well, i know what i’m doing from now on.
Use a Dreidel as a D4 to flex on the goyim
But...but we are goyim...
considering i just reblogged a post saying i talk about mythology, figure now might be a good time to talk some more about my campaign.
character of the day: parthenia.
she’s a devout worshiper of zeus, specifically of the epithet of zeus xenios. she runs a sort of boarding and bathhouse for travellers passing through called the golden oak. if you know zeus’ symbols, you’ll understand.
so far i have her described as the human embodiment of a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate. i considered giving her a child with zeus, but she has far too much respect for hera to accept his advances.
normally i know this would not stop zeus. in this case, i don’t want it as part of my campaign.
so she’s favored by hera and is generally just a lovely person.
todays characters are johnny "long dong" silver and dorian brackenborough from my pirate campaign!
so starting with johnny, he is a very charismatic individual, long greying hair and eyes that sparkle with mischief. he's the bosun of the main pirate ship in this campaign. johnny silver is a trans man, the nickname "long dong" referring to his old, frankly huge packer. He has since transitioned with the help of a wizard with true polymorph but the packer still shows up around the ship because some of the crewmates find it funny to just hide it somewhere until someone finds it. "long dong's on the loose" is a phrase heard more often than one might think.
dorian brackenborough is the ship's doctor. he was a medical student when he first met johnny and he fell hard and fast. he's quiet, gentle, not the type for piracy really. still, when johnny asked him if he wanted to join up, he couldn't say no.
johnny and dorian are now together and have been for quite some time. they are still idiots for each other, though. johnny loves to call dorian all sorts of pet names, though darling is a favorite to the point that some folks just call dorian "johnny's darling" or "johnny darling" because it always makes him blush. johnny also, much to dorian's annoyance, has a tendency to hurt himself just for an excuse to see his boyfriend.
anyhow, they are in love and i love them dearly.
Now your turn to make Aphrodite! Here's the link!

been a while since i posted, so i’m back to scream into the void.
character of the day: areti, aka big momma
she’s a halfling, runs a soup shop. she’s an older lady, loves her family very much. she has a daughter, tasia, who married a lovely cyclops named pericles. areti recently gave her granddaughter, ionna, her first job.
areti’s wife, cora, was a trans woman. she transitioned after they were married and areti suggested they renew their vows so cora could have a proper wedding as herself. tasia walked cora down the aisle and areti cried because her wife looked so happy and so beautiful.
basically i love her very much.
Make Ares with this!

ALSO
for those who may be confused if i mention various gods as poc in my lore
this is not meant to be a direct interpretation of mythology. this is a modern setting and i felt the gods in this setting should reflect the society as a whole.
i know historically they would not have been, but this is a full on alternate sort of thing.
just wanted to clear that up because i know some folks might get confused or offended without context.

i may be absent for a while. my mental health has suddenly and very rapidly decline to the point where i am struggling to function. i am doing very very badly, to put it gently.
for those of you who may not know, i live with schizophrenia. i am on medication to help make it livable but my medication recently stopped working, seemingly all at once which was very odd. in any case, until i can get medication that works well enough to stop me seeing things in shadows and feeling spiders on my skin when i know nothing is there, i may be inactive.
i may still post on @one-good-fellow which is where my writing goes, as i have found making horror stories and poetry of my experiences help at least put things into words. any kind words would be welcome. i am, for lack of a better term, really going through it right now. things are rough.
i hope everyone stays safe and warm, especially those in texas dealing with that whole mess. please look after each other as best you can. i hope to speak with you all soon in a better state of mind.
i love you all. each and every one of you who follow this blog or even just glance at it from time to time, i love you. i know it’s odd coming from a stranger on the internet, but at the time it is all i can offer.
stay safe and keep holding on.
time for me to talk more about my campaign!
so, this is like an urban fantasy sort of deal.
my players so far are a siren who won’t sing, a living statue, and a pigeon harpy.
one of my absolute favorite npcs is a harpy shop npc. actually two of my favorites are harpies.
they’re both seagull harpies, absolute gremlins.
if any of you remember that seagull covered in curry? yeah, he’s a harpy living under a picnic table in the park. you give him food, he gives you random items of varying usefulness.
and then there’s kallisto. she’s a random encounter, will ask for food and then just kind run off. she doesn’t give you anything for a while. then, eventually, she starts giving you little magic items. these generally act as separate random encounters.
oh, and her name means most beautiful. she is not conventionally that. she’s just a scrappy little seagull that steals your fries and screams at random moments out of boredom.
so yeah, i love her.
happy chanukah, folks!
may everyone have a safe, happy, and healthy holiday, this year and all years, no matter what you celebrate or don’t.
