I just came back and looked at the only fanfic I’ve written. It was about characters. In a text book. A beginners Japanese text book. I had studied Japanese 8 years before ever even finding out about this text book. I now realize why I don’t write fan-fiction.

YES THANK YOU
All I'm saying is, if a fic refers to characters by their physical attributes instead of their names or pronouns ("he smiled at the older" "the blonde laughed") when we know who the character is, and ESPECIALLY if the descriptions include "ravenette" or "cyanette" or other ridiculous words--
I'm clicking out of that fic so fast my AO3 history won't even register I've been there.
I refuse to believe I am sick, I am just updating and I froze half way through the process.
Who else has an odd fear of their legs popping like Barbie doll legs? No blood, no gore, just a little non and socket. You can pop the legs back on but just the thought.
Writing tip time!
Characters are a complex thing in general, but character relationships are even more complex. Just remember that characters don’t always have to share interests or goals to be compatible. Humans are complex and while characters aren’t as complex they’re still a reflection their fleshy creators.
Important ideas to consider when creating characters who are black and indigenous people of color. (x) (Creator’s instagram post)
