.

not that you were particularly incensed about it. you were new to the group anyways, it was only natural that they would forget you were there from time to time.

overall, though, you thought yourself lucky to be able to settle in so easily with their friend group. they were very accommodating and nice—you couldn't recall a single moment where they made you feel like an imposter. they'd adopted you into their lives like you were a stray cat on the streets and you couldn't find it in yourself to be ungrateful.

currently, you were sitting in the apartment of ashido mina, having been invited to one of her get togethers for some of her classmates from her high school days. you were familiar with most—if not all—of them by now and had been warmly welcomed into her home to catch up with their exciting lives.

you sat quietly on the fuzzy pink ottoman ashido had and sipped at a drink she'd made for you that bubbled down your throat. around you, multiple conversations were occurring as people had sectioned off into little circles for the time being. you were partially included in one of the circles closest to you and listened on as kaminari denki chatted with a few others about one of the more recent missions he'd done.

"yeah, i didn't realize the villain had smashed my shooter until it was too late!" he sighed dramatically and shook his head. "i'd fully brought it up to nail him in the face, too! imagine my surprise when it didn't shoot out any of my disks! i was almost outta charge at that point, i was so desperate..."

"bummer, man." sero hanta grinned in that familiar way of his. "aren't you supposed to be a pro? how you get caught slacking like that, dude?"

"i don't know!!" kaminari almost wailed. "i almost got squashed by his quirk but lucky for me, ei was there—"

"i'd always take a hit for you, man!" kirishima eijirou said as he clapped his friend on the shoulder with a smile. "did you send your shooter to hatsume?"

"yeah, i dropped by her shop yesterday." kaminari then pouted slightly. "she almost beat me up for it. i told her i was sorry a million times!"

"oh!" you perked up slightly and opened your mouth to add in your own story. "that reminds me of when i—" but your voice got drowned out when kaminari started talking loudly about hatsume always messing with him, and you found yourself clamping your lips shut to avoid talking over him or getting overpowered.

you instead resigned yourself to taking another sip of your drink. and that was when you suddenly heard a low grunt to your right.

lounging on the loveseat ashido owned was bakugou katsuki, glass in hand as he stared at some random point to his left. he looked like he didn't want to be here—like he didn't care—but you knew it was all just for show. he tended, like you, to sit to the side and simply watch to the people around him. it sometimes gave you an odd sense of camaraderie with the man, even if you'd never had a proper conversation with him before.

his ruby eyes swiveled in your direction when you looked at him and he raised a singular pale eyebrow at you. "you were sayin'?" he said in a rough voice. "m'listenin'."

you stared at him like you were a goldfish—eyes wide and mouth agape—then smiled lightly and scooted closer so you could continue your story.

and you learned that bakugou katsuki paid attention to those around him. he paid attention, and he listened.

because he cared.

he picked up on little things that most people wouldn't, his sharp eyes quick to analyze and assess. he wasn't particularly fond of being the focus of a conversation and rarely put himself in that position. he did add his two cents when people expected him to—when they looked at him for his input on a certain thing or when they teased him to get him to say something, anything. but he much preferred to be on the outside looking in. after all, it was quiet there.

he was tuned—even if it didn't seem like it—to his friends' emotions. he was the foundation that they could stand on, the glue that kept them together. he wasn't good with words, but he was good at sitting and listening. and contrary to what others believed, he didn't mind it, either.

he occasionally gave solid advice, too. advice you never knew you needed to hear.

"don't be afraid t'speak up," he grunted at you one day when it was just the two of you. "your words matter." you matter, went unsaid.

you used to think he would get annoyed easily at having to listen to people ramble all the time. but he didn't—not when it was someone he trusted, someone he was close to. it was just another thing you hadn't expected from loud, explosive bakugou katsuki. another thing you kept note of and stored away in a little box to keep.

and as you chatted with him happily, watching him listen to you attentively as though every word you said was important, you couldn't help but to smile at him warmly.

Bakugo:

Bakugo usually tends to call you by your name or Babe in public but in private he likes to call you Queen Explosion Murder to make you laugh, or sometimes his Eternal Flame during more intimate moments.

Midoryia:

Midoryia likes to opt for more light-hearted nicknames such as Honey Bunny or Baby in front of your classmates, and My love or My Hero in private. He believes that you save him from himself and keep him optimistic.

