Headcanon that Merlin started to learn how to paint and draw to keep Arthurs image alive. With time he gets better and better. He learns new techniques and makes more and more portraits of Arthur. It´s the only thing he ever draws. Nothing but his king, but still every piece is a different scene. Once Arthur rises again and gets to Merlins home... he finds a big collection of his own face and his life and just... ugh
