I Was Thinking About How I Starting Learning Adobe Photoshop Stuff Way Back In 2007 When I Was 15…and

I was thinking about how I starting learning Adobe Photoshop stuff way back in 2007 when I was 15…and back when Adobe Photoshop CS2 was cutting edge, you had to pay for it. Which is unlike now, where CS2 is officially free from Adobe (sort of), but Creative Cloud subscriptions are a thing, but that’s even more expensive.

I also thought about the first album design I ever made back then as well, and my dad kindly posted it on Facebook and tagged me in it.

I forgot how bad it was. Dear lord, the back and front have no cohesion, warped text is terrible, there’s way too many fonts, and tilting text is generally a no-no unless you really know what you’re doing… but I actually appreciate looking at it, because I’m looking at it and going “Oh wow, I’ve improved a lot in the past 10 years.”

It’s also really interesting to see what’s stayed the same, because there’s a few things I can clearly pinpoint as consistent things. Firstly, I clearly like either A) bright colors, or B) dark and moody stuff. Secondly, I am clearly a nerd, considering that the first one has a modded amp tube diagram on the back, and the second one has a Sierpenski gasket. Thirdly, I always seem to have ridiculous ideas for song names.

It’s nice to have reminders of how far you’ve come. It really is. I was the kind of kid who got frustrated with a lot of my work and would just wantonly throw things I made out if I deemed it to be terrible for what I could do later. That hasn’t helped me too much nowadays.

(Also, I’m very, very tempted to redesign the old one. I could probably make something a lot better now.)

I Decided To Make Myself An Album Design Project Centered Around Something I Used To Doodle A Lot In

I decided to make myself an album design project centered around something I used to doodle a lot in my early college years—Sierpinski gaskets and Apollonian gaskets. (Incidentally, I think I may have found the one thing that’s easier to draw traditionally than digitally...but perhaps that’s because I’ve been drawing a lot of economics graphs for exams for the past four years, so I’m used to drawing geometric things by hand at this point.)

While I know there’s no such thing as an “Artemesian Gasket”, I decided to assign Sierpinski gaskets to Artemis, because Apollo and Artemis are supposed to be diametrically opposed twins, and triangles are the opposite of circles, imo (because triangles have the bare minimum of three points for a shape, and circles have theoretically infinite points on their circumferences.)

I’m currently working on Apollo at this time, and I’ll showcase that one in the near future.

(Oh, and as full disclosure, the mock-up file I used is here.)

I’m So Glad That I Managed To Finish This Tonight! It’s Been Something I’ve Been Wanting To Finish

I’m so glad that I managed to finish this tonight! It’s been something I’ve been wanting to finish for a while now. That said, I’ve learned that my current stamina for drawing without getting hand cramps is somewhere in the ballpark range of about 6 straight hours.

Anyway, enjoy these sad saps.

I am sickeningly happy with this selfie and want to share it on everything. (Probably because getting a proper haircut is good.)

(Also, that’s my roommate’s cat. He’s great.)

These are some pencils I designed within the past few months, with a pencil case included.

I decided that the idea was that they would use flocking (so that certain parts of the pencils would be fuzzy). The overall theme, of course, is creepy stuff.

This Is The Culmination Of A Six Week Class On 3D Modeling That’s Required For Me To Officially Grab

This is the culmination of a six week class on 3D modeling that’s required for me to officially grab one of my two degrees.

I’m also pretty happy that I thought of a game idea where you’d need light to survive—to the point where you’d just keel over if you weren’t near any light at all. So, I asked if I was allowed to make a HUB for it too, and it was OK’d...so, I did.

I’ve Been Doing Super Duper Rough Speedpaints Of Jotaro And Joseph In Between Points Where I’ve Been
I’ve Been Doing Super Duper Rough Speedpaints Of Jotaro And Joseph In Between Points Where I’ve Been

I’ve been doing super duper rough speedpaints of Jotaro and Joseph in between points where I’ve been frustrated with the approximately 50 icons I have to design for an actual company.

Of course, these two aren’t finished by my actual standards, but I’ve been pushing myself to try to do smaller things on the side so that I don’t get overwhelmed with the sheer number of things I have to design. Also, I’ve been legitimately happy that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure stood my “two month” test before I get bored with a series and dump it...so it’s in league with Panic! at the Disco and The Legend of Zelda in terms of fandoms for me at this point. (Although Joseph is inexplicably my favorite Jojo, and I’m disappointed that my intro was Jotaro back in the day with the fucking garbage OVAs, because NO WONDER MY INITIAL IMPRESSION WAS BAD AND I INITIALLY DIDN’T LIKE IT, JEEBUS.)

I’m glad I’ve gotten 80% of what I needed to finish while spitting these two things out too. And a few other non-essential things.

I kinda want to legitimately finish these. And make a few other Jojo things, too. I want a damn Kakyoin sketch for myself.

Ok, so I was 7000 shy of winning NaNoWriMo until my left hand decided to cramp up and hate me. It really hurts. My knees are also aching.

I'm letting a few friends read the alpha draft of a story I have wanted to write for a long time. (Because hooray, Google Docs!). I also think I want to slam out the whole book's rough draft before 2018, and then edit next year.

And I have a job interview for a design production job tomorrow, and that's super cool.

I'm also gonna go back to doing comic live streams on Saturdays. I miss doing comic stuff.

I Decided To Design Business Cards And A Logo For My Roommate’s Corgi, Because She’s Absolutely Precious,

I decided to design business cards and a logo for my roommate’s corgi, because she’s absolutely precious, and I keep taking so many photos of that adorable corg that my roommate and I agreed to make her an Instagram and help run it in my spare time...because my design work doesn’t need to be clogged up by Truffles 24/7. (You can actually follow that corgi dog over here!)

While we haven’t bothered to print the cards yet (because Truffles the corgi isn’t popular enough to warrant printing business cards in the near future), I do have a print ready Adobe Illustrator file on hand for the event that her business cards ever get printed.

For now, I’m just going to keep the mockup version of her cards on hand. (BTW, I used a modified version of this mockup. After all, edge painted cards are a real thing, and that was something I modified myself.)
