THIS
I think there is a scene in Goblet of Fire that people don’t talk about enough. It’s the one where Draco gets turned into a ferret. Everyone knows how it goes. Moody gets mad at Draco for “attacking” Harry while his back was turned, and turns Draco into a ferret. But people don’t talk about the fact that it all started because Draco and Harry got in an argument, like they always do and the latter ended up insulting Cissy. After that, Draco gets mad and draws his wand while Harry begins to walk away. But here is the part that doesn’t make sense to me:
Draco didn’t actually hit Harry with his spell.
Harry describes it by saying that he felt something graze his cheek, causing most people to think: Oh well, Draco missed, so what?
But something about that felt off, so I started to wonder.
We know that Draco is at the top of the class, right bellow Hermione, and has been raised with magic all his life. Because of these two things, we can safely assume that he is good with spells, and has a good aim. Definitely good enough aim to successfully hit someone standing literally right in front of him. So why did his spell miss Harry?
The conclusion that I came to was that he didn’t miss at all.
And honestly, I think it’s the most reasonable one, if you look at the facts. But with this conclusion also comes the question of why Draco would miss. I am a hardcore Drarry shipper, but I made sure not to be biased while I was looking for a possible motive behind this (something I don’t usually do). The thing is, I couldn’t think of one (1) heterosexual explanation. Not one.
I mean, if you have the “straight” POV then this is what you’re working with:
Draco is extremely loyal to his family, and he doesn’t like it when someone insults his parents.
Harry is his enemy and Draco hates him or so he says, therefore he shouldn’t have any reason to hold back.
Draco had the perfect opportunity to get back at Harry for what he said about his mom.
AND YET FOR SOME PERFECTLY UNDERSTANDABLE AND TOTALLY REAL REASON, HE DIDN’T.
Versus the “Drarry” POV:
Draco has secretly liked Harry since they first met at Madam Malkin’s
At the beginning, he hated himself for it, but after some time and lots of support from Pansy he slowly came to accept it.
Narcissa had been the only person to support him when he came out to his family, so he had grown closer to her over the past few years.
When Harry has the nerve to insult Cissy based on things he doesn’t even know, Draco becomes furious.
As Harry begins to walk away, Draco draws his wand, ready to shoot a spell at him, but he stops short.
No matter how hard he tries, he can’t shut up the voice telling him that he should put the wand away, that he cares too much.
He realizes he can’t hurt Harry.
But he also can’t let Cissy be insulted like that.
So he does the next best thing.
He purposefully aims away from Harry, and makes sure the spell won’t actually hurt him, leaving it be just a threat. An empty threat, but Harry doesn’t know that.
And the rest is history.
If anyone can give me a hetero explanation for this, I would be more than interested to hear it. (Sorry if this is confusing)
YES! this. this is all i need

After 7 years of angsting over the fact that he couldn’t put his damn hand in Potter’s damn hair, Malfoy is certainly going to indulge himself.
