More of Adam and Evelyn! Loved drawing out these cute little interactions between them. It gave me time to work on their difference in size and hone in on facial features. Hope you guys like them!
Ok so hot take, but I don't like the phrase "Modern Prometheus" when describing Victor Frankenstein. Because unlike Victor, Prometheus actually cared about his creations (humanity) and sought to protect them (gave them fire). And when he was found out by Zeus, he took responsibility for his actions, but didn't apologize for doing what he thought was right. Sure Victor created life, but he abandoned it for looking at him funny.
reblog to give your headache to elon musk instead
Okay so I just thought of an idea for a TV show based on Frankenstein where it follows the creature on his journey as he learns about the world, but it focuses on his appearance, specifically his body parts.
Like each episode would be about a different body part that Victor used to make him and it cuts between present day with the creature and the past with the person that body part originally belonged to. The episode goes on to show what that person's life was like, how they acted, and eventually how they died.
For example: the creature's hands belonged to a poor, but talented painter and the episode focuses on the creature using his hands (building shelter, making fire, drawing in the dirt with a stick, etc).
Or the creature's face/head belonged to a beautiful male prostitute and the episode shows the similarities/contrast with how he was treated and how the creature is treated.
We're reading Frankenstein in my college lit class and the topic of the creature's appearance came up. We were arguing about whether or not he was truly hideous. Some of us thought he looked relatively normal, but with scary eyes and some scarring while others thought he looked more like your stereotypical zombie.
My professor had this to say about the monster's appearance:
"Imagine the most handsome man you can think of. Someone who is well known for being conventionally attractive. That man is now dead, and his head is carefully sewn onto another dead man's torso. All his new body parts are proportionate, but his skin- which has been decaying for who knows how long- has lost all its luster and turned to a yellowish tint. His watery eyes are an unnatural shade of yellow. And he's towering over you at 8ft tall. Is he still handsome?"
Recently got an iPad air and downloaded Procreate during Christmas! I feel confident enough to post one of my new favorite pieces of art: Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy! I'm still learning how to use Procreate so expect an improvement in quality in the future.
A few little Agatha all along sketches
There's another scene at Nojiko's hut where she says that Nami is "a thief with no conscience. And when there's no more left to take she leaves and doesn't turn back." As she says this you can see Zoro looking down with an expression of... disappointment. Like deep down he was hoping Luffy would be proven right about Nami's character, but Nojiko's words just further confirm his suspicions.
Then Nojiko says something that makes him look up: "My sister doesn't have any friends."
Those were the last words Zoro said to Nami before his duel with Mihawk. This does two things 1) it shows Zoro (and the audience) that Nami wasn't lying during their drinking game at Baratie when she said she didn't have any friends, 2) it makes him feel guilty.
Because of my last video, I've been thinking a lot about this moment, about Zoro's little step back when Nami sees them for the first time since the betrayal, and I wonder if it was something written in the script or if Mackenyu (or another person like the director or the writers during filming) came up with it on the spot. Because I really love it.
I mean, the others were there when Nami's betrayal takes place but Zoro doesn't see it, Luffy has to tell him what happened. So this is the first time they see each other since he directly hurt her with her own words. Since he used her own vulnerability against her just to get her to leave him alone.
So the fact that he is almost intimidated by her when they see each other again after the absolute disaster that was their last conversation (and without him knowing what she has been doing for him during his convalescence), is a great detail to me.
Work in progress for Adam and Evelyn drawing. Love drawing a flustered Adam <3!
Nøkken Among the Lilies
Thought I'd post a pic of my summer acrylic painting.
The Nøkken (also known as Näcken, Nøkk, Nixie, or Nix) is a water spirit from Scandinavian Folklore. He is known to reside in still bodies of water, hiding in the lily pads and fern. Nøkken was said to play the violin, fiddle, or harp so beautifully it lured people to the bodies of water where they drowned.
AHHHH!!! This is so good!!!
She’s French in the same kinda way Miss Piggy is French 😅
