Cats đ đââŹ
Bokuto getting injured, and having to take a month off to recover- decides to do his pt in Tokyo, and crash at his boyfriend Akaashiâs house. With him he brings the mangy street cat he forcibly adopted from a dumpster, Kuroo. Akaashi isnât thrilled- he already has a cat of his own, a spoiled, pampered, rare male calico named Kenma. Heâs nervous about them getting along, and it was a little touchy at first- Kuroo was quick to take a liking to Kenma, but Kenma took a bit longer to come around to the larger black cat.
Soon enough, theyâre thick as thieves. Akaashi is baraged with photos of them cuddling together, grooming eachother, and one video of Kuroo bringing Kenma a gift of a dead mouse that Akaashi quickly begs Bokuto to get rid of.
Then, they start getting a little too close. Kenma is acting weird, shoving his butt into Kurooâs face and yowling at him.
âIâve never seen them cuddle like this beforeâ Bokuto captions a video of what is clearly Kuroo mounting Kenma. Akaashi is spiralling; can cats be gay? Why was Kenma acting like that? Kuroo he gets, the bastard pain in his ass will hump anything and everything. But he was assured Kenma was a rare calico male, the breeder said so when he got him a few months ago. He just said heâd have to wait a few weeks for the balls to drop. How long was that again?
A quick trip to the vet confirms it, he had misgendered his damn cat. Now theyâre expecting kittens.
âIâm too young to be a grandpa, Akaashi!â
I C O N I C
Sometimes it's like... did you even watch the episode? In Sam's case he really wasn't given an option- he's a man, has had some training, killed a White Walker before, and therefore absolutely must be out in the battle. If you'd paid attention to Edd's line as Sam shows up into formation, he says, "Oh for fuck's sake, you took your time," implying that Sam was supposed to be there. He wasn't given a choice. If he had, he'd gladly would have been in the crypts- Sam's a self-actualized coward. So yeah, sucks that Edd died while protecting him, but the toxic masculinity of Westerosi society put Sam there, not himself.
I canât believe that people are still trying to call Sansa useless or cowardly for going to the crypts. When in fact what she was being was unselfish and smart.
Noncombatants being on the battlefield is cute, and all âgo warrior! Youâre so brave!ââŚ. up until the point that you realize that the actual combatants are therefore going to have to ignore their own safety to protect these noncombatants. Especially if these noncombatants are Important People, and the combatants have a duty to see them safe.
The reason that Jorah got killed? Was because Dany, a noncombatant without her dragon, was on the battlefield. Full stop. He literally took the blow that killed him by being in front of her. Had she not been there, his chances of surviving would have exponentially increased. Now obviously she didnât fall off her dragon on purpose. But still. The point remains.
Sansa realized that she would be putting people in danger if she stayed on the battlefield, and so she put her selfish wishes to be there for her people aside and went down to a place where she thought she would be safer and no one would have to defend her.
And when it became necessary, she was even ready to defend herself, if need be.
So just leave her alone, sheâs been through enough.
DAGMARA BRYZEK - JADWIGA OF POLAND (Korona KrĂłlĂłw)
Sheâs around 18-20 in the series, but if youâre looking for an QITN or Lady of Winterfell vibe, you canât go wrong with her!
So I donât know about anyone else, but Iâve been having a hard time finding age-appropriate actors in period costumes when trying to create any content that doesnât feature the actors from the show (not that I donât love them all, just sometimes a change of pace is nice). Thatâs particularly true for characters whose book and show counterparts are significantly different in age. I thought Iâd start putting together some resources for fancasts that are reasonably accurate to book descriptions, particularly after I saw the incredible Sansa Stark resource put together by BookSansaDaily.
So yeah, letâs start with Arya:
âNine years old at the start of A Game of Thrones, Aryaâs appearance is more Stark than Tully, with a long face, grey eyes, and brown hair. She is skinny and athletic. She is generally regarded as plain, as exemplified by a nickname âArya Horsefaceâ, and is often mistaken for a boy.â (x)
RAFFEY CASSIDY - YOUNG SNOW WHITE (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN)
Raffey Cassidy was roughly 9 years old when filming Snow White and the Huntsman. The costume design is appropriately medieval, and Iâve found it a particularly good resource because of the number of clips where Raffey looks disheveled and/or tomboyish. Best for AGOT and pre-ASOIAF content.
