I thought I'd skip ahead and work on Episode 2 for a bit (specifically Jail Break), but I've got a question for you, readers.
Is there an official name for the prison at Cotton Mouth Bluff? The one where Tennessee (and later, the boys) gets locked up in? If not, I'd love to hear name suggestions.
If you must know, the mission Jail Break contains a bit of a deviation from canon (aside from Penelope now being on the rescue team). The boys are being held in jail separately. Our three heroes (Penelope, Tennessee, and Carmelita) are going to split up to save them. Penelope's going to free Bentley, Carmelita's going after Sly, and Tennessee's stuck with Murray.
I'm thinking about how they're all going to pull this off, starting with Penelope freeing Bentley. The only catch with Penelope's part is I don't want her just using RC vehicles. She's going to actually fight guards. She'll start by picking a guard's pocket to get the key to Bentley's cell, then... she'll clean house.
Why is she doing it this way? She's trying to show Bentley she's not a helpless damsel. Spoiler alert: It works.
So, since Murray calls Penelope "Sis", Does that technically make her and Jing sisters?
I'm not planning on shipping Murray and Jing.
It's not off the table... I just haven't planned anything for them yet.
Really dumb of me to ask but like…you think Penelope just has cheese lying around Holland/Maybe the safe house for “totally landing purposes. I don’t drag these into the safe house/my castle and lie awake at night eating it questioning my life chocies so far.”
Penelope lying on the futon Bentley set up for her at the back of the safehouse after wolfing down a barrel of gruyere, questioning if this is what 'women in STEM' means
I honestly and truly believe all good AUs should be a little “”””ooc”””” in the sense that good characterisation involves understanding that changes a characters backstory and circumstances will have an effect on how they respond to the world around them
Good characterisation isn’t about creating a perfect 1:1 canon replica it’s about understanding why a character is different in your work and about grounding the changes you do deliberately choose to make in canon character traits
Episode 2, for context. This happens just before Cooper For Hire.
Bentley's a bit overprotective, isn't he? And you can't blame him. His girlfriend did run off on her own last episode... The fact that she's also being targeted by kidnappers doesn't help, either...
He does agree to her request, though. Mainly because Murray's also going to be there.
I gotta say. Sometimes it's way more fun writing memes for my fanfiction than actually working on it.
Da Gang
And here's what I've been focusing on...
I don't know. You tell me how to write anything that goes on in that geisha house. And Rioichi's dialogue.
My solution is to find stuff for Penelope to do in the background so I don't have to worry about anything Rioichi does. And it's perfect because at this point in the story, Penelope's not exactly going to be a team player yet.
I don't dislike Rioichi. I just don't want to write for him.
Oblivious Guilt Slinging at its finest. With a massive splash of Becoming The Mask. And it keeps going until Le Paradox reveals her secret during All Rolled Up. In case you forgot, that's the tail end of Episode 5.
You knew he'd try again...
And maybe zoom out to reveal Sly and Murray also not amused...
Well, this was a wild election year. Please excuse me while I continue onward with rewriting Thieves In Time...
