What is a leech?
I don’t think: that one can
define it by only colour
and shape.
I think: that its
winding,
burrowing, hunger
is the shining silver trait
A tarnished trophy to the
person that slobbers on
another’s grief like a stolen
jawbreaker
Their appetite is insatiable
and oh so terribly
cumbersome! But, like that
leech, they hold on, they
gorge themselves blindly.
Never expecting salt.
There is salt in
my pocket,
under my eyes,
on my tongue.
