toge inumaki is a man of few words. it was never his own choice, but it was because of the fact that his speech is cursed that he never spoke unless it was ingredients. oh, how he always wants to properly communicate with his best friends and especially with you, his partner.

he doesn’t know why you even fell in love with him in the first place. he can’t speak like a proper human and is often away to fight curses, but you’re still here by his side a year later, waiting for him to come home and not seeming to have any troubles with him not speaking.

since he can’t declare his love to you via speech, he instead does it in writing. something that has become a good habit of his is to write you letters every single morning. it doesn’t matter if he’ll be home when you wake up to read them or if he’s away when you do, he just wants you to know every single thing he’s thinking about and all of his feelings.

so when you wake up today, it’s no different. there’s a letter laying on your bedside table, causing a smile to spread over your lips even though toge isn’t currently with you in bed. the whole paper is filled with texts with a few hearts in the corners.

‘goodmorning baby, i’m at the convenience store right now so i might not be home when you wake up. i’ll buy your favorite snacks and when i get home we can just relax in bed all day and watch movies. you looked so peaceful now when i woke up and saw you, i gave you a few kisses but thankfully you didn’t wake up. every single time i see you i just wanna hug you tight and never let go, because you’re so warm and so sweet and i just wish i could keep you in my arms forever. i love you more than anything else in this entire world, you light up my world. every time i see you my heart beats quicker and i keep getting so nervous around you. you have my entire heart, y/n, you have my entire soul and i want you to have it forever. i love you and i’ll see you soon, pretty <3’

you can’t help the tear that makes it’s way down your cheek while you read through the letter all over again, smiling to yourself while crying so early in the morning. he never fails expressing his feelings, even if it’s through text and not speech.

and as the front door suddenly opens, you immediately get out of bed and make your way towards the hallway, smiling widely when seeing toge kick off his shoes with two plastic bags in hand. without a second thought, you wrap your arms around his neck and bury your face into his shoulder.

how he wishes he could tell you that he loves you, how he wishes he could tell you how pretty you look. there is so many things that he cannot even express in text and that he may never get to express, but he can hold onto you and he can press kisses to every single part of your face to get rid of your insecurities. he will keep holding your hand until the day he dies, because he needs you to know that you’re the only one for him.
