The Performance Of A Male Coastal Peacock Spider Hoping To Appeal To A Female Mate.

The Performance of a Male Coastal Peacock Spider hoping to appeal to a Female mate.

Although other species of spider are known to perform mating rituals similar to this one, the legwork used as well as symmetry and colours of the clown faced abdomen is very unique.

A cannibalistic nature of the female; which is common in certain spider species, is also observed in this type.

A female may witness the dance, but could already be carrying eggs or is uninterested. The perturbed female usually attacks the male; and although the male has superior jumping ability helping its escape, if it is not quick enough it is killed and devoured.

It is also common that even if the female is interested, she can still devour the male after mating.

He is lighting fires. He is turning people against people. He is misstating the facts of what’s happening domestically, what’s happening with Muslims.

Andrea Mitchell, commenting on Donald Trump, the fascist ‘human dumpster fire’. (via liberalsarecool)

We need to stop being so polite about this and saying things like “misstating the facts”.

Donald Trump is a liar.

It’s that simple.

Donald Trump didn’t misstate facts.

Donald Trump is a liar.

Previously Unseen HD Footage Of Nuclear Bomb Testing From 1955 Has Been Released

image

Julius Robert Oppenheimer, regarded as one of the ‘fathers of the atomic bomb’, said of his device “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”

A fair assessment given the incredible destructive power of a nuclear bomb and proved by the two times they were used in military history by the US against Japan towards the end of World War Two.

“Let’s face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don’t fing, grocers don’t groce and hammers don’t ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn’t the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn’t it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn’t a race at all). That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.”

Raise your hand if you started off as an overachiever and now you’re fighting off crippling anxiety and depression as you watch people catch up and surpass you while you watch your own grades slowly slip