ANNA MAGUIRE - YOUNG DANIELLE (EVER AFTER: A CINDERELLA STORY)
I canât find an accurate birthday for Anna Maguire, but given that she played a 9-year-old character two years after this film, I feel confident placing her at 7-10 during the filming of Ever After. The film is set in the Renaissance rather than the Middle Ages, but Danielleâs clothes are still reasonably appropriate. As with Snow White and the Huntsman, this is a good resource for both AGOT and pre-ASOIAF content, especially since it contains footage of Anna Maguire looking both put together and covered in mud. Sheâs not as long-faced as Arya should be, but sheâs got the appropriate mischievous energy.
IVANA BAQUERO - OFELIA (PANâS LABYRINTH)
Panâs Labyrinth is set in the 1940s, well outside appropriate ASOIAF timeframes, so Ivana Baquero is best used for stills and closeups. However, the scene in which she faces the toad (pictures 1 and 4 here) has her filthy and in reasonably time-neutral underclothes, so Iâve found it useful before for the period when Aryaâs on the run with the Nightâs Watch or the Brotherhood. Ivana was 11 when filming, so that puts her at a more appropriate age for later novels.
ANUK STEFFAN - HEIDI (HEIDI)
Again, not a period-appropriate film, but Heidi does spend a significant amount of it running around in an undershirt, so thatâs useful for taking it out of time a bit. Anuk Steffan was 10 when filming, and this movie has the added benefit of portraying her with both long and short hair, which makes it particularly ideal for content portraying both Arya Stark and Arry the Orphan. She even occasionally runs around in boysâ clothing, albeit 19th century boysâ clothing.
A FEW OTHERS
1. ARABELLA MORTON - GAEL (THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER): Arabella was 10 when filming the third Narnia movie. She doesnât have a ton of footage, but thereâs some material between her and her onscreen father thatâs potentially useful for Arya and Ned, and sheâs got a mischievous spirit that feels very Arya to me.
2. UNKNOWN ACTOR - YOUNG SOPHIA/ZOE (SOPHIA): Iâm not sure who this actor is (if you know, please tell me!) but she plays Young Sophia/Zoe in the Russian series Sophia. Based on her height, sheâs significantly older than Arya, and she only appears in one sequence, which can be found here. However, I think her face is uncommonly perfect for Arya, so Iâve used her both for gifs and for stills.
3. HARRY STOTT - LUPUS (ROMAN MYSTERIES): Harry Stott was 11-12 when filming the TV series Roman Mysteries. Heâs a useful resource when fancasting Arya in disguise as Arry, particularly in the Season 2 episode titled âThe Fugitive from Corinth,â where he wears the brown traveling cloak you can sort of see in the picture above.
4. TOM TAYLOR - YOUNG UHTRED (THE LAST KINGDOM): Another good Arry fancast. Tom Taylor was 13ish when filming the first season of The Last Kingdom, which has particularly good cold weather, fur-based fashion. Heads up that the character of Young Uhtred was recast for later seasons, and the other kid looks much less like Arya.
Anyway, I hope this is useful, and feel free to add any additional actors you like to cast as Arya! Iâm planning to make several of these for different characters; the full set can be found here once Iâve made more.
- She killed the Night King
- Arya likes exploring.
- She likes picking flower and giving them to her dad causes she loves him.
- She likes babies and playing with kids.
- She makes friends with ANYBODY.
- She used to swing her doll around when forced to eat vegetables.
- She gets sad when she thinks about Bran being sad and misses playing with her baby brother Rickon.
- She talks too fast when she gets excited. (Ex. When talking about her older brother Jon)
- She swims like a fish.
- She gets sad when thinks her wolf puppy Nymeria not liking her anymore.
- And she put someone on her hate list cause he stole her best friendâs favorite helmet.
- She adopted some random baby at 9 just cause she was scared.
Everyone: Jon is the prince who was promised. He will get us out of the long night.
Arya: hold my beer
