round two, because i deleted the last one in sweeping my blog off, except this time, this oneās rebloggable. this only covers vampires and spellcasters in detail. aliens, i donāt play with a lot, so i didnāt/couldnāt think of anything. plus, theyād all have their own as theyāre not. from sims earth ( searth, if you will ). mermaids are there, but archaically. werewolves i genuinely couldnāt think of much for.
Vampires traditionally wed in black clothes to symbolise both the night and death. Their guests traditionally wear darker colours such as dark shades of purple, blue, or red while the wedding party matches the red and black theme.
Archaic; any human free to drink from would be wearing white, but most vampiric traditions have become outdated in the wake of a progressing world, therefore it has become frowned upon to have humans solely to drink from at weddings. If humans are there, they must be as guests, and its considered bad form and lack of hospitality to drink from guests. No one said they canāt do it discreetly, though.
Vampires also often wear a red accessory to symbolise blood and life as blood is their source of life. This red accessory is often an exchange of gifts be it earrings, a necklace, a flower, lapel, or headpiece. It is also customary for vampires who are marrying vampires they made them to offer the turned vampire a gift representing community, family, new life, and eternity. This gift must have significant meaning behind it, such as an heirloom or something very precious to the vampire.
Archaic; The two would mark each other with a deep bite on the neck each as a symbol of their union. The bite needed to be deep so the wound would never fade, but instead, scar over. This practice is not usually done anymore, unless under strict supervision, because of the ācannibalistic tendenciesā one could develop after drinking from another vampireās blood.
If a vampire is marrying a human, it was assumed, either before or after the wedding, the human would be turned into a vampire by their spouse. If they are not turned within a year, the marriage is nullified by the courts. This practice is still enforced today and was implemented as a form of protection for the vampires due to fear of being infiltrated by hunters.
Archaic; If the human was not turned within the year, they would be killed. Modern; Nowadays, they have their memories removed, and sent back out into the human world with no knowledge of vampires or any other occult.
Spellcaster weddings are very colourful affairs. The colour of the wedding often depends on what magic the Spellcaster is associated with. If two different magic users are marrying each other, they will wear the colours of the magic associated, although some have implemented patterns of other colours. Itās usually customary to wear at least one accessory in one of the colours the other magic user is associated with.
Blue or green, and white for Practical Magic users. Pink and black for Mischief. Red and gold for Untamed. Spellcasters are also associated with and can harness elements that are present in their traditional wedding attire. Practical users can manipulate earth or water, but not both, while Mischief can manipulate air, and Untamed can both manipulate and create fire.
The wedding party traditionally matches with the Spellcaster instead of wearing their associated colour. For example, the groom is an Untamed user, therefore the best man would wear red and gold, despite being a Mischief user. The guests attire is usually whatever magic they are associated with, though they are only allowed to pick one colour so the wedding party can stand out.
Similar to vampires, Spellcasters offer each other a gift at the wedding, although this gift is usually associated with their magic. Untamed users have been banned from offering clones as gifts. Everyone saw how vampires were created, and no one wants to relive that horror tale. The gift could be anything such as an eternally burning, controlled, small fire, something charmed to never break, or protection against mischief magic.
Werewolf weddings donāt tend to be busy celebrations, but there are still traditions that come along with them. Werewolves tend to get married in wolf form, and every guest who is a werewolf attends in that form, too.
There is no dress code at werewolf weddings, but they will often wear dark blue or black to represent the night sky,Ā white or yellow for the stars, or silver for the moon.
If married on a Full Moon, werewolves will often moonbathe with their spouse and believe the moon will bless their union with abundance. If married on a New Moon, werewolves will do a ritual together with their spouse to bless their union by setting goals and making plans to embrace the future together.
There isnāt a lot about mermaids other than their nuptials often take place in the ocean. If marrying someone who is not a mermaid, their wedding will be on land, but must be near the sea. Mermaids will wear sea paraphernelia in their hair or around their bodies.
Archaic: Mermaids would drown sailors at sea together as a symbol of their union. This is, of course, not practiced anymore after having been outlawed due to the capture and slaughter of mermaids as well as it slowly becoming viewed as a barbaric custom as the years passed.
