Double Life: Far Too COLD!!

2/6 of my PearlescentMoon Double Life Thumbnail series for my Illustration class. Episode 2’s thumbnail is one of my favorites, thank you to (youtuber/artist) GenrihG for inspiration!

Each illustration is sketched in red colored pencil, colored with watercolor and gouache, and lined with red ink. For this project, I focused on different coloring and shading techniques. (I also wanted to highlight different story elements, so heres freezing Pearl and the lovely Tilly baby.)

Had a very emotional dentist appointment today, but it was immediately followed by me telling my mom all about Tina and Leo meeting

I just can perfectly remember Tina’s “There’s a baby in the club!” and “I haven’t met you before but I have a feeling you’re gonna be my favorite.” Two best lines, always brings me joy

Bonus points for “That’s your dad 😒”

I need to do another painting of them, also really want to paint Tr!Ros (and maybe Tr!Tina learning magic together)

The moment when everything changed

Since The Reason is You Guapoduo fanzine just came out, it feels an appropriate time to release this cursed reference I made.

It’s hard enough to find a dancing reference, harder still to find one with three pairs of hands!

Symbols & Details

New Chaos Begins is the only thumbnail to feature Pearl in her blue jacket! It took several layers of gouache to perfect the lighting.

The grass is red and blue for the nether, but also can represent Pearl and Scott. A small hint to the mysterious soulmate at the end of the red string.

The red string connects to the viewer, leaving the mystery of who she is connected to. Also it looks cool!

The mushrooms and blazes can represent the trading items from the nether. The Nether also is both the cause for the rest of the story and introduces the color red (a prominent color/symbol).