Kaminari:

Denki likes to show you off whenever possible, calling you Sexy Thang, Foxy Lady, Babe or Hot Stuff in front of his friends. In private, he prefers more tame pet names like Princess or Baby Girl. But his favorite thing to call you is his Little Lightning Bug.

Sero:

Like Denki, Sero likes to be a bit flashy when in front of a crowd, opting for Babe, Sexy, or Princess, but likes to call you his Gwen Stacy when it’s just the two of you, in reference to his love of Spiderman.

IIda:

Todoroki:

Todoroki doesn’t like to call you by any nicknames in public, as he sees it as informal, but he does like to walk up behind you and call you his Little Snowflake from time to time.

Mineta:

Mineta, the pervert he is, likes to call you his Sex Kitten in public even though he hasn’t gotten that far yet, but in private he likes to call you Peanut Butter. He says that you are the peanut butter to his grape jelly.

Mirio:

Mirio isn’t subtle when it comes to anything, and with nicknames, he’s the same way, yours and his, tending to embarrass you in front of company by saying things like, “No, not right now, Babygirl,” followed by, “Because Daddy said so.” if you protest, all while grinning his usual grin.

Tamaki likes to can you “Sun” in reference to his hero name because you are the sun that keeps his world spinning, or so he says.

Shoji:

random class 1-A headcannons

-mina makes edits of everyone in class 1a, mostly todoroki because his get the most views on tigtog (if you don't know that's the canon version of TikTok in the mha universe)

-mina, deku, and jirou are blasian

-sero is Hispanic Asian mix

-kaminari is asian American

-aizawa and present mic are dating, but they keep it a secret from the students, they're incredibly obvious with it tho but class a just pretends to not know so they can keep that sense of privacy in their relationship

-this is the same for bakugo and kirishima, they have crushes on each other but are terrible at hiding it, the only people who don't realize they have a crush on each other are themselves

-todoroki is super light, like just weighs nothing, so if given the opportunity anyone will just pick him up and carry him around, kirishima loves doing this

-todoroki doesn't even mind cus he doesn't have to walk

-he has a tendency to fall asleep on the couch so if anyone sees him they'll carry him to his room, it's basically an unspoken rule that if you see a sleeping todoroki, you must take him to his room

-todoroki thinks he's going crazy whenever he wakes up in his room but is sure that he fell asleep on the couch, he now thinks he sleep walks (he doesn't)

-uraraka does however, and this has left chaos in the dorms, she's scared the shit out of kaminari who snuck downstairs for a midnight snack, she's made tables float in the common room, etc.

-nobody knows how to prevent it so they'll just come downstairs to a mess every once in a while

-iida and bakugo both have ocd so they'll clean up the dorms together twice every week, they're surprisingly close and will just calmly talk about things while they clean up

-tokoyomi, jirou, kaminari, bakugo and momo like to play music together, uraraka and mina like to come watch them

-they have sleepovers in the common room whenever aizawa let's them, he says he has to supervise to make sure they don't get into trouble but really he just wants to hang out with them and make sure they stay safe

-aizawa loves his class but would never admit it

-on anyone's birthday, they'll have a big celebration in the dorms and have a movie night and sleepover in the common room

-bakugo tried to hide his birthday from everyone but deku "accidentally" said happy birthday in front of the whole class, they threw him a party and this was the first time bakugo actually enjoyed his birthday

-mina has a huge photo wall with polaroids that her and hagakure take, they each have their own camera and they trade pictures like Pokemon cards

-they watch a lot of try not to laugh challenges, todoroki always wins only because he doesn't understand anything and is just left confused

-if anyone wants to film a video they ask todoroki to do it, one because he holds the camera really steady, and two because they film the dumbest things and his reactions are so funny

-he just stands there watching with a mix of concern and confusion on his face

-iida is the class dad and momo is the class mom, both of them are always making sure everyone has everything they need, have their homework done, has eaten breakfast, etc.

-whenever they go to the store they keep todoroki right by them, he has a tendency to wonder off and get lost, he'll frantically text the group chat and say he doesn't know where he is, proceed to describe his surroundings, and someone (mostly iida) will come find him

-they gave up on letting him walk around on his own so they put him in the cart, todoroki doesn't mind tho

-when it comes to paying for the groceries it's always iida, Momo, kirishima and bakugo offering to pay (uraraka slowly backing away from the conversation)

-if todoroki hadn't fallen asleep in the cart he'll just silently get up and pay with endeavors credit card without anyone noticing

Interesting Present Mic's quirk analysis! :D

Been thinking about Present Mic's Quirk a lot lately and I actually found some evidence to suggest that his Quirk is a lot different from how we normally think about it.

