MAJOR SOTR SPOILERS

I feel like most stories I've seen that tackle the topic of propaganda always show the dangers of it in a similar way. They show blatant displays of violence that are hidden away from the people

But in Panem, violence is the point. So how does SOTR show the dangers of propaganda?

A) They cover up The Capitol's incompetence. (D12's Reaping, The Tribute Parade, Louella's death, Lou Lou being a real slap-dash solution, Haymitch being able to break parts of the arena, tributes finding and killing low rank game makers in the arena)

and B) Erasing any memory of the solidarity between the districts, and the strength it gives them. Mainly in the way Haymitch's games were edited to erase the Newcomers- an alliance between EIGHT DISTRICTS. (Some might say it failed, but a lot of those kids survived longer and were a little less scared because of it and that matters.) And by making Haymitch seem like he's the victor because he only played for himself (aka that's the only way to survive-forced individualism)

My Hunger Games Playlist

AKA songs I'd love to make animatics to but that requires SO MUCH time that instead I just daydream what it'd look like

I Bet On Losing Dogs by Mitski- Obviously I'm not the first to say this, but it's a very Haymitch song (at least to me) specifically about him being a mentor

Yeti by Paris Paloma- The tragedy of Katniss and Gale's friendship falling apart because it IS a tragedy that makes my heart hurt when I think about it too much. They were each other's safe place to be children and now that's gone forever.

From Eden by Hozier- Finnick's POV about himself and his relationship with Annie throughout the years. The song sounding so upbeat but the lyrics being so hopeless (but not about her) and self deprecating is very Finnick to me

Eat Your Young by Hozier- Honestly this one could just be an anthem for Panem, specifically through President Snow's POV

Pale White Horse by The Oh Hellos- This song sounds like its straight out of the books tbh. It'd be Katniss's journey throughout the books, specifically through her relationship with President Snow.

Curses by The Crane Wives- Katniss and Peeta growing back together but still trying to process the trauma of everything they've been through while living on the mass graves of everything they've ever known.

I’d just like to acknowledge that South Africa wouldn’t have such a strong case without the work of the journalists, both alive and martyred, on the ground in Gaza supplying the world with firsthand information about the genocide and that they deserve thanks for it.

Doomed Found Family my beloathed

My father was martyred by Israel on 10 October 2023 after sacrificing his care in hospital so the injured children could take priority. Today would have been his 60th birthday. He was always selfless, kind, and giving for others. My father gave up everything for me to be able to have a better life, because that is what he always dreamed for me and my sister. The world suffered a great loss when he died, and my heart is always with him and every Palestinian who has lost someone.

In his honour and memory, I would love for anyone who is able to do so to consider donating to The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

The PCRF is an amazing organisation that does so much for those in Gaza right now, including helping provide food, water and medicine. You can donate any amount you are able to- there is no minimum! My father would have given his very last cent if he saw the way Palestine was continuing to suffer after over 100 days with this limited aid, so I know celebrating him by helping others is the least he would have wanted.

I saw @parrot-parent do a very successful donation match and I thought it was such a good idea so I will also match all donations up to $500! If you feel comfortable sending me proof of the amount of your donation, I will match it as a donation at the end of February. Please wear a KN-95 mask, and wear layered nondescript clothing and cover your face/hair! I have seen many people use keffiyehs for this. People will be recording and taking pictures!

Dress for cold weather but know marching warms you up quickly, so dress in layers you can remove and carry without uncovering your face and hair. Ideally you should bring a backpack to carry food, water, first aid, ID, etc. It may be good to bring multiple or removable parts of your outfit if you plan on walking from your residence or car.

Even if you are unable to attend, please reblog and repost the graphics to other social medias to get the word out. You may have a follower or friend who can attend.

If you live outside of DC or Central London: talk to your local organizations! They may be able to organize transportation to this event. For buses to DC, you will likely have to pay a fee, but it is probably going to be cheaper and safer than driving to DC and parking in their $40-$50/hour parking garages. Also look into Amtrak, Greyhound buses, trains, or other means of transportation.

Genuine question: Do you think there's anything like social media in Panem? Obviously not in the districts, but like in The Capitol. And, if so, what do you think it'd be like?

I little while ago I drew what some of the Victors might have looked like when they won their games and made myself very sad in the process

I feel like we get so used to their adult versions we see in the series that we forget they were all children too.