His Quirk is listed as an Emitter type and a lot of people seem to portray it as him simply being able to amplify his voice or make sounds with his mouth that create shockwaves to attack his enemies. Very similar to someone like Black Canary of DC Comics fame. But the thing is, I don't think that his Quirk really has to do specifically with shockwaves, and I don't think that his Quirk works with just any old type of sound that he could potentially make with his mouth.

His Quirk is called "Voice." Rather than thinking of his Quirk as an amplification Quirk that makes his natural voice louder, I think his voice is his actual Quirk, and I think he can adjust the output of his voice in both directions: both low volume and high volume. It's just that speaking at a volume quiet enough that a normal person can't hear it isn't useful for attacking villains, so we only see him using his Quirk to be loud.

But the name of his Quirk isn't the only evidence I have for this theory. There's also the fact that he was born with his Quirk. As a general rule, Quirks tend to manifest at the age of 5 in most children and the only time you really see exceptions to this rule are with mutant or mutation type Quirks. For instance, Ojiro and Iida both have mutant type Quirks. They were given extra body parts by their Quirks and they've had these extra body parts since birth, even if they didn't know how to properly utilize them (Ojiro's tail and Iida's engines, for example).

Mutation Quirks aren't exactly the same, but they're similar. Mutation Quirks are often extremely powerful Quirks caused by gene mutation. They seem to manifest out of nowhere and are usually Quirks that aren't passed down to them from their parents like other Quirks are. Mutation Quirks sometimes manifest earlier than 5, such as Eri manifesting her Quirk between the ages of 2 and 3. This is also the case for the glowing baby, who had the first Quirk ever due to some kind of gene mutation and had glowing skin from birth.

Hizashi has had his Quirk since birth, and it's stated in the introduction of his Quirk that he made the ears of his parents and the hospital doctors bleed with his first cry. If his parents had similar Quirks to him, wouldn't they have anticipated something like that and been able to wear noise-cancelling headphones or something similar?

Just to use Black Canary for comparison again, she can mimic sounds and she primarily creates shockwaves by screaming or whistling. Most people portray this as being the same for Hizashi, but we just don't have any evidence to support the idea that he can mimic sounds or that he can whistle to create shockwaves. We've seen him whistle in canon before but never while using his Quirk at the same time. In fact, the majority of the time that he's using his Quirk, he's talking while doing it. Talking at extremely high volumes rather than simply yelling or screaming

One of the only times this pattern is broken is during the war arc, where he does actually just scream to break all the Nomu tanks. But even at that, him yelling and screaming still utilizes his vocal cords whereas something like whistling does not.

The last bit of evidence that I have for this theory is the fact that in Vigilantes, it's shown that Aizawa can use Erasure to silence Hizashi's voice. No, he's not just canceling out any volume amplification, he's LITERALLY erasing Hizashi's whole voice.

Hizashi was speaking at a normal volume in this panel, but his voice gives out entirely while Aizawa in the next panel over has his hair floating, the tell-tale sign of his Quirk--as well as a smug grin on his face.

This would suggest that, like mutation Quirks (such as Ojiro's tail and Iida's engines), Aizawa can erase the function of Hizashi's Quirk even though the body part is still there. Meaning that Aizawa erased the function of his vocal cords, though the vocal cords stay intact. If Hizashi's Quirk was simply that he could make his voice louder, then Aizawa would only be able to cancel out the volume but not necessarily Hizashi's voice as a whole.

So, I think "Quirk: Voice" should be taken literally! I think that Hizashi's voice IS his Quirk and that he has crazy control over his vocal capacity with both the ability to make his voice loud enough to shatter eardrums and quiet enough that the normal human ear couldn't hear it. The latter ability could certainly have its own uses. This also might lend to the possibility that if he can change the volume of his voice, he might be able to change pitch, tone, and other aspects of his voice with ease. He might be able to mimic other people's voices or change the sound of his voice at will! Wouldn't that be an interesting piece of information, especially in regards to a young student who just got moved to the hero course...?
